Service was slightly above average compared to other retailers. I was a lenscrafters client for several years until now that I have a new vision plan. The space is a bit outdated, would definitely benefit from some remodeling/upgrading. Scheduling an appointment was easy and hassle free. Doctor Wong was extremely friendly, approachable and always had a smile. Made you feel comfortable thru the process. Parking can be tricky as you have to go through a tiny driveway that is right next to the driveway to go into the neighboring high school. Parking space is limited in the back. I did like they explained to me and broke it down what co pays and what I pay out of pocket for each type of lens, frames and add ons. I did not like that I did not receive my prescription report, they retained the info. At lens crafterst they would print it out and hand me a copy. All in all, this is a decent place to get your eye exam and they did have a large selection of frames. Can't go wrong by choosing this place. read more

Dr. Wong has been my optometrist since 2005, I love him to pieces. He reminds me of Mr. Rodgers. So sweet and calm. He tells stories etc. As far as eyesight, he makes sure you're getting the right prescription! If you're afraid of an optometrist forcing glasses, not to worry. He's well aware of the fads. He told me kids often fail their eye tests on purpose to get glasses. He extensively tests children. Awesome Doc! read more

I am so happy I found this place I have seen both Dr. Stein and Dr. Wong and both are always very thorough and take time to ask your concerns and answer questions. I have never felt like I'm being given glasses so that they can make a sale on the contrary they recommended no glasses and if I felt like I did need them, to come back. I have been seeing Dr. Wong since I was a kid - he is super awesome! I also had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Stein for the first time recently and he was equally awesome and nice! I also love going here because they have a large selection of designer eyewear. I like to have choices and its fun to try on different styles. Having designer wear also means you have to pay more $$, but they do have inexpensive options. Although small, there always seems to be a parking spot available in their parking lot, behind their building. They are located literally right next to the high school parking lot, which makes the parking entrance hard to find at first. read more

I hate to give this business below 5 stars but collectively speaking, the office staff sucks: they are unprofessional and provide close to terrible customer service as other patients have said. Raul is cool - he is helpful when you ask for help but won't go out of his way before that. It seems like Valerie does the bare minimum and then makes me feel like I'm bothering her when I need something. My sister, who is also a patient there, feels similarly. It is a great pleasure every time I come to Downey Eyecare. The staff is so very friendly and they go above and beyond to assist me in any needs or concerns I might have. I absolutely love Dr. Wong! He is very patient, informative and thorough... Downey Eyecare has a wide selection of frames and at a reasonable cost! I travel a little over an hour for not only the wonderful service they provide but the genuine care and time I receive from the employees and doctor. I've been coming here for about 20 years now. I can't say it enough, this place is top notch. The Doctors, the Staff and selection they offer is superb. Terrible customer service I called today to make a payment towards my balance and they put me on hold for 11 min before I even got to say anything I hung up and called again I told the girl I needed to make a payment she took my information said she would get a total and would call me back 30 min pass no call so of course I call back and tell a different girl that I'm waiting for a call back from the other girl and she says oh we got busy so I'm like ok I understand so she puts me on hold to get me to the girl that was supposed to call me back 4 min later she gets on and says oh I didn't get a chance to get ur total I can call u back or u can just pay when u pick up ur glasses then I tell her but I haven't paid anything not even a deposit does that effect you from ordering and she said oh yea so she puts me on hold again to get my total comes back $50 higher then initial day but I said fine whatever I just need to get my glasses ordered since I don't have any other pair she takes down my card number I'm thinking she putting it in the system no she wrote down my card information then tells me she is busy and will not be able to process at the moment and will call me back today to let me know she has processed so now it's 9pm they are closed and my card was never processed my glasses have not been ordered read more

I spent almost 400.00 on my six year old glasses less than a month ago. two days after i picked them up the screw holding the arm came off. I took it in they screwed it back on.I asked the girl helping me to tighten the other side as well to avoid it happening to the other side. she said she had, now 2 weeks later the other side fell off and my cbild does not recall where...I called the downey eye care center and was told i can by another frame at full cost to replace the arm that fell....they have poor customer service and in my opinion apparently poor quality frames. ..... read more

I have been to this office a few time for my exam and contact fitting. The staff is very friendly, the doctors take time and work with you and overall the service is good. Getting into the parking lot can be a little challenging at first, there is a very small driveway and parking lot in the back. The facility is small but neat and looks organized. read more

This place was great at first then it just started going down hill. Started charging me for eye exams that WAS NOT supposed to be charged! The staff starting becoming very rude especially the one charge Jessica! They had changed staff and there was a new girl I have never seen helped me named Princess!? Anyways came for my appointment, told me I have no insurance here when I have been coming for 10YEARS! I clearly called my insurance, apparently Princess didn't know what she was doing and of course I told her you don't know what your doing! I went to Dr. Wongs office a to get a pair of Tiffany & Co prescription glasses , paid extra to get my glasses thinned out. I noticed that my glasses were still left very thick I Decided to go take them back and asked if they could thin out my glasses even more because it didn't seem like they had done it the first time. They tried to convince me that my glasses seemed fine , but I still wasn't satisfied.. then they explained to me that I had to pay again (2nd time) to get them thinner.. then they explained to me that I asked to get them thinner but that there was another feature to get them to be the thinnest and that I hadn't asked for that which was total BS! If I would had known that there was another feature to get the thinnest lens possible I would had paid for that in the first place. But it was never explained to me!!! So I had to pay an extra 76 dollars for something that they didn't do in the first place.. I was furious!! This place is horrible if there was an option to not leave a star I would have selected it , but there wasn't!!!! Also there staff is very unprofessional.... they need to train there employees better!!! read more

Started going here about five years ago on referral and I have been extremely pleased with my experiences. My optometrist, Dr. Wong has seen me through two pregnancies and has aided in keeping my eyes healthy through the challenges that hormonal changes have on every part of your body, including the eyes. He is patient and professional. I love how personable everyone in the office is. They get to know you personally and call you by name when you walk in. This also transfers to phone calls. They ask about you personally which makes you feel as if you're more than just an insurance number. My recent visit resulted in a contact fitting. Veronica, the office assistant and Dr. Choi, both assisted me with becoming comfortable with the idea of touching my eye; inserting and extracting the contacts. They spent well over the allotted hour with me and it was much appreciated. read more
