Food was okay. Don't expect the 40 item buffet you find in the bigger city's. It's a whole in the wall kinda place, 10-12 items max. Items listed in hand written paper on the corner of the sneeze guard so it was kind of confusing. Ice cream is in a freezer in tubs that you gotta scoop out as if you're at home. Not impressed, very dim lighting (makes me think what else are they hiding besides dirty carpeting) Service: I thought the elderly lady was a bit rude roughly brining us drinks and roughly taking our plates away, not sure if she doesn't like her job or is it part of the culture. Another posting mentioned staff talking to each other as if in an argument, I experienced the same but again possible that is part of their language. I would not go again considering the lighting situation I'm curious to see what it's like during the day for lunch but I doubt it'll be any better as it's the only Chinese place in town, literally. We were just passing through Fort Stockton and really enjoyed this place. We came about 8:30pm and it was mostly empty but the staff were so kind and attentive at keeping the buffet full for us. We had no idea we could find good Chinese food in West Texas! We stop in Fort Stockton several times a year and had not tried Dragon Buffet. They do a brisk business and are constantly replenishing the dishes. I tried a few bites of several dishes and they were all really good! We tried ginger chicken. chicken w/broccoli, beef w/broccoli, sweet & sout chicken. There was a spicy chicken that my husband liked. There was chicken on a stick as well as chicken drums. There was a seafood dish that was quite tasty. They have white rice & fried rice. There was hot & sour soup and egg flower soup. A separate desert bar and an ice cream bar! Terrible customer service. The lady at the register is EXTREMELY pushy about paying with cash. When you don't have cash they start talking about you in their language. I don't even need a translation because her face and body language told me everything I'd need to know. She said there was a minimum, yet nothing was posted anywhere. The only thing visibly posted was a 3.5% fee for card use. If you're already charging a fee why do you feel the need to harp about cash to a customer who doesn't have cash? The small selection of food is mediocre at best. But what do you expect in the middle of nowhere. You're better off going to a fast food chain. read more

We were surprised to find a buffet in the city (I'm a sucker for buffets). We decided to try it out and were surprised upon arrival to find they had a FAST FOOD WINDOW. That's rare for me to see (I'm from California). We came in, were greeted nicely and went to check out the options. There were a few options they had, however (This dropped it one star on my end). Usually you would expect for their to be Tables of trays but on this occasion. They're was one full of the main courses (Wontong, Rice and Chowmein, and other types of chicken/beef/sea food) there was another that contained fruit. Icecream was definitely a plus. I never leave reviews to places, but this place had such excellent service and such delicious food It would have been a crime not to leave one. As I walked in the door I was immediately welcomed in and seated accordingly. The tables have a disposable wrap on them that gets replaced every cleaning, good for cleanliness during COVID if anyone cares about that. While eating the server was quick to get us refills on our drinks throughout the entire experience. The food was perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection especially for being a buffet establishment. I've never been more satisfied at a Chinese buffet let alone a Chinese cuisine establishment. In conclusion, definitely worth bringing your party here, would recommend to anyone. read more

Open seven days a week, except Mondays. This one of those stupid places that eventually go out of business and blame all their woes on the economy. While spending a few days in Fort Stockton, I tried on two consecutive occasions to eat here, and was unsuccessful both times. Is the food great? Transcendental, even? Or, is it terrible, possibly containing bits of glass and clumps of hair? I wouldn't know. The first time I was turned away by a locked door at noon (on Monday), and the second time by a cranky server at 3pm telling me they were closed until 5pm. On the plus side, the parking lot was empty. Is it fair to rate a place I have never eaten at one star? Yes. Service matters, and places that are closed at odd hours or days of the week are being operated solely for the convenience of their owners, not their customers. read more

The food is minimal at best for a buffet establishment. I got 2 containers of take-out and was charged $35. That was outrageous so I asked to see the scale so I could see what the actual weight was and was told "NO" in very harsh words. Then the cashier started yelling to the cooks in the kitchen which was very embarrassing so I told her to keep it after which she yelled to the cooks again. I'm pretty sure they put the food back out on the buffet. I think that Fort Stockton isn't the best place for a buffet that offers very slim, few choices. This restaurant would do better in a much bigger city so they can afford to put out better and more choices because more crowds means more profit that can be invested back into the business, hopefully towards the buffet first, just sayin." I went to the Mexican restaurant just down the street and paid $15 for 2 very good dinners from the menu and I'm glad I did. The staff were delightful and the food was great and we still had some cash for our next meal. As a tourist coming here I have to warn you that there's not much to offer in dining options so choose carefully. And there's nothing if you're heading to Big Bend so pack your own. read more

This small town serves huge numbers of oil field workers that live in the area for short periods at a time. The reviews were solid for the service and freshness of the food we though we would try it. The outside almost makes you want to drive away, but almost all the businesses here are that way. The door was open so we tried it. Seated right away, drinks within a minute or two and the buffet offerings were fresh as others had stated. It was good, hot and fresh. Nothing great. Could have been anything yikes lol. Rice was good. Dragon almond cookies were good. Very run down on the instead. The leather booth seats are all old and torn up. Customer service is good. They keep fresh food on the line. But let me tell you want I'm from Houston Texas and the most you pay for Chinese buffet is 9 or 10. Here it's 12 and they charge you 2 bucks for can soda. As other reviewers said, the food really IS surprisingly good, unexpected due to being one of the only unique eateries in a town offering mostly fast-food chain restaurant fare. Lots of tasty choices at the buffet, and fresh salad and fruit choices at the dessert table. You can also order from a very nice-looking menu, if buffets aren't your thing. This place can not earn not even a star! I was driving in from California and not very many choices in the area. My husband and I paid for food that was not worth what we paid first of all. Second it is very filthy!! I just couldn't eat in peace thinking of how dirty the kitchen is. The lady vacuumed while we were eating. The restroom needs not only to be cleaned but my husband says that there's a tag on the wall that says "F...k Mexicans" which It offended me. I'm not from Mexico but things like that should be removed immediately. I will go hungry next time if I am in the area. I do NOT recommend this to anyone. We let the desk clerk be the decision maker for us between Dragon Buffet and Sagebrush Cafe since both had good and bad reviews. Dragon was walking distance and we were road weary. We were greeted with a yawn from the "hostess" who threw down our silverware and said a perfunctory hello. I noticed that Fox was on the TV and when I suggested anything but, she pretended she didn't understand my Yankee accent and buried her nose in her phone. Got my food but when I started to eat it it was so lukewarm and overcooked I got up and asked what the buffet cost per person since I saw no sign or menu. She sullenly said: "$12.00" Me: "If we are going to spend $24 for this I am not going to be subjected to Fox." She pointed to the remote which was really dirty and I changed it to ABC news. (At least David Muir is as good looking as he is articulate and accurate.) To "top" it off the "white" ceiling was filthy as was the carpeting on the floor. There are gallons of ice cream in a dirty freezer they let any customer reach in and scoop it for himself. Eeeeuw. Only one other man was eating when we arrived about 5:45but the place became busy with a few people filling styrofoam boxes with food for takeout and several men who appeared to be regulars. I would suspect it would fail a health department inspection but then where would those poor men eat? read more

If you come for friendly personality I would go somewhere else. Service is efficient but not friendly. Food however is excellent, hot and fresh regardless of what is selected. I would say food here is better than most buffet places in bigger cities like Dallas and Houston. It is all about the food.
