Tonight we visited Bar Harbor Lobster Bakes on a tour we were on. It was fantastic! I grill lobster tails at home but this was a whole different experience. The dining room is spacious and inviting with a great view of the bay (where your lobsters come from). We got a whole lobster, an ear of corn, roll, small potato, along with orders of mussels and clam chowder. You can have wine and beer as an accompaniment. The mussel were steamed and seasoned to perfection. We have had a lot of lobster visiting Maine but this lobster was delicious! You may need assistance with cracking the whole lobster. Staff is happy to help and attentive. Owner Heather is a gracious and friendly host. Desert was a blueberry cake. A wonderful dining experience. Cheers.

Was here for a wedding reception and it all worked out well. We had a great area for our party and the staff was very welcoming and attentive. I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese and it was very good. I loved their Bloody Mary. So so good and spicy! My husband had the steak and he loved it. Only down side was that the steaks come out so late that the rest of the party that didn't have steak was almost done with here food or ended up eating cold food because they waited for the steaks. Overall the location was beautiful and well maintained. Would stop by again when in the area.

This is the best lobster roll and bisque on the island. I was waiting for my food to go and the service was excellent.

Bar Harbor Lobster Bakes was our very first stop after a long day's drive from the White Mountains, and honestly, it set the tone for our whole Maine adventure. Even the wind tried to crash our dinner, but the food more than made up for it. We started with the lobster bisque, which my husband took very seriously -- he ordered bisque everywhere we went in Maine and appointed himself an unofficial judge. Verdict here? Top contender. The lobster tail was fresh, buttery perfection, and that sweet corn on the cob might've been the best I've ever had (sorry, Midwest). Our server was an absolute gem -- friendly, funny, and full of great tips. She even told us to check out the beach across the street, where I found my very first piece of sea glass. Bottom line: great food, lovely people, and a seaside charm that makes you forget the wind's trying to steal your napkin.

We were craving lobster!! And we saw a sign on the side of the road for twin lobsters for $35. So we had to get it!!! I got the twin lobsters. And my boyfriend got the Downeast Lobster Bake, which is a full lobster with clam chowder and mussels and blueberry cake. My twin lobsters were INCREDIBLE. I ate ALL OF IT! They made the lobster to perfection. Juicy and tender and soft! I do like my lobster with lots of lemon. And I had to ask for extra lemons twice bc they only gave me a couple slices at a time. So I was a little disappointed about that. The clam chowder was okay. Good but there wasn't much clams in there so I probably wouldn't get it again. The mussels were okay, they were not flavorful. The blueberry cake was delicious. If we go again, I think my boyfriend and I will stick to simplicity and both order twin lobsters!

Early bird special so good we did back to back days!

With so many lobster serving restaurants in this general area to choose from we found this 1 w high reviews & took a chance on and did not disappoint. We started w a Pinot Noir wine very good taste, a delicious healthy baked haddock filet w corn, slaw & tartar sauce then the main event a 1.5# Maine lobster dinner with side of Mac n cheese plus butter our server Jordan H she kindly assisted us taking the meat from tail, claws & knuckle out. We sat @ an outside table watching the waterfront. Ambiance felt private. Plenty of free parking available. I rate 4.5 stars. The temperature here in northern Bar harbor Maine was a constant 45 degrees at night also from this point Nova Scotia, Canada (Titanic departure port) hi speed ferry service was available thru Sept. 22nd. The people here are truly kind, hospitable as well.

It was just OK. We arrived and there were cars in the parking lot, so we figured it would be good. It was also recommended by our campground check-in person. There were a lot of people because there was a wedding rehearsal going on. There weren't any other customers. The service was good. We were seated promptly and the waitress was friendly and prompt. The food was mixed. The chowder was pretty good. We shared a whole lobster meal. The lobster was overcooked and rubbery/tough. We were very disappointed as this was our first meal in Maine and it was rather expensive. I have had much better lobster on cruise ships and at home getting tails from Publix. We will try another place because they certainly can't all be this bad.

Lobster roll was good, but nothing life changing. I wouldn't go out of my way for this lobster. Mussels were mussels, good, but very plain. Now what I WOULD go out of my way for was that incredible Blueberry Pie and Blueberry Ice Cream. Best way to end the day. Walked right in at 7:30 on a Monday in Mid-October. Big place, but the ambience wasn't anything too special. A fun vibe and nice view!

Before we made our trip out to Maine I had save a few places to try one of them was Maine Lobster Bakes. I didn't realize it was even on my list until I looked it up to leave a review. We just stopped because we were so hungry after our drive up. Totally worth it. Friendly, Fast and Food was perfect.

Sweet Baby Jesus. If…read moreyou're the sort of person who requires cloth napkins, tasteful lighting and a waiter named Chad who explains the provenance of every pea on your plate, don't go here. But if you want honest food at today's prices, pull up a chair. The lobster roll was a revelation. Not that mayonnaise-based lobster purée somebody scraped out of a tub and smeared onto a bun that had been sitting around since the Carter administration. This was real chunks of lobster, lightly seasoned, piled onto a fresh roll and left alone to taste like lobster. Then came the steamers. Sweet mercy. Those steamers were the best thing I have tasted since 1974, and I'm not entirely sure what happened in 1974, but apparently somebody knew how to steam a clam. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive and without the usual modern-day restaurant ritual of wondering whether your server has forgotten you exist. The décor? Let's just say aging fish camp chic. If you're looking for polished brass and a chandelier imported from France, keep driving. If you want the feeling that somebody might walk in carrying a cooler full of flounder, you're home. For the love of all that is holy, give this place a try. Come hungry. Leave happy. And if you encounter a cloth napkin, somebody has probably made a terrible mistake

We visited this great…read moreplace on our first night, we had lobster rolls and clam chowder that was exceptional, with generous portions and priced fairly. The employees were fun and they made the experience nicer. The next day it was time for lunch and my husband said lets go back to the Traveling Lobster, I said (and later regretted) no let's try somewhere else. We tried a place with a catchy lobster name and the teenage boy, behind the counter of the takeout as he handed us our change said, you're leaving me a tip - right? In unison we both said no. I added we don't tip workers at McDonalds, we're not tipping you and even if we did, we wouldn't tip you because of your demand, he walked away nonplussed, to add insult to injury the food was mediocre for the price. Later that afternoon we tried another lobster stand, and it was worse; the food was terrible for the price, we ordered a side of lobster mac and cheese and there was not a shred of lobster in it, we ended up taking it back and getting our money. Starving, we went back to the Traveling Lobster and had another great meal, listened to trivia and left satisfied. What we learned is if a stand isn't busy or has few cars, don't bother, there's a reason. By all means go the Travelin Lobster, the parking lot is busy, the line moves fast and the food comes out fast and excellent, the employees don't attempt to shame you into tipping them and when you order lobster mac and cheese, you get plenty of lobster. I also learned that my sweet husband is sometimes right :).

Great outdoor atmosphere, kid friendly, sit and relax under and massive shade canopy, away form the road, includes outdoor service.. (not just another roadside "lobsta" shop with a folding table on the edge of a parking lot) . OK- good vibe on property and location, I don' at all mind a walk-up window to order....saves money, time and you know exactly how many orders are in front of you. All good, but how is the food ? Family of 4 - We ordered a bit of everything for sharing....Lobster dinner to start...super fresh, large 2 + pounder bathed in hot butter.....add a side of lobster nachos....OMG, good call. Not a fan of corn on the cob, but the kids loved it. I am happy. Next .I ordered a straight up lobster roll - hot, butter only, No skimp on the lobster (see picture) with a added side of coleslaw which was a pleasant surprise....made fresh daily with owners secret recipe (he would not share BTW). ), I added garlic aioli sauce to everything because this place understands all food is enhanced with either hot butter or home-made aioli sauce....(never mayo) My kids binge ate french fri's which have a light coating, crispy and hot while they each ate lobster tacos...What the heck ? A Taco in Maine ? Delicious....all the way. Again no skimping on the lobster meat. Then came the real test.....a virtual dark horse (no they do not serve "horse") .The Ice Cream Boat (which also has a stern full of fresh blueberry pie). All locally made, fresh and large portions. I left 5 pounds heavier, asked my wife to drive so I could nap in the back of the rental car. Thanks to owners for a great food experience that represents Maine !

Needless to say, we found ourselves at the Chart Room on more than one occasion. Happy hour on the pier is a must do. The view coupled with half price drinks and apps can't be beat. We always meet great people who are visiting just like us. One evening we had dinner there as well. My wife had the Baked Stuffed Haddock, and I had the Chicken Broccoli Alfredo. Both dishes were absolutely delicious. Large portions, excellent presentation and at a price I expect to pay at a five-star restaurant on the coast of Maine. What I feel is the highlight of our experience at the Chart Room was the staff. Everything started with James the General Manager and Jamie, the Booking Manager. We appreciate all their help before we even arrived there. There were several members of the wait staff that were amazing as well. Some that we've seen each season when we visit. Chris, Presley, Val, Miranda and Lexi are just a few of them. Our bartender Jamie was equally amazing. Ellen enjoyed a couple unique drinks that Jamie had added a small twist to. The drink order was taken first as the family looked over the food menu further. Lots of blueberry themed drinks to fit the Maine theme. I had the Grapefruit & Rosemary Spritz. I liked it, it was a tad too bitter for me. Grapefruit and lime juice together will do that. My brother had the Alfredo dish. He is not a fan of seafood in the slightest. His portion was HUGE. It was a dish that could have been split, instead he had leftovers for a different day. My parents stuck to their goal of having as much Maine Lobster as they could. The lazy lobster option is always appreciated by vacation goers. I went with the halibut. I really like halibut and this was my favorite halibut filet I've had. The carrots were also bigger than most carrots I have had in my life. The fries were an awesome complementary side. I ate everything on my plate and enjoyed every second of the food coma I was in the rest of the night. Our waitress was attentive to our dietary needs. She was very passionate and informative about the seafood offerings. The halibut I had was from the Maine waters, which is a rarer due to the limited time US fishermen can get halibut. Glad I got some! If you have the opportunity to have the halibut, go for it! Awesome spot. I appreciate the gluten free options and the mocktails. The mocktail was the least favorite part of my meal. Hood but more bitter than I anticipated. Overall, amazing. Food, ambience and service. All of it!

Miss Elizabeth B (6/25 Review),…read more I appreciate the time you took to go scorched earth on your recent review of Table Salt in Bar Harbor, ME. It was a motivating factor to visit the establishment, enjoy a lovely meal in a lovely town, and tip heavily. You claim to be a culinary source of authority. I think it's great that you own a Subway franchise in New York City, but I might hesitate from throwing around the word 'chef' too haughtily. I mean just because one wears a cowboy hat does not mean one owns cattle, am I right? Perhaps there were dishes on the menu that one could argue were overengineered, but they tasted great! And consider that you have no idea where in the culinary journey their chef is, nor what the market needs or will bear in Bar Harbor. The place was packed. Service was great. Food was divine! On a Tuesday night. Maybe next time you visit a restaurant, leave your Michelin yardstick in the trunk of your broomstick, and simply relax. Or possibly return to Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop, another establishment you experienced through your Vantablack-colored glasses and blew up on this site. I'm sure they would zealously rent you another bike if you promised to venture into Acadia and get lost. Cheers!
