This a review of their puppy social. We adopted out little man from the HSSV and wanted to make sure he gets socialized as soon as possible. Most puppy socials in our area were had a cut off of 4 months, which sucks because our kid had to wait for his vaccinations. Lucky for us, and our pup, we found Downtown Dogs and they let pups up to 5 months into their socials. Yay! Registration was a little confusing. I first went to their calendar that didn't show any availability, so I emailed them. They responded within a few hours (fast) explaining the process: 1) You have to fill out a request form by Tuesday to register your pup for the upcoming weekend session. 2) The owner reviews all of the submissions and send out an email on Wednesday to confirm you're in. I'm sure they do it to keep the amount of dogs per staff balanced. 3) The email also includes a link to pay for the class($15 for 45 min.) The payment must be submitted by a certain day to secure your pups spot. Unfortunately the website doesn't save your details and you can't pre-register for bulk sessions. So each week your planing on taking your puppy you must remember to log in and fill out the request. It's slightly annoying, but it's a nuisance I am willing to go through to make my boy happy. The day off the social, you arrive, tell the pups name to receptionist and they will assign you to one of two spaces. They separate dogs by weight and maybe temperament as well. Each space has its own trainer that walks you through the rules and then all pups are let loose. The trainers do a great job observing each pup to ensure it's a enjoyable experience for them, separate them if things get too rough and also engage with the pawrents answering questions and giving advice. Our little man loves playing with the other dogs and also enjoyed the climbing fixture in the middle of the room. It was amazing to see how week over week friendships were made and how some of the more shy kids started to come out of their shell. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who is trying to socialize their puppy. read more

This is the first daycare we started taking Stella, our English bulldog. Staff is amazing. Jackie and Kayla are always so patient with my helicopter mom tendencies. And all of Stellas teachers have great energy and I love that they grey her by name. We've been attending DD since June 2021 when my office opened up, I appreciate the camera, pictures, and communication about Stellas day. I recently started commuting to work and wanted something closer to my office. DD has spoiled us rotten. The other daycares I visited just do not compare whatsoever. DD has great teacher to dog ratios, interaction is on point, and just overall cleanliness along with communication. It's now scary to see other daycares that aren't following DD structure! So happy with the puppy socials and staff! They're very attentive of puppy body language and helping nudge puppies when they push too hard during play. They explain what's going on to owners so that they too are aware of how to handle and read your own pup during play. If you've got a shy pup or first timer, they know how to accommodate. They help initiate good play behavior from other more confident puppies to the shy/first timer. In the case of a very shy pup, they give an xpen so the pup can observe and feel safe, and to leave the pen if they feel comfortable. I brought my Shiba puppy to the puppy socials as soon as he finished his required vaccines. On the first day, for the first 5 minutes he tried to climb up the wall. Afterwards, he settled down and opened up! He loves other dogs now and is super excited to play; which is a new thing I have to work on with him. But it's a good problem to have, IMO! I don't have to worry about any shyness he may have with other dogs when they walk by or from a distance. Much easier to work with his excitability than any fear of dogs. read more

They are constantly watching the puppies interact, and intervene gently but firmly when necessary. They also clean up any accidents VERY quickly. Our puppy Maggie has been attending Downtown Dogs' puppy socials and daycare for the past few months. After the recent passing of our senior dog, we've had separation anxiety from her when she's not by our side! However, I always feel at ease dropping her off because we know that she's well taken care of during her time at daycare. Maggie loves to be held and snuggled and I could see that the staff often picks her up and spoils her. It makes us laugh and warms our hearts to see that they care for her as much as we do. This place is great, the handlers are awesome. The reason I gave this place 3 stars is because my dog keeps getting giardiasis every time we take him here. When we stop taking him, he stops getting sick and all is well. But if we start taking him back, he starts getting infected with giardia again. I wish they required regular stool checks for the attending dogs -at least- every 6 months. I remember they asked for a clear stool test when we first signed our pup up, but they no longer ask and it has resulted in a higher cost in vet bills and many rounds of antibiotics. I have been taking my son here since he was a puppy getting dropped off for weekly puppy socials. I was so happy they offered this back in Nov/Dec 2020 when the county shut back down. I was nervous that my puppy wasn't going to be properly socialized but thankfully DT Dogs switched to a drop-off model so he was able to get all his socialization needs in. As soon as he was old enough, we put him in daycare and he's been going 3-4 x week ever since. I'm always worried about my Sonos when I'm away from him so when I'm working, I feel totally calm knowing DT Dogs Is taking care of my baby. Downtown Dogs is my favorite place to stay and play. I go once a week to see all my friends, and every once in a while I get to do a sleep over. I especially like sleep overs because I don't have to wait for my dad to drive me there in the morning and I can start having fun right away. I love the special treats and photo shoots. I love all of the people that work there. They help me practice all the things I need to know to be a good dog, and they help me calm down and be nice when I'm a naughty dog. We appreciated their referral to dog training too. The trainer was great. We have since continued using downtown dogs for daycare. Before you join for daycare they want your dog to meet their dogs first to be sure there is no personality conflicts. I would not have thought that's a thing to consider but I'm very glad they do. We have also used their boarding service which was excellent service. These guys love their dogs. We were impressed when the flu outbreak broke out - Downtown dogs closed down to make sure no other dogs became infected. We found Downtown Dogs doggie day care/boarding after desperately searching for a daycare for our pug puppy Lulu. They met all of our standards and so much more. The manager there called us before her first day and went over Q&A, a typical day there and listed the extra goodies they offer. You can book as many days as you like throughout the week. We work weekends which works out perfectly . Plus they are flexible with drop off/pick up times. As anyone dropping off there kid to their first day of school we were excited and apprehensive to see her go. But what gave us a piece of mind is they have cameras in all the rooms so whenever you'd like you check on your pooch you can do so on their website. Lulu loves going here and every evening we pick her up she is exhausted! Which is amazing. She's made many doggie friends and is becoming more socialized. Plus the handlers help correct negative behaviors and put out a weekly report card to let you know how they're doing there. We've also boarded her for a few days and this has also been a great experience. Once you've had your dog established in the daycare you can use this amenity. This being our first time boarding her we were worried the process would be confusing but it wasn't at all. Of course you have paperwork to fill out on there they offer so many extras for your dog to feel very comfortable and they offer rooms with or without cameras we decided to choose a non-camera room and have her bathed before we picked her up. When I picked her up, she was nice and clean, and super tired and happy. I'm so happy we found this place so our Lulu can get the socialization and exercise. She needs when we're working. read more

I've been to few puppy socials around the block and hands down Finley (my 16 week old Goldendoodle) and I like downtown dogs the best. The owner and his staff are super engaging with the puppies, making sure everyone is being safe and having fun. I also really appreciate how Mark remembers all the puppies names and personalities. Based on the puppies personality and experience, Mark will proactively encourage certain puppies to play with each other. It's also nice that there are two classes happening at the same time so the puppies can move between shy or outgoing class depending on their comfort level. It seems they're not eager for new clients at all. The 1st time I called to find out more about their service, since this is my 1st time using a doggie day care provider, the person I talked to said that she had no information to give me and to just read the website. I was put off by her short attitude and indifference but still decided to call at a different time on a different day to hopefully catch someone else more enthusiastic about their job and what the place offers. The next person I talked to (not sure if it was the same person ornot) said that I could schedule a tour but there was absolutely no availability for evaluations so.... took me asking her, "So you're essentially telling me there's no availability for a new client. Am I understanding that correctly?" for her to say yes. No appology, not even a fake attempt to find a solution. My recommendation for this business is to hire people actually intrested in their job. It's damaging for a business to have people like that answer the phone and be the face of the company. It's also damaging for any small business to be happy to turn away eager new clients. But who knows, maybe they didn't need my money anyway. read more
