Disarm customers. People have stigmas about tattoo. For some it could be the price, for others it could be the pain and for some it could be the quality. I know what I wanted was so vanilla, that anyone could not only do it, but do it quickly. Originally, I thought Koolsville could do it and I'm sure they could, but in reflection, I didn't want a tattoo that was going to fade or not look like a paid full price. If I had a car and parking wasn't an issue, I might have popped in on all the shops I considered, but again, knowing that what I wanted was a 1 on a scale of 1-10 in terms or effort or expertise, I just wanted to know I was going to get what I needed without being ripped-off or dismissed. The shop that I ended up using understood what I wanted, was able to confirm pricing ahead of time and ASSURED ME, IF I CAME IN, I'D BE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF. That didn't happen in my exchange with your staff. *********************************************************** Yelp claims to be a place of integrity, but at times the review system is abused. Reviews are intended to capture an experience. You don't have to spend money or even be a customer to have an experience with a business and that is exactly what I reviewed for Black Spade. I reached out to them about having work done while I was on vacation. Rather than call them rude or abrasive, which they were, I'll just say they were dismissive. Based on that interaction, I continued to request quotes from other vendors before being treated with respect by Illuminati Tattoos. So, unless Yelp has changed their policy and reviews now require a documented exchange of money. That is my first-hand recount of contacting Black Spade. Had an amazing experience with Vernon and Kevin at Black Spade Tattoo in Container Park on 12/31/25. My daughter went in for her first tattoo at 18 decided on last name. I've been to a lot of tattoo places and this one is really great. I was able to call and they answered and was honest about how busy they were and what artist were available for a walk-in so I came in and they didn't have to wait too long to get work done. The location is really nice inside a storage container park it's a little tricky to find, but it's worth that. Brian was the one that did this design and he did a really great job and was really professional. The owner was there and he's a really nice guy and the facility is extremely clean and inviting. We walked in just to check it out and immediately felt welcomed. It was super clean with good music playing. As a person with zero ink and never really a desire to get any, the only tattoo parlor I was familiar with in town was Black Spade, as I went with a group of coworkers a couple years ago when they got tattoos. Fast forward a couple years and because I had witnessed their great experience with the artists and customer service I returned here when I was ready for something to be placed on my body permanently forever. Erik was my artist. I already knew what I wanted but he recommended placement that I had not considered. He was also super patient with me as it was my first time and I was nervous. Bummed that I have to update this review with a lower score, because I really enjoyed my first session. However, customer service/customer loyalty is definitely lacking. I was supposed to be going in for session #2 today, but received an email late last night canceling my appointment. The person, Crystal, says that they could try to fit me in some time in late February or March. Yes, you read that right. They canceled my appointment less than 12 hours before the start and then suggest I re-book for another 3-4 months down the road. That is so entirely disrespectful and such bad business. Maybe if I hadn't already waited 3 months since my first appointment, as I could have just as easily found another good artist to finish it! It's not like there's a shortage of them in Vegas. Sad to say, but I will be finding another shop and artist to finish my sleeve, and to become a loyal customer to for the rest of my ink. read more

Located in container park one block from Freemont Street there is a lot to do and see in that area of "old Vegas". But even more awesome, Blackspade is in an old train car. You need to check it out in person. What I like most was how easy they were to work with. I went with a group of friends to get matching Vegas tattoos. Only appropriate since Vegas is my home away from home. There were 4 of us and we wanted to all get tattoos at the same time, so we shopped around and came across black spade which had good reviews and didn't seem to be one of those in and out regret tattoo shops. We made and appt. a couple months out and emailed back and forth with the artist, paid a $50 deposit to hold our spots and received a final design via email before arrival. When we got there, they already had our design printed and ready to go. Our artist Blaze was the best! (Late post) A few weeks ago I brought my daughter in for her first tattoo. From the second we walked through the door, "Schmoe" greeted us with a warm smile, a funny, comical personality and was eager to answer all of our questions. He was very informative and super helpful. Friendly and kind. Concerned for my daughter as this was her very first tattoo and constantly checked on her throughout the session and made her feel comfortable. Eric "E" at the desk and even the Owner of Black Spade, "Ruck" would take the time and checked-in with her. We had such an amazing experience...we came back later in the day and I got my very first 2 tattoos. I've waited awhile to post this review because tattooing is an emotional process and I didn't want to let that influence my assessment. Truthfully, I'd been hoping for better. I knew this was a pricier choice when it came to getting a tattoo, and I thought that higher cost would mean higher quality. Certainly when going through Ruck's work online, I saw a lot of skill and impressive pieces. However I don't feel that I got his best effort on my skin, which is disappointing. I provided a picture of what I wanted done: a realistic koi, no color. While it was moderately detailed, I was hoping to see some of Ruck's finesse and uniqueness embellish the scales and tail fin in the final product. But he gave me a copy-paste of the artwork, which I could've gotten done elsewhere probably for far cheaper with the same result. Furthermore, some of grey shading isn't that great when examined closely. It's not like it's bad by any means, I was just expecting to be blown away. When placing the piece, I suggested I might want it an inch higher, buuut got convinced it looked good where it was at. Now in hindsight I wish I'd followed my gut and insisted we wipe it off and place it higher, because the placement doesn't work well with my wristwatch that I like to wear. *sigh* Would've taken five minutes to move it, but now I'm stuck with where it is permanently. Again, I foolishly didn't speak up because I thought there was expertise involved (this isn't my first tat-- I've been pickier with "less skilled" artists with "less prestige."). I will say Jenn was helpful and understanding about placing my appointment and rescheduling when things came up. I'd booked the session just before COVID and was living in another state, so I had to change the date not once but twice before I could finally make it in. Ruck himself seemed an okay fella. He was friendly and chatty, but he liked dissing previous "annoying" customers he'd had, and he overplayed how great my tat was gonna be and that "it would turn heads" (it hasn't), and he felt a little fake but eh, not like I was there for the good company anyway. He almost forgot to take photos/video of the piece before I left, which probably is indicative that he also knew it wasn't his best work. SMH. He did allow me to unmask while being worked on, which was nice since I'm a big fan of being able to breathe while being repeatedly stabbed, lol. But he also kept me waiting a long time in the lobby area while he "prepped his area" (he actually was having a quick dinner-- I could smell it when I was walked in-- which I fully support your artist being comfortable and not starving while working, so why wasn't he just honest about the hold up?). The venue is pretty cool. A couple of old school train cars at the back of a trucking container mall, had a slick industrial vibe going for it. I'd say if you're going to lay down hella cash here, just be ruthless about getting the best result possible, not letting anyone ride on their fame. read more

From my initial inquiry on Yelp, to my consult with Erik, the experience getting my first tattoo was awesome with Black Spade. The team here is friendly and professional and I highly recommend Erik as a tattoo artist! Erik was patient, kind, and is an amazing artist. He really made me feel at ease and worked with me on my various ideas to ensure what I got exactly what I wanted. It was about three hours to finish my tattoo with minimal pain and the day after my tattoo looks super clean, and I am currently not experiencing any irritation. Very happy with how it turned out. Black Spade was highly rated and they did not disappoint. Their communication was timely and courteous days before we got there.
