Downtown Container Park hosts a Family Movie Night every Thursday night (this weekly event started…read morein April). Movies are slated to begin around 7 to 7:30PM, although when I attended the movie didn't kick off until around 8PM. Basically they waited until sunset to start the movie. Families are invited to bring blankets and chairs and spread out across the grassy area in front of the projection screen. The movie is set up towards the rear of the park, behind the large playground and in front of the stationary train. To help patrons endure the heat, large fans with misters are placed on both sides of the grassy area. I wouldn't say the fans helped much, though. On this occasion, Ghostbusters was playing and it was a full house. I'd recommend coming early to ensure you get a good spot. Here's the upcoming schedule for August: 8/6 - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom 8/13 - Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade 8/20 - Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 8/27 - The Dark Knight Rises Projection quality and volume was perfectly fine. While the sound and picture quality were good, the odor, aging seats, and limited space affected the overall experience. I hope these issues can be addressed because the theater has the potential to provide a much better experience for its guests.

We have a specific assigned date that we attend these performances but the theater is very flexible if you need to change your date from time to time. I paid I believe $265 for the whole season which includes six plays. Pricing is very reasonable. The theater was founded in 1978 by Jack Bell and Jack Nickolson. It is the oldest running theater in Las Vegas. Location is in China Town at a strip mall and there is plenty of parking. The main stage holds approximately 100 seats and there is another smaller theater that holds about 50 seats. The theater is intimate and not too big. Acoustics are excellent. The lobby is well decorated with posters from past plays, there is a small snack bar, restrooms and some furniture to sit on should you arrive a little early for your show. LVLT is run by volunteers and donations. So far, we have had a good experience with all the plays. The actors are very talented, the stage and lighting are excellent. I love that after each show all the actors gather in the lobby with their donation boxes and it gives the patrons a chance to interact with each of them. My only complaint is the chairs that you sit in are just awful. I find myself constantly changing positions just to be comfortable. I am always grateful for an intermission so I can get up from these wicked chairs. I try to make a donation each time I visit in hopes that they will purchase new chairs (fingers crossed). If you are looking for a way to support your local theater and the arts, then this is the place.

Tucked away in Chinatown just off Spring Mountain (behind The Golden Tiki), this charming community theater is easy to find and has plenty of parking in the large plaza lot. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this place is built on passion and creativity. You enter the lobby with a will-call window, posters from past shows decorating the walls, a small café counter for drinks and snacks, and even a few comfy couches if you arrive early. There's also a fun celebrity photo wall perfect for snapping a quick picture before the show. The theater itself seats maybe 120-150 people, which makes every seat feel close to the action. I went to see "The Shark Is Broken" and was absolutely blown away. The stage set perfectly captured the cramped boat cabin from the weathered boards to the tiny space where the actors were "stuck" together for the entire play. It felt so authentic that you almost forgot you were sitting in a theater and not drifting out at sea with them. The acting was phenomenal. The three man cast completely embodied their real-life counterparts. They nailed the personalities, the tension, and even the subtle mannerisms. You could absolutely imagine these exact conversations happening between the original Jaws actors as they waited for yet another broken mechanical shark to be fixed. The mix of humor, frustration, and camaraderie was so believable it felt like being a fly on the wall during the chaotic making of a cinematic legend. After the show, the actors came out to the lobby to chat and take photos, which was such a nice personal touch. You can really tell how much heart and dedication goes into every production here. This little theater has been part of the Las Vegas arts community for over 40 years, and it's truly a gem worth supporting. Located in the bustling Arts District, this place is an absolute gem in every sense of the word! Having just returned from a holiday trip to London where we splurged on $600 tickets and saw the new "Cabaret" revival on the West End, we were intrigued to see the same musical being performed locally right here in Las Vegas. We decided to buy the $50 VIP tickets to check it out. Now I know you guys won't believe me when I tell you this, but the MRT production was almost just as good as the West End production. Yes, I am serious. The MRT singers and dancers were terrific, and while the production values were charmingly low-budget, they did a lot with very, very little. I still cannot believe the bargain price of our tickets, as we were seated at a small table very close to the stage. I'm not sure how the seating is laid out for other productions, but the venue is so intimate that there isn't a bad seat in the house. It did look like the regular seating was a bit crammed thought, so I'd recommend paying extra for the VIP table if you're able. Parking was a bit of a pain since its the Arts District, but we managed. Make sure you pay for extra time when you park because the meter police WILL get you. I don't' know how they always seem to know, but we have had our fair share of parking tickets downtown, LOL. Again: make sure you overpay for parking! You have been warned! The theater is located near so many groovy bars and restaurants, so it's easy to make a night of it both pre-show and after-party. Go down early for dinner and drinks, then stay later for a couple of cocktails or beers at one of the stellar local bars next door. The theater also has a small concession cooler up front with pre-packaged drinks. The theater itself has a small snack bar (buy a soda or a surprisingly tasty canned wine or beer to at least to help 'em keep the doors open, we did) and a teeny lobby. We checked in with the cheerful, welcoming hostess and she directed us to our table. There's one very small bathroom in the venue, so go as soon as you arrive or you'll be waiting in a very long line to pee. They did not provide table service, we had to go get our own drinks and bring them back to our seat. The sound and lighting was very good during the production of "Cabaret," and we were just blown away by the talent and quality of the performers. The costumes and choreography were charmingly low budget, but it really added to the overall experience. The venue puts on all sorts of shows all year, and we can't wait to return. As two former theater kids and total pop culture nerds, my hubby and I are SOLD on this place. We will continue to support them in the future, and I can't wait to attend more events. We actually just went to their holiday original musical production, "The Blanche DeBris Emergency Xmas Broadcast" and just loved how fun and goofy it was! When we arrived there was still plenty of seating, but there was only one screen by one pool, and we couldn't see the movie from other areas. I am so glad we chose to not get a daybed. The Horn is a large venue while the BackStage is the black box, smaller performing space. The college presents a variety of shows from musicals to dance to dramas. Tomorrow night, I'll be attending my first show of the new season, "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead." Ticket prices are very reasonable and the performances are quite good. The staff of the box office is very competent and friendly!

Featured were some short interpretative modern dance sketches and the ballet "Xenia Goes West." Besides being a fine production of modern dance and a moving ballet that told the true story of Madame Xenia Chlistowa, the teen-aged Prima Ballerina of the Kirov Ballet who was eventually captured and escaped a concentration camp to resume her professional career and ultimately reach the United States, the auditorium itself was a fine venue to host such a production. A nice fabric curtain rose to reveal a spacious, clean stage with a lip that rested below all audience sight lines except for the first three rows of seats. I was seated in the fifth row, and had a great view of the entire stage. There, corps de ballet members and featured performers danced before a large screen that depicted filmed black-and-white images of uniformed Nazi soldiers on the move into Russia, and some Holocaust concentration camp footage as a backdrop. Sound and lighting were good, and seats were mostly comfortable, with cushioned surfaces but hard arm rests made of wood. About 1,000 seats filled the capacious auditorium that impressively soared to the heavens, albeit with no balcony. It was a different and enjoyable way to spend a Saturday night.

The performance was great with lots of witty humor, sexual innuendos, and jabs at America's politicians. Many laughs were had! The theatre itself is small and intimate, seating roughly 40 people. Seating is first come first serve, but honestly there was not a bad seat in the house. I found the chairs to be fairly comfortable, especially with the provided chair cushions and legroom that was ideal for tall persons. No outside beverages or food is allowed, but they do have a small concession stand with a few snack options and all sorts of alcoholic & nonalcoholic beverages available for purchase. My husband and I were impressed by some of the unique craft beers they offered, so we each tried one - the total for 2 craft beers being $17 after tip. The venue appears to open approximately 15 minutes before showtime and there are clean restrooms close by, down the hall. All staff members were extremely friendly and seemed genuinely happy with the support from us theatre goers. This is a great little theatre in the Arts District! I can't believe it took us so long to finally attend a show here, but I'm sure glad we finally came. We'll definitely be back... likely next month for their spooky Halloween play!

There are 4 shows that we get to do them all. The first was the Dino one. Catacombs was the second one, then Fun house, and the monster one to finish it. We were by ourselves for all but one of them. In all, we spent about 30 minutes here. They seemed underwhelming for me but I think it would be a good family activity. I did enjoy the last one.
