I saw someone else talk about how much they love going here and I can't agree enough. Dr. Eckl is the best dentist I've had, hands down. He walks you through every step and never leaves you in the dark on anything. I feel very confident that he's giving me the best advice possible (we've all had experiences with dentists that are more so sales people). He's not one of them. I have 100% trust in Dr. Eckl and that's so refreshing in a dentist. He's also a PERFECTIONIST! Basically, he's legendary. My husband also likes Dr. Boyd and has had an amazing experience with him. New patient here! Dr. Boyd is awesome... went in a couple weeks ago to establish myself as a new patient after going to the same dentist for the last 30 years! I knew I was in need of a cleaning and came to find out after a very thorough consultation and X-ray, I had a cavity. Went in today for my filling and he and his dental assistant (I didn't catch her name) were so gentle, communicative and overall made my experience 10/10. I HATE shots and have come to really fear all the drilling associated with dentists after a bad experience a couple years ago and both he and his team put my nerves at ease and worked quickly to get me in and out. The front desk staff is super friendly, the office space is clean and the views are pretty great too. If in need of a dentist in the SC area, I highly recommend Dr.Boyd! read more

I seriously loved going here so much! Seriously can't say enough good things about Dr. Boyd. He explained everything he was going to do, he was very calming, and overall, just felt very comfortable and safe. And the receptionist, I think her name was Leah or Lynn (so sorry I forgot) she was so incredibly sweet she took so much time to break down my insurance for me and just really went the extra mile. Sadly I didn't even get to meet the doctor because the receptionist was rude. I called several weeks ago and asked the receptionist how much it would be for the doctor to look at a chipped tooth. I made it clear that I don't have dental insurance so I was concerned about the cost. She said I could come in for a consultation and didn't say anything about there being a consultation fee. I called and confirmed this was the case as well. Once I went in for my appointment, I had to fill out all the paperwork, only for her to tell me after that there would be a $150 dollar consultation fee. To top it off, I told her I also wanted the doctor to look at a tooth in the back and she said he could only look at ONE TOOTH (and put her one finger up). Who says that? So the doctor is only going to look at one tooth for $150 dollars? They made me feel unwelcome and said it in front of other patients, embarrassing me in front of others. I was looking forward to meeting a friendly dentist in the neighborhood. So much for that. I get that doctors need to make money but geez - very unprofessional and off-putting. I'd avoid this place unless you want to be treated like a second class citizen. read more

I have been coming to this dentist for a couple of years now and they have always been good, but my last experience pushed them over the top, to phenomenal. I pulled a crown off eating gummy fruit chews on a Friday around noon and was in a lot of pain. Dr Boyd squeezed me in and got it temporarily fixed until they could get me in for a real appointment. They got me in for a more permanent fix 1 week later and were very concerned and caring for my pain. They even followed up on Monday to check on me. I have been to dozens of dentists over the years. Several excellent, most mediocre, a few, your worst nightmare. However, Dr Eckl is a REAL TREASURE! I have a disease which causes rapid tooth decay. I went to him after hearing great things written about him and his office on-line in the "San Clemente Life " Facebook Page. I was having pain under a bridge I'd had for about 6 yrs. I first went to "The Smile Group" total rip-off!This clown destroyed a $6k bridge to tell me I had a cavity under one of the teeth. I had to pay $1200 to replace just one of the perfectly good crowns he destroyed and I told him to just put a temp to fill in the gap he had left me with, he told my he needed to remove the bridge, leaving out that he would destroy it! I then had the good fortune to visit DR EKLE,I told him that due to my medical issues, I was going to have a total mouth restoration using several implants and a fixed denture, but it would be about a year before I could line it up. So in the meantime what was the best option? He explained first to treat the infection with antibiotics. He furthered explained that a mini-root canel could be done on the tooth with the cavity, it was a really bad one but not the reason for the abscess. But only necessary if it started to cause me any pain. It would be inexpensive and could be done without destroying a crown in place. He gave me refills of the antibiotics in case the infection returned. To be sure this was a temporary fix to get me by for a year or so until I could get the Major work done. The infection cleared up and never returned, I have had no problems with the cavity. The bill was less than $100. If I had seen Dr. Eckl first I would have saved my bridge, not have had to pay for a new crown that should have never been destroyed in the first place. *** DR. ECKL is worth his weight in gold. He is extremely knowable and honest! Plus He and his staff are the nicest I've met. This industry is absolutely fraught with greed and incompetence, what a wonderful oasis from that we have here in San Clemente,with this great dentist. read more

Time and time again, Dr. Eckl and his staff have made what is generally considered to be a not so pleasant experience, into a pleasant one. My first appointment was a teeth cleaning--it was with out a doubt the best cleaning I had ever had. Since then I've had other, more involved work done. I'm always impressed with how Dr. Eckl pays attention to detail, and keeps you comfortable and informed. Besides the quality of dentistry, everyone there is really cool, and the cottage-style office makes you feel at home. Much better than the usual cold, commercial dentist offices. Dr. Eckl and his entire team are awesome! My entire adult life I have been apprehensive to visit the dentist because I was required to pre-medicate before all dental work due to a surgery I had as an infant. When I made the switch to Dr. Eckl, I advised him of my fears and he was so caring and informative, which helped to lessen my apprehension (and the fact that I no longer had to pre-medicate due to additional medical research). There was another review I read somewhere that mentions Dr. Eckl as being "young with an old school approach" and I believe that to be true - he won't push or insist that you have unnecessary work done. Bonus for me: the office is the same one I visited as a child, so being there is quite nostalgic and reminds me of the days when I actually thought I wanted to be a dentist. ;-) read more

Dental hygienist Michelle is awesome! She is professional, patient, genuine and passionate about her job. She took the time to explain everything she was about to do and why it needed to be done. I really appreciated that she consistently checked on me to be sure I was doing okay while she was working. Because of Michelle I am no longer reluctant to schedule my next dental appointment. As a follow-up to my positive experiences with dental hygienist Michelle, I need to give kudos to Dr. Eckl too. Dr. Eckl pointed out dental issues that I was not ready to hear during my initial and subsequent cleaning appointments. Many months later I began experiencing dental pain, which Dr. Eckl had predicted would happen when I declined his treatment plan. It would have been a great 'ha, told you so' moment for him, but instead he was completely understanding and professional. I moved to San Clemente about 8-9 months ago, and first went to San Clemente Dentistry on Pico. I quickly learned they are very pushy with expensive treatments, and every time I went in they tried to sell me on $1500+ in work. I decided to switch and went and saw Dr Eckl yesterday and it was hands down the best dentist trip I've had. They did a great job, explained everything they were doing, and didn't try to tell me I needed any unnecessary work done. Dr Eckl explained things to look out for in the future, but said there was no reason I needed to do any extra work. I highly suggest this practice! Thank you for being so professional!! read more

Let's face (and mouth) it: Nobody likes going to the dentist. But when you MUST go to the dentist...well, I can't think of a better place to be than here. Dr. Eckl and his staff are really fantastic. I happened upon them by chance a few years ago, when I was living just a couple blocks away. Today, I live in Costa Mesa, and still make the drive down to San Clemente to receive their high-quality care. Every time I've been to the office, I've left feeling good about the experience - even in the mouth, which isn't always the case following your typical dentist visit. Dr. Eckl himself is a very personable, talented, efficient, and honest dentist. Rochelle and Sarah are both amazing hygienists. Randi, who manages the office, is really a wonderful and kind and courteous woman. Rochelle up front is also great to work with. They do a great job of contacting you before all your appointments too (via email, texts and/or phone call), and the waiting room is state-of-the-art and cozy.
