So I think 3 stars is fair, and I don't think 3 stars is bad. Now this is a small hot springs resort in the middle of nowhere Idaho, so adjust your expectations accordingly. We went the day after Christmas and there weren't a lot of people there, but the pools were clean and warm. The snacks were fairly priced, and they had some last minute needs in case you forgot anything, very fairly priced as well. Not a bad place to come to just soak and relax. read more

You guys really need to redo your rv spaces.... I had to walk sideways to get out of our rv bc we were so close to the site next to us. There is PLENTY of room.... When you cram ppl in it feels like you are being greedy... also you need to include the water park visit in your prices... it's LITERALLY THE ONLY reason people visit! read more

We had driven to Idaho to go to Lava Hot Springs but it was so crowded. Luckily my Mom told me about this place and we decided to drive a little further and check it out. What a nice surprise. It's owned by a Family and tucked at the base of the Western Mountain range. It has two hot and hotter mineral pools plus and Olympic size pool that is heated. It's super clean and only about 150 miles from Salt Lake City. In the summer there is a water park. They have Yurts, TPees and other motel type rooms for rent. It would be a fun family weekend getaway. I don't want this place to become another Lava but it was so fabulous I had to talk about it. read more

A good bulldozer would definitely help out this place. The tubes are still fun especially the black hole. Be nice to add more though. read more

We went to the New Years Party and it was so much fun!!! We rented a yurt and got to go in the hot springs, watch a movie, play trivia, and enjoy dinner and music. The fireworks display was amazing! The kids asked if we can go back every year! I won the trivia this year and I got a gift basket and $50 which m completely unexpected. The sidewalks are heated so even though there's tons of snow around you the snow does not stay in the sidewalks. It was 2 degrees outside when we were there and walking from the hot springs to the yurt was not bad at all! Highly recommend this place. Clean, very friendly staff and if the kids had fun... that means the adults had fun too! The next day we rented sleds for an hour and then went to the restaurant on the grounds for hot cocoa. read more

1) price of a $215 wagon does NOT include the pools 2) took 4 tries to get the ac to shut off 3) lantern didnt work 4) no towels unless you pay the $22 pool pass 5) bathrooms for the wagons are honey bucket crappers disgusting 5) restrooms feel like a half mile walk and you are walking right into the backs of the other trailers. literally their chairs are on the trail so no privacy 6) the place is ugly. nothing sweet or nature like. the soaking pools look and feel like a prison or a hand ball court 7) wagons are practically on top of one another. ours was 10' from the next one 8) god forbid you arrived later and wanted any kind of food after 8pm cuz all the dining is closed at 8. 9) when you book, they say there is no toilet in the wagon but no mention that its a schlep to the honey buckets and the bathrooms. ridiculous its a major fricking rip off. money hungry gouging, boring, small minded and ugly as sin to boot. read more

Husband and I bought our first RV a few weeks ago and decided to try Downata Hot Springs as our trial run for our new trailer. We were fortunate enough to be able to get a last minute reservation for the 4th of July weekend. When we arrived on Friday, we were pleasantly surprised how well maintained the main grounds were kept. They have a campsite for just about everyone - places for RV's, lots of space of tents, even has 6 yurts, some teepees for rent, a few cabins and 6 Conestoga wagons to take your glamming experience to whole new level. Some sites have fire pits included, several large group areas for camping, a playground for the kiddos, a horseshoe pit, sand volleyball area, and a really nice fire pit with hanging swings to rent. Our RV spot was a little tight to back into. Unfortunately it was necessary to unhitch our truck from the trailer and had to parallel park in front of trailer (this was the case for each RV spot). We were able to get a RV spot with full RV hookups but they do have RV spots without hook ups. There are a few camp hosts on site and they are very visible through out the day The hot soaking pools are are very cleans and very well maintained. The main swimming pool is also very large and has two large waterslides and a small water slide for the small kiddos. Additionally there are two extremely large waterslides adjacent to the main pool for those who want a little more water adventure. The food at the snack bar is greats. Really liked the French fries they were very hot and crispy - many times French fries are either soggy or limp but the fries here are absolutely fantastic. For extra convenience, the main pool office offers many kinds of rentals - from pool toys and pool noodles to towels to swimsuit to dvd's and blue ray to rent each night. Also rent horseshoes and various balls. According to their website they also offer various hiking trails, ATV trails and horse trails. Downata Hot Springs also offers space to keep your horses if you choose to bring them. Finally if you do a little research and even ask you can get an amazing breakfast on Saturday's and Sunday mornings (reservations must be made at least the one day prior with the main pool office). My husband will definitely be back - we are looking into bringing extended members of our family for our next trip - there is definitely something for everyone here. read more

Absolutely love this place out in the middle of nowhere. Every time we travel through we always stop here to soak our booties. What we find so charming is that there are two pool areas, a big pool with slides for families and a big long shallow pool for adult soaking. We have never seen anyone in the soaking pool - so we have it all to ourselves. It is delightful. You can swim laps or just laze about. Plus they close the kid pool and hour earlier than the soak pool so it is peaceful for that last soak before bed. We have enjoyed the "steak and a soak" on weekend evenings but our preference is to go during the week when the park is less inhabited. Campground spaces are close together and can be quite noisy and congested on wkends. Lots of sleep options - teepees, yurts, cabins. The surrounding area is farm land and we enjoy seeing the horses grazing in the wide open fields adjacent to the park. Lots of lush green grass and shade trees. Laundry has one washer and dryer- works perfectly. This is one of our favorite places to spend the night. read more

So far so good. I'll update as we are here. Got here about 5:10 pm and checked in. Really easy to find with the signs. The manager is Darlene, she has been here 27 years and her husband works here as well, (cooked the steaks). It is out in the middle of nowhere but that is alright. There are cattle, horses, and deer all over. A few small cabins, yerts, and teepees. The pool is naturally heated by the hot springs and it is VERY cozy. There IS wifi out here too, (I was shocked) food was amazing! Steak ribeye just right so that I didn't even need steak sauce, (that says a lot for me!) Dessert was an apple crumb crisp, really great too! Tomorrow. We have massages scheduled so ill be back then read more

Facilities are outdated. Noisy on weekends. Would return on a weekday but not bring my laundry. WiFi is good unless crowded. No grocery stores or restaurants (except a truck stop) within 25-45 miles so don't forget food as the on site restaurant is limited and pricey. read more

Great place to come camp or stay in one of the rented houses, small cabins or tepees. Swimming is expensive $10 a person for all day in there naturally heated hot springs pool. Water is about 92 degrees. Too warm when the weather is 95 degrees out. After about an hour I was done. I'm sure it's very nice in the cooler months. Great place for large groups such as reunions. It is out in the middle of nowhere so bring supplies and food. There is a snack shop that serves pizza , hamburgers and milkshakes,etc. so you don't have to bring food. The campground is no fancy KOA but it does have hookups. We didn't camp but I would bring my trailer here. We stayed in the Hadley house which is a nice old home. You can bring quads and ride in the area however I don't know how good the trails are. read more

Horrible place! Filthy, run-down facilities and entirely over-priced accommodations! A one nights stay at a medium cabin plus swim passes for 3 people nearly cost us $400. Plus you have to clean your own accommodations or you will be charged even more!! Staff members are rude, condescending, and confrontational! RULES, RULES, RULES! Every time you turn around you are bombarded by barking staff members! our running joke of the trip was "better not do that, it looks like fun and we all know thats against the rules here!" Oh yeah, AND MICE! Do yourselves a favor and drive to Lava Hot Springs instead. read more

Training your personal to inform people correctly. I bothered to call in advance to see if they had tent sites available. They said they had 3 with picnic table a fire pit but no shade. We drove there. I went to the main desk. The "experienced lady" said that the place was for a group of 3 tents. I asked if other visitors could come and camp there and they said that it would not be a problem. While I was in the restroom my boyfriend went to ask about the hot pools and they told him the 102 degrees would be half price between 6 and 8 and there was a special price for senior people. We went to see the spot, we liked it and while my boyfriend started setting the tent up I went to pay. Surprise, surprise! The price was almost $70 because we were getting all the space. They obviously misinformed me about that. It happened they had given the wrong information about the pool with the half price and there was no discount for senior people to go to the pool. I canceled and we left. The pools are not even open on Sunday. People, there are many hot springs in Idaho. Spend your time and money in one of the others. Better quality and treatment. read more

This was the worst experience in my entire life. The campsites are so small the campers next to me had to move their truck so I could back in! I've never seen such rude, entitled campers! I'm sure they are a bunch of millenials that have no camping etiquette and walk through the very small camp space. In fact one girl and two older females about knocked me over as I was cooking breakfast in my space. The next door campers moved their table and chairs right outside my trailer door and proceeded to eat their dinner and later stayed up all night talking and had their trailer lights in my trailer windows all night! Again, no camping etiquette!! About the time a huge German Shepherd, not on a leash, about had my chihuahua for a snack, I was done!! It said in the camping rules to the place big dogs like that are not allowed, and yet there is monitoring of any rules! Then the Bitch whose dog it was, proceeded to yell at us and said some pretty derogatory and degrading things to us and never apologized for her dog! The WiFi password never worked. There were soooo many trailers in such a small space that that was all we saw! We were in a spot with no trees and had to run our air conditioner all the time, but hey, that drowned out the campers that set up outside my trailer door! We finally packed up a day and a half early and left! I go camping to relax, which never happened as the campers continually walking through my campsite made the dogs bark! It was so very awful I'm thinking selling my trailer and never camping again! read more

We camped there this past weekend. Off peak because I don't much like crowds. The camping sites are tiny for being basically in cow pasture. I'm pretty sure the owners also own the ranch nearby. They were working in the shop until after 10 pm, banging a piece of metal. The pool had a five gallon container full of hydrochloric acid sitting next to the pool in the public area sitting in a puddle. This is extremely dangerous chemical. With LAVA HOT SPRINGS nearby it is the clear choice when looking for a place to soak. We will not be back. I'll spend my money at Lava. read more

We Camped here for our first camping trip of the season... Cons.. -The campground could use some up dates like widening the spaces. - No sewer hook-ups - Needs more fire pits in the RV packing area - You have to pay for EVERYTHING!!! You have to pay to shower, for your own fire wood because they say you can't bring your own. You pay for each separate pool, Hot pools are one price and the Rec Pool is another price. ( I paid more to swim then to camp two nights in the campground) -They don't update there website with the events going on so we were surrounded by hundreds of boy scouts. -The big slides weren't open. (later found out they where waiting for a part) but they should have posted this on their website. Pros -Most of the staff where very friendly and helpful. I believe that you get more for your money going to Lava Hot Springs as far as the Pools go. read more

We loved going there when we lived in Cache Valley. They have some great hot springs that are wonderful to just relax. We've stayed in one of their cabins, got a massage, and had their steak dinner. Never disappointed. Great place and great service. read more

I have visited Downata Hot Springs Resort several times for family reunions and it's the same thing every time, gross. This year took the cake and I won't be going back. The grounds aren't too bad, the camping and picnic spaces are pretty good. There is the good, now to the disgusting stuff....bathrooms and pool areas are are terrible. I'll start with the bathrooms and locker area. EVERY time I go there, there has only been one working toilet in the ladies locker room, in stall that looks like it's cleaned maybe once every few weeks. There was no toilet paper all day even though we told the front desk. I stood in a 5 person line with my 3 year old for 5 mins waiting for her to use the restroom, until it wasn't needed anymore and she needed to be changed. I over heard a conversation where the parent just told her child to pee in the pool because there were no other options. I can only imagine how often this happens. Not to mention, there was only one unclogged sink to wash hands. It's SO muggy. The floors are caked in dirt, again probably washed once a month. Rubber mats are in place to prevent falls, however they are spaced every few feet, and I constantly saw children and grown woman fall. It has a terrible layout, with narrow walk ways. You are always in someones way or getting ran into. The cubbies to place your belongings are COVERED in dust like it's been years since they have been cleaned. My husband expressed it was the same situation in the men's room...only worse! Now to the pool. I doubt this place that's been drained and cleaned in over a decade. The crust and decay was evident. Their filtration system is clearly not existent, or not working properly because leaves and bugs were swimming right along us tangling in everyone's hair. The pool and locker rooms layout are a child predators dream, someone could sneak off with a child and it's so crowded no one would know until it's too late. Listen, I get it parents must watch their children. But, when they allow hundreds of people into such a small space I can see how losing a child would be easy. The life guards aren't paying close attention, heck one life guard looked to be 12, and probably couldn't save a preschooler. Again, the grounds and the outside of the building are decent, but the basement and swimming areas need a serious remodel and need to be better maintained. read more

Me and my husband both love Downata Hotsprings. So relaxing, and we have never had a bad experience there. If you go, you have to do their couples steak night at least once. It's so good! Also, stay in one of those cozy little yurts, so cute! read more

We stayed in the ranch house. The place wasn't clean. Dead bugs in the windows and dirty. The floor in the house is slanted. There was hair in the sheets when we went to bed. I don't know if they were changed before our stay. There wasnt much water pressure in the bathroom shower by the bedrooms but the bathroom shower by the kitchen was better. This place could be nice but maybe they dont have enough help. The pictures and most of the furniture needs updated. I will not be back. They also charged an extra $5.00 a night for an extra car. This place likes to nickel and dime ya. read more

This place can't decide if it wants to be an RV park or cattle ranch. This was the worst RV park experience I had in four months of travel. Stayed here 10-18-14, the day the adjacent ranch separated the cows from the calves. Cattle trucks and ranch hands' vehicles rolled through the RV park and the cattle continually mourned ALL night. And the nearby 6:02 a.m. freight train was right on time! When I complained the next morning the man at the desk didn't offer any kind of apology but said only, "We appreciate you." Not recommended. Prepare to be billed for every little extra thing they can think of. Car parking, showers, extra tent, etc, etc. Campground host was snotty - but lifeguards were friendly. Camping spots are cramped - urban like. Prices are urban like as well. Hardly an oasis. read more

Kameron Johnson -- 1 starThis is actually the first place I have ever rated or reviewed anything. I'm still trying to make sense of what happened. This just happened today. We have our Family Reunion here every year for the last 6 years. Usually it is from Friday to Sunday. This year I bought an extra day so I could get my camper set up when there are less people. Anyways when I got there to check in nobody was at the little hut they have. Aparently they had a little sign on the main road that said to check in up by the pools. I guess I missed it. In years past it's not uncommon for no one to be at the hut and to go set up and when they returned go check in. Everything was already prepaid I just needed the reciept paper for my truck. About 3 minutes after I backed my camper up the camp host Mike showed up on a golf cart and said get on you need to check in. I said ok great and got on. What was going through my head was wow talk about great service. I was truly impressed until Mike opened up his mouth. The very first thing he said was "boy do you not know how to read" I said excuse me and he repeated himself. I said sir why are you talking to me like that. He wouldn't say and just kept berating me. I told him I already paid I just needed to pick up the receipt from the office to put in my truck. I am concerned why the owners of Downata would allow an employee to treat someone like that and talk down to them he said that Downata has been loosing money and he was hired to fix that. I said so why are you berating your guests that have paid. He wouldn't answer that. I could go on and on with how he was talking but it was very inappropriate. One thing I as so grateful for was that my family wasn't with me and my kids didn't have to hear someone speak like that but it does scare me to take them tomorrow wondering how Mike treats kids. I hope this was a once off and doesn't happen on a consistent basis. Every year we go multiple times to the pool and do their Steak Dinner and soak with friends and family. We will never be back to support an establishment that allows their employees to berate customers and do nothing about it. Again I truly hope this was a once off for Mike and Downata. read more
