We have been going to a dog groomer in Madison Valley, for over 10 years and they did an outstanding job with our four senior rescue dogs. Our latest rescue doesn't have any hair to groom, only needs her nails trimmed and so since we are a one car family now we decided to look for a groomer closer to home; BIG mistake! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The only redeeming quality about Dogcity is Ashley, who unfortunately wasn't working today when I brought our dog in for a trim.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our dog was abused and abandoned and has trust issues and will shake, whine, cry and crouch low when she's nervous or afraid, but with Ashley she didn't make a sound and didn't shake at all. Ashley did an amazing job on her nails, nice and short, smooth with out any jagged edges and she did it fast. Today from a dog owner's perspective was difficult to stomach as I gave our shaking dog over to someone I didn't know, with the same instructions, "cut them as short as you can." Within minutes I could hear our girl whining from the back room they took her to, as much as I'm not a fan of the grooming salon at big box pet stores, at least they let you see what they are doing to your dog. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Pacing back and forth, listening to her whine and cry was unbearable and if there is a dog equivalent of that scene with Shirley Maclaine at the hospital screaming about her daughter getting her pain meds, this would have been mine.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wanted to rush the gate separating the waiting room from the grooming area, grab our baby and get the hell out of there, but this place only cares about getting paid. When we first went in a couple of months ago it was $25 to get a nail trim, which is reasonable, today they were charging $30 and they wanted the money before the job was even done, which is a huge red flag. Having been burned before by paying before the job was completed, I declined and thank God I did. Our dog's nails were all uneven and jagged like someone had tried to cut them with a dull pair of clippers and they looked worse than when I brought her in. Driving to Madison Valley doesn't look like such an inconvenience now after this fiasco. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Oh, and the extra $5 is probably so the owner or manager can get a cup of coffee delivered to her at the front desk. With a coffee store right across the street and another one on the same block, lazy and entitled seems to perfectly sum up this establishment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]To Ashley, if you ever decide to go elsewhere to work let me know, I would love to have you trim our dog's nails again.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] read more

Kobe, my black and white Shih tzu is 19.5 years young and in spite of his age, is living a healthy slower lifestyle. When we rescued our puppy in September, we knew we would need to find a daycare where he could play, socialize, and just run around with other dogs. The staff at Dog City were great with the temperament test and getting us set up. Our pup, Ryder (7 months now) LOVES going. The staff are wonderful! They know him by name, and when I go to pick him up they usually have already called back to have him brought up front before I step through the door. Thoughtful, Caring and Gentle groomers. We have an old girl who has anxiety and some mobility challenges associated with her age. She has been a long term client of the folks at Dogcity, and goes in for her "day of beauty" once a month as she is a curly haired Portuguese Water Dog. She missed her appointment last month due to her inattentive family, so she was getting out of control. Lots of mats, stinky, long nails and overall unkemptness. We had an appointment rescheduled for the end of April, but she was proving to be a biohazard for herself and us around the house so I called to see if they could get her in early. They are always slammed, but the receptionist consulted with the grooming staff and they squeezed her in today. She went in at 8:30 AM and wasn't done until around 2pm, but not because the groomers were slow. They made it clear that they were going to take their time and give her lots of breaks, as it is hard for her to stand for long periods and they wanted to make sure to manage her anxiety as well as her fatigue. They got her done and put her in a kennel to wait for pickup, but she had an accident then fell down where she had pooped! The staff called and let us know what had happened, and that they were going to rebathe her and have her ready in 30 minutes. Overall a great experience, we are very happy with the service provided and the people we work with there. read more
