ever since COVID the bread is like expire in 2-3 days. always mold if not putting in fridge. Many times i had to throw out 1.2 of the bag. Today same thing, I am at a point to write this complaint and NEVER buy nothing from TJ again. During these years I saw TJ go from honest merchant to gold digger. Sad. read more

This Trader Joes location is relatively smaller than many I have been to. It seems to have fewer selection, less dry goods, and not as many floor employees to assist guests. But, it is located in downtown Danville so it is very convenient for those in the area. Store itself: Cluttered, messy, and products on the floor. Ive never seen a Trader Joes is this condition. Salads on the floor, the freezer goods are all disorganized with random foods items everywhere, and employees running all over the place in the front of the store. Items: Seems to be a condensed version store of the store. Many items that I enjoy in the San Ramon store are not available or out...still seems to have a decent produce and alcohol selection. Overall: Been here a couple of times, but prefer the store in San Ramon due to great service, wide selection of goods, and a clean and tidy store. read more

Do better, Trader Joe's. You are a local establishment and the expectation for our patrons is to be able to peacefully enter your establishment and exit without being verbally accosted by solicitors. You have a no soliciting sign, and yet refused to enforce it today and in the past. When two perceived paid agitators are standing out front, not simply greeting folks and asking or if they can talk to you, but aggressively approaching, and asserting that if you don't speak with them, it is because you will not speak with Black people. Clearly trying to instigate a confrontation, these individuals needed to be addressed. Three people approached store employees and a shrug of the shoulders, and a well they always come back, is not enough. I timed when to leave the store to avoid another confrontation. It was very uncomfortable, felt isolating, and if you read the customers in the store, you can see the annoyance and agitation Created by the two individuals trespassing at your store. Why did it take customers to call the local police to come by and ask them to leave? When I left they had not yet arrived and it had been at least 15 minutes. Do better. You should be the ones calling and you should at least try to have conversation with the customer base to alleviate the unnecessary stress that a few individuals can create. These two were only approaching females and high school males on their lunch break. Do better. read more

I have always enjoyed shopping at TJ in Danville not because I'm biased because I live here but because of the consistency on their great customer service whether is a normal day or during a pandemic. Even though I had to stand in line for a few minutes on an early Sunday morning, and at least 6 feet a part from others, I felt comfortable and safe shopping even during this most uncertain time. They're also limiting the number of people who can go in the store to allow for social distancing while shopping. Before you go in, someone will have hand sanitizer for you and the wipes for the carts are well stocked. I was able to get everything I needed for the two week grocery run. It was well stocked and employees are always willing to help. As for toilet paper, they had them but you can choose between a pack of toilet paper or paper towels but not both. I feel that's fair. They also announce if there's anyone standing in line who is over 60 years old that they don't have to stand in line. TJs is also using their own brown bags and aren't charging so you don't need to bring any of the cloth ones or other recyclable bags you may have gotten used to bringing (for now). Cashiers are wearing gloves and before you exit the store, another employee will gladly spray your hands with sanitizer and wish you a good day. Thanks TJs for making it a pleasant experience. Loved my recent trip here. Staff is really friendly and is always willing to help you find something! I came to grab some gluten free, soy free, dairy free snacks and couldn't find one of the items I was looking for. So happy with my interaction with one of the older employees. So sweet and knew exactly where the new chocolate covered rice cakes were. I tried the salt water taffy and it was so delicious! The flavors are amazing and the ingredients are even better. Overall came out with three really good snacks for $10. Not bad for good quality stuff. read more

Been shopping here forever... I've tried other local TJs, will always come back here, even with the terrible parking lot (I think this is a common affliction with ALL TJs!). My only complaint about TJs is their practice of suddenly discontinuing items, with no advance notice. If they'd let you know, at least you could stock up. This is absolutely my favorite store!!! The staff is so kind and so helpful. They offer samples of different food items while you're shopping, who doesn't love samples?! They have great easy meals that are great for quick week night dinners. The have an excellent wine selection! All of the meat & vegetables are very fresh. The prices are AMAZING! I am a nursing student and come here all the time because it is so affordable and the products are great quality. I always spend too much money, I can never go in for one thing! The store is constantly being restocked with new items every week. They have an amazing candle selection and great holiday gift sets. The cosmetic/ skin section is one of my favorite. All of their facial products and body products are very pure and don't cause any irritation to your skin. The ambiance is so welcoming and the store is so colorful it's such a great place to shop. If you are looking for, yet, another great Trader Joe's -- here ya go. Well-stocked inventory, and cashiers all open at each station makes great shopping! It's a busy store, and along with that, an ultra busy parking lot. Beware of lots of cars backing out, coming in, carts flying, and people walking while talking. Once you finally park and come in, you'll have that "I've won" feeling. That is, if you live to tell about it. Service is particularly a stand-out. There's always several people restocking the shelves, and thus, always available to help find something or answer questions. I came here on a weeknight with my sister to do some grocery shopping. Fortunately on weeknights the lines are not long at all, so we only had to wait about two minutes outside before we were let in. I will add that I was impressed to see the quick check out lane for 15 items or less (I've never seen one in any other Trade Joe's, even out of state!). I held off reviewing this specific store for a few years. I had a very bad experience last year and continued to give them the benefit of the doubt. I usually go to the Pleasanton store since they are much friendlier there. The employees are more genuine and more helpful than here. Honestly, they are very condescending at this location. Yes, I said it. I really do not understand why a few employees do that here. I know that Rita is the manager here and she's been okay for the most part. However, I do not know why the employees here are rude and not friendly at all. I am not exaggerating. I think what was the final straw to write a negative review was that I brought a large heavy duty plastic bag to shop and the cashier stuffed everything in it (nearly 20 items at check out). My groceries started toppling out as he pushed the cart towards me and when I barely lifted my bag, the handles broke. Little did I know that the eggs were in the middle of the bag and a couple of it cracked (noticed when I got home and unloading the groceries and it leaked). Please treat all of your customers no matter what their nationality is (yes, do I need to be more specific or was that too subtle?...especially your loyal customers) with respect and be friendly to all of them. If not, please open a store in San Ramon so I do not have to ever set foot in your Danville store again. Yes, it's really that bad. read more

I shop four grocery stores.....Costco, Trader Joe's, Sprouts and Whole Foods in that order and it works for me for the past two decades. I've been coming to this location for 15 plus years....always good service (a few bad employees but they never last)... Very clean, remodeled three years ago....wine department needs help on quality and how it's presented on the floor but still serviceable. Love their salmon, pesto noodles, fresh pineapples, prepared salads, pizzas, flowers, greeting cards, kriegel and quiche lorraine just to name a few! Staff is friendly. I love hearing their staff favorites! We rely on TJ's to keep our favorites in stock but keep it interesting by rotating in new, surprising, seasonal products. Even if you don't regularly go to TJ's you should around the holidays. They have an interesting selection of holiday cookies and candies that make for perfect stocking stuffers: "weinbrandbohnen" brandy filled chocolates for your alcoholic friends or "fruit fancies" for the inlaws. Very helpful workers. They basically hold your and and give you a tour if you need extra help like I do. TJ's is a place you could come to every day without dreading it like a trip to Costco. We have been shopping at This Trader Joe's for years and to date has been overwhelmingly positive. The person that greets people is an absolute joy. Super attitude especially during the pandemic. Today my wife had a really bad experience. She asked for help finding something and the older gentleman could not understand her and a younger woman came by and answered the question. He said it is hard to hear with mask on and my wife said even harder with 2 masks on (which she was wearing). As soon as my wife turned her back they were laughing commenting about her accent and wearing two masks. Needless to say this was offensive on many levels. We love Trader Joe's but we will be going to San Ramon going forward because it is hard to ever feel comfortable going there again. read more

I've always been a huge fan of Trader Joe's pre and current pandemic. The staff are probably the most welcoming, kind, and friendly people I've ever met. It really warms my heart with how they're always SO nice. Literally- every single time I go here, they go above and beyond for their customers to put a smile on their faces and I am very grateful for their hard work, positivity and kindness. They've been handling the SIP very well. They have marks on the outside so you stay 6 ft away from people while you wait to enter into the store. They only allow a certain amount of people in. They hand sanitizer your hands while entering and exiting the store. The store is always fully stocked. They have plenty of food and I always leave there with tons of food. Their produce tends to expire fast though and I wish there was some sort of flow/organization when it comes to where they put the food. Sometimes it takes me forever to find things. But these are very small complaints and they don't even bother me as I love Trader Joe's so so so much. The food they offer are always amazing- I love all their food. It's always delicious & I always find new items I want to try!! Bottom line, Trader Joe's has always been a number one favorite of mine. Their staff are phenomenal at the Danville location. The food is always delicious and they have such a nice variety of things to get! Basically a 5+ stars in my book!!! We've always liked Trader Joe's from the our very first visit after moving to California from Oregon back in 1966. We really like most of their products and the prices are always very reasonable and of high to good quality. And the staff at all the stores have always be been helpful, friendly and highly knowledgeable about their products. Today, I stopped in to get a few things and put my reusable TJ's bag in the shopping cart and entered the store. Inside, I ran into an old friend and we chatted for a few minutes. After finishing (about 5 minutes), I went back to my shopping cart and noticed that my TJ's bag was gone. Bummers, I thought, someone had the nerve to steal my bag from my shopping cart but left the cart! How weird. I finished shopping and told my story to the cashier and gave me a paper bag without charging me the normal 10 cents charge. I went to the service desk and asked them if anyone had turned in my 'lost' bag. Nope, no luck there. I left the store and did a couple of other errands in the immediate neighborhood and went back to check, again, on the off chance that somene had turned it in. Again, the answer was still "NO." So, I gave up all hope and went to the rack with new bags at a cost of $3.99. I took the bag and got in line to pay for it and the manager that I had been talking to about my 'lost' bag saw me in line and left the Service Counter and came over and took the tag off the bag told me the new bag was "on the house." What a nice guesture! I was appreciative of their generosity and their desire to 'make things right!' This is a very good example of why we like Trader Joe's so much! Thank you, Danvile TJ! Trader Joe's is one of my favorite places to go for quality produce and well...quality anything. I am able to find tasty organic products for a fraction of the price that I would pay at those other stores. I stopped in to just pickup some cheese today and I left with a whole cart full of groceries because I found so many great buys! The staff here is so friendly and they are always happy to answer any questions you may have. Even though it was super busy as it was the day before Easter there weren't long lines at the checkouts. They were keeping at the registers fully staffed to get customers out quickly. Yay!! I had a lovely trip into Trader Joe's today and I look forward to my next trip to find more of the delicious items that await me inside!
