I had a large group (~20) work dinner here and we were placed in a private room. We were seated at a long rectangular table but there were three seats at the head so it each long side was a bit far from the seats across. We had charcuterie boards and bread with brie and apple chutney for appetizers which were delicious. Everyone had a three-course menu with salad as the appetizer, the choice of an entrée (chicken, salmon, short rib, stuffed bell pepper), and dessert (apple pie). Each course took some time to come out and the meal took a little over two hours. For my drink, I ordered the bees n berries martini which looked cute, but honestly tasted more medicinal/cough syrup-y than I would have liked. The salad was pretty good and for my entrée, I had the crispy skin salmon. As promised by the name, the skin was deliciously crispy but I found the salmon itself to be a bit bland. The apple pie was tasty, but I wish there was ice cream included and the pie itself was slightly salty. It was a bit slow but we were not in any rush and it gave us time to catch up. Don't sleep on the short ribs entree, green beans and mushroom sides. The hummus was a nice surprise with a little kick of heat and homemade yuca chips. The pickled beet salad and crispy skin salmon were also very good. My husband and I stopped in on a Friday night for an after dinner drink and dessert. One plus for why we chose The Farmers Daughter was they had a selection of mocktails to choose from. Overall, a good experience here. I came with two others for dinner, and we enjoyed charcuterie together. The warm bread and garlic olive oil kept us sated until our main orders arrived. There was a fish special that didn't land great as it was a bit over cooked and under salted, but my seasonal venison steak was exactly how I liked it (bordering on rare). It tasted great with the buttered lentils and berry sauce. I nursed a basil lemon drop cocktail during the meal, which was all right. It could've used a basil syrup bring out the basil flavor more. We are Celebrating my Mama's birthday and this place did not disappoint. The drinks, appetizers, and entrees were delish, and the service was so wonderful. They are only open for lunch hours and dinner, for sit down eating. However the bar I believe is always open. The venue is inside a hotel, and very nice. Our waitress Megan was an absolute Gem!!! So, it was a mistake to visit the bar at The Farmer's Daughter restaurant on a Saturday evening. That wasn't my first encounter with the place. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After the weddings are over, the semi-drunk crowd heads straight to the bar, apparently not happy with being only halfway intoxicated.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They order rounds of vodka-seltzers or whatever canned stuff they can find--basically anything with alcohol. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Now imagine walking into the bar, totally sober, just wanting to enjoy a drink like a civilized person--maybe with an appetizer. Forget peace. These wedding guests will lean on you while ordering their next drink, drool on you, and mumble something in your direction--hopefully to the bartender, if you're lucky.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] And that's not all. The moment you turn your head, someone's boyfriend, girlfriend, husband, or wife will be hitting on someone else. What's worse? The bartenders are totally numb to the whole thing. You can tell they're done, just waiting for their shift to end while continuing to serve clearly intoxicated guests without question. As for the food--it's actually good. One time, though, I ordered duck and it was so raw it looked like it might fly off my plate and straight into the nearest pond. Farmer's Daughter is located within the Normandy Farm Hotel, a popular wedding venue. We decided to go for an anniversary dinner; something nice and somewhere we hadn't previously tried. This place is pretty neat! So first, we started at the bar for drinks. They weren't bad, though it was a weird ambiance. Like, sports bar crossed with wedding venue reception. Kind of weird, but staff was pleasant, and ample air conditioning, if that's your thing. Dinner was in the dining room, which was a cute area with plenty of space, despite all the tables, and a nice, calm ambiance. Staff was very friendly, and our waitress was quite attentive and incredibly helpful. As we generally do, we ordered more than we should have since we hadn't previously been, so don't judge us. The provided appetizer rolls were delicious, with varied types of bread and delicious EVOO for dipping. We also got the goat cheese cigars and a wedge salad, blue cheese crumbles on the side. Both were amazing! The goat cheese cigars were creamy with a brilliant flavor and just the right temperature. The wedge was delicious as well, and having the blue cheese crumbles on the side worked out perfectly. Solid salad. The dinner involved the pistachio crusted lamb loin and the tomahawk ribeye. The lamb loin was tremendous, with great flavor and perfectly cooked. The tomahawk was, sadly, a bit underwhelming. Now, i will say, I'm not a fan of cooked spinach (i like it uncooked), but the waitress helped us out and the kitchen gave us sautéed mushrooms instead, which was great. The leeks were also delicious. The steak had moments of greatness, but honestly, it really needed to be trimmed down a bit, or a better cut used. I'm certainly one who will eat the fat off a steak at times, but it needs to taste good, and this just didn't. There were also several areas of inedible silver skin. It was well cooked though, in fairness, and the sauce was quite good. Now, this honestly might just be how tomahawks are, and full disclosure, this was my only experience with one, so I'm not holding that against them. But like with all steaks from any restaurant, it didn't live up to my expectation (seriously, why are all restaurant steaks, even from the best steakhouses, only okay?). Anyway, no regrets, it was fun to try (and yes, finish). Dessert was a complimentary anniversary cake, which was great! the cake was light and fluffy, and quite tasty. Next was the pavlova, literally only because we like Bluey and we never had pavlova before. I didn't know what to expect, but it was quite good! Cooked, light meringue, delicious sauce, solid ice cream, and edible flowers. Great! Overall, it wasn't a bad night, and we really enjoyed the dinner! I do get the impression that your overall impression will probably be influenced by the staff, but everyone we spoke with was incredibly pleasant, and that made it a fun night with good food. We made the mistake of going here on a Saturday night. Apparently they had two weddings going on. The service was poor. We waited over an hour for our food and when it came out it was cold. You can't make people wait over a hour to serve cold food. Unacceptable. They took it back- hard to reheat salmon and it was just as cold the second time. Andrew turned the 4 stars into a 5. I rely on the Yelp community for most restaurant decisions. Tonight, my wife and I decided to throw caution to the wind and dine at Farmer's Daughter in spite of its less than 4 star rating on Yelp. I am happy to report the gamble paid off! First, I will say, we played our cards right: we booked a reservation at 8:15 pm and showed up at 7:15. We gave them plenty of time to find us a good table while we enjoyed a little pre-funk in the bar by the fireplace. Our bartender was timely and attentive but stoic and transactional. Not a bad first impression but not amazing either. The hostess came and found us when our table was ready - I was in the middle of destroying my wife (she always beats me) at rummy 500 and the hostess kindly let us finish the game before taking us to our table. As we transitioned to the dining room, we surveyed the ambiance. The intent is an upscale farmhouse vibe; reality is close but a little dated and although purple is my favorite color, the purple cushions and carpet felt a little too dark and could use some updating. Our server, Andrew, immediately brightened the atmosphere. We grilled him on the menu, asking what is included in the charcuterie and cheese board. He effortlessly recited the ingredients and so that is how we began our dining experience. The charcuterie was quality. I've been a fan of charcuterie since traveling and tasting variations throughout Europe. The Farmer's Daughter Charcuterie & Farmstead Cheese Board exceeded expectations for an American charcuterie with a sufficiently diverse and unique flavor palette. On to the Entrees! But first, a note about Andrew's attentiveness: my wife and I, celebrating our anniversary, were (and are) definitely in to each other. Andrew picked up on this and on several occasions we noticed him checking up on us but seeing we didn't need interruption, he moved on. He struck the perfect balance of waiting and interacting with us while still ensuring we had an intimate evening. Ok Entrees: my wife went with the sesame crusted chicken. It was cooked perfectly and while we were skeptical of the carrot mashed potatoes, they actually tasted great! For myself, the lemon ricotta pasta really caught my eye but I was worried it might not be enough...my wife had a fantastic suggestion to see if they would add some shrimp to the dish. We proposed the idea to our waiter Andrew and his reaction made us feel like we had cracked some secret Farmer's Daughter code or something. It was as if he was Alex Trebek from Jeopardy and already knew the answer was to order shrimp with that dish and we leveled up in his eyes by asking for it. We were almost too full for dessert but WTH, you only live once. We poured over the dessert menu and settled on the chocolate soufflé cheesecake. As we ordered, Andrew politely confirmed our request. However, in our accelerated kinship with him thus far, my wife and I knew that what he was really saying was: "oh please, God, you do not want to order that". So we quickly withdrew and asked: what might be a better option? Without regret, Andrew confidently showered us with his culinary wisdom and urged us to order the Milk & Honey. Oh boy we're we delighted! It was a perfectly unexpected ending to an already satisfying meal. It was like getting to watch the newest Marvel movie on opening night and sticking it out past the credits to watch the 30 second clip that sheds not-quite-enough light on some future to-be released film that you know you'll only understand when you see it. I especially enjoyed dinner on the patio as the sun went down and the lights came on. The food at lunch and dinner was excellent, with the exception of the margarita pizza, which had a peculiar taste. Our group especially loved the plank grilled salmon, gazpacho, and beef short ribs. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable, however, there was a significant wait for food to come out of the kitchen. This was a huge disappointment. Most of it revolves around the insanely slow service. Took over 10 minutes just to get acknowledged we were there. Then he was rushing us like we were bothering him. Long story short, a different person brought our appetizer, two others brought our dinners, yet another brought the bill, and a had to order my second drink from the bartender. So the food was great though, right? Yeah, not so much. We ordered the gluten free humus that's supposed to come with yucca chips. It shows up with celery and carrot sticks - not the same effect. I ordered the Salmon because, well, I usually order salmon. When I ordered it, I even asked the "not-so" excellent server what temperature they cook it to. He said medium. I said perfect! It shows up (after an exhaustingly long wait that had us feeling like gophers sticking our heads up looking for the food) and it has a thin yellow sauce on the bottom. I put my fork in it and taste it, and the flavor is good, but it's cold. That was a little off putting. How was the medium salmon you ask? No idea. They gave me the crispy, overcooked, dry salmon. My wife got the scallops. A sheer disappointment. They were literally the size of a thimble. Yes, a thimble, and I'm not exaggerating or making this up. On a positive note, my daughter had the lamb shank and she said it was amazing. We had to rush out of there to get our daughter back because the dinner took so much longer than we were anticipating. Celebrated my wife's birthday here with our 3 year old and 6 months old. It was one of the best experiences we had ! The waiters were extremely kind and considerate. They set up a nice bouquet of flowers for my wife and told her that it is hers! My wife loved the corn bread and so one of the attendants packed us some cornbread for the week! I called The Farmer's Daughter to make a reservation and that particular night they were booked with a wedding reception in the main dining room so I would have to be seated in the bar area which I said was fine.....but will get back to that in a minute. I should of read closer that it was inside a hotel. Driving up to the place my GPS kept saying " you have arrived ", but didn't see a restaurant! I had to park my car and walk up to the building to see it's inside the Normandy Farm Hotel. Once inside, everyone was very helpful, directing me to the restaurant. Was seated right away! Unfortunately, I never saw the main dining room, but the bar area was very nice and big, with a fireplace too! There were lots of people dressed formally coming in and out from the wedding party. Meeting a good friend for dinner we decided on the Goat Cheese Cigars as a appetizer. They were delicious, just could've added about 4 more on the plate! My friend ordered the short rib flatbread pizza and the Octopus as a entree, Pennsylvania Dutch Apple pie for dessert. She said it was pretty good, but nothing outstanding. I decided on the Overnight short ribs spinach & cheese grits (which was very good flavorful and tender) also the broccolini (which was very hard). Could cook for about 1 more minute. I got the Molten Lava Cake/vanilla ice cream for dessert. It was more lava than cake, but not bad! I really struggle between 3 stars and 4, because somethings were not as good as expected, but service, atmosphere, and some of the food were really good. The Holiday brunch is amazing, just finished their Easter brunch. Their is definitely something for everyone including children. They have breakfast stations including an omelette station and waffle and pancakes. Also have the standard egg,bacon,sausage etc. for breakfast. I started with a melon marg (watermelon margarita) which was refreshing and definitely made well as the flavors all blended cohesively where you actually forgot there was actually tequila mixed in. My appetizer was the sesame crusted tuna and it was tasty and great grade of tuna in a red pepper chutney which gave it a little kick. My entree I had finally chosen (everything sounded incredible it was really hard to make a decision) I went with the sunflower-crusted lamb chop and gosh I'm so glad I did! It was cooked to med-rare perfection and the sunflower coating had intense flavor and added crunch. I did not get dessert because I was stuffed to the brim but another friend had gotten the seasonal bread pudding and it just looked and smelled delicious! There was a misunderstanding about the reservation so definitely be clear if you are not wanting to book a room as a sales rep had misunderstood and booked us a room (which also comes with a fee understandingly) but that was taken care of by the manager on duty and all was well! A perfect summer's evening dinner! As the old song said, "It's too darned hot"! I wasn't in the mood for another homemade salad or take-out sushi. I'm glad I decided to dine at The Farmer's Daughter since it ticked all of the boxes! I began with a specialty cocktail - a lavender rose spritz which consisted of Ketel One Botanical Grapefruit & Rose, Lemon Juice, Lavender, topped with Champagne, served on the rocks. It was tasty, refreshing, and was perfect for an evening with temperatures that exceeded 90. My appetite was "off", due to the weather, so I ordered a bowl of gazpacho and an order of clams in a tasty broth. The gazpacho had a "kick" to it which made it all the more enjoyable. Megan, my waitperson told me the restaurant was out of the razor clams cited on the menu and asked if it would be alright if they substituted cherrystone clams. It was! The appetizer (which I enjoyed as my main course) was served with a delightful broth and a few slices of whole wheat toast. Perfection! The dining room is pleasingly decorated and includes arrangements of silk orchids encircled with white twinkle lights. Food has improved significantly since I was last here; equivalent to the Blue Bell Inn but slightly less pricey. 5 stars.
