I was very disapointed with the communication (or lack therof) regarding billing. Only AFTER the exam, was it disclosed to me that there was some GARBAGE FEE for contact lens fitting. Horrible experience. Never coming back. I came in as a new patient this year and my experience was not great. My appointment experience: I scheduled my appointment at 4:30 PM since that was the next available spot. When I arrived I didn't even finish completing the new patient form. I immediately started my eye exam. I don't have an issue at all with that but I felt rushed the entire time I was in that office. I felt rushed during my exam with Dr. Wells, since the moment I walked in the door to the moment I walked out. it was rushed. If they just want to hurry up and leave then why schedule patients after 4:30 PM? The office closes at 5:30 PM so I don't understand that motion. As soon as Dr. Melinda was done with me she left right away. That explains why I felt rushed. She probably just wanted to leave for the day but it brings me back to my point....why even bother scheduling patients after 4:30 PM?! Voicemail experience: I received a voice message from Danny and he's the only male person in that office so I assume it was him. The voice message he left me was muffled and I could not understand what he said. I assume it was to pick up my glasses. He just spoke in a low voice and very fast. For some reason I was just annoyed by his message. Please leave a proper voice message that is loud, clear and professional. Picking up My Glasses experience: I went to pick up my glasses and Gena was the one that attended me. She looks at my patient file and sees my eye vision results and her comment to me was "wow you have really bad eye sight". I was so caught off guard by this because I didn't expect that kind of comment coming from a supposedly professional establishment. I already know I have bad eye sight. I don't need her to tell me that or to remind me of that and I simply didn't ask for her opinion or her expertise on my eye sight. I was just coming in to pick up my glasses. Yes, I was hurt by her comment and I should have said something like I usually do when I come across rude people but I held back. At that moment I already made up my mind that I was not coming back. Like how dare she make me feel horrible for my eyes. It's generic's lady which I have no control over it. Stye Experience: I recently got a stye on my eye over the weekend and I wanted to see a doctor that can prescribe something stronger to get rid of it instead of the normal home remedies. So against my better judgement I decided to give this place a try one MORE TIME. I called yesterday at 4:00 pm asking if Dr. Wells provides stye consultation and can prescribe something if she were to see me. Gina answered and said that she does. Gina asked what is my medical provider and I told her. She asked if I can text her a picture of my insurance card which I did. When she was on the phone with me she said that she will look up the info and she will return my call. I texted the same number I sent in my picture at 4:30 PM and no response. So then I decided ok not a problem I can wait until tomorrow so that they return my call. It is 4:33 pm the next day and I have yet to receive a follow up call at all on this matter. She told me she was going to give me a call back. It has been 24 hours and no response. I am beyond upset and this is the reason for this review. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. I highly recommend Love Optometry in David Hwang O.D in Irvine. I've been going to him for the past 3 years  and he's been amazing. Complete opposite experience than what I experienced here but unfortunately I have a new vision provider and that is the reason I came to Wells Melinda but that was a big mistake. My eyes have always been good. Never have a problem with them and never needed glasses... Well... age is catching up with me. I can't read the newspaper anymore without those cheapy $1 reading glasses from the drug store. So, as much as I don't like doctor visits, I set up an appointment with Dr Wells anyway. She is an excellent eye doctor! She checked everything possible and even took some crazy pictures of my eyes. She explained everything in detail and in normal people terms so that I would understand. The whole office was friendly, the visit was quick and she is now not only my GO-TO for an eye doctor, but for my wife and daughter too. Love that this office offers the convenience of Saturday appointments and that one is available to request an appointment online. With my work and school schedules, it's difficult for me to take care of important appointments such as my annual eye check up. Dr. Wells' office makes it easy. I went to their website late on a Tuesday night and was able to secure appointments for both me and my husband for the coming Saturday morning. Another aspect I liked about my experience is that they took care of all of my insurance issues without any problems. Also, there was no high pressure sales efforts to get me to order glasses through their office. Ample and convenient parking behind the building, which is adjacent to The Sizzler on El Toro Road (their parking lots actually connect just behind O'Reilly's.) I wasn't sure what to expect when we went for my daughter's eye exam when we discovered she was having a hard time seeing things close up. Dr Wells and her team were fantastic.
