Very happy for my new found dental office and love that it's 5 minutes from my house! I'll start by saying I have a ton of dental trauma...it's not that I'm just afraid of the dentist or I don't like to go, this runs deep. It's ptsd level and no amount of logic seems to really help. My first visit to the office was a new patient exam and I was greeted with so much warmth from all the staff. The tech who did my X-rays continuously asked how I was doing and made sure I was ok. I love the amenity options from lavender essential oils, eye massagers and more! They even asked if I'd prefer having things explained or not. It felt like they're very aware of people's fears and do everything possible to mitigate them. Dr. Ritzau is amazing! She is friendly and very knowledgeable too. It's obvious why this office wins so many awards in the dental field. I came back for my first cleaning the other day and my fear was at an all time high (you would have thought I was getting major surgery). I was greeted right away by the hygienist, Madeline and she was fantastic from beginning to end. I felt like we were two girlfriends just hanging out. She was not only wonderful at cleaning my teeth with 0 pain, she was also great at distracting me. She asked me questions about myself and felt very personable. It was thankfully one of the better experiences I've ever had. The office is spacious, clean and relaxing. They have refreshments in the waiting area and are always running a contest too. I'm disappointed to share that my experience at Shoreline Dental felt more sales-driven than patient-centered, and I hope this helps others make an informed decision. I was a first-time patient and want to start by recognizing my hygienist, Anna. She was wonderful and clearly cares about her patients. Where things went wrong was after my cleaning. Once X-rays were reviewed, I was told I had a cavity. Rather than being given conservative options or a discussion of risks and alternatives, the dentist immediately recommended a crown, an invasive and very expensive procedure. I felt uncomfortable with how quickly that recommendation was made. I chose to get a second opinion from a close friend who is a dentist out of state. After reviewing the images, they felt a crown was not necessary at this time and that a filling was appropriate. I asked Shoreline to proceed conservatively with the filling, which they did. However, even during that appointment, I was again encouraged to plan for a crown in the near future. I was also sold a night guard for $900, with the assurance that it would "last my whole life." After going home and doing my own research, I found that night guards typically last around two years. I called to cancel the order, as I would not have agreed to it had I been given accurate information. The final concern, was a follow-up email I received stating that Shoreline Dental felt they were "not the right fit" for me due to an "uncomfortable conversation with the doctor." From my perspective, the discomfort came from me asking questions, setting financial boundaries, and advocating for conservative care. I had clearly expressed that I did not want to be sold anything unless it was absolutely necessary, yet the upselling continued. I believe patients should feel safe asking questions without fear of being dismissed as a client. Being informed and cautious should not disqualify someone from care. While I won't be returning regardless, I felt it was important to share my experience. I would encourage others to be cautious with any practice that feels more focused on high overhead, tours, and sales than on collaborative, conservative dental care. read more

Lack of price transparency and relentless upselling. I first want to start off by saying that the staff is very friendly and extremely nice. The new location is very nice as well. Other than that I do not recommend this office. I am never one to take the time to write a Yelp Review but felt compelled after this last visit. I was a patient for many years up until my last visit about 5 years ago. My entire family and MANY family friends left this office due to a lack of transparency when it comes to pricing, and relentless upselling in every appointment. This is consistent with the rest of the lowly rated comments if you care to look. The only reason I went back is because my crown which was put on there needed to be replaced and was still under warranty. It was a significant price reduction under the warranty, so financially, I needed to get it replaced at Shoreline. At the beginning of the first visit, when they removed the old crown and fit me with a temporary, I confirmed my warranty and that I would not be paying the full price (which was already confirmed on the phone the week prior). They went back to check and confirmed a few minutes later. This should have been in the note for my visit to begin with, and I'm confident that the warranty would not have been honored had I not made sure of it. I signed the acknowledgment and paid the full amount at the end of this visit. I just had my appointment for my permanent crown. Again, the work itself was well done and professional. While checking out, all of a sudden, I was being charged an additional $500. When I pushed back, there was stammering and backpedaling. At the end they chalked it up to the $500 amount being "auto-populated" along with a few other half reasons that frankly made no sense at all. They started listing prices in a way to show me the mental math, as a reason for the mistake. The numbers didnt even add up either. Once again, if I had not stood up for myself I would have been out an additional $500 for absolutely nothing. I hope this helps. It's a shame because the staff is very nice but this experience is consistent with why many of us in town left years ago in the first place. read more

I came to Shoreline Dental for a teeth cleaning that was advertised as a special (around $150). The office is beautiful and very high-end, and the staff was friendly. During my visit, I was told that I had developing gum disease and that I needed multiple procedures, including four crowns, totaling over $3,000. This was shocking to me. I'm 30 years old, take very good care of my health, and have never had a cavity in my life. What's especially concerning is that getting a crown permanently alters and damages a healthy tooth. It is not something that should be recommended unless it is truly necessary. I went to my longtime dentist for a second opinion, and she confirmed that my teeth and gums look great and that I do not need any of the treatments that were recommended here. This experience was extremely disappointing. I've never written a negative review or reported a business before, but this felt misleading and unethical. Recommending invasive, expensive procedures that are not needed is not just frustrating, it's wrong. While the office looks luxurious and offers a high-end experience, I strongly encourage anyone considering major treatment here to get a second opinion first. read more
