Delicious. Great food. Good service. Friendly, generous portions. Take a break from West Texas sun, have an ice tea and dig into some homemade goodness.

You won't be disappointed!!! Perfect portion size with a perfect price. I broke down nearby on a road trip and ate everything on the menu!!! Great AC and really friendly family owned.

We came to this place to celebrate anniversary, and never again anything we ordered they were out of stock. The prices change, not worth it.

Wanted to be pleasantly surprised but we weren't. We left wishing we would have stopped at Pizza Hut instead.

This place is not a steakhouse. Very small salad bar and my mans catfish was raw when served. Will never be back.

The portion was smaller than I expected, but the flavor didn't disappoint. The pork was tender, and the green chile sauce had a deep, rich taste that reflected hours of slow cooking. It carried more heat than my palate prefers, but spice lovers would likely appreciate it. The accompanying rice and beans were less impressive. The Spanish rice had a fairly standard flavor but was noticeably dry. The refried beans were also dry and seemed as though they had been sitting for quite some time before being served, which took away from an otherwise flavorful entrée. The restaurant itself was clean, colorful, and had a lively atmosphere that made it an inviting place to dine. Prices were about what I would expect for the meal we ordered--fair, though not a standout value. Overall, it was a pleasant stop with friendly service and a well-prepared Chile Verde, even if a few of the side dishes fell short.

But, in all fairness, I've eaten at no fewer than 200 different Tex-Mex restaurants in my lifetime. First, as one reviewer stated, this is very much a New Mexican-style restaurant, although they try to get there with the Tex-Mex. What does this mean? Quite simply, this place uses red sauce (vs. chili gravy) for enchiladas. It also offers stacked enchiladas with an egg placed on top, which is true New Mexican. Beyond that, the menu is quite varied. I'll start with my cheese enchiladas with red sauce. The sauce was spicy as hell, which was wonderful. The enchiladas themselves were a disappointment because they used two corn tortillas to roll them with the smallest pinch of cheese I've experienced in a while. -- I'm not sure about my dad's chile relleno and beef enchilada with green sauce, but he really enjoyed both. The rice and beans were pretty much par for the course. Not bad but nothing special. The salsa here is phenomenal. There's just enough onion and cilantro to make it memorable. It's served cold, which is a must for me, and it has some serious bite. Service here is really friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is old school: cheap paneling and trite "Mexican" decor. The men's bathroom is almost as dark as a movie theater. I don't get to this area often, but I would certainly eat here again any time I do.

i have never seen a more misrepresented restaurant in my life. when you post a website touting…read moreyour "fine dining restaurant", you have an obligation to live up to that in some form or fashion. a girlfriend and i were on a road trip to marfa - her last road trip before her baby is due in 5 months. we hoped to be in marfa by 8pm, but a shopping pit stop in fredericksburg put us a bit off schedule. by the time we hit ft. stockton it was getting dark and we were hungry. my husband called on his break from work and i mentioned we were near ft. stockton and asked if he could peruse the internet, looking for a decent place for us to eat. he instantly found this place and texted me the info. when we called for directions the first time, we were sent the wrong way, but i understood because 285 in ft stockton does something similar to 290 in austin. we called again. we spoke to someone else (who we later found out was our wait-person), she was very patient and friendly. she was also very helpful with her directions. she figured out where we were and got us there with ease (after we'd driven around in circles and down a scary desolate road by following the directions of the first lady we spoke with). we would have been better off eating at the ihop across the highway. we would have saved money and i could have just eaten dry toast. instead i had dry lobster. when we finally found the country club property the restaurant was located on it was very dark and confusing. i'm sure our experience with country clubs tainted our view of this one. it just looked a bit dumpy. when we pulled up to the pointed-top building they had directed us to, my road trip partner thought we were in the wrong place. i thought it had to be it because it was the only pointed building we could see and it was on the street (which was a loop around the middle of the club) that is listed on the website. i think the men in shorts with their golf carts and the state of the building this fine dining restaurant resided in threw us off. we turned around and went the other way on the road and ended up on the other side of the building. we parked and got out. we walked toward the building thinking it looked more like someone's back porch than a restaurant. it was right around closing time and we saw no other diners, but since we had called twice they were pretty much waiting for us. we loved them for actually greeting us with smiles and warmth, but once we were seated inside we weren't so sure about the fine dining aspect. there was a giant wall-sized television with the volume cranked up. the room did not resemble the photographs on the website one bit. in retrospect, maybe those photos were taken at a catered event. there is no way they were taken in that bright room with the loud-ass telly. we're nice girls and we felt bad for keeping them so late. since they were super nice when we finally arrived, we felt like we should order something big and pricey. i ordered the lobster and my companion ordered the lobster and steak plate. the lobster was so chewy it was pretty much inedible, but we ate it anyway (except for a few pieces that we couldn't chew at all). the steak....was scary. my friend tried to eat it, but couldn't. the salads they brought us to start off the meal could have been poured out of a plastic bag, but at least they were edible (not tasty, but edible). i think the owner (or chef?) came over and chatted with us. she told us about an event they had on the property and how a man sent back his lobster. we could tell this pissed her off. she has a special combination of spices that she cooks the lobster in and she's very proud of it. apparently this man didn't like the spices and wanted a plain lobster. at least that is what she told us. i think maybe they just overcooked his lobster as they did ours and he sent it back. if we had been anywhere else, we would have sent our food back, and not because of her special spices. i'm surprised we didn't get ill. our digestive systems were fucked for at least a day though. this was a huge disappointment and felt like an episode of the twilight zone.
