I confirmed with the receptionist that I was at the correct place. The carpet was old and stained and needed cleaning. The seating was dated from the 1970s and needed repairs. I was eventually taken to the back in an area used to perform medical procedures. Privacy was not a high standard for changing into a gown. I'm surprised HIPPA violations have not been filed. The smell from the waiting room lingered to the back. He stated he would clean and numb the area on my upper spine. The procedure was very painful with a small bandaid for any bleeding. I paid more than half the cost to wait for my insurance to pick up the difference. After a follow up with my back doctor I found out I had contracted MERSA. Dr. Mena with South Texas spinal was the only medical clinic I had been to. Dr. mena was informed and not concerned. I was treated for 6 weeks with expensive antibiotics. I have a grouped payment plan with Methodist Health since my back surgery. I'm retired and live on a fixed income. I have been making payments to Dr Mena through Methodist plan. They still sent me to collections for last than $200. Dr. Mena should pay for the antibiotics and treatment for MERSA. I would never recommend care at this facility.

From scheduling the first appointment to the surgery to the post-op care, I cannot say enough about how the great the care is / was. Calling or emailing with questions, insurance needs etc. they have always had time for me and providing help / assistance. For my situation I had loss of range of motion occurring / progressing for a long time and did not know what was the cause. Then a light switch turned and my condition degraded into bone on bone pain from hip arthritis. I then went to a local "specialist" in Corpus Christi as I live hear there. After I determined that I did not want to have surgery in Corpus Christi, I waited 3 years after the bone on bone condition started, dreading what I thought the surgery and the recovery would be. When I finally had enough, I did research on the best specialist I could find, the most experienced, the best reviews, searching in Houston and San Antonio as we live in South Texas, and I chose and I am grateful I found Dr. Broome & San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists. I chose the Tissue sparing method of hip replacement, Anterior hip replacement. I was concerned as everyone I expect would be about pain and recovery. I expected bone pain just because of thinking what would occur during the surgery. For me, there was no "bone pain" with the surgery, as they told me there usually is not. With me waiting 3 years, my hip ball degraded & wore down about 3/4", this also affected my back. For my surgery this required stretching the muscles to allow making the new hip be the same length as the non arthritic hip. This was the only pain I experienced, muscle pain. All aspects of the hip replacement, scheduling, appointments, pre-op, surgery and post op have been great, beyond what I ever could have expected. Also the Doctor's owned Hospital, where I had my surgery, South Texas Spine and Surgical Hospital is Great, and that will be in another review. Doctor Broome has an app for recovery therapy or I can go to regular therapy. The app is what I used. Daily exercises that change regimen each progressing week and this is getting my range of motion back. Before surgery, I had a tough time of reaching my right foot, putting on shoes and socks, bathing, etc., putting on pants, picking up things off of the floor, carrying things that were heavy, kneeling down, standing, walking, when walking and my arm position, crossing my leg, the arthritic hip affecting my back and many other things. The surgery has allowed me to tie my shoes, carry things that are heavy (I am progressing on this with exercises) , cross my legs, reach my feet, even just sitting down in my recliner at home by not having to straighten my right leg and basically fall back into my chair and so many more things be able to do that I have not been able to do for more than 3 years. I will say, I could not have made a better choice than Doctor Broome and San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists and his staff. If you are waiting for the surgery, or searching for the Right Doctor, Look no further as they are the Best in my opinion. I currently am in 1 month post op and improving daily.

I met with Dr. Jude for a neurosurgical consultation in October and had a very positive experience…read more I came to the appointment alone and was treated with respect, patience, and professionalism from start to finish. Dr. Jude carefully reviewed my MRI with me and took the time to explain what was going on in a way I could clearly understand. Being able to actually see the issue helped me feel informed and confident about the recommended treatment. I never felt rushed, pressured, or dismissed. What impressed me most is that Dr. Jude was highly recommended by my neurologist of over 10 years -- a physician I deeply trust -- who described him as conservative and thoughtful, someone who does not rush patients into surgery unless it is truly necessary. That was also my experience. Surgery was presented as a last resort, not a sales pitch. After additional evaluation by my family doctor confirmed significant neurological findings, it became clear that surgery is medically necessary, and I feel very comfortable moving forward with Dr. Jude as my surgeon. I am grateful to have found a neurosurgeon who combines expertise with compassion and clear communication. Based on my experience, I would absolutely recommend Dr. Jude.

The second time he saved my life -I previously had a neurosurgery done in Wisconsin by a Doctor Who went to prison for fraud and implanting counterfeit parts,-after my original neck surgery(by the prison /fraud doctor) I never got better and I suffered for nearly a decade with doctors just not even believing I had this kind of pain, but when I finally got to Dr. Jude about this, he immediately saw red flags and decided that the old parts needed to come out!! let me remind you this surgery was a federal Workmen's Comp.-he accepts Workmen's Comp. and worked diligently to help things run smooth. he found a broken plate larger than a fake fingernail -meaning failed fake surgical equipment -that I had in my neck for an excruciating decade! if he hadn't followed the science and trusted what I was saying I don't know that I'd be alive today! dr. Jude has absolutely brilliant bedside manner. He's not the kind of doctor that talks about the weather and gets wildly off topic. He's very serious about what's happening. He takes every word into consideration and he trusts the patient and follows the science. His surgical ability is absolutely amazing. Dr. Jude is known for taking on complex neurosurgeries that most neurosurgeons won't even touch! I can assure you if you're looking for a neurosurgeon, you will be in very good hands with Dr Jordan Jude ! He has separated from (NASA neurosurgical associates of San Antonio) he now works out of his own office and has a wonderful staff that always has a friendly voice on the other line! Whether you have a brain tumor, a neck issue or a lumbar issue -I trusted him ,he fixed me and gave me my quality of life back, so I hope this helps at least a few patients breathe a little lighter about going into their neurosurgery !

He was our second doctor to visit as the first doctor that saw her in the ER at Saint Luke's would not operate on my wife until the advil she had taken was out of her system. This turned out to be a blessing as that gave us time to research and find a doctor that specialized in brain tumors. After much research, we came across Dr. Bogaev and made an appointment to see him. The office folks were so nice to us and were able to work her in in a couple of weeks. In order to save time, they asked us to bring in MRI. Cat Scans, and notes from the other doctor for Dr. Bogaev to review. In our visit with Dr. Bogaev, he pulled up all the scans/x-rays and explained what was going on with her brain. He discussed all the options and made his recommendations to us. We liked how he was with us personally, his knowledge, his skills, and his sense of humor. We decided then that we wanted him to do the surgery. The day of the surgery, he came in and visited with us and let us ask all the questions we needed to. He brought in the other doctors and nurses that would be with him, and we got a real good feeling about all of them. He said the surgery would take a minimum of 2-3 hours, and that after it was over, he would meet with me to discuss everything. After the surgery, he came and found me in the waiting area. He was very happy with how everything went and made me feel a whole lot better. About the hospital: Stone Oak Methodist, as ranked by Healthgrades, is one of America's 100 Best Hospitals in critical care for multiple years. For us, everything about them was top notch! Our follow-up appointment is next week. At that point he will advise us of our next steps. I can say, up until today, we are very happy. The wife has no problems with speech, movement, expressing her thoughts, etc. Would I use him again? I hope I never have to use them, but I would without any hesitation if I needed that type of surgery.
