    Four pound lobster
    Yvonne R.

This establishment was right across from our campground. As soon as we parked and walked towards the entrance we can smell the food cooking in the large pots outside (I forgot to take a picture). They had some good specials. We ordered a 4 pound lobster to take back with us to eat outside at our campsite with a view of the water. They packed it so nicely in newspaper and in a box to stay warm. It was absolutely steamed to perfection. It was lightly cracked to make it easier to extract the big chunks of lobster. The claws were humongous. We had the corn on the cob and coleslaw on the side. This will always be a memorable dinner experience.

Fried clams and hand cut onion rings were perfectly cooked. Outdoor picnic tables or indoor seating available. Food cooked to order just for you in 10 minutes flat. Small Mom and Pop operation. Great little spot for a quick meal.

Lunt's Gateway Lobster Pound is best for ourdoor dining but also has a more casual indoor seating. We come every year. It's a classic little lobster restaurant that doesn't get quite as much food traffic as some of the bigger spots, but it's still always really good. It has such a home-y, laid-back feel to it, which is honestly part of why I like it so much. Highly recommend

We stopped here for a lobster roll on our way out of Acadia. We ordered a hot lobster roll, a pop over and a slice of blueberry pie to go. All of our food was very good. The lobster roll was a little small for $30 but I think that is very typical for that area. It was very delicious. They had lots of outdoor seating and a very fun Maine style atmosphere.

Absolute best blueberry pie I've ever had. Served hot with vanilla ice cream. Fish sandwich was 12.99, fresh fried haddock. Was absolutely delicious and a very decent size. Will 100% be returning. Kid working the outside counter was very sweet, too.

Omg I dont know how this place doesn't have 5 stars!! Hands down the best lobster ever!! Great prices too. I don't like clams.... But now I do!!! The clams were great. Even the sides were great!!

We've been here twice now, it's a good spot to hit on your way into Bar Harbor. The restaurant is always clean and so are the bathrooms. The staff are lovely people who make sure you're taken care of. We got three dishes and took home zero leftovers! The seafood is buttery and oh so tasty! The soup was a little thin for my liking but I still finished the bowl- no complaints! It is seafood so you do pay the price but there's no way around it in Maine!

Nothing special kinda pricey for in season. Tastes was on par with all others but come on throw in a side of coleslaw for the 8 cents it cost to make a side. 1 and done for me. I wish I found a better spot to support local business.

Scallops were delicious. Lobster was excellent. Everything is expensive but yummy. What can I say? I wish they gave us more coleslaw.

No lie: this was one of the best and cheapest lobster dinners I've ever had. More food than we could manage eating (though we pushed through) and incredible soup! I would definitely recommend dinner here to anyone. Better than any fancy lobster joint.

Our late lunch/early dinner today was excellent, limited to small lobsters with a couple of sides. who would make the mistake of ordering anything else? The lobsters were delivered quickly, hot, and with all the necessary implements. Service was professional, and out of character for such places, warm and friendly. I advise stopping here instead of the other competing places that seem to occupy every intersection.

Was told it was a great deal.. so decided to order 2 lobsters and it was 4.9 lbs, $78 total with 2 corns. They were sweet and huge but not sure it was worth it. I still prefer the 1.25 pound lobster and just get 2. The steamers were expensive $20 for just a pound and will definitely not order it again.. but the clam chowder was great. For $125, it was too much money, we were satisfied but was hungry a few hours later. But its bar harbor, nothing is cheap and you have a great view of the Cadillac mountain. I live part time in Maine, so this review may have been biased because there's plenty of other places that's cheaper than this spot.

I chose Downeast because I've heard good things about it. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my twin lobster combo (two smaller lobsters with corn & butter, $30 altogether). My husband had the $36 lobster melt, which someone else reviewed poorly and I sort of understand why. The lobster melt definitely seems to be overpriced. It's hard to understand why it's $6 more than the twin lobster combo. But they must price them with enough reasons. I'm not running the business, so I'm just looking at it from a customer's perspective.

Well worth a stop and a very welcome addition to the gap between Trenton and the island…read more What a nice meal and evening here -- not entirely expected because our family here (locals) tend to avoid the lobster pounds as too touristy and often lackluster. But the haddock sandwiches and haddock fish tacos our crowd ordered were excellent -- the batter had genuine subtle flavor that supported the fresh-tasting fish. The chowder was the closest to Grammy's we've had in years, creamy but silken not goopy. Yum! Homemade slaw; fab seasoned-slab-style sweet potato fries cooked just right. Beer selection good and mocktail was great (no one preferred cocktails but there were several punny-named ones and a full bar). Interesting menu had the usual lobster pound options but also some more main-course dishes and an impressive range of fresh oysters. Very much appreciated the upbeat friendliness of everyone from the oyster shucker who greeted us to cashier to servers who delivered to the table. Upstairs had a tree-lined view of water & mountains, a nice surprise and handy sightline from the well-stocked bar and extra seating. Looks like they have a fire pit and corn hole game out back. There was music tonight (I guess on most Fridays & weekends), a trio playing lowkey classics, which made a very pleasant background to our chitchat. Kind of overall beachy vibe and just added to the overall sense of total relaxation after our slightly stressful day. Had to stop in the ice cream shop adjacent, natch. Such a sweet (pun intended) server there, too. Giffords, and more than a dozen flavors. Lots of games for lingering families.
