I was so happy to find that Jeff answered the phone on the second ring. He was able to talk me through a deeper examination and we determined that, indeed, I was looking at file corruption. His suggestion was to try and system restore - something I had never done before (it's easy but not something I would just randomly try on my own). It took almost 2 hours for the restore to complete, all the while I was freaking out because I'm realizing that if it's caught in an endless loop, I am risking that it will never restore and that I'll need an expert to try and get my existing off this thing (my back up hard-drive is in NJ!!!!) I was lucky! The restore worked. And, I have Jeff to thank for getting this back up and working.
