I see that the Bear Paddle Swim School is under construction, Rock Star Nails recently opened and one of my faves, Barnes & Noble, continues to do well here. For the last year, I visit Village Crossing several times a week. You would be amazed at the amount of cars here before the crack of dawn! I mean, you may be sleeping, but I and other workout fanatics, stockroom workers, cleaners, vampires, are all here before the sun rises.

There are a few…read moremajor retailers: Dick's Sporting Goods, FiveBelow, Barnes & Noble, Michael's, OfficeMax, PetSmart, Jewel, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Ulta Beauty, and an AMC Movie Theaters that's in a weird place around the back. There are also some small boutiques that I love--the Half Price Books is a terrific store where I always get good deals on hard to find books and rare CDs. The food options are good and well-placed, for what is essentially a series of wonkily-positioned strip malls. You won't go hungry at this shopping center. There are a bunch of fast food places clustered in the north-east section of the shopping center (Panda Express, Corner Bakery, and a Penn Station East Coast Subs), a few on the north-west side (Subway, Jersey Mike's), and sit down, stand-alone restaurants that ring the parking lot (Chili's and Outback Steakhouse). Near the AMC Movie Theater, there's a Buffalo Wild Wings, Village Roadhouse, and a Red Robin. I still have nostalgia for the huge CompUSA that used to be here. It's where I bought my first "real" computer--the Bondi Blue iMac in 1998. I also miss the Pier 1 that closed back in early 2000 (the sign is still currently up). If you're taking public transit from the city, catch the Pace 290 from the Howard Station of the Red Line, and it'll drop you across the street from the mall. If you're driving, good luck--this mall has a reputation for the roads and parking lots in front being oddly placed. I think there's also a parking garage for the AMC Movie Theater, too.

I remember this place from my childhood from over 35 years ago and nothing has really changed. Meaning there is no additional parking there is no additional space. There is no additional signage in the parking lot to tell you that something is one way. So fantastic that all these stores are here and especially all these high-end stores, but there is no place to park and we all know damn well that all these North Shore women, although they all are within walking distance of these fantastic shops will not walk here and then carry their bags home. They would rather drive here. So not sure why there's an over abundance of tenants and again a lack of parking. Someone do something about the parking. And if you know anything about this area, you also know that if you go directly outside that you cannot park on the street you also cannot park on any of the residential roads as well. God forbid you put your random car in front of the multimillion dollar wilmette homes.

I have been going here since I was in highschool and go pretty much every time I am in town too. The Starbucks, Convitos, Jewel Osco and Cluckers were all open in the plaza as well. Not sure why it states it's permanently closed on here, clearly misinformation.

With Dairy Queen onsite, it's the perfect place to enjoy a summer evening with your favorite Blizzard or twist cone. Port Clinton is an outdoor shopping center where you'll discover a few specialty shops. The plaza area hosts annual events, including the holiday tree lighting extravaganza, Fourth of July festivities, and the Port Clinton Art Festival. Certain Friday nights you can listen to musicians compete in Battle of the Bands, and they've also been known to show outdoor movies. For anyone moving to the area, I highly recommend coming to the plaza for a glimpse of the community. There's plenty of bench seating and tables, and I promise you an interesting mix of citizens for spectacular people watching. Two of my favorite things: 1) A giant engraved map of Highland Park where you can find the street where you live; 2) the smell of bacon wafting through the air from the adjacent Walker Bros Pancake restaurant. Plenty of free street parking and an underground garage.

Especially the Floral department where they expect you to be always working every single second of the day even if there is nothing you can do. Produce is treated like shit. Deli and Meat Market get a bit more respect but when you're treated like shit you're still treated like shit. Home Shopping is dealing with crap left right and center from just about every department up their ass with orders. The hours are a nightmare and they tend to screw you over with your shifts. One day it's like 9am to 5pm the next day it's 3pm to 12am and the next day it's 4am to 12pm. They do nothing about shoplifting or worse people complaining about the prices only for the manager to give them what they want even though they will complain about your sales being too low. You are paid minimum wage with no health insurance or benefits for being overworked like animals and the "exclusive" worker discount are a joke. You don't even get a discount on FUCKING MILK! As a worker do not support this place until they learn to treat their workers better. Not to mention that even with inflation the deals are terrible. Like I believe as of right now there is a sale on chips buy 3 get 2 free (idk my department mostly stays in one place) but the chip bag sizes are a THIRD of what they used to be and the prices are absurd. The meat especially is a joke they are small cuts with huge chunks of fat poorly trimmed and often leak meat juice out of them. The produce is the worst part as everything is either rotting, looks like it's going bad, too small, or even a combination of all three. Want my advice go to Sam's Club and buy your groceries in bulk or even Mariano's since this place is owned by Ebenezer Scrooge.

We had a good dinner at City Barbeque and were able to get groceries quickly at Jewel-Osco. I recommend both of these businesses. Other stores at Deerbrook Mall included Starbucks, Subway, Hobby Lobby, and Brunswick Zone. I highly recommend Deerbrook Mall and will return in the future.

In the shopping center there are stores such as Dominick's Grocery, Target store, Dollar Store, and Verizon Wireless store along with a few other smaller stores. I like this shopping center b/c there is a lot of handy parking and it is well-kept with a handy location. There is an great healthy restaurant called Pompeii Restaurant that has delicious affordable healthy Italian food like pizza, pastas, salads, and more. It is casual and fast to eat-in or to take out. Behind the shopping center to the south is a beautiful popular newer subdivision of 311 luxury large homes called Park St Claire built by Hoffman Homes in the early 1990's ranging in asking price from the $400,000's to well up into the $600,000's. Most homes have 4 to 6 bedrooms, at least 2.5 baths, 2-3 car garages, big basements, and wonderful floor plans.
