Food Poisoning!!! I called as a courtesy to let them know that me, my husband and my 4 year old all have food poisoning. The only food we all shared in the past 48hours was a penne pasta in red sauce from this restaurant. We all ate from the same dish and we are all sick! Right away the manager was very defensive and rude. I explained to him that we eat from there all the time and I was just giving him a call so he could look into it so no one else gets sick. Whoa! Am I still in FL?! Is this a dream? Did I really drive passed this place so many times? Can I get another slice? These are the questions zooming through my mind while I bite into a freshly baked slice of pepperoni pizza from Downtown Pizza. You'd think these guys are Italians by their pizza but they in fact were from Eastern Europe. Great fellas that know how to keep the pies going in and out of the oven. I walked over here while waiting for a friend that was getting a haircut. The barber recommended the place and said it was the best place in town or he will buy my slice. Offer accepted! Well, long story short I lost that bet and bought him a slice back just for good measure. The pizza is thin and crispy, the cheese is perfect, the sauce is a masterpiece of classic pizza sauces. They nail the NYC style right on the button. I'm from Chicago and I know a good pie. This one will definitely be my go-to when I'm craving a slice. read more

Yum, yum, yum, yum!!! Doesn't matter what time of the day or night you come to this establishment, it's going to blow your taste buds away. Their salad is even something to die for. My family and I come here for both lunch and dinner and it is always consistently delicious. The staff is super PATIENT and kind even if you bring that one drunk cousin we all have and never really talk about. I understand that they are located downtown, so I'm sure their patience is trained better than most, but I'm glad they treat everyone with kindness. My fiancé got pizza the other night right down the street and it wasn't good but left me wanting pizza, so last night I wandered into Downtown Pizza hoping for a better experience and was quite pleased. The whole kitchen is open so I felt safe with it being clean and I ordered directly from the man who made my pizza which was awesome. I asked if I could get a little sauce on the margarita and then proceeded to add spinach, onions, extra cheese and fried eggplant... it was pretty awesome. Nice floppy NY style crust, super cheesy and loaded with toppings. They even asked me if I wanted regular or well done (regular of course) and topped it off with basil and (asked if I wanted) Parmesan (yes please) right in front of me. The older guy, I'm not sure if he is the owner or the manager of the pizzeria, but he was so unprofessional yelled and screamed at me due to the apple pay off of my boss's phone taking a while due to the service that he has, which was also explained to him He continued to be disrespectful, yell and scream stating that he doesn't need my money. My lousy $5 in change again. Which it wasn't even for me, but that shouldn't matter. We ordered a meat lovers Stromboli and a house salad ti share. The Stromboli crust as perfectly crisp and tender, meat filling was generous and delish. Salad was super fresh and plentiful. Great quick dinner stop (before the Covid-19 shutdown)! This review is a bit delayed because I forgot to push "post"! My boyfriend and I had an evening bike ride around lake Worth and stopped in for quick dinner. This place has great prices and quick service. They have HUGE pizza by the slice. We opted for one slice each and garlic bread. Our server was very friendly but there seemed to be some unfriendly banter happening between the staff during our dinner. Kinda killed the vibe. Pizza was great and came out quickly. Our server put our pizza down and left our table. We waited for our garlic bread but it didn't arrive. My boyfriend asked our server about it and she said that the kitchen was still baking it.... then went right over to the computer and put it in. Then told the cook to make it quick. We were finished with our pizza when our garlic bread arrived and it was cool..... yeah, I bet they were fresh baking it. I just can't I I understand why the server didn't just say she forgot?? Pizza is good. Service is horrible! We arrived at 10:20 pm and ordered one pie then sat outside waiting for the pizza. This incredibly rude man informed us our pie was ready (no one offered to bring it to our table). As one member of our party went in to get the pie, the rude made started removing chairs from the outside INCLUDING THOSE WE WERE SITTING IN. When I asked if they were closed - at 10:40pm - he said the outside closed at 10:30. I asked if there was a sign that said so or why they didn't tell us when we ordered. He grunted and then walked away. All I could say was "don't you want your customers to eat your food?" While we waited they had 2 other customers. The restaurant received over $100 in orders in 10 minutes with this NASTY HORRIBLE MAN rushing us through the process. Horrible customer service. Can I give Zero Star? Seems like a big waste of one star given to Downtown Pizza in Lake worth Florida. Went to enjoy dinner with my daughter and experienced Horrible customer service from an older gentleman unsure if he is manager, owner or a staff member but should not be anywhere near customers. Ordered take out from downtown pizza thinking I wanted to stay in and relax. Decided we wanted to eat there and went out and sat (like we've done many times before). Well apparently that was a problem for the white trash waitress. She very rudely reminded us that if we weren't being served there we would have to leave. We told her we paid and she informed us she didn't care and if we weren't going to tip her we should leave and that she was "not being a bitch" but as someone who has worked in the service industry for years, she most definitely was. I made an order and they delivered it to the wrong room and they refuse to give a refund or send another pizza out. The manager cussed me out and told me to "bring the police." I just asked him why he can't remake the order or refund the money and he told me to take it up with the hotel and if I want it remade, I would have to pay again. I absolutely do not recommend because of their attitude towards the whole situation. After I called to ask where my pizza was at they said that they don't deliver to the hotel I stayed at. I wanted to support a local business, so I ordered a pizza to go. The thin crust is hand-tossed. I sat @ the front counter & watched it being made from 10' away. It was in the box only 15 minutes. But the crust was soft & soggy, looked like a thin wet pancake. The reason I know this is because the crust separated from the ingredients. I can't recall ever seeing that happen, & I've made a lot more pizzas than I've eaten. & When I lifted a piece from the other side, the edge crust & the bottom was near-burned, enough that I threw it away. Haven't figured that out either, as pizza ovens are built to cook uniformly. Surely this is an anomaly, as Downtown is a favorite locals place. It was an extremely busy weekend night. Rarely have I seen 4 guys work that hard & fast. It was like Fast-Forwarding through the commercials. I really wanted them to earn 5***** but having to throw the crust away makes it not a real pizza. read more

Sad to have to update this review. My mom came to town and I was very excited to show her my favorite pizza place. Pretty embarrassing to have the night end with the manager speaking in a horrid and condescending tone to her regarding the poor food quality we received. Our order took over an hour to arrive (despite living less than five minutes away), but it's a Friday night and potentially busy, so whatever, we didn't mind. When the food did come, it was luke-warm (again, we only live a few minutes away), but we figured the food would still at least taste good so we didn't complain. The garlic bread was very average, the caesar salad wasn't great and came with mozzarella instead of parmesan (weird, but again, whatever), the margarita pizza was just okay, but the white pizza (the only pizza on the menu I now find to be good) didn't come. Instead, we got a thick-crusted cheese pizza with uncooked dough and an absurdly large amount of bland tomato sauce. My boyfriend, mom and I all took once slice from the pizza, ate a few bites and agreed it was inedible (we're not picky, we would have been more happy with little caesars honestly). My mom called shortly after, and didn't even ask for a refund for the incorrect and inedible pizza (which would have been justified), all she asked for was a credit for a future pizza as we still planned on giving this place another chance. That chance is gone to say the least. The manager was absolutely vile when speaking to my mom. She even started off the conversation complimenting the other food (despite it being average at best), and requested the credit in a very polite manner. He was sassy, kept speaking as though she didn't know what she was talking about -I recall him snapping at her and said something along the lines of "well you ate it didn't you?" as if to imply the pizza wasn't that bad if any slices were missing. News flash bud - three people taking one slice each, trying it, gagging, and trashing it, does not equal eating a pizza. After a few minutes of speaking down to my mom, criticizing her for not calling sooner, and offering no apologies or even a hint of care, he insisted he'd send another pizza - by this point it was late at night and we had already lost any remaining appetite we did have, so why would it make sense to send another pizza that would likely take another hour to arrive instead of just crediting us for a later date like initially requested? My mom eventually gave up reasoning with him. We said not to not bother sending it because honestly, after the way she was spoken to, we were all concerned the pizza would arrive spat on. I've truly never been so irritated and disappointed by a food experience in my life. It's one thing to have a "rough around the edges" kind of energy, it's another to be completely rude and dismissive to loyal customers. I will never be back to support this business. Absolutely disgusting attitude. Genuinely, I hope things get better for you dude because I can't imagine how horrible you must be feeling inside to go off and treat other with such contempt.
