This is our go-to bakery, other than Portos, when getting something sweet for a party. The cakes here are delicious. Finding a place that sells Chinese cakes is kind of hard and if you've never had one, you'll see that they are much less sweet than traditional cakes you would find at supermarkets, such as Vons or Albertsons. They are still sweet, but just much more palatable. It might be because their frosting isn't traditional cake frosting, but more of a whipped cream frosting. Anyway, they have really good cakes at a very reasonable price. The only downside is that it's in a somewhat sketchy area. If you're looking for a Chinese cake or just want to try one, this is a great place to go. read more

When it was time to pick it up at the agreed time, the cake was ready. That's service! Unfortunately, there was a bit of a mishap that went something like this... "Yes, that's my name on the order. I ordered the cake." ***Waits a few minutes*** "Uh... That's my name on the cake. I'm not getting a cake for my own birthday. Can you remove it? ***sigh*** " LOL! At least they were willing to fix it and replace the name on the cake! So after a few minutes of additional waiting, the correct name was on the cake and it looked great! The cake is a very light and fluffy sponge type cake. The cake is sweet but not overwhelmingly sweet nor heavy in the slightest. The strawberries inside the cake were very tasty and the frosting on the outside of the cake was a light creamy sweetened texture. The thin almond flakes on the cake's sides added a nice savory balance to the sugar in the cake. These are excellent cakes! And reasonably priced too! 7" round cakes are $16.50, 8" round cakes are $21.50 and 10" round cakes are $29. We'll definitely be ordering another cake here and hopefully the name will be correct next time! read more

I love this bakery! I wish it was closer to my house. We were asked last minute to bring a large cake that fed about 30 people to Thanksgiving dinner so I scrambled to find an affordable bakery who could make that happen in less than a week. I remembered Dragon Bakery from a few years ago and decided to give them a call. Luckily, they were open on Thanksgiving day from 8-10 am and took our order. The lady I spoke to was helpful and courteous and the order placing was hassle free. We picked up the cake yesterday and it was delicious. $46 for a 12 by 12 square cake and we had leftovers. Don't waste your money. Been coming here for years, 1990's. Used to get a cake for $7 loaded with strawberries. Watched the prices rise but was always worth it. Just bought a cake few days ago and boy, what a disappointment. $28 for a sponge cake with a few slivers, yes, like 6 slivers in a super large piece that I ate. $28 for a boring piece of sponge cake. Maybe the original owners sold out or the kids took over. Either way, no way is it the same. This place is a neighborhood G E M. For my 5th birthday, my mother picked up a cake from this little bakery and til this day, I still love. It is the ultimate classic strawberry white cake with super whipped whip cream, so yummy with almond slices around each cake. I am so happy to see the younger generation is slowly making updated changes to their menu and am hoping their business continues to thrive. Due to the 5 stars and great reviews, I figured I give this place a try. Owner was nice and the bakery itself was small and had a few cakes display for you to buy. From small cakes for $16.50 or a large square cakes $40. You can also order ahead to have them design but since it was last minute, I just picked up a small one to try. I must say, the cake is super moist! Fluffy inside and not sweet at all which is perfect for anyone who doesn't like sweet. I remember back in the 80's my uncle would always buy these delicious vanilla sponge cakes filled with fresh strawberries and topped with whipped cream frosting for our birthdays. Flash forward to 2016. The other day, I was planning my mother-in-law's birthday lunch and wanted to order a cake for her. Being that we don't live near any Porto's locations and that cake prices these days are ridiculously high, I wondered where I would go to get a cake for her. Then I remembered that strawberry cake I was so fond of as a child and tried to recall the name of the bakery, wondering if it still existed after all these years. Dragon something, I thought... Red Dragon? So i immediately went on Yelp to see if this place was still open and what do you know? It is!!! I called the bakery to inquire about pricing on cakes. They quoted me $29 for a 10 inch round cake and $30 for a quarter sheet. All cakes are filled with either strawberry, pineapple or mango. I went ahead and ordered a quarter sheet size cake filled with fresh strawberries and cream. For no additional charge, they added sliced almonds on the side of the cake. The cake was ready for me the very next day and looked tall and beautiful. It was was exactly how I remembered them looking during my childhood. Taste wise, the cake was perfect! The cake itself is not overly sweet, just right. It was moist, fluffy, spongy. The strawberries were very fresh, too! They did such a great job with my mother-in-law's birthday cake. I was very pleased. Everyone loved it. I highly recommend this bakery as they not only provide great tasting cakes, but their prices are incredible, especially when you compare them to other bakeries. Strawberry shortcake similar to Phoenix Bakery cake in Chinatown was very good. I ordered it 2 days in advance, stood in line outside in the heat and sun due to Covid to pick up for 25 mins just to find out they did not have the birthday cake for a party starting in 2.5 hours. They never admitted it was their fault for the mistake even after showing them proof on my phone. To their credit they started baking one up ASAP and had me return 2.5 hrs later to pick up. It would have been nice for them to own up to their mistake and even offer some sort of discount as I had to drive an extra 25 mi back and forth and the time involved In any case, it was a very good cake. Well, that was good! I hadn't realized there was a Dragon Bakery near Rowland Heights. I used to pick up those delicious cookies and cakes in Chinatown.
