Reposting my original review and the reply from the owner below. While I appreciate that the Company isn't trying to deny what happened. It is a little odd to see the owner replying on here rather than calling us originally and handling this mess. For a comapny that "pride [itself] on our quality, reputation and relationships with customers," this seems at odds. It is also important to know the reputation qualtiy and relationship established here. Members of the community deserve to know what to expect. D&R shouldn't be taking on any jobs or coming out for estimates if they are going to bail and can't do the work. If I could give zero stars I would. As someone that reads reviews I write this in the hopes that someone avoids the headache we did in working with D&R. D&R was recommended to us through a home inspection company as a premier company to handle water issues in our split face block building. Bill came out and inspected the property and was working with us to get estimates and contractors out. Long story short after 3 months of working with us D&R bailed citing that they lost caprenters and could no longer GC work for our HOA and building. AFter 3 months and multiple site visits we had to go back to the drawing board and interview new companys all over again. When we told them how unprofessional it all was the officer manager said there was nothing she could do but say sorry. When we asked if they could refer us to someone else to help us they said no and said we could look up licensing agencies and essentially cold call contractors. Two years ago D/R services used AWM roofing to build a new roof on our house. While it was still under warranty the roof began letting in water through a wire to a rooftop HVAC unit. Instead of immediately taking responsibility, Lance blamed it on our HVAC service provider, and we had to call the HVAC provider out to our property to verify that they never touched the wire opening in question (holes on the roof through which water is entering our house are below). At that point, Lance finally told us that he'd reached out to AWM to repair the defects on the roof, and that they would do so "next time he is in your area." That was over a month ago and both Lance and AWM have been blowing us off. Communication has been abysmal: we only get updates when we beg for them, and they are always of the "haven't heard from then/haven't gotten around to it yet" variety. Do not use D/R Services. They will do defective work for a high price, then treat you like an inconvenience when you try to get them to fix it. read more

Slow, rude and expensive, these guys were a real pain to work with. Contract at your own risk. I had a skylight that needed replaced and contacted DR Services back in February. They proceeded to quickly schedule a visit, collected my deposit, and promised to replace "as soon as possible". From then, it took them whole 3 months (!!!!) to schedule a repair that took less than 2 hrs to complete. In between, were countless calls and emails of frustrated desperation, trying to figure out what on earth is taking them so long. The worst part about working with DR Services was how most of the time it was impossible to reach a real person in their office. Whenever a real person could be reached - typically Lance or Richard, they were curt and condescending ("Oh, so you are one of those people who wants to look at pretty pictures, aren't you", one of them replied in a patronizing voice when I requested to review the (very expensive) product they were encouraging me to purchase). The gang only seemed to respond with any sort of urgency at times when I would threaten to pull out of the project. The skylight was finally replaced mid-may, but to add insult to the injury, it was installed without the crank rod for opening and closing the window. It took another two weeks & more calls/emails for the rod to arrive, and I had to install it myself. A major part of the job (drywall repair) was not completed because they did not have a guy to do it soon enough (?!?). Even then, it ended up costing $2100, which has since been described as a "gross overestimation" by another contractor (who finished the drywall repair within two weeks from my initial call). The only good thing about this experience is the knowledge I will never have to work with them again. read more

I found these guys when I was networking. I am a state licensed Home Inspector and weary of contractors. I met one of the owners and got to know him. I looked at a lot of his work and found it to be of very high quality. I even had D/R remodel my wife's bathroom and they came up with some suggestions that lowered the cost of the materials but also increased the quality and durability. I have referred them to hundreds of clients and never heard a bad thing back. Sure, they sometimes are a little slow getting back to you,m but they are busy. And they are busy because they are good. I have found that D/R can do anything from replacing a sink disposer (which the did for me also) to building a new room addition. They are also very well trained and effective in dealing with the recent problems we have been having in Chicago with regards to water intrusion problems in split faced concrete block buildings. I have worked with them on many of these projects. They may cost a little more than the proverbial "two guys in a white panel van", but they will still be around next week unlike the others. BTW: They are also NARI Certified Master Remodelers, with the training and continuing education requirements that entails. read more

I used DR Services for some handyman work around my house and they completed the work on time and were very tidy and professional. After this work was completed I had them complete an extensive kitchen remodel. I am thrilled with the finished product. I would recommend them for home remodeling or small handyman work. read more

I contracted with this company to perform a complete bathroom remodel, install doors/hardware and other handyman stuff. D/R performed the work on time and according to budget. D/R performed the work continuously on the project, so that the construction did not drag on longer than its should have. The company was especially good at communicating any and all issues which necessarily arise with a construction project of this size. D/R's professional, Will, had good ideas about the design of the bathroom, which in turn, made the bathroom look better than I planned and expected. They definitely know what they are doing and will suggest adding/removing materials/labor based upon the best construction practices, allowing you not to worry if you missed something or don't even know what questions to even ask. While not looking forward to the next construction project, I am looking forward to using this company again. read more

DR Services is a first-rate company, that we first used almost fifteen years ago on a major project. They are punctional and professional craftsmen. Most importantly, they stand by their work and are honest and trustworthy. We highly recommend them for everything from major projects to minor repairs. read more

We had D/R Services come out in September to do some siding/rotten wood repair before painting the exterior of our home. After receiving an estimate for about $1300 I told them to go ahead with the work that needed to be done (cedar siding boards, shed siding, patio door frame and sliding door frame). The carpenter they sent to do the work took two times longer than expected even AFTER sending another person the first day. He was slow and didn't update me with any pricing that was to change from the original estimate. After almost a week of work (which was supposed to take 2 days) and then not even changing the cedar siding boards, but filling them with wood filler (which my painter would have done for free) I receive an invoice for double the amount. Then after much discussion, they were willing to meet me in the middle of the original estimate and final invoice (a difference of about $600). After a couple months I received a call asking for the rest of the payment. After sending the original strain of emails, he said he made note of the mistake on their end and I would not be bothered again. However, then a few more months went by and I received ANOTHER call about the rest of the payment. I have since spoken to someone on the phone as well as emailed them making sure it has been noted and resolved so I don't get bothered with this again. Unfortunately, I do not recommend them. The work they did is fine, but after not being updated as I should have been and kept in the loop with the changes and time spent, I will not be using them again. read more
