Yes only 3 stars. Been coming here for 30 years unfortunately it is still the same old place. Needs renovation the Rv spaces are way too small and way over priced!! A good bulldozer would definitely help out this place. The tubes are still fun especially the black hole. Be nice to add more though.

We went to the New Years Party and it was so much fun!!! We rented a yurt and got to go in the hot springs, watch a movie, play trivia, and enjoy dinner and music. The fireworks display was amazing! The kids asked if we can go back every year! I won the trivia this year and I got a gift basket and $50 which m completely unexpected. The sidewalks are heated so even though there's tons of snow around you the snow does not stay in the sidewalks. It was 2 degrees outside when we were there and walking from the hot springs to the yurt was not bad at all! Highly recommend this place. Clean, very friendly staff and if the kids had fun... that means the adults had fun too! The next day we rented sleds for an hour and then went to the restaurant on the grounds for hot cocoa.

Absolutely love this place out in the middle of nowhere. Every time we travel through we always stop here to soak our booties. What we find so charming is that there are two pool areas, a big pool with slides for families and a big long shallow pool for adult soaking. We have never seen anyone in the soaking pool - so we have it all to ourselves. It is delightful. You can swim laps or just laze about. Plus they close the kid pool and hour earlier than the soak pool so it is peaceful for that last soak before bed. We have enjoyed the "steak and a soak" on weekend evenings but our preference is to go during the week when the park is less inhabited. Campground spaces are close together and can be quite noisy and congested on wkends. Lots of sleep options - teepees, yurts, cabins. The surrounding area is farm land and we enjoy seeing the horses grazing in the wide open fields adjacent to the park. Lots of lush green grass and shade trees. Laundry has one washer and dryer- works perfectly. This is one of our favorite places to spend the night.

So far so good. I'll update as we are here. Got here about 5:10 pm and checked in. Really easy to find with the signs. The manager is Darlene, she has been here 27 years and her husband works here as well, (cooked the steaks). It is out in the middle of nowhere but that is alright. There are cattle, horses, and deer all over. A few small cabins, yerts, and teepees. The pool is naturally heated by the hot springs and it is VERY cozy. There IS wifi out here too, (I was shocked) food was amazing! Steak ribeye just right so that I didn't even need steak sauce, (that says a lot for me!) Dessert was an apple crumb crisp, really great too! Tomorrow. We have massages scheduled so ill be back then

See pics. Nice shade trees. Packed on weekends. Office Friendly staff. Don't depend on laundry room. It's a closet and has one of each. Pools are too warm but they are hot springs pumped in. Facilities are outdated. Noisy on weekends. Would return on a weekday but not bring my laundry. WiFi is good unless crowded. No grocery stores or restaurants (except a truck stop) within 25-45 miles so don't forget food as the on site restaurant is limited and pricey.

House available to rent. $225 a night. Sleeps 10.

Great place to come camp or stay in one of the rented houses, small cabins or tepees. Swimming is expensive $10 a person for all day in there naturally heated hot springs pool. Water is about 92 degrees. Too warm when the weather is 95 degrees out. After about an hour I was done. I'm sure it's very nice in the cooler months. Great place for large groups such as reunions. It is out in the middle of nowhere so bring supplies and food. There is a snack shop that serves pizza , hamburgers and milkshakes, etc. so you don't have to bring food. The campground is no fancy KOA but it does have hookups. We didn't camp but I would bring my trailer here. We stayed in the Hadley house which is a nice old home. You can bring quads and ride in the area however I don't know how good the trails are.

This was from my trailer window!

The tour of the room by Autumn was awesome and added to the overall experience. The furniture, decorations and draperies were all spot on. The attention to detail like the rose on the mantel (from the Phantom, from anyone who hasn't seen Phantom of the Opera) the pitcher of ice water, a box fan tucked away in the corner, the Phantom of the Opera music playing, and DVD for viewing were all over the top details that made this stay worth every penny. The bed was great, as were the sheets and bedding. Then to plug devices in to charge there is a charging station next to the bed with I think 4 USB and 4 A/C plug ins to utilize. You can tell right away that these people care about their customers and do their best to make them happy. Then, the next day was a very nice breakfast consisting of bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, fresh cut fruit and creamy dipping sauce for the fruit, plus orange juice and hot chocolate (since we aren't coffee drinkers). It was delicious! We got a great rate by calling direct (better than the pricing that I saw online... but we stayed on a week night, so it may have been cheaper than a weekend stay. I have stayed in several bed and breakfast inns, and this one is the best that I have ever experienced! I highly recommend getting a room here if you are visiting Lava Hot Springs! Awesome!!!

Check in is confusing, as you get the keys to the room from the nearby gas station. The employees don't seem like they know what they are doing/ aren't very knowledgeable. We booked through Expedia, and the charge went through. But the employee insisted the charge didn't go through, and charged us for the room again. That is very frustrating, and they refuse to refund us, even though we were charged twice. The motel needs to better educate their employees on bookings, and providing customer service. Regarding the room, it is okay. The pillows/ beds are relatively comfortable, and everything is pretty clean. The towels are not very soft, and the bathroom is very small. They do have a microwave, small refrigerator, and coffee machine. They also have several garbage cans on the property that are full to the brim, and need to be emptied. Overall, not the best experience. I think in the future we will stay somewhere else, instead of having to dispute double charges.

$265 for one night in a dark musty basement…read more I can't speak for the other flats on the other floors, but I honestly don't know how they get away with charging close to $300 a night and calling a dark basement with no windows luxury. The photos online are incredibly deceptive. They make it look like a modern studio flat with plenty of natural light. The truth is that it is in the basement of an early 1900s building with 2 sliver slats of glass. It's dark, it's musty smelling. Also not mentioned on their website is that it is literally spitting distance from a giant mortuary. Now for some, that might be a selling point, but not for us. There were giant cobwebs in the tiny window slats and yes, we did see a giant spider that eluded us and made our "sleep" not restful. Speaking of the bed, not comfortable. Again, this place is advertised as LUXURY. Their words. Not mine. It's fine to call something rustic or industrial, but this room in particular is being sold as something it isn't. The bedding was hot, the bed was a rock, but it does vibrate on command if you are into that. If this place were closer to $100 a night then I could maybe see this being just a weird night and a funny story. But there are other hotels in the area that charge $100 less and offer a free breakfast and you don't have to clean up after yourself. This is not a boutique hotel, it's an Air b&b. Little things: Website says bathrooms are stocked with Aveda products, they were not. Websites says to enjoy complimentary snacks (bottles of arrowhead water and 4 bags of chips) You have to do your own dishes The water pressure is TERRIBLE There wasn't much hot water at night Despite being in the basement it was weirdly hot Whatever they are using to clean was irritating our eyes the entire time. Again, it's one thing to call a spade a spade and charge accordingly. This company is not being honest about these accommodations and they are charging luxury prices. This is a small town in the off season. We booked this room specifically because we wanted to have a nice luxury hotel stay. We aren't rich and this was a stretch for us to afford but again, it was supposed to be a luxury experience. So disappointed. We didn't sleep and we are out almost $300
