9/6/26 I stopped by here for a few treats as I waited to get into chubby mart. The place was well stocked, with a variety of breads and other treats. I loved the mini moon cake options they had. My dilemma with moon cake is, it's too much for one person to eat. The mini size was perfect and it tasted pretty good. I used to spend a lot of money for Kee Wah moon cakes but always gave them away. This is a nice replacement if I happen to be in the area. I purchased a couple of cookie packs, some Taiwanese triangle sandwiches, a sponge cake, a boro bun and a few different moon cakes. The checkout process was a bit slow. Due to them leaving the bags unsealed when you pick them up, the lady had to sealed each one before she rang me up. It took a bit and I was always late for my chubby mart reservation. JJ's is a gem among chain Asian bakeries. The employees are kind and quick to help you. With the exception of some cased cakes, most items are self-service and pay at the counter, which makes checking out pretty quick. They tag team scanning and bagging too, so they're definitely efficient. There are some indoor tables to sit at, but most customers take their items to go. Plenty of parking in a private lot. Mild noise level. They have a plethora of sweet and savory pastries, cakes, cookies, and even some sandwiches - something for everyone. There are individual items as well as multi-packs and fancy boxed packs. Everything I've tried, including their seasonal mooncakes, is delicious. Prices are fair. At the time, I was told it was available, but when it came time to place the order, they said they no longer offered it, even though it was still listed on the ordering sheet. We ended up ordering the tiramisu cake instead, and it turned out to be a great choice. Although it wasn't the flavor we originally wanted, everyone really enjoyed it. They also did a beautiful job decorating the top with an assortment of fresh fruit, which made it look perfect for the celebration. Overall, I was really happy with how everything turned out. This JJ Bakery is located in the same plaza as iTaiwan and Cluck2Go. My husband and I decided to stop by since I was in the area, two Saturdays ago. We arrived around 2:15 pm and there was already a short line by the register. After briefly looking around, we ended up choosing: Peanut Bun, $2.05- I really liked this bun, it was filled with plenty of chopped peanuts. But I did not like finding baking paper that was forgotten to be pulled off on a few bites and having to spit out that paper. Sesame Bun, $2.05- Luckily the black sesame bun did not have any baking paper when I ate this bun a few days after purchasing. But I did like this bun, as there was plenty of black sesame paste that was the perfect sweetness (of not being too sweet). Matcha Almond Croissant, $3- My husband had this the next day and enjoyed it. --------------------------- (Total= $7.10) Service was friendly. The 2 employees who helped us spoke both English and Mandarin. And what was nice was that they bagged our 3 items in a plastic bag and handed it to us after paying for it (I paid credit card and did not see a credit card minimum sign). The only reason why I bring this is up is because Sunmerry and 85C Bakery both charge $10 for a plastic bag so it was nice to see that this JJ bakery just gave us a bag for free (or that it is already built in the cost of their baked goods). Inside this bakery are a few tables and chairs, which is nice if you want to sit and chat with a friend/ family member and enjoy your purchase here. We ended up taking our items back home. At first glance you may think this is just another 85° type bakery, but its not. They do have similar things but the pastries are huge! I got a custard bun that was enormous! And some baked cheese bread which ive never seen before. My friend loaded up on the garlic bread and something with hot dogs i think too. The guys behind the counter were very nice. They have some beautiful cake assortments and drinks too. Even pork floss by the jar, which was so cool! It's a good sized space but i wouldnt call it a hang out spot. I wanted something sweet and something to eat . So they have a take out with all the bake goods, bread and pre made drinks in the fridge side. Then they have a sit down dine in areas. They also have a shelf with pre boxed food such as chicken and rice box, a fridge with soup to go. Service is basic. You pay and go. Ambiance is regular shop food to buy and go, nothing spectacular. The red bean mochi bread was really good--the mochi added a nice chewy texture and the red bean filling was just right. The plain toast was simple but tasty as well. We stopped by today after getting our delicious drinks from dumbstruck, and we were really happy we did! We tried the croissant dog, the German custard, and the cheesecake stick. The croissant dog was solid, but could use more flavor. The German custard was delicious. And the star of the show definitely had to be the CHEESE STICK! I will definitely note that if you use a mobility device that requires atleast 30 inches of width, it might be hard to get through. The aisle/s were extremely tight, making it hard (as a wheelchair user), to fit through. I would definitely recommend that they try to make these wider to be accessible to every person. The service was nice and fast. Straightforward and easy. It is divided into a grab and go bakery (similar to Paris baguette), and a sit-down restaurant. Very different than your "regular" bakery. There is a lot of seating and you do have to wait to be seated. I would describe the ambiance to be slightly fast paced, but very traditional. We will definitely be back. JJ Bakery has always been on the top of my list for Taiwanese bakeries in California. They started in Hacienda Heights and grown to several locations all over Southern California. Their flagship store just a few minutes away has Taiwanese breakfast that's fantastic. Today, I was just grabbing pastries so I went to the Rowland Heights location. I always get my usual Curry Beef Pie and Chicken Pie which they have at all their locations and after seeing a few tiktoks recommending the Mango and Strawberry Mochi, I had to grab those as well. Can confirm that those are delicious! Fluffy whipped cream, cake and mango or strawberry wrapped in a thin layer of chewy mochi. It's a must try! I was also excited to see they had Red Bean Salted Egg Yolk Pastries (Dan Huang Su) which are traditionally sold during lunar new year. read more

We came here to buy cake and got the vanilla chiffon strawberry cake. It came with a TON for fruit on the top and strawberries in the Cream inside. The cake was not dense, it was a nice and light, the cream was light, and the cake overall wasn't too sweet, which was perfect for the family (kids and grandparents included). They also wrote happy birthday on top of the cake for us. The box also came w a cake cutter, a happy birthday plastic sign, and candles. We also got a pack of the Korean sesame Mochi breads and it was a hit with everyone. They don't serve drinks here but there's enough cafes around the area so this wasn't a deal breaker for us . The inside has a couple of tables and chairs but it's not somewhere I'd go on a coffee date. Just a good place to buy your baked goods! Easy free parking in the lot. read more

I'm glad I got to visit a JJ bakery on my trip to Rowland heights. The JJ bakery in Irvine is not comprehensive as this one which provides desserts and a dining section for meals. The bakery section included the same items as any other JJ bakery so I'll go straight to the meals they serve. On the table near the front entrance, there were a variety of pre-made meals that were priced very well. We ended up picking up a sticky rice bento box with some pork strips and a flavored egg $10. We also grabbed this pork chop box that included 2 side dishes for only $10.75! Huge steal! Especially when we just picked up a pork chop rice from Monja Taiker from next door and it was $5 more and 5lbs lighter. The flavor of the porkchop wasn't the tastiest but I would do this again just for the great pricing. The sticky rice was really tasty! read more

Wow! First time trying out JJ bakery and loved everything we tried. Cake was light and spongy. Filling layers were layered with precise ratios to cake. Visually these are beautiful but also tastes spectacular! It's the worst thing when they look so good but doesn't taste great. You don't have to worry about that here. Pastries here are hit or miss. Most of the time the new pastries I've tried are very dry. The cakes aren't very good. Wow, it's been almost 2 years since my last review. Time for an update... there was no other customer in the shop at the time of my entry, however, they all seem to swarm in afterwards... ten million of them... okay, maybe only 5 people. It never fails LOL. I just seem to attract people. Staff was awaiting to assist as needed. Shop was clean and organized. Cakes and pastries were ready to be purchased. Anyway, I came here to buy some sponge cake that my sister-in-law had recommended in the past. It's called the Hokkaido Chiffon. It comes with 6 in a box. So I got 2 boxes to make it an even dozen. So very good... spongy soft cake with light cream in the middle and powdered sugar on top. YUMMY! I like to bring a little something whenever I visit my friends house. I don't like to visit empty handed. She was gracious to hold a hotppt gathering for my milestone b-day. Thank you my dear friend! Delicious and reasonably priced bakery. My wife and I tried a few baked goods here and loved them all. From the almond croissant, to a red bun roll and another with a cream filling, we thought all had really good flavor. Everything here seemed fresh and had a good balance between filling and bread. I love JJ's Bakery. The people are always very nice. I typically visit this store and the Halliburton store. I love the cream cakes they make the best gift when you going to visit someone or for an office meeting. They have a variety of yummy breads with and without nuts. Came here first thing in the morning to get a birthday cake. They had lots to choose from even though I didn't pre-order. I haven't had their cakes in long time, but it was as good as I remembered. Ended up getting a chocolate cake with chocolate filling. I added the whisky bottles on top of the cake. They provide candles, cutting knife and a happy birthday sign. The woman at the store was really helpful in helping me choose a cake. She made sure to tell me the one I chose didn't have any fruit fillings and asked if I was ok with it. 06/16/2025 bought to-go of 1 box cold seaweed and one daily lunch box. I ate some seawood at 1st of 06/16, the taste is Okay I did not feel any strange. The next day I continued to eat some more, tasted sticky but did not feel obivious strange.The 3rd day I picked one piece from the bottom of box and the taste turned sour. It is abnormal the food of seawood become spoiled in 3 days as it always keep in refrigerator.
