Wow! I finally found a holistic dentist that made my 8 year old daughter feel comfortable going to the dentist. From the moment Dr. Chase walked in the room, I knew we had found our future dentist. He has a professional but relaxed presence. He has four kids of his own and is a natural with kids. My daughter has struggled with cavities from a young age and has been recommended for anesthesia to fill multiple cavities in the past. I am so relieved I decided to hold off and then found Dr. Chase. He provided us a wonderful plan to address the many issues leading to her cavities. On our first visit he spent a lot of quality time with us, simply explaining the causes and the plan while simultaneously educating us. We followed his recommendations for SDF and Ozone. On the second visit, he filled her two teeth WITH NO ANESTHESIA REQUIRED! I was blown away and so relieved. My daughter is so happy and now brushes, flosses and uses mouth wash without me asking and understands the importance of her oral health. When we moved states I was forced to look elsewhere, I did research on different dentistry perspectives, and this practice aligned with our family values best. Dentistry and beyond! Dr. Carlson is simply genius! While under Dr. Carlson's treatment, he discovered I have what's known as a "tongue tie". After living with it, my entire life, I had no idea what a humongous difference releasing my tongue tie in which Dr. Carlson did right in his office! I quickly gained the correct use of my tongue in things like annunciation, sleeping, breathing, swallowing, and more. This release known as a "lingual frenectomy", along with therapy even alleviated neck tension! Dr. Carlston and his staff are top tier, not only in comparison to the southern orange county area, but to the southern California region. I've personally followed Dr. Carlston for the past year, and for him to have his own practice speaks of his expertise and rapport with his patients. Anything under his scope of practice is done with proficiency and attention to detail. His ability to carry a calm and empathetic nature to pediatric and adult patients is rarely seen in this area of medicine. Let alone, it matches with the outstanding view as you sit in the chair. Look, I hate the dentist. I think that's pretty universal. I can't believe anyone would want to become a dentist, because everyone will hate you! Not Dr. Mona. She's different. So I have the same story as a lot of people. I put off going to the dentist for too long because I was terrified. I waited until I had a problem, which happened in April, and no dentist offices were open because of covid. I had to wait to be seen until the restrictions lifted a little bit. The were so nice before my appointment, and would call me periodically to make sure my tooth hadn't become an emergency in the mean time. When I finally got in I was very scared. I had to take a generous dose of anxiolytics to get me up the elevator. (It's a gorgeous office, btw, which does help). They took x-rays and surveyed the damage. I liked Dr. Mona instantly. She was so warm and understanding. She caters to people who are scared and does everything possible to make you comfortable. I was overwhelmed by all of the work that needed to be done. I began to cry. Since she was fully gowned and in full PPE, she offered to hug me. I had not had a hug in 80+ days because of quarantine. She hugged me and it remains to this day one of the best hugs ever. 80 days is too long to go without hugging. I had one tooth that needed a root canal and a crown, and many cavities that needed attention. She formulated a plan and we have done each thing bit-by-bit. We started out with a small "easy" filling, and went from there. Lots of nitrous and patience and we are almost done. I think I have met my yearly max for my insurance and we just started in June or July I think. We've done a lot. I am going to have fantastic teeth! I almost didn't write this review, because she already has soooooo many 5 star reviews and doesn't need any more. We don't need the practice to get so busy that I can't get an appointment. I'm kidding. She deserves all the credit. TLDR: Highly skilled dentist, attentive and talented staff, cohesive coordination across disciplines ie; endo (root canal) and oral surgery (crown lengthening/ "bone shortening") in a beautiful location.
