This was our first time at any KBob's. As roadtrippers, we knew it would be better than most places, and few were open for late lunch in this part of the state. We were seated in the very uncomfortable wooden seats just behind the kid's wall, and the adorable chalk wall for young artists. The wagon salad bar was huge! I didn't find out if its access came with our meal, though, as the service was not very clear. I found out later it is extra. I ordered the hatch Chile cheese chicken fried steak, which was a very tender and generously topped steak. If you like hatch, you know the flavor is very mild. I think people who avoid spicy can enjoy this dish. The steak was huge, the sides were a bit small, but there was plenty leftover to take home. The service was okay. We might try to find more KBOB'S on our next road trip. This one was nice. read more

Friendly place, good food. Warm inviting family oriented. Went for an early dinner. Service was spotty even with plenty of staff. Sat in the bar area to watch a basketball game. Wifey had the pork chop with a baked potato. Chop was great - juicy and cooked perfectly. Potato left a lot to be desired. I had the chicken quesadilla with broccoli. Basically ended up being a chicken breast sliced in a taco skin with cheese. It was filling but not what I expected. Recommend trying with one comment. We started with fried pickles and potato skins. The fried pickles were perfection! The loaded potato skins were thick and perfectly cooked. Well covered in cheddar cheese and real bacon bits. Waitress brought us the Ranchero sauce to try with pickles and it is delicious with a nice kiss of heat. The ribeye was perfectly cooked! Super tender and a home run. Chicken fried steak was great and the white gravy is spot on perfection. Everyone enjoyed their food. Our server was fantastic and provided excellent service to us. K-Bob's is a staple in Ft. Stockton and I love the service and food scene out here. Anytime I'm in town I have to get their chicken fried steak or K-Bob's kabobs. Their dinner rolls and salad wagon are always a hit here. I love that their salad wagon looks like a chuck wagon and the selections are endless from traditional salad to potato salad, soups, beans and desserts. I've been celebrating my birthday every year here since I was 15 and they always make me feel special here. read more

Second time I've passed through Ft. Stockton and had a fine meal from K-Bob's. This time the family came with: hubs had The Classic (cream gravy) chicken fried steak with green beans, younger kid had cheeseburger, the older kid had chicken tenders - both with fries, and I had The Southwestern (green chile and queso) chicken fried chicken with broccoli. Hubs also had a salad from the salad bar. Oh, and the kids meals came with large scoop of Blue Bell Ice Cream. If you're in the mood for chicken fried steak/chicken and haven't had any in months, maybe years, this is the place. So good!! Hubs rated his a 10, kids both rated 4 out of 5, so I averaged it to 5 stars. Service was great! Ambiance - it was a little loud but the restaurant was packed. Take the food to go if you need a quiet space to unwind. I don't know why there were low ratings, for what's available in a small town, this is clearly where everyone goes! Can you give 0 stars? I was just served the worst restaurant meal I've been served in my life. As a fort Stockton native this is embarrassing. Maybe now I know why the place is empty. Honestly the worst meal I've ever been served and the staff and management didn't care. How dare K BOB'S post this response to my truthful review. I didn't eat the whole steak. I couldn't eat one bite as the steak was so overcooked and tough. One young employee insulted me when I asked for a manager. Neither the manager nor bartender tried to make anything "right". Food was great. Was brought the wrong drink. It was the server's fault. I already put my mouth on it by the time I realized. They ended up charging me for the drink I ordered plus the wrong drink/server's mistake. I asked for the $5 drink to be removed from the bill, they said no. Every single time in my life in the past the server lets you keep the drink if you want it (it's gonna be wasted after all) and they would never dare to put it on the bill and certainly not deny you if you ask for it to be removed. Whoever said this place was good, lied. The food that I ordered had potential to be good but the ball was dropped hard. The menu doesn't really have a lot to choose from for me but that's not necessarily a bad thing. What I had wanted ( a BLT) originally was only available for lunch hours which is a shame because my experience probably would had been better. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger that came with fries and chips and queso to start. The upside is that they do have a happy hour that starts at four but it's only beer and margaritas. Their margaritas are huge so I got a mango marg and a lemon drop. The drinks have to be the best thing that they have and it'll be a shame if they weren't based on how bad the food was. My queso came out and the cheese had curdled like it was sitting in a pot until I ordered it. The flavor was regular for queso not spicy at all but the texture took me out, the chips were fresh and crispy but I doubt they make them. Now for this burger...I probably would've been better off buying it from the gas station. The beef was thick and dry like a biscuit the bacon I could tell if it was crispy or old, like it looked cooked but I couldn't bite into it, it was way too hard. The fries looked good, but they seemed like it was left out and reheated. I could tell they were not fresh because they weren't hot but warm. If I stopped into this town again I would only come here for the drinks....maybe. Definitely order a drink if you plan on eating here. It'll make the food taste better. But more than likely I'll go elsewhere, there's a better burger place just down the street and I wouldn't have to get out my car. read more

We just drove in from San Diego and had an excellent steak dinner here and the service was exceptionally attentive (server was Alicia). As we had read other reviews about just being a so-so place, we had lowered our expectations, but were very pleasantly surprised at how good all the food was - from the Salad Wagon to the steaks to the baked potatoes. Just a tip - order the full Cowboy ribeye as the Rodeo ribeye is half the size (cut thinner) and grills to fast. If you want a perfect medium rare ribeye, the Cowboy cut is for you! read more

Served between two slices of dry toast. It came with mashed potatoes and corn. My chicken fried chicken came with a side of gravy and a side of green beens. What an adorable place. It has a bar, outdoor area and family dining area. We took our servers suggestion and started with the chips and queso. It was very tasty. For an entree, we shared the Ribeye steak (medium) that came with two sides. We choose the mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. And warm rolls on the side. The steak was like butter. Needless to say I was about to order my own. lol. The mashed potatoes were tasty. We got both the white and brown gravy. The brown gravy was tastier. The Mac and cheese was very good. We were sooo amazed that we found this great gem in a small town. Would definitely go again if passing by. PS. I have never seen a place sooooo clean. The servers were cleaning everything!! The seats, the walls, they moved the booths to clean against the wall!!! I loved it. Great job!! What I said after my first bite of my (Senior Citizen) grilled chicken breast: Wow! It was delightfully less salty than what I usually get at restaurants across the country. You could really taste that succulent chicken. My baked potato side was baked perfectly. It was so nice to have a healthy option while traveling. I didn't need a huge portion, but the price was low enough that it felt like a huge meal. The potato wasn't a small one either. My husband got the single trip salad bar and added a side of chicken breast. He could have gotten the salad as a Senior multiple trip option, but the plate was large enough that another trip would have been overkill. It was so nice to find a high quality salad bar with a wide variety (the type we used to have before the pandemic made them extinct). Our service was top notch. We felt welcome and valued. We were very excited to try the chicken fried steak here. It was ok.... The mashed potatoes were bland, but hot. The salad bar was excellent, but we added salad to our meals, as well as the fried okra. So with water and two chicken fried steaks, potatoes, salad, and okra, it was $61. The meat was just a bit thick and bland, a bit stringy. The gravy didn't seem homemade- tasted like a mix. Service was good. Ambience was nice. It was just too much $ for a fairly small steak that had no redeeming qualities. I expected much better. Sorry. This is the local place to eat and have a drink or two. It usually takes a minute or two to be seated. Whoever is the least busy at the moment will seat you. We rolled into Ft Stockton near sunset this past Monday, 6/5/2023, after driving all day. We were tired and hungry, the operative word here being hunnnnng,,,gry. We asked the hotel guy where we could get a good dinner and he recommended K-Bob's to us. So that's where we went. It was literally just a couple of feet down the street. We entered and the place seemed pretty busy but we were quickly seated on the "porch," handed some menus and left to look it over. Eventually our server showed up to take our drink order. We were pretty excited that we could get Topo Chico with lime. Except after that, she wandered off to take some more orders and do a bunch of other stuff before finally getting back to bringing the drinks to us. Tired, hunger, thirsty. Eventually she comes back to get our dinner order. I order the 10-oz rib eye, medium rare. She says they're out, how about the 16-oz? Now I'm thinking she just wants to upcharge me since I'm from out of town and tired, hungry, thirsty. Now I'm thinking why don't they just cut the 16-oz down to 10-oz or she could have said we're sorry that we're out of the 10-oz, how about the 16-oz for the price of the 10-oz. Now that would have been a great deal. The menu also stated that the steak would be slathered with butter when it was served so I had to get our server to understand I could not have butter and to please please make sure the kitchen didn't get any butter on or near the steak (or anything else for that matter). But I was tired, hungry, thirsty, so I said OK. Then I'm thinking I can take the leftovers back to the hotel and have it tomorrow while back on the road. Now I had to pick two sides. Most of the selections were potatoes, pasta, rice or full of cheese or dairy. Things I can't really eat anyway. But there was fried okra, which I love, so I asked for that. I also wanted some of the green beans but that was smothered in butter and couldn't be made without it because that's the way it's prepared so I couldn't eat that. So how about the broccoli casserole but that turned out to be loaded with cheese. Well, what about the steamed broccoli? OK, that was OK. Next, my wife ordered the brisket sandwich. But, we're told they were out of that. How is that possible? Our server offered some of the other brisket dishes that were sliced brisket but somehow the chopped type of brisket couldn't be made. That's where you take sliced brisket and chop it up. So wifey, by this time, also tired, hungry and thirsty, looks at the k-bobs and starts asking if the beef and chicken k-bobs are good. Guess what our server said. The plate came with one of each type of k-bob but what wifey really wanted was the sweet potato fries on the side. Now wifey want to know our server's name. It is Boo. Probably a nickname, And so a conversation ensues and we learn her entire life story. Pretty interesting for such a young lady. But, finally, she's off to the kitchen to put the order in. Wifey hears Boo giving the kitchen the what-for about butter on the steak and I am very grateful for that. Boo really was taking care of things for us. Eventually, and I do mean eventually, food comes out. My steak is cooked medium rare. I mean a real medium rare and was really good. And no butter anywhere. Wifey's k-bobs were good too. Very tasty. Wifey is very happy. Everything was the way we finally ordered it. Boo took care of everything and we were very happy with coming here for dinner that night. The leftovers were finished off the next day and still were very flavorful. So, all in all, a big success. If you're on the road and stopping in Ft Stockton for the night, feel free to stop here for dinner if you're in the mood for steaks and skewers. And ask for Boo.
