First Time: After three consults with different surgeons in the Scottsdale, Az area I chose Dr. Tamplen. Paid him his 14k for the Rhino. He and his team were great, but the first Rhino was very botched. Not straight, crooked column, assymetrical wierd nostrils. Second try: To try and fix the my crooked nose he performed an "in the office" alar procedure to try to make my nose straight. Nose was still messed up looking. Third Try: Dr. Tamplen actually took me back in to surgery of where I was excited to think maybe he would take all avenues that many cosmetic surgeons take to make a nose straight. There are many techniques a surgeon can do to construct a straight symmetrical nose. Again, to my sadness, my nose was still crooked. I still looked deformed. Fourth Try: In February 2026 I scheduled the fourth time, but cancelled and rescheduled for April 3, 2026. I spent money to fly to AZ waiting for the day to come. About a few days before the procedure, an office lady called me and told me I needed to pay $ 2,500 for the surgery time. I was so surprised because all along all Dr. Tamplen and his staff would say " all we want you to be happy with the outcome so we will do whatever it takes." I was very upset about this because my sister had her facelift revised by Dr. Tamplen, for free of charge. The office lady said, well we have done a lot for you and your sister. I told her well I am a different patient and why can't he perform my revision free? I got so upset that I said to forget it and never tried a fourth time. You will see in the pictures how crooked and messed up my nose it. I don't even want to look at a person straight on. My advice is to ask the surgeon what he is actually go to to perform a Rhinoplasty. Ask if he is going to take part of the rib, or other grafts to do a perfect job. I always wonder how do accident victims get their faces fixed so nicely after scars and more? He kept blaming my crooked nose on a scar below my nostril. My nose looked better before I had Rhinoplasty. Also just because a surgeon is top notch in their class does not mean they have "artistic" ability. I've worked with Ken several times. He has tried to prevent his colleagues for doing surgery by trying his level best with non-interventional therapies. It is unfortunate that I had to have several but he was wildly successful on one shot that he has earned his place in my Orthopedic hall of fame book. He tried to prevent surgery or fix the pain on a couple of occasion in my much worked on right shoulder. That damage was too great to be fixed by Prp. He did the best he could but you aren't going to spin out enough growth factors from the blood of a man in his 60's but he did his best and he has a VERY skilled hand at injections. After my third shoulder surgery, I found a tear in my forearm tendons. it was not complete but very deep and very long. He wanted to do another round of PRP but I brought up a different approach. One of the stem cell therapies. I've been in Big Pharma for 30 years and while I am not a Doctor, I know my way around data. Doc was open to the discussion... which was funny as hell with the banter that went between us like two top tennis players volleying back and forth. He decided that I made a decent enough case to give it a shot. Doc decided on Whartons Jelly. I won't go into specifics but Insurance doesn't cover the product and I paid out of pocket. The $1,500 I paid was cheap as hell for the results we had. Six weeks post surgery and with zero PT (my fault) I went back for an eval. It was completely resolved. We both looked and almost shat ourslevess at the results. It was completely resolved. Totally and completely resolved. As I am having deterioration in my left ankle from a previous surgery that was no the surgeon's fault, I am planning on calling Ken next week to get him to inject my left ankle. It hasn't split yet and this might just keep that from happening. You can't go wrong with Dr. Honsik. He will listen and he will achieve by doing his level best to prevent his colleagues from having to cut me open yet again. You? ... You could you do worse for sure. Could you do better? NO. He is the man.

I had simply asked to speak to him of an unfortunate morning appt experience where me and another guy-both over 70, who had 10:30 and 10:45 appts, were made to wait while an 11:00 young hispanic man was taken in before us. Woodcox would not even apologize. The 10:30 guy paced back and forth before the recept window and Maria said she "sees him". BTW: we had to listen to her when a hispanic guy came out from his appt and for 10 min she berated him for never learning to speak Spanish. Not office etiquette. When Maria found out that I spoke privately to Woodcox about appt times, she flew into a judgmental rage at me, went into his room and when the two came out she would not make another appt for me but instead said coldly to call her when I got home. It wasn't clear to me at first as she was being vague, sneaky, manipulative that she had gotten Woodcox to drop me as a patient just because I advocated for myself. To do this over such a small issue, the way in which he did it, and to a senior disabled citizen with a workers comp case, ruins my case. There was no care at all for my life and how they were affecting it. He should know better how to end an OWCP case for a person with a partially disabled foot/ankle to get settlement but did not care and just had me hanging on each month coming in so he could collect payment. Now he only sees patients one day a week and paid to be a QME so he has his income set. I should have had partial foot loss settlement, but without his recommendation and exam for that I cant. No matter how many like him, this is also how he is. He really doesn't care about people though he puts on a good act for the money. Too hard to find another OWCP dr for long term injury. Very cruel guy and staff. When they do wrong they turn it on patient.

One doctor told me that talking to me about all my health issues was like taking their entire medical exam with just one patient. Other doctors left me to figure what was causing my migraine on my own, but Dr. Kmucha was the first to take the time to understand what was going on. It never went away - 24 hours a day, every single day, for 2 1/2 years. A few years back, I had a tiny fracture in one of the bones in my ankle from a lacrosse injury. I had some pain with walking -- nothing horrible, but not something I wanted to live with forever. Dr. Reiley was recommended to me as someone who "specializes in the foot and ankle." If I had known then what I know now, I would never have gone to see him, and my whole life might have been very different, but of course I DID see him, and I trusted that he (as an orthopedic surgeon) would be able to figure out the best treatment for my injury. When I went in, Dr. Reiley took some X-rays of my ankle (which he also did at every appt that followed) and agreed that I had a small ankle fracture. He said that there were surgical options, but that the surgery would be just as likely to make it worse as to make it better. So, he suggested a non-surgical approach: simply non-weight-bearing. He described this as the "conservative approach," and that seemed smart to me (obviously I didn't want any unnecessary surgery). He had an assistant put my leg into a hard cast, told me to get crutches, and said I should come back in three months. Well, obviously 3 months on crutches was not enjoyable. But, I figured, okay, this is what my ankle needs to heal, so that's fine. After it was over, I came back to Dr. Reiley. He took another X-ray and said that the fracture was still there and that I should continue to stay off the ankle, but now I could put it in a removable "boot" so that it would be easier to shower. I asked as many questions as I could before he left the room (he has a way of suddenly disappearing), and while he was with me he made it clear that even though the boot was removable, I should not put ANY weight on my foot. He gave me no exercises whatsoever to do with the foot; he just said to rest it. Once again he said he would see me back in a couple months. Over the next few months, my body began to hurt all over. My shoulders and neck were killing me from the constant use of crutches, and I could barely sleep at night from the pain in my back, neck, and shoulders. I was prescribed NSAIDS, which I continued to take for a long time and which contributed to the development of gastrointestinal problems, but that is a whole different story. When I called Dr. Reiley's office to tell him about the pain and to try to get some clarification on exactly how long I would need to be on crutches, it turned out that he was on vacation and would be unreachable for a month. Okay, great. When he finally got back to me, the message the receptionist gave me was to just make sure to not put ANY weight on it, because it might mess up any healing that had occurred. So I suffered through another month and returned to see him (it is literally embarrassing for me to write this, because I can't believe that I continued to see him, but at this point I really did trust that despite his poor bedside manner, at least he knew what he was doing -- Unfortunately I was wrong). When I saw him this time, after being on crutches for about 7 months, the X-ray he took showed severe osteoporosis throughout my foot and ankle -- so much that my bones barely showed up on the X-ray at all. (It's not shocking that my foot had developed osteoporosis after not touching the ground for 7 months, but he seemed very surprised by this). For the first time, he showed a little concern and called a colleague who is a Rheumatologist because he was worried that I had arthritis. Arthritis!? Thus began the month of seeing 5 or 10 different doctors -- rheumatologists, podiatrists, orthopedic surgeons, you name it. I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis (even though I didn't have psoriasis, and my bloodwork came back negative for any arthritis signals) and put on steroids. Another doc diagnosed me with Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome, which was soon contradicted by two other doctors I saw. Finally, I saw an orthopedic surgeon who didn't give me a crazy diagnosis: she just said, "You have been off of this foot for too long, and now everything is inflamed. It's going to hurt, but you need to just try to walk on it again, because every month that you stay off it, it's just going to get harder." (FOR PART TWO, SEE DR. I came to Berkeley-Orinda Oral Surgery 5 years ago for extractions, and had to come back again this week. This time my doctor was Dr. Irving, and he is amazing! He is kind, calm, has incredible expertise and knowledge, and is handsome! :) I felt reassured when I met him for my consultation a couple weeks ago--this place and their doctors really instill trust. I have a fear of needles and stubborn teeth, so I decided to go for sedation, and I'm so glad I did! I did get faint when the IV went in, (which happens to me regularly) but I let the team know, and they handled it really well. I was awake before I knew it, and have had very little pain. Dr. Irving called me later that evening to check on me, which was much appreciated. If you need to get oral surgery of any kind, this is the place to go. If I decide to get implants, I will come back here. All the office staff are great and helpful, and Dr. Irving and his team (Velvet, and a nice nurse) were amazing, and I highly recommend B.O.O.S.

After seeing the MRI and xray , three surgeons immediately agreed to o operate, My husband has no prior knee injuries or arthritis. He is a mountaineer, backcountry skier, expert alpine skier and soccer player. He did not read his notes and when told about a recent tragedy in our family, he asked meanly why we there. When I started crying he ordered me to " get control of myself. " Twice. Maybe it was a bad day, but as another doctor said, who he refused to operate on because of gender, why is he still practicing? One has to wonder.
