Great people. I would give it a 4.5 for value for money on the inking itself and 2.5 for scheduling and communication. They accommodate custom designs so If you have done your own, make sure you have it buttoned up. Mine was pretty detailed and complicated but I brought my computer and made last minute adjustments . Be aware that they only communicate via Instagram and scheduling and making last minute changes is extremely challenging and for us, it caused us to have to wait and not get our work completed. I wish I did make an appt tho because it got super busy. We waited about an hour. They are cash only which I wish we knew prior although they have an ATM in the back. Charles and Ryan did our tats. A bit heartbroken at my experience here. Came this past weekend to get tattoos with my husband to celebrate our 1st anniversary as they advertise flash tattoos related to the chapel next door. My husband got a great artist and his tattoo looks great. Mine... not so much. It was difficult to tell in The moment due to the ooze and redness but a few days out, I am seeing that the border lines of my tattoo are uneven and inconsistent and the artist chose a much thicker line/needle than required for the tattoo (looks different than the flash reference). It's such a simple tattoo there is no where to hide. I feel like if you are assigned an artist in the store (rather than picking) they should all have a base line ability to do excellent work- however that is not the case. I would come in with a specific artist in mind to avoid my situation. Already looking into removal and/or fixing form another artist at this point. read more

I've always known about Downtown Tattoo but just never got around to stopping in. I decided that their Anniversary Party was going to be the time. Buffalo Jake hammered into my skin leaving scares , no I am not prone to scarring or keloids . This was my 6/7th tattoo and I even got tattoos after this that did NOT scar . My lower stomach has stretch marks and it didn't scar after a decent sized tattoo . Seeing the scars I was left with often makes me sad or cry . My go to artist, Eric, doesn't work regularly at the shop anymore but you can find him on Instagram to see where he'll be tattooing around the city/country. Eric has done a majority of my tattoos here, but I've been tattooed by Buddy & CWS as well. I would trust anyone working here to give me good, clean, solid work. No questions asked. So glad I decided to come to here! I was in town for my birthday last week and had already decided that I wanted to get some ink and was not disappointed at all. Came in as a walk in and right away was greeted by Devin. Told him what I wanted which was super minimal and small and he was able to get me in with Buddy. I reached out to him via IG and we set an appointment for 1:00pm on Saturday. We walked in and they called me by name, and said Welcome Back! They remembered me from when I came with my daughter! Jacob said I am just about done , I asked him if I had time for Starbucks? He said yes. I went and got Starbucks and came back to the shop. They let my husband sit next to me and, Jacob talked to me the whole time and made me feel like I mattered. I got the Tattoo I wanted at a fair price and it is absolutely stunning! I booked with Amanda Bonhomme prior to coming into town after seeing her work and wanted to get a tattoo in memory of my grandfather who had passed away last year. I had sent over a couple of references and was going back and forth on color as all of my other work is black and grey. When I got to the shop everyone was super friendly and Amanda was awesome. She gave me a couple of layout options and several shading/color examples of what the finished product would look like. She's a true pro and killed it! My tattoo turned out even better than I had hoped for with all of the highlighting and color touches that she added to it. The finished product was perfect and an amazing way to keep the memory of my grandfather with me always. Trying to find a talented, reliable tattoo artist who's professional and fun to work with can be extremely difficult. I was really happy when a friend of mine turned me onto Amanda Bonhomme Instagram account (amandaariana_tattoos) so I could follow her work at Downtown Tattoo. American Traditional is my favorite style and Amanda has some amazing skills! I decided I wanted a Vegas Vic tattoo to commemorate my almost 20 years in Las Vegas and DM'd Amanda on IG. She responded within a few hours and seemed really excited to draw up my piece. I Venmo'd her my deposit and preferred dates and times, within minutes everything was confirmed. The shop is located on Fremont and Maryland, next to PublicUs. There was plenty of free street parking on the side street. It took Amanda about 40 minutes to draw up my piece so we went next door for some coffee. The back is not the most comfortable place to be inked, but Amanda did everything she could to make it a quick and painless as she could. She had some really great ideas about placement and color and I trusted her artistic vision. About 3 hours later I had an amazing new tattoo added to my collection. The total price was $300 (which I think was a great deal), plus a 20% tip. Please, for the love of god, tip your tattoo artists! Yessss! Yesterday my best friend and I went in to see Swarm and got matching tattoos for our birthdays! We got them in different places and in different colors and they turned out amazing! This place is rated something like 4.78 stars on Yelp, this makes them way underrated! We went in and asked for Buddy (I recommend that you do too) and he was sitting there eating dinner. He stopped eating to come see what we were loooking for, super nice guy. My wife showed him a pic of what she was kinda looking for and as soon as he finished eating, like 5 mins, he went over and penciled out a copy of what he thought she wanted. BAM! I couldn't believe how good this drawing was, and FAST too. From the time we entered Downtown Tattoo till he was tattooing my wife was like 20-25 minutes, completely done within an hour and twenty minutes, maybe an hour and a half tops. Got another tattoo this last weekend. I went here for the Yelp reviews and it was good. Got there at about 12:15pm on a Saturday and they were super packed. But, as a walk in, they were still able to take me. My tattoo artist was good, Charles. He listened to what I wanted and we debated about getting a finger tattoo. He explained how finger tattoo's don't last and was able to show me examples. I appreciated this as he could have just taken my money and I would have been disappointed. So I settled on the wrist instead. Not a 5 star as they are cash only and I didn't see that in any Yelp reviews or their website so it would have been helpful to know that before. They also upped their minimum from $80 to $100 and that wasn't known to me either. But, overall, great experience and tattoo. read more

I went in as a walk-in with a handful of pictures of what I wanted to do (watercolor flowers and leaves). All I had to do was add my name to a sign-in sheet and hang out next door at PublicUs for an hour until they called me back in. Britney was great about the fact that I had a few pictures and wanted to incorporate things from each (the overall shape from one picture, color from a couple different pictures, leaf shape from another picture) and had a transfer sheet made up in a few minutes. She showed me my ink options to make sure I ended up with exactly what I wanted before we got started, and she removed one flower from my design because I overestimated how large my body is compared to the tattoo (I would have died on the table if she did 3 full color flowers the size I originally wanted in one day, I think.) I am so impressed with this shop and their ability to take a walk-in for a 3-hour job on a Sunday. I think most other customers in there were walk-ins as well, and I saw most of them get in and out within an hour total. Pricing was really reasonable. I know I would have paid way more for the same thing on the strip, or even at a lot of local shops that don't take walk-ins. With watercolor tattoos - they'll do it, but strongly suggest an outline so you can actually keep your tattoo and it doesn't look horrible with time. I opted for the outline and I'm glad I did! It didn't take away from the design and Britney used a purple instead of black for the outline so there's a more natural/gradient look to it. She did a black/grey shading on the leaves in a way that there isn't even a visible outline. It looks amazing. The only reason I wouldn't recommend going to this shop is if you're shy and getting a tattoo that requires your shirt or pants to come off. From what I could tell, all the tattooing is done in one big, central open space so you'd be visible to most of the tattooers. Customers wait in a separated area behind saloon style swinging doors, so it wouldn't just be random strangers off the street staring at your body if that helps. Still, I give this place 5 stars! The tattooers do great, clean work and are all super friendly and easy to work with from what I observed in a few hours. I'll definitely be back to get more work done by Britney. read more

After a traumatic life experience, when you realize how fragile life is, and how exactly important life is, what do you? You get a mother fucking tattoo! So, my sister and I decided, we have the cash to blow, let's go get this "sisterfriend" tattoo that we've been talking about for forever. My sister wanted to head to a place that she had gone to before, but I don't like the vibe. I don't know if it's just me, but some tattoo shops, they look at you like, what the fuck are you doing here? and they're kind of fucking asshole pricks... Yeah, didn't encounter that here at all. Once arriving at our destination, I checked in on my faithful Yelp app (as we motha freakin' Elite do, y'all) and saw that I get One Free Belly Dance from Joey. While Joey went to get ready, my sister and I met with our tattoo artist, Ryan and Justin. I'm much more the princess type and my sister is much more Rock N Roll. We had an idea for a tattoo "So different, yet so the same, two sisters" and one day, I cleverly realized we couldn't have the same exact tattoo. They will read the same, but the style will be different. These guys got it. Ryan does amazing print work. Did a beautiful cursive flowy print that could be highlighted with my sisters and I's favorite colors. Ryan came up with this really awesome Rock N Roll font. While the guys set up shop, Joey came out and bellydanced! He was awesome and everyone in the shop was grinning ear to ear. Big props for Joey! You're awesome, dude. Justin and Ryan banged out our tattoos and they turned out perfect. Better than I could have ever, expected. Told us to come back if we needed any touch ups once the pieces were healed. Came to downtown tattoo about a month ago with a friend from out of town, she wanted to get a tattoo so I decided to get one with her. We came in on a Friday night around 8:45-9:00, we were kindly greeted by the receptionist boy, he warmly welcomed us in and told us to feel free to look around. My friend was getting a simple cursive name on her back, and me a small rose about 4 inches on my wrist. I had mine done by Ryan, not sure who did my friend. Both were nice but you could tell they didn't feel like working anymore that night. I realize we came in one hour to closing, however we were getting very small tats and our requests were not that complicated. They remained professional but made us feel uncomfortable, halfway through they turned off the music and then it was just awkward silence the rest of the time. They definitely seemed annoyed with us and I overheard the other guy muttering snarky remarks to Ryan under his breath. The shop was CLEAN, smelled nice and the artists were very sanitary in their work stations. Really cool vibe, lots of sample art on the walls, etc. Our tattoos came out pretty good for the most part except something about mine doesn't seem right-- looks a little unfinished. And the print on my friends ended up looking a little grayish instead of black. But both of our tattoos look nice and healed healthily, the artists did their job. I just wish they would have been a little friendlier, considering we are paying customers and tipped them both generously (over 30%). ***Side note: I could be wrong as to who did my tattoo-- they didn't introduce themselves. Also their Yelp page says they accept credit cards, but once it was time to pay they had us walk to some sketchy gas station to get cash out from the ATM (reception boy escorted us though which was nice). read more

For thousands of years all around the world, people have been tattooed. Recently, my son and I got inked here by Britney Goodman and I would highly recommend her as well as Downtown Tattoo if you're thinking of getting your first or your fifteenth piece of skin art. It was my first time here, but not my first tattoo. My son had already gotten tattooed by Britney on a previous visit so we knew she did great work. We showed up on a recent Saturday at noon when the shop opened. You don't need an appointment unless you're having something more elaborate done, but don't make any plans because you could be waiting, especially if you want a specific artist to do your tattoo. We were Britney's first customers of the day and we were there for about two hours. Our design (we got matching tats) was one that didn't need a lot of modification nor was it complex, so Britney did a stencil on computer first and then applied it first just like a temporary tattoo. After seeing that it looked good where it was on my ankle, Britney did the ink work on me first. Meticulous as well as extremely sanitary--that's what you want when you're getting your body modified in this way and Britney was both. Gloved up with new plastic wrap on the table and her chair's arm rests with lots of spraying of cleaning stuff before she began; I felt secure knowing that infection was highly unlikely. The process took about 35 minutes for me, but it went faster when it was my son's turn since Britney had basically gotten practice on me first. She also started over when she did his tattoo, disposing of the plastic wrap, gloves, etc. from when she did my tattoo and using brand new items for him. If you stop by the shop, you can see examples of work done by the artists there even if you're not looking to get a tattoo. The artistry is impressive and everyone on staff is friendly and professional. Yes, getting inked can hurt depending on the area of the body; I survived without any tears being shed. After receiving instructions on aftercare, we left there as satisfied customers. read more

I emailed Britney about putting together a memorial tattoo for my Dad. I sent her a few pictures and responded promptly saying she could do it. She scheduled me for a 3 pm appt. When I arrived she traced my arm and put the finishing touches on my tattoo and explained some of the artistic changes to make if a cohesive piece, not a jumble of multiple ideas.
