I don't know why I keep coming back to this outrageous high price place. My Yorkie is less than 5lbs and it cost me more than my mani-pedi. Don't get me wrong I'll do anything for my dog, he's like my kid, but it too much. I didn't like the hair cut today and think their prices are to higher for a dog this size; call me fussy. I guess next time I'll make the sacrifice and drive north back to his original groomer who is a lot more affordable and do a much better job with keeping the yorkie look. On the flip side they're really nice. Terrible experience. Had a 2pm appointment this afternoon to have my Aussie groomed. 30 minutes after dropping him off, I received a call that he has a "cough" and I needed to come pick him up. Why would they wait 30 minutes into his appointment to tell me this? Shouldn't that have been noticed right away? After picking him up, I inspect the dog and he is completely normal. No sign of a cough at all. I asked the groomer to show me what she was talking about, and she could barely put a sentence together. Seems like maybe she didn't want to do her job today. By far the worst customer service I've received from their manager Joey. Our dogs were boarded for a week and we paid for a brush out for 3 times during their stay. When we picked them up, they had severe matting and even the attendant agreed when we pointed it out. When I spoke with the manager Joey he did absolutely nothing to appease us. I had a really great experience bringing my dog here for a nail trim that deserves to be celebrated in the era of covid-19. My dog is really nervous around groomers, vets, and in general just leaving me, however the groomer did a great job making him feel comfortable. Boarded my dog here over a holiday weekend. When I arrived to pick him up, they brought out the wrong dog. Twice. I finally had to go in the back to find him and there were dogs EVERYWHERE. Some not even in kennels. I finally found him in the wrong kennel but it was concerning that they could not find him. And if he wasn't in the right kennel was he being given someone else's food? There have also been a few instances where he's come back from daycare with mysterious scratches/cuts and small injuries. No one at the front desk could tell me what happened. read more

The report card this time was stellar and her haircut turned out adorable; perfectly even and with little details like keeping her eyelashes long and making a little part in her tail. I initially took my two senior Chihuahuas to DDL last Fall because I wanted to try another grooming service for nail trims and have continued to go there ever since. I had been giving them baths myself because most groomers want you to drop your dogs off and "we will call you in about 4 hours". While that may be okay for many dogs, my seniors girls have some serious health issues as one would expect for older dogs and getting stressed out sitting in a cage for hours is not good for them. I love that I can drop in first thing on a Saturday morning and the longest I have had to wait is an hour. My groomer (Beau) has been very understanding that's it's hard for me to leave them for long and he is kind and attentive to their needs. He does a wonderful job and I have been very happy with his quality work. The rest of the staff and management have always been very welcoming and friendly too. The dogs I see come out to the waiting area whether they have been groomed or were in daycare seem very happy! If there are little accidents in the waiting area I have seen the staff clean them up right away as well. Also, every now and then I get surveys and you get $5 off your next service when you complete them. I think it is always helpful to provide feedback when asked and I appreciate the coupon in today's economy. Thank you for caring about my little girls and keep up the fantastic work! read more

Enjoyed taking my dog here until, when I started boarding him, I'd get non-emergency phone calls about his mildly bad behavior, like being skiddish around a handler. "Other than that, he's perfectly fine but we can set you up with a trainer." Ok, if I get a call from the dog boarding company, I will immediately assume it's an emergency, like death or injury. It wasn't. And then they tried to get business out of it by connecting me with an in-house trainer. Dudes, I paid a lot of money to leave my dog in the trust of DT Dog Lounge because I was on an important business trip that required extreme focus, I don't need multiple non-emergency phone calls. if I could give them less than 1 stay I would... I dropped off Sake on Thursday last week because i was going out of town. I had been impressed by the evaluation they had done for her and after seeing the facilities and meeting the people I thought she would be happy there. I picked her up this morning, she seemed a little thin when I saw her but that didn't ring any warning bells ....Then I saw her right eye, it was covered in mucus and she could barely see. I took her home and cleaned her up. However the mucus wouldn't stop. Finally I gave up and called the vet. We went in only to be told she had conjunctivitis. I was really upset, at $45 a day + tax I don't expect my dog to contract anything. I immediately went over to DDL and informed them about what had happened. I was told the manager of the store would call me tomorrow. However i am really disappointed in this place and feel like I spent a lot more money with a sick dog now. Poor Sake spent the entire day recuperating... and I am worried I might get it since it is highly contagious, All in all , I would NOT recommend DDL to anyone and please be careful before you put your dog here either for daycare or boarding. read more

I'm pretty bummed to have to write a one star review on DDL but their lack of accountability and responsibility made me feel that I have to let other aware of their poor service and professionalism. Here is the email I sent to the general info (12/23/15) and to manager Kyle (12/26/15). Email: "I had a reservation to drop off my dog Blaze this morning at 5am. I arrived at 445 with a note on the door, indicating to call the phone number 206.234.7166. I called this number, along with the Elliot Bay phone number, repeatedly for someone to answer the door. (See attached screen shot of phone log). After 30 minutes of calling and knocking, nobody answered and I had no choice but then to frantically leave and figure out my situation - as it was after 5am and i have a 7 am flight out of Seatac. I had to rush to find someone to come to my place, get my dog, and have this person attempt to drop my dog off at DDL... at 5 in the morning. If I hadnt found someone, I wouldve missed my flight to visit my parents for the holidays. I have came to DDL many times over this past year and have had no issues with your services. I'm also thrilled to see that there will be DDL opening in SLU. But today was nearly a deal breaker for me, as i called the phone number listed on the door at 530am with no luck. So right after, I called the office line and a gal named Cynthia answered the phone. (Same name as the voice mail box of 206.234.7166). She apologized for not hearing her cell phone... that I had just called.. a dozen times." As of today, nobody has responded acknowledging their mistake. I am only looking for an "I'm sorry this happened; we'll try our best to not happen again".... but nothing. Isn't this her responsibility to answer her cell phone for early drop-off? Isn't the point of making a reservation, indicating I will be dropping off my dog at 5am, so someone will be there to open and door or answer the early hours phone? Isn't it courtesy to respond to an email, acknowledging that this employee made a mistake and they will remediate so it hopefully does not happen again? Considering I've spent ~$2,000 in 2015 to board my dog at DDL. I'll have to find another place, even if it is inconvenient and more expensive because I NEED a reliable and respectable boarding place for my dog. read more

This place is like taking your dog to the pound while paying Ritz Carlton Prices! The owner of this place is laughing all the way to the bank!!!! I would NEVER take my two dogs there EVER again! The staff is rude and has no idea what the hell they are doing. My dog came home completely sick. One of my dogs kept peeing in the house b/c he was so used to peeing anywhere. The smell and the barking was horrifying. I swear the animal Shelter down the street is more humane than this place. I feel sick to my stomach that we left our two dogs at such a horrible place. We never saw our dogs on the web cam I don't think they were ever let out of their kennels. I'm happy they made it home alive. I think this place should be shut down!! read more

Sadly, I regret taking my dog here. We've been before and it was okay. However, we just left our dog for one night, agreed to pay extra for two walks, and were shocked when we picked him up. As we picked him up, they said they could not walk him because his shots were out of date and them put him in isolation. First of all, I confirmed on the phone before dropping him off that all shots were current and that he needs exercise so the walks were extremely important. Then, today I check my credit card statement and they charged $40 over what we signed for when we picked him up. Their claim is that they charged extra for the isolation and late pick up, etc. He was not supposed to be isolated and we already paid extra for the late pick up (included in earlier quote). Paying $120 for our dog to be in isolation for two days is not what I call a good deal. Recommend looking elsewhere before using this kennel. The management seems disorganized and we have yet to get a straight answer regarding the care or the charges. read more

I had two dogs boarded here over the weekend and have had mixed feelings about all it had to offer, and in sum total have come to the following conclusions: 1) people in reviews seem unhappy with the grooming cuts; we didn't get that done, just a bath and brush at the end of their stay. They were clean and happy when we picked them up and that was all we wanted. 2) People say this place stinks. Well it does, literally, smell not as good as it should, and here's why. I watched a lot of webcam and made sure I checked on how the dogs were being cared for, and whether cleaning was being done. It was - and frequently - I kept seeing people coming and going with the mops and the cleaning fluid bottles. The problem is not the staff, but the facility itself. I really don't feel that this building is ventilated enough. It needs to be improved. Also, the dog grooming area is central to the back area and open, instead of contained off to a particular part of the building, so the smell of wet dog and dampness seems more pervasive than it should. I checked the floors when I went before I dropped the dogs off and they do keep the floors clean. It's just they really need better setup for this; perhaps with better outtake fan systems for starters. 3) The caretakers all seem kind and friendly and good with the animals, but need to be more mindful of what needs to happen with which dogs when. Granted it was Labor Day Weekend, very busy, lots of dogs, but for us there were a couple odd mistakes. 4) We asked that our two dogs be placed in the same space if possible. There were no large enough spaces to house our two dogs together - because we had a plastic airport carrier and a dog bed for the other dog that totaled too much space. We were told that couldn't happen, but that they would crate the dogs next to each other. They didn't. We found them with some other dog in between them for the night. Not a huge mistake, but not what we wanted. 5) The really weird thing that happened was that I saw another dog in our crate at a time when our dogs were out of the room. I could see not only that it was not my dog and it was my crate, but that the dog was too big for our crate. It was pacing and uncomfortable. That didn't last long however, and soon a supervising guy came in and they put that dog in his right crate. Apparently it was just a mixup. I then was concerned that my dog's blanket in the crate might have been peed on by some other dog. Well, it wasn't in there! I saw them put the blanket in later. At least my dog had her proper crate and blanket by the time bedtime came. 6) When we came home, this blanket didn't get put back in the crate, and we will have to go back again and get it. Very inconvenient. I hope it was because they washed it. Another small mistake. 7) What did annoy me though was the first night my elderly dog was in his crate in the night camera and I thought he had his cushion in there with him, as I'd asked them to do. In the morning, I found the cushion was not in there - he'd slept on the metal crate floor all night, perhaps because there was no crate space big enough for it. Just leaving him off any cushioning is not a solution I would have chosen as a staff member, as that's important for older dogs' joints. 8) The second night, I couldn't see them. I don't know where they were. Hm. Upper deck cam is really crap at night. Regardless of the above, the dogs seemed cheerful while they hung out with the other dogs (I saw a lot of tail wagging on camera in the morning), and when they came home, they were not stressed or pulling their leashes to get out, or any other symptom that showed they didn't like they place. They actually seemed normal and happy and pleased. They didn't go bonkers with desperation when they saw us, it was just 'Oh you're back, are we going out? Yay!.' So I think they were basically just fine. Ultimately I think this: I like the people, they were dealing with a new computer program that was a challenge, and it was a really busy weekend. BUT: they need better spaces, bigger spaces, better ventilation, and more light in the spaces. I think what I really don't like is the facility. Somebody give them some money to make improvements. And staff should make it clear what can and can't be done to cater to owners' particular wishes. Be completely up-front. For funky Seattle I think they're doing an ok job. In LA, these mistakes would have created major negative buzz. Just know this and improve those points. read more

DDL is the superb. I've been taking Dior there for two years plus and there facilities are always clean with a welcoming face at the desk. There boarding is in a class of its own. Leaving your fur-baby with them leaves you knowing they'll be loved and cared for as you would, if not better. Every dog there looks like they're enjoying the stay. Barb truly loves her fur-babies and is quite talented when it comes to grooming. She is the most gentle groomer we've met. She also personalized and tailored the appointment making process to make it extremely simple for us. I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for one of Seattle's best dog stylist. I took my pom/yorkie mix who's 7 lbs to DDL and had a really bad experience. I don't remember the groomers name, but he was a larger guy. I wanted her short all over, but it was UNEVEN. It was clearly uneven and when i pointed it out - he couldn't even admit that it was uneven. He just said it's never going to be even. I understand that it's challenging to give dogs cut - but I've seen way better than what he did. Plus he said he had to put a muzzle on her because she didn't like when he messed with her paws. I've taken her to other places, and this never was necessary. He re-did the cut which meant giving her an even shorter cut. His attitude was unapologetic. I wasn't happy after experience and I've decided to take my business elsewhere. read more

I started taking my one year old large dog to this facility about a month ago. At first I was impressed with how trendy the facility was and how friendly the staff was. However after bringing my dog here about 12 times for daycare, I realize that DTDL relies mainly on marketing and superficiality to attract customers rather than focusing on the actual care/experience of the dogs. The dogs are not let outside at all during the day. There are far too many dogs crowded into a small concrete room with no obstacles or toys (It's just literally a concrete square). I would often check the WebCam for my dog and wouldn't see her anywhere. I had to call twice to ask where she was. It seems she was being kept in a smaller place instead of in the pen with the other dogs. She often came home covered in pee, slobber, or cleaning product and smelled terrible. When I mentioned this they started dowsing her in baby powder before I picked her up. The worst experience I had was that I believe my dog contracted Giardia at downtown dog lounge. When I took her to the vet and told them she goes to downtown dog lounge, the vet told me she likely has Giardia. Apparently this is one of the only doggie daycares is in the city that does not ask for fecal samples. Additionally they require Bordetella twice a year which is completely unnecessary. It's only necessary to get Bordetella once a year, so this is superfluous. The good things about DTDL are that they allow you to pick up late for only a small charge, they don't require appointments, and they usually have some pretty cute pups in the entry way to ogle as you wait for your dog. read more

Jackey is the best groomer ever!!! I have 2 small dogs a Maltese Lhasa Apso and a Poodle Havanese. I have been going to Jackey for years and when I found out she was moving to DDL I had to follow!!! I love the relaxing atmosphere of DDL it's very clean and open. I got a tour of the grooming area and it's so nice!! I love that they have comfy kennels where they can put brother and sister together while waiting for their mommy to get back. We drive from north Lynnwood and she's worth the trip! My dogs love her!! I love this place. I've taken my dog there for a few days of doggie day care and also I have boarded her. I love the fact that they have webcams where you can watch the dogs running around and playing. (Also, when I am out of town, I can call them and tell them to get her in front of the camera so I can see her. I absolutely love that they do that for me!) The staff there is always so nice to me and my dog likes it there. She is a shy dog so she does need to get used to being around so many dogs. I do feel comfortable in leaving here there when I go away on trips. I know she will be taken care of. This location is close to my work so I could drop her off before I go to work and pick her up when I'm done. Oh, there is also another area that is for more calmer dogs. So if you have a shy or an older dog, you can tell them you want you dog to stay in that area. They also have a dedicated puppy area or small dog area. read more

Don't take your dog here for an extended visit and especially DO NOT get your dog groomed here. We boarded our 2 dogs (poodle and shitzu) there over a 2 nights in mid June and also got them both groomed. When we picked them up and got them home, we noticed that our poodle could barely open her right eye. Took her to the vet and was told she had eye infection. Tried antibiotics, back to vet when they didn't work, tried new antibiotics, and eye sort of got better for a few days. Eye the got super cloudy. Back to vet for 3RD TIME and now told she has ulcer on her eye as a result of the infection and might need surgery. Was told the original infection was likely due to them cutting too close to her eye during the grooming. The $$$ keeps building up on us all due to the negligence of the groomers here. ALSO--this isn't the first time we've had a bad groomer experience here. Many years ago we took the poodle there for a grooming and when we picked her up we saw a huge gash on her as a result of being cut with sheers. DDL did give us a refund for that stay. We have never had a problem with results of having them groomed at any other place in both of their lifetimes. It would be nice if DDL would compensate us for the $ we are spending to just get our dog well. read more

They have a small dog area where even a small dog can feel big, two big areas for normal sized dogs and even a super lounge for the dog that feels that no good sleeping minute should be spent moving. Their rates are reasonable. It's a labor intensive thing to look after this many things after all. They gladly give you a tour of the facilities and they clearly know their dogs. We have our Mini Schnauzer's hair cut frequently at Downtown. The cuts aren't always consistent, but they're always good and what we want. Our dog often comes back happy and it seems like she has a good time there. The price is reasonable as while the amount of hair being removed isn't terribly high, our energetic dog doesn't make it the easiest of jobs, and the cut has high potential for mishap. I think if what you want is perfection, hire a private dog groomer or do it yourself, but for pretty much everything else Downtown has it nailed. We've boarded her there before too, but there was a problem. The problem is that they have the webcam at the puppy palace, and it's an absolute productivity killer to watch our dog wander in and out of the camera (*puppy wanders in to the frame* "Awww, there she is")! She made a friend while there, and Downtown gave us a complimentary photo and a good laugh. I'd like to board her a few times more before I really solidify my opinion on the boarding, but the first experience was pretty good and the rate was ok. We'll keep going back to Downtown Dog Lounge, as they've given us a good experience. read more

This place is great! I have taken my mini schnauzer to many many places in the Seattle are to get groomed in the past few years and this place has ended up my #1 spot for him. This location compared to the Capitol Hill one is much closer to work so it's more convenient for me to drop him off and pick him up at lunch, however both are really good. My dog is easy going and is never scared to go there and is happy coming out. They have reasonable prices, friendly staff, they are helpful and understanding with what you would like for your dog. It would be nice ift it cost less, but my dog doesn't need to be groomed AS much per year. I love that my dog seems happy leaving there and comes out wearing a fun bandana every time he get groomed. I'd recommend this place, especially if you have a schnauzer! My lil furry guy looks super handsome today after his haircut! read more

The team was very calm, informative and gave me a full debrief on how he reacted.
