I have been going here since I was in highschool and go pretty much every time I am in town too. The Starbucks, Convitos, Jewel Osco and Cluckers were all open in the plaza as well. Not sure why it states it's permanently closed on here, clearly misinformation.

The architecture was, and still is, different in a good way, with more skylights than other indoor malls. Despite the fact they sell these items and could be quite strict if they wanted. The mall itself is really empty. Post Covid has seen the closing of almost all the headliner shops. So I can't give 5 stars for the mall itself. Please remember this is for the Santa Booth at Christmas The line was not long. We registered online in advance. It was simple and took less than 5 minutes. But even for people who showed up without a reservation did not have a very long line. Santa's helpers were a little bit slow with processing. Once the pictures are printed and then they show them to you and try to upsell you (that takes time.) If they could improve the efficiency of that, it would be the only thing that I would have to say needed work. Despite being a little slow, I have to say they were friendly and cheerful. A lost art among young people working retail these days. IMHO. Everyone was nice and polite. It was refreshing. It's probably the best place to take your kid for a picture with Santa in the area. Parking is abundant. Don't get your hopes too high for the food court. It's slim Pickens. And there is not a single coffee shop in the entire mall. The store is well-organized and while it's not huge or as fully stocked as a regular store (like the other Evanston location) is, this one is solid and convenient. If I lived in downtown Evanston, I would be here all the time. It's on par with the Skokie Target, so it's good for quickly picking up essentials, but it's not a location were you would browse for an hour. In that way, it's actually better because you're less likely to run in to get TP and then walk out $400 later with a bunch of home decor, clothes, and shoes you don't need (or maybe that's just me who has that problem!)

I see that the Bear Paddle Swim School is under construction, Rock Star Nails recently opened and one of my faves, Barnes & Noble, continues to do well here. For the last year, I visit Village Crossing several times a week. You would be amazed at the amount of cars here before the crack of dawn! I mean, you may be sleeping, but I and other workout fanatics, stockroom workers, cleaners, vampires, are all here before the sun rises.

I've shopped here for nearly 25 years, and it's always had a healthy mix of shops. There are a few…read moremajor retailers: Dick's Sporting Goods, FiveBelow, Barnes & Noble, Michael's, OfficeMax, PetSmart, Jewel, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Ulta Beauty, and an AMC Movie Theaters that's in a weird place around the back. There are also some small boutiques that I love--the Half Price Books is a terrific store where I always get good deals on hard to find books and rare CDs. The food options are good and well-placed, for what is essentially a series of wonkily-positioned strip malls. You won't go hungry at this shopping center. There are a bunch of fast food places clustered in the north-east section of the shopping center (Panda Express, Corner Bakery, and a Penn Station East Coast Subs), a few on the north-west side (Subway, Jersey Mike's), and sit down, stand-alone restaurants that ring the parking lot (Chili's and Outback Steakhouse). Near the AMC Movie Theater, there's a Buffalo Wild Wings, Village Roadhouse, and a Red Robin. I still have nostalgia for the huge CompUSA that used to be here. It's where I bought my first "real" computer--the Bondi Blue iMac in 1998. I also miss the Pier 1 that closed back in early 2000 (the sign is still currently up). If you're taking public transit from the city, catch the Pace 290 from the Howard Station of the Red Line, and it'll drop you across the street from the mall. If you're driving, good luck--this mall has a reputation for the roads and parking lots in front being oddly placed. I think there's also a parking garage for the AMC Movie Theater, too.

I'll be honest -- I was pleasantly surprised to visit, but not necessarily because of the items. When the store first opened that morning, it was already pretty messy. Compared to other Goodwill locations I've visited, this one felt much less organized. The store itself was clean, but the racks were chaotic. Clothes were hanging off the racks or scattered, and several employees walked past without straightening things up, which was a little frustrating. I'm used to Goodwills having neat aisles where you can browse comfortably, and this one just didn't have that same level of organization. That said, I do want to give credit where it's due. One employee who stood out was Yareli, the cashier. I wanted to buy an item that required an electrical component, and she was kind enough to go through the electrical section to see if she could find the piece I needed. She couldn't locate it, but when I mentioned that I had the part in my car, she kindly allowed me to step outside and retrieve the piece I needed and ahe held the item at the front. I went out to my car, got the adaptor and came back and tested it, and the light worked perfectly. That small act of kindness really made the experience better. To Yareli's manager: that's exactly how an employee wins over customers -- through patience, kindness, and genuine helpfulness. Prices are a little higher at thia location, but still competitive.

But, when I stepped into this darling shop with French flair all over it, I was immediately transported and found it very hard to leave. Every nook and cranny was filled with something wonderful. Delightful soaps, lotions, perfumes, jewelry, paper, gifts, artwork, and one-of-a-kind and unique threads the girl next door won't be wearing. I really really adore the Scrapbook clothing brand mixed in with others I've never heard of. The majority of the store's clothing picks are soft, luxurious, tailored, drapey, and feminine. This is where you come for that special dress, or everyday outfit that will make you want to get up in the morning. Pricing...very reasonable. Sale item dresses as low as $25. Everything is affordable. Great quality items, but you have to pick through the sizes (as with any boutique shopping experience). Don't worry there is something for everyone here. The customer service is outstanding. Walking in for the first time, I was led around the store and directed to new collections, sale items, lounge wear, fun brands, and even given a party invitation to their Sweet 16 (celebrating 16 years in business on the 16th)! 20% off already great original prices - how can I not do everything in my power to be there!
