Today I had a appointment for my daughter, She is 4 years old and today was her first visit, we were excited in taking her and also thought it would be a great experience, but we thought wrong.I will NEVER take her AGAIN! Dr. honey, comes and automatically puts her hand to our daughters face because she was crying and scared. My poor daughter was crying more because she was more SCARED of her. She totally looks like a character from the Grinch, That Dr. needs to go back to acting in The Grinch Stole Christmas. I do NOT recommend that office specially for young children! Meh. I've experienced better. Front desk personnel is rude and pushy. Overcharges what they want, not according to insurance. I proved them wrong on several occasions. I had to bring in my insurance coverage booklet to prove the actual copays and call my insurance to make sure they were using the proper codes. Office appears clean (1 star). Hygienist was thorough with a regular cleaning (1/2 star), but always suggested to do a deep cleaning ($$$). Dentist didn't really care about my concerns, only what he thought. Ended up having only a couple fillings done here, and they have not yet failed (1/2 star). But I wouldn't do more. Got a second opinion elsewhere and didn't need the costly onlays/crowns suggested, where fillings sufficed. It's important to do your due diligence with any dental decisions, and not same day procedures. My 10 cents. read more

Terrible experience. The physician had no patience for children--who are typically scared of the dentist. We could tell she lacked experience and empathy for frightened children. Instead of trying to distract my child from crying, she placed her hand in my child's face and yelled at her to "stop." She then grabbed my child's arm and tried to remove her from the chair. Shadow Hills Dental Care should warn patients while making appointments that their staff does not have any patience or experience with children. They were aware of my child's age while scheduling an appointment but did not warn us that they are not child-friendly. Very disappointed with their lack of professionalism. read more

Don't waste your time. They only give one hour time slots which is why they put off my root canal after me telling them through multiple sessions I wanted fixed first because it was causing me pain. What an amazing dental office Shadow Hills Dental is. I went to numerous dentist in the Coachella valley before committing to get my dental work done with Dr. J. Compared to other dentist in the area, you will not find another dental group with the professionalism that Shadow hills has. The whole facility is extremely clean The staff is always very kind. Was referred to them by my actual dentist for a tooth extraction. Originally had to go in for consultation before I can get it pulled but due to the pain I was in they agreed to do it all in one visit. They are very professional and friendly and understanding. The oral surgeon had the tooth out faster than they had me numbed (it takes a lot to numb me.) Definitely recommend this place. The best part for me was they take Medi-Cal / IEHP. read more

This dental office used to be amazing. But this visit I had an appointment at 9am I showed up at 845 to check in. Waiting room was so packed and uncomfortable. I checked in sat down and an hour and a half went by and it still wasn't my turn. People that showed up way after me got called in. So I just finally left. I highly recommend checking out Shadow Hills Dental with Dr. Chris. It is a very busy office and you can expect a little bit of a wait for procedures but cleanings run on time so don't be late! I noticed a paper that had expected wait times posted in the front lobby which was busy. Dr Chris reviewed my X-rays and was straight forward. There was no selling of extra services. Also good to know only your exam is done on the first appointment and you have to schedule a cleaning on a different day. I got super lucky and there was room in the schedule to bring me back later that day for my cleaning! Super clean office and amazing staff! read more

I don't know what it is about dental practices and dentists don't understand when your given a diognosis and you tell them, I CAN'T AFFORD THIS! Insurance doesn't pay for much if at all. They can offer you interest free financing, or direct and invite you to open a special credit card, and they still don't understand that for many of us, it becomes a matter of having a dental procedure or food in your table..... So, I've had some dental issues over the last several months. The first dentist gifted me what is common practice, full mouth xrays, and teeth cleaning. I was very disappointed in the quality of the work done, and the length of time I sat in the waiting room, AND in the chair. But that's another review. So, I had full xrays taken. I was told that I needed a type of root canal where the dentist would go up under my gum, and they didn't so that at this practice. I was given a referral to another local dental group. Knowing that root canals are very expensive, I told the dentist I would have to go to Mexico were I could have quality work done at a fraction of the cost. I was given a script for an antibiotic and a pain killer, Tylenol 3. The course of treatment worked and I no longer had any pain. Several weeks later I went back to this dentist when the pain returned. I was told that there was nothing going on with this molar. I was FLOORED that this tooth went from needing a root canal to, go home all is well. Now between this practice and the previous dentist my teeth have had a miracle recovery. Fast forward to yesterday. I made an emergency call to the practice. I was in a great deal of pain and I knew full well, I was going to need a course of antibiotics. I have a preexisting condition that would require antibiotics in my system before I had any procedure done. While the dentist was pleasant enough, I received somewhat the same diognosis, and added, I was going to be refereed to another practice for a second set of eyes. I was not offered an antibiotics (I also take antibiotics ONLY when needed, as in, I don't "abuse" them in lieu of taking them indiscriminately). I told the dentist my pain level was more than just a boo boo hurt. I had been using Oragel, and it helped, yet the numbing didn't last long. It was my fault for not stressing to him that I needed these two medications. The dentist left, and never returned. The hygienist gave me the names of two other endos who would provide this dentist a second opinion. Once home I called these practices. I asked what kind of fees I would be looking at, if any. HA! The JOKE was on ME. Why would I ever think I'd be getting a service gratis. Noooo. The consolation would be $270! If I needed a root canal, that started at $1700.! Where was I supposed to pull 2 grand out of, my A$$? Today I made an appointment to go to Mexico and have my teeth looked at, asked about prices. It will be a fraction of the United States cost. After I made the appointment, I called Shadow Hills, and told them I was set up to travel to Mexico, but I needed to have antibiotics IN me before I had any work done. I also asked if I could have my Tylenol 3 refilled. I was told I could not. I hung up and started to cry. Not only was I in significant pain, but I felt they were treating me like I was a junkie. Then I was called back about an hour later and was offered antibiotics. I told them to forget it, I was on my way to my Urgent Care. I spoke with the doctor there who saw me as a viable person and sent a script to the pharmacy. I thanked him for listening to me and treating me like a person who was/is in pain, and not like a drug abuser. I probably won't be welcomed back to this practice because of this review, but it needed to be said. read more

Worst experience of my life!!! Dr Silva is a JOKE On November 3 I arrived at Shadow Hills Dental for my appointment to have a deep cleaning also an exam by Dr. Silva as well as any needed fillings and a preparation for my permanent crown placement. Dr. Silva examined my x-rays and he recommended two fillings on the upper left side of my mouth he also said that he would prep the crown tooth so there can be an impression taken and a permanent crown ordered and seeded once it arrived from the lab. Dr. Silva said he would return shortly and he would have one of the secretaries go over the plan for the day. Shortly thereafter the office manager Melissa came in and told me that my total out-of-pocket for today's visit would be $2200 and that included seven fillings and two crowns. I told her that I had no idea what she was talking about and that there must be some sort of a mistake. Dr. Silva told me that there would be two fillings and only one crown preparation, since I have paid for my crown I paid the crown in full in 2013. Since 2013 I have not been able to have my permanent crown seated due to Dr. Silva cracking the permanent crown twice. Dr. Silva came into the exam room and interrupted and he stated that he didn't care what he told me all he knew was that I needed this treatment and if I am denying it then I can just leave I told Dr. Silva that I was confused because he told me one thing and now the Office secretary is telling me something else Dr. Silva said placed his hand in front of my face and said " listen, I don't care what I just told you." I have had to have repeated visits to the dental office to have temporary crowns placed on my tooth and I have had several impressions taken and sent to the lab to have a permanent crown made. I made two payments for my permanent crown one was $300 and the second payment was $400 both payments were made in January 2013. Through the course of the last two years I have been in and out of the office having temporary crowns placed on my tooth and waiting for my permanent crown to come from the lab. The last time that I attempted to have my permanent crown seeded the office staff could not find the crown in the office they apologized and told me they would have the the lab send another one and they would call me when it arrived they never called me. When I was having this conversation with the office manager Melissa I was expressing to her my frustrations with the whole situation Dr. Silva took it upon himself to come out to the reception area and he told me that "I needed to just find the door as quickly as possible and don't let it hit me on the way out". He also proceeded to tell me "you can take everything that you are saying and you can shove it " "just shove it" he also stated "I am not going to talk to you anymore and you can take your bullshit out of my office" When I told him that he had cracked my crown twice he told me "that doesn't matter you have not been compliant and had you come in sooner this wouldn't of happened". He called me "ignorant". I told him that I have been compliant I have been coming to the office several times and each time that I come he either cracks my crown or they can't find it and they have to put a temporary on that just falls off two weeks later. The computer systems never came up and running I got the business card of the owner and the manager told me that the owner would be following up with me regarding this matter I told the secretary and the office manager that I wanted my money back for the crown that I never received and they told me that that was not possible. All they told me was that they would have the owners take a look at the matter and they would get back to me. This has been by far the most incredibly embarrassing and appalling experience I've ever had at any doctors office. The level of unprofessionalism is outrageous I am simply horrified that Dr. Silva has a license to provide care to patients he is very aggressive and very derogatory. In my opinion he is either under the influence of some sort of substance or he flat out does not care about his license as a medical professional. The way he spoke to me and the way he treated me was absolutely uncalled for and unwarranted. I believe a thorough investigation should be done on his practice. read more

Everyone here is very friendly and professional. I have been going to Dr. Kodet for years, even before he was at Shadow Hills. He doesn't recommend costly, unnecessary procedures like some dentists that I have heard about. You can trust his recommendations. The visits have never been painful. Highly recommended! To the earlier reviewer Franklin: they do actually volunteer to do pro-bono work through a community organization. It is unlikely that they would for random individuals walking in. read more

Had a root canal and crown procedure performed at this business and I could not be more pleased with the results, I am writing this review several months later (to ensure that there were no problems). The staff of very friendly and willing to get to know you, the rates for the quality of work performed were outstanding compared to other local offices. My only issue was having to come back a second time after my crown was accidentally cracked while being put in by assistant, also female dentist or endodontist accidentally administered Shots on wrong gum and had to re apply on side being treated, other than that my visits and service where exemplary and I would definitely recommend and return for future procedures. read more

Went to Shadow Hills Dental with 2 broken front teeth. Worked with Dr. Chris. He is from Palm Desert and returned to work after graduating dental school in Boston. He explained its a busy clinic but the treatment was covered by medical through Borrego Health! He was able to text me the same day and gave me a run down of what I needed. They have it posted in the front waiting area the average wait times for different procedures, sometimes it's fast and others you have to wait a bit. Overall happy with their staff and would definitely recommend to friends and family. read more

Went to get one of my wisdom teeth pulled because it was infected. Waiting room was packed and super small. When I went to the back there were so many patients. The doctor was good but man it hurt like hell. And she didn't stop when I was screaming either. If your looking for a place that is personable and caring don't go here. Amazing amazing staff! It can be a long wait but they have a lot of patients and are a very busy office. Dr. Chris is great, very straight forward and doesn't try to sell you on procedures you don't need. Jessica is a fantastic assistant very kind and understanding of anxiety with dentists. They have student dentist that come in to do intern hours... I was nervous at first but one of the students ended up being the nicest and the dentist I wanted to see. You can only do one procedure at a time so that can be a little daunting to have to go back a few times. Overall great experience!! read more

This is the first time I've ever posted a review. There's a cliché among consumers that says to never ever take anything offered for FREE because you get what you pay for and your value to the business is equal to what you pay. Shadow Hills Dental has proven that sage advice to be true. If you're considering responding to their Tidbits advertisement for free dental work, please be very diligent investigating what you're getting. That is unless you're a family with a lot of young children who will require a lot of dental work over the long term. Those families are treated like royalty. However, if you're like me, a senior with very little dental work left to be done, you'll be treated like a peasant, invisible, irrelevant and undesirable. I had my free appointment three months ago in October and because I'm a veteran, I was told I'd receive new dentures free. Unfortunately ever since that first appointment each time I call, no matter what day of the week or time of day, I get an answering machine message that says: (paraphrased) "sorry we're with a patient that we actually care about, leave a message and we'll get back to you in a couple of weeks." It always takes at least a week or two for them to return my call. They always leave a message for me to call to schedule an appointment. I was getting frustrated and tired of the phone tag, so at least two times, I made a direct request that when they call me, instead of leaving a message for me to call them back, to please just leave a day and time for me to come in for an appointment. They won't even show that much respect. read more

Can I just say I love this dentist?! Seriously, I haven't been to the dentist in awhile, I had to bring myself to go see one and I was terrified due to past experiences. I was referred here by a friend. I thought my wisdom tooth was coming in due to having pain. They had initally told me that my first appt. as a new patient, would be a week later. I called back that same day and asked if I could be seen any sooner since I was in pain and the woman told if I could make it in at 1pm that same day. Of course, I rushed over and spent only about an hour and a half there or so. Impressive as I was scheduled in last minute. Turns out all I had was a couple of cavities which I almost needed a root canal for, but Dr. Chris said he could save it with a filling. Today I went in and had my first filling done. I freaked out when I saw the needle, but I did not feel A THING! At all. No pain whatsoever. This place has made me feel so comfortable going to the dentist again. If you have denti-cal this dentist office will take full advantage of you, the place is always crowded full of people the dentist are so rude, it shouldn't take five or six shots to numb a mouth but with them it does and they keep you sitting there for two hours.. they literally would do one filing at a time instead of doing two or three at time taking full advantage of denti-cal.... I had to bring my child with me they kept me waiting two hours so of course the child would get upset and I was told to my face by a dentist I was not allowed and I needed to control my one year old child WOW I wanted to scream at him for being so rude. I was schedule for wisdom teeth removal and was told by the dentist all four would be taken out , I waited two months and when I get there they tell me my insurance only covers one at a time, come to find out my insurance covers all four but instead of getting them approved the lied and said it was only one at a time. They also made me wait two months knowing I needed more filing... I decided to go to a different dentist come to find out I still have 9 cavities and they have to fix half of the filing shadow hills did cause they left bacteria in the hole and filed it on top of the bacteria.. they take full advantage of insurance and do a horrible job the place should be closed for mal practice. read more

My first time in this office and had to have a wisdom tooth extracted.The office assistants were polite and talked me through my fears. Dr Aghaloo has a wonderfully calming chair side manner and in the blink of an eye, had that tooth out. Eight hours later, I even got a check up call. And I was happy to report little pain and all is well. I recommend this office wholeheartedly. If a coward like me can be at ease here, everyone will love this dentist. read more

I was referred to Shadow Hills Dental by Borrego Health Clinic. Due to soft enamel I spent a great deal of money to crown my teeth when I was in my 40's and as part of my daily maintenance thinking I was doing myself a favor, I over-used my Sonic Care toothbrush on a daily basis. Because Shadow Hills does service for Veterans and I have been dealing with damage to my teeth due to the overuse of my Sonic Care toothbrush - my teeth had been breaking off at the base of the crown rapidly. My first visit was disappointing due to the fact I am a heart patient on blood thinners (baby aspirin) so they could do nothing until I was released by my cardio doctors. It took 3 months before that approval came thru and I finally was able to set an appointment with Shadow Hills - by this time I had developed an infection - when I got into the chair the dentist told me it wouldn't be much of a problem to deal with. Then he left the room "to confer" and one of their techs returned with a prescription for me to visit any emergency room. No further explanation was given and they just shuffled me out the door, prescription to "any emergency room" in hand. I realize the appointment was pro bono for a Veteran but the least that could have been done is to explain the problem and provide a prescription to cover the infection, but none was forthcoming. I find this rude and disturbing and hope no one else suffers this kind of embarrassment. read more

Such a great experience! I personally hate going to any Dentist office, but the staff (Melissa and Marissa) were super friendly and welcoming. The Dr. was really nice and to the point and gave me a few recommendations on the work I need and should do. He made me feel better and reassuring me that it would not hurt. I had an impacted wisdom tooth taken out. It literally took about 4 minutes, it was over before I knew it! I will definitely be going back in the future for any dental work and will recommend this place to all of my friends. read more
