The amazing gentleman who owns this place as well as his outstanding employees that work here are doing the Lord's work, truly. Fantastic customer service, friendly, reliable, honest, compassionate, caring people. Yesterday I was driving by and stopped for a rough quote to repair a broken exhaust pipe, (I went over a steep speed bump, hitting and breaking a rusty piece of pipe out of my exhaust behind the flange under the cabin making it so droning loud) they gave me a rough estimate and said if I was able I could leave the car and they would take a look at it. However, I had a few things to do so he told me to go back in the morning. This morning, I got there when they opened and they had me pull in right away and got my car in the air, after originally saying it may take up to an hour depending on the severity, once they seen it they told me 20 min or so and they would have a new section in place. Fast forward and my car was off of the lift within 15 min!! with a new section of pipe, beautiful welds and a quiet idle! THE OWNER REFUSED TO LET ME PAY!!!!! As a gentleman in every sense of the word he made me a deal that I would take my Girlfriend out to a really nice breakfast as his treat and my payment!! I never brought this up once however I am disabled and not in the best spot financially so this was a blessing to me in a time where any help is taken to heart and it laid the foundation for an amazing day taking care of what I had to. Wow !! This place is amazing with super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Friendliness was apparent just from the initial phone call. I called about getting my catalytic converter replaced for my Corolla SE 2003 and the staff member was friendly, courteous and wasn't pressuring me for a sale. He was easy going but still able to answer my questions, and we setup a drop off time. When I showed up I was greeted by Jack the owner and this guy is awesome. He gave me a rundown of what he had to look at and what else needed to be considered, that he would look through it all and let me know what he finds. And explain he did, Jack is so knowledgeable on this stuff he should be making entire exhaust systems for cars himself. It turns out we needed a catalytic converter plus the gasket needed to be changed, he did it all and the car runs great with no car engine light on anymore. What really impressed me was that he is a man of his word, he didn't try to up charge me in anything just what was needed and things I needed to consider in the future. He does what he says and says what he does. This is rare, and as I get older in life it's actually the most important thing to me when I do business with people. My car failed smog test. I was recommended this location as I needed assistance with exhaust system. The customer service did not answer my call. However, my call was returned within one business day. The staff was professional and agreed to look over car the next morning. At the time of the appointment, the mechanic looked over the car and reset my system to address the problem. They did not charge me for the quick service. The mechanic also reminded me that it's against the law to pay for a failed smog test, which I did not know. Super helpful and kind. Highly recommend. read more

The owner was very honest and friendly. I went in to get my catalytic converter checked (I knew I had to possibly replace it) in May of this year and he was very thorough about the condition and the work that needed to be done. The quote itself was a fair price for what my Nissan needed and after the actual work was completed, the price he charged me was a few hundred less than that initial quote. I went back today because I saw my tailpipe was loose and shakes when I drive. After he inspected it, he noticed that it looked like it was hit underneath (I drive through Oakland a lot with many bad pot holes in the streets). He took it in and was able make it back steady and sturdy in less than an hour with no appointment. I recommend going here for exhaust issues and repairs. I brought my 2018 Chevy ragtop Camaro, 2.0 VVT turbo, over to get some "rumble in the jungle," sounding exhaust. I didn't have too high expectations seeing the engine is a beefy 4-cyclinder, but boy was I pleasantly surprised! Jack (owner) and Skip were upfront with me that they had only done one other 4-cylinder (Mustang) for increasing the volume and my Chevy would be another chance to work on this unique use case. Something that was calming was Jack said if I wasn't satisfied they would weld back the muffler and just charge me $50.That was pretty harmless, so I Agee's to try it. They cut out the muffler and used two straight pipes (with three resonances), salvage and reused my nice exhaust tips. The result was what I had hoped for. The car started up and had a noticeable rumble and much nicer sounding, deeper tone both out and inside the car. Later I would hammer it and thoroughly enjoyed the new sportier sound. Keeping it real, it's not the throaty, super loud rumble like glass packs on a V8, but again, I love it! Price was a little more than I wanted to spend, but reasonable ($500). Skip and Jack are experts whom I trusted with my "White Knight!" Use these pros. You should be satisfied and pleased. read more

My catalytic converter was stolen and I was referred to Downtown Muffler by Mangale Motors as Mangale doesn't do welding. I am pretty happy with the results. They charged me 3.5% to use my credit card saying that they couldn't afford to pay for my points on the credit card. I said that if I had known, I would have brought my checkbook. They then said that they don't take checks, but that I could have paid cash ($2400). They asked if it was okay to use the credit card and charge the 3.5% ($84). I replied that I didn't feel I had a choice. They estimated $1800, but there were extra charges for a flange kit and a resonator which was also taken. read more

I first connected with Skip over the phone and I loved that he took initiative asking me to set an appointment and swing by for a free quote. Upon arriving I totally connected with Jack and he quoted me a super fair price for a full catback exhaust custom fabrication. His quote was nearly half of my quote up the street! I asked about his work. He didn't hesitate to take me over to a Cadillac DeVille that once belonged to Liz Taylor. He let me get underneath it and showed me some complex bends for a custom pipe install and some quality welding! He answered all of my questions patiently and I decided to give him my business! I literally stood there for 3 hours watching him put in work on my G! The shop owner himself Jack did the full install. He took incredible time and care and I was watching an artist at work as he stood gazing upon the install making fine tune adjustments before welding in place to make it proportional on both sides and aesthetically pleasing. Bait and Switch Warning! I went here by recommendation of a friend. I called in advance for a quote on, Flowmaster brand mufflers. They quoted and said, we have them come down. when I get there, the installer was putting my car on the rack, and I believe it was the owner that yelled over to him, "KNOCK IT OFF". Weird?!?! So come to find out when he's got my mufflers to install he did not have Flowmaster. He had "knock off" mufflers! In the industry, it is known to call the generic Flowmasters, "knock offs". This was the owners cute little way of trying to be sly and telling his installer to give me the cheap stuff "KNOCK IT OFF" (I.e., knockoffs). I told my friend that recommended me and I don't want to say his name, but this is greatly disappointing. He was embarrassed. This place is really shady. I hope people read this and take heed to the warning. This place is not honest. I would not trust them or recommend them. read more
