The refried beans - I know it's silly to review beans, but these were a bit different than the normal ones we find in SA. They had a bit more texture, unlike the overly blended beans we're used to. Chef's Kiss goes out to these beans! The potatoes - we weren't sure what the seasoning was, but we think it was adobo. Whatever the seasoning is, it puts them over the top as far as breakfast potatoes are concerned. Good stuff! Just a couple of notes: We didn't get tortillas with our breakfast. It might have been an oversight, or our meals didn't come with them. Not sure. The service was great, but depending on the server you get, you might need to know some Spanish. We were seated in the other building near the windows. The menu wasn't huge, but just right with a few lunch and brunch items. Our server was able to water mine down slightly- since it was very sweet, but love knowing that it was freshly made. Complimentary chips and salsa always a plus, and we were able to order some spicy salsa to accompany at no charge. My shrimp plate was delicious! 2 skewers of nicely cooked and seasoned shrimp atop salsa with perfectly cooked cilantro rice and a fresh leaf salad. A half slices avocado accompanied my plate. Oh how I love avocados. I thoroughly enjoyed my plate. The chicken al carbon was also a good choice - half a chicken that was juicy, not dry. Inside and out, Hugman's Oasis (named to honor the godfather of the Riverwalk) is a true tiki bar. Signage, furniture, lighting, music, interior finishes, fantastic decor, and (of course) drinks are well-done. If they had stayed open later, we would have tried all of the drinks, so there's another visit to come soon. Our bartender knew requested off-menu classics, which was impressive. We will not hesitate to seek refuge from the downtown streets in this oasis again any time.
