Dr. Angeles has been my dermatologist for several years. Her demeanor is innately a combination of professional, kind, caring, cordial, and likable, always greeting patients with a smile. She is an exceptional communicator, who's genuine, direct, empathetic, and compassionate. Perhaps, the shortage of dermatologists at Jefferson that causes 5 month wait times (but, you can get on a waitlist, and there's oftentimes cancellations, which you can receive alerts from on Jefferson's app, "My Chart"- a one stop shop, and must download for any Jefferson Health patient) is accredited to the hiring team measuring all other dermatologists against Dr. Angles' extraordinary standard of knowledge, care, and experience? Dr. Angeles does not keep her patients waiting, because she's considerate. Her depth of knowledge, and experience aids her to ask pertinent questions, commencing with family history of skin cancer, so she has the comprehensive information to perform examinations, provide solutions, all to be cognizant of anything and everything that's within the best interest of her patients. Her examinations are thorough, attentive, and informational. As she looks over every millimeter of your skin, she'll identify any lesion, problematic or not, from head to toes; angiomas, scars, dermatitis, moles, ingrown hairs, etc. On the day of my appointment, Dr. Angeles had a resident with her, John Miller, a PA native, who first came into the room to speak with me. Remember his name, because, as someone who was pre-med, majored in biology, taught bio lab, etc, I had classes with hundreds of students that went to medical school, and can recognize someone with incredible talent, and that "it" factor that differentiates stars. John Miller has the tools, personality, and knowledge to flourish. He has qualities, both learned and innate, which elevate him over his peers." His poise, discerning questions, friendliness, sympathy, kindness, and truly genuine care for others is remarkable. He's going to be a phenomenal dermatologist, especially absorbing all that Dr. Angeles embodies; brilliant judgement is accurate, careful and detailed options provides clarity, and reliable treatment. Lastly, Dr. Angeles, was very attentive to my behavioral cues, a part of communication that few occupy, let alone perform with accuracy. As I stated, Dr. Angeles has a packed schedule, with many patients who need her time. Because she knew my history, and life, she ascertained from my mood, behavior, voice, answers provided, and photos/emails stored on my phone, that I required what I did not expect- immense generosity, compassionate, tenderness, warmth, and advice/direction that she knew I was aware of, but repeated, and accentuated, to instill the sense of urgency, timeliness, and importance that I afford others, but oftentimes to my detriment, or don't think of doing the same for myself. I am grateful that she's my doctor. I don't take her for granted, and I have the utmost respect for her as both a doctor, and a human being. I had a cut on my face that was pretty deep and I was worried about it scarring. I made the…read moreappointment and dr.Ehrlich took me in the same day. A lot of the places I called only did beauty treatments and not an actual medical office. Dr.Ehrlich educated me on the human skin and how scarring works in detail, unlike some doctors who tell you no medical explanations. I also asked him a bunch of other random questions about the human skin and Dr.Ehrlich never looked annoyed or hurried me out the door. He told me he could re-glue my cut but wouldn't see much improvement since my cut is pretty small, and the it seemed to be glued pretty tight. He gave me advice on how I can minimize scarring, and I checked back in months later for follow up. He was right and it did not scar a lot, and I was happy with it. But most importantly, he let me have a peace of mind that it's going to be fine while I was waiting for to heal. I'd definitely recommend Dr.Ehrlich if you get any kind of cut where you don't want it to get botched, he seemed to have extensive knowledge and experience.

However, my experience with him was extraordinarily disappointing and I would not recommend him to anyone, particularly anyone who has large numbers of moles. I have seen 5 dermatologists over the past 10 years, bringing my total body photography (print and digital images of all my moles) with me, and most doctors spend a good 20 - 30 minutes looking over each image and checking it against the moles on my body. These days they mostly look at the digital images, enlarging them on a computer screen and comparing them to particular moles. During my appointment with Dr. Sherwin, he spent a maybe 5 minutes looking over my moles (I have hundreds of moles all over my body) and dismissed the use of magnifying lenses or other examination tools. When I asked why he had not competed the moles to the images and used a magnifying glass or the magnifying lenses he was wearing, he stated that his 44 years of experience were better than any of those tools. He was extremely dismissive of my questions and worry, and spent most of our appointment attempting to impress me with stories about his Ph.D. research at Penn in the mid 1970's on cancer and HIV, how his mentor should have won the Nobel prize. This might have been true but I did not see how it applied to my moles or worry that he was not taking my cancer risk seriously and notably, his discussion of HIV was incorrect, I know this because I happen to be a professor who does HIV research. Further, this was my first appointment, yet unlike any other dermatologist I have seen, he did not ask about my use of sunscreen, hats or other lifestyle choices that affect cancer risk, only asking if I was careful about the sun, to which I said yes, and then he cut off my follow up comment with more stories about his research. Overall, I have a lot of anxiety about my cancer risk, because it is high, and nothing was said or done to discuss ways to mitigate it. Overall, I left the appointment feeling rather small, with no sense that I had been properly examined or thought about. I suspect Dr. Sherwin is a good practitioner, has he been in practice for a long time, has an excellent pedigree and I know people who speak well of him. But my experience was almost wholly negative, and I will not be going back. In addition to his dermatological examination I was frustrated that he removed his mask several times while speaking 2 - 3 feet away from me, was not wearing it properly when it was on (not over the nose). I understand that masks can be uncomfortable, but they are an important protection against COVID-19 these days and I was really surprised to see a medical professional who interacts with many people in small rooms each day being so cavalier about my health and potential exposure.

It was exceedingly quick and non-eventful, and I didn't feel especially positive or negative afterward so I skipped leaving a review. Fast forward a couple years, and I develop a rash in my armpit and a cyst on my thigh all within a few weeks of one another. The rash was getting worse so I decided to make an appointment with a skin specialist. On the day I decided to do this, the office was closed, but I found you could schedule your own appointment via ZocDoc, which I did, for the very next day! The front desk staff were extremely nice, and the medical assistant who worked with me was even more kind. I'm kinda mad at myself that I forgot her name, but she was great. Ari Gordon was the PA who saw me, and he gave me answers/advice/prescriptions for all of my problems. While I was there I figured I'd also get a wart on my toe treated, which he did while doing his best to be supportive through the surprising amount of pain the cryotherapy caused. I have a follow-up scheduled with him in a few weeks and can now confidently say I had a good experience here and will be back! The whole process was very convenient and low-stress.

I was referred to Dr. Farole by my primary Dr. Rosenfeld for a wisdom tooth extraction. To be…read morehonest, I had called another office referral first but they couldn't get me in fast enough. Dr Farole's availability worked much better in this instance. My top right tooth started to pop out of its gum on the front end, and I still had 3 total remaining including the one popping out, so my dentist recommended I have all remaining evaluated. My consult copay was $50. The office was very well organized in my opinion. You can opt-in for text message or email updates, appointment notifications can be managed via text, and I was able to get my new patient paperwork in prior to my first appointment for smooth sailing. Dr. Farole and all the staff were very friendly and had a great bedside manner and demeanor in their approach. Dr. Farole had explained to me both pros and cons of removing just the 1 giving me the problem, or removing all at the same time. We ultimately decided to get rid of all of them and go under general anesthesia. This was my first general anesthesia experience of my life, and as a relatively anxious person - I'm here to tell the rest of you that there is absolutely nothing to be scared of. I know there are a couple of terrifying reviews on here of people waking up in pain screaming and the staff laughing... I have to say that I truly wonder if the people that wrote those reviews were still under the influence of the drugs and remember incorrectly.. but either way I'm here to tell you that absolutely was NOT my experience. I don't even remember falling asleep. It was easy to drift off to sleep, easy to wake up - and it was not scary. The staff did make jokes here and there, but nothing unprofessional - I really think they're just trying to put you at ease and show you there's nothing to worry about ! One thing I loved is that they allow you to choose the music you want before your procedure. I put my favorite music on, I remember chatting to them about work, and the next thing I know I was waking up with the gauze in my mouth and them instructing me of my next steps. I scheduled my follow up about 1 week out from the procedure (no copay for that) and Dr. Farole will check on your healing progress, check for infection, etc. Make sure to follow the instructions they provide you for recovery. Based on my experience, I would recommend Dr. Farole and his team for your wisdom teeth extraction! I can't speak to anything else, but I'd trust them with my care.

Woke up during surgery and was screaming in pain…read more Called in for more pain killers a few days after and the lady who answered the phone didn't recognize who I was, and I told her I was the one who woke up while under anesthesia, she started to laugh. During the follow up visit I was told as soon as the doctor walked in the room that I was a "crazy woman." While looking at my teeth I was told I was "acting like a child" when I flinched and was poking me with a qtip, it was not gentle. He had no empathy and was very unprofessional, no customer should be treated this way. Most of the staff was nice and I feel bad they have to work for him.

Poison ivy! Unable to control the rash with OTC medication, and equally unable to control her scratching, it soon spread to most areas of her skin. First, I called my current dermatologist for an appointment, but could only leave a voice message with their promise to get back to me within 48 hours. What!? Sorry, but that will not do in this emergency. Second call was to PennMed, our PCP, and to their Department of Dermatology in University City, Philadelphia. I was immediately able to speak with someone in that office, who in turn, was able to offer us an appointment that same afternoon at their facility at 3737 Market Street, 11th floor. It's only about a 40 minute drive from Bucks County and we jumped in the car to be there on time. The waiting room was clean, bright and offered a great view of West Philly and Center City skyline. Turned out that the doctor, Emily Hejazi, MD, was working her first shift for PennMed, and thus had no standing book of patients to see. We lucked out. She was friendly and comprehensive. She quickly knew the diagnosis and the appropriate treatment. Two creams for body and face, and pills to work internally over five days. Steroidal, yes, but the quickest and proven way to deal with both symptoms and cause. My lady woke up this morning after sleeping through the night without itch, and noticed that the bumpy red rash had already reduced its ugly signature on her arms and torso, and that she was on the road to recovery. She was in a much better mood. PennMed Dermatology to the rescue! We can't thank Dr. Hejazi enough, as well as the totally competent and engaging medical staff that handled intake and preliminary evaluation. All this, while we still wait for the callback from our regular dermatologist. Or, should I say, our FORMER dermatologist!?

I'm 65, and my Penn dermatologist found a tiny spot on my forehead during a routine screening,…read morebiopsied it, and determined that it was Basal Cell Carcinoma, a common, slow growing cancer that rarely metastasizes. I had a tiny spot of BSC on my chest removed in 2019 and have just a faint white star-shaped scar. He referred me to the Mohs Dermatologic Surgery office, where he said that thin slices would be removed from my *tiny* BSC spot to avoid facial scarring. The Mohs surgery office provided me with absolutely no information about what was involved (other than to tell me to bring a book and some lunch). Three hours after the first "slice," I was told that they got it all in one pass. I expected a Band-aid. Instead, I have a divot in my forehead, twenty stitches on my face over two inches, and a droopy eyelid. I was ill-informed and pressured into a surgery I would NEVER have agreed to had I known what was involved. I'm not including a photo here to preserve my privacy, but trust me, I look awful.
