I could not see the in office periodontist without the general dentist evaluation. I was in pain and frustrated with thier red tape policy. She wrote on MyChart I was rude! As a trained doctor she should know it is frustration with being in pain so long. The staff was rude and unempathetic, and Dr. Cabana is unprofessional. I would not go to thr office under any circumstances, very bad experience. I went to another office and was seen by a specialist within a few days. They understood it is a priority when a person is in pain. Poor medical decision made by periodontist at Rancho Mirage Dental Office insisting I have full eval from a general dentist first. I came back today, a month later and all I wanted was a basic cleaning, and my cavity filled. First the price for the cavity went from$53 on the first quote, to $97 today. Her reasoning was that "they under quote in the beginning, and then see what insurance says". Right. Got it. THEN They refused to give me a basic standard insurance covered cleaning, because the dentist recommended a deep pocket cleaning and a laser treatment( not covered by insurance..) It was going to be $497 for a cleaning and a filling. Nope. Don't go here. Beware of shady practices.

After I challenged that claim, it suddenly became merely "office protocol." There was no empathy, no effort to understand my medical concerns, and no basic courtesy. I was then told there were no X-ray appointments available before August 20......then, after I questioned that, an appointment magically became available the morning of my cleaning. The qualified clinical staff have been so far ok. Just wanted to share an update on my previous experience. I ended up seeing the endodontist, and…read moreunfortunately the tooth couldn't be saved. I've had extractions before, but only with an oral surgeon, so this was my first time having a tooth pulled in a regular dental office. Dr. Jang was amazing. I actually felt a little bad for him because that tooth really put up a fight. It also didn't help that I have TMJ, so opening my mouth wide for long periods can be painful and sometimes causes it to lock. Despite all of that, he handled it like a champ. When everything was finished and I saw the number of instruments he had used, I thought, sheesh. Dr. Jang definitely earned MVP status on that one. After the procedure he apologized for how long it took and let me know I'd likely have pain afterward, advising me to stay ahead of it with the prescribed medication. The numbing has mostly worn off now, and so far I've only needed to take Motrin 800, which is a win for me since I generally avoid stronger pain meds. At the moment my pain level is about a 1.5 - just a dull ache where the tooth was, which honestly feels about the same as when the tooth was still there. My jaw is a little sore, which I expected given the circumstances, but otherwise I'm doing well. We'll see how day one after the procedure goes. Overall, I highly recommend this office. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and professional. Dr. Jang is kind, straightforward, and efficient. The whole place runs like a well-oiled machine, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
