This was our first time at any KBob's. As roadtrippers, we knew it would be better than most places, and few were open for late lunch in this part of the state. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated in the very uncomfortable wooden seats just behind the kid's wall, and the adorable chalk wall for young artists.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The wagon salad bar was huge! I didn't find out if its access came with our meal, though, as the service was not very clear. I found out later it is extra. I ordered the hatch Chile cheese chicken fried steak, which was a very tender and generously topped steak. If you like hatch, you know the flavor is very mild. I think people who avoid spicy can enjoy this dish. The steak was huge, the sides were a bit small, but there was plenty leftover to take home. The service was okay. We might try to find more KBOB'S on our next road trip. This one was nice.

We started with fried pickles and potato skins. The fried pickles were perfection! The loaded potato skins were thick and perfectly cooked. Well covered in cheddar cheese and real bacon bits. Waitress brought us the Ranchero sauce to try with pickles and it is delicious with a nice kiss of heat. The ribeye was perfectly cooked! Super tender and a home run. Chicken fried steak was great and the white gravy is spot on perfection. Everyone enjoyed their food. Our server was fantastic and provided excellent service to us. Definitely a great place to eat and our spot to stop next time we are here in Fort Stockton!

K-Bob's is a staple in Ft. Stockton and I love the service and food scene out here. Anytime I'm in town I have to get their chicken fried steak or K-Bob's kabobs. Their dinner rolls and salad wagon are always a hit here. I love that their salad wagon looks like a chuck wagon and the selections are endless from traditional salad to potato salad, soups, beans and desserts. I've been celebrating my birthday every year here since I was 15 and they always make me feel special here.

Back in town and back at K-Bob's. This time we ordered a sirloin dinner to go (back to the hotel) that was rather remarkable. Again, another reason to get your K-Bob. Dicks

Second time I've passed through Ft. Stockton and had a fine meal from K-Bob's. This time the family came with: hubs had The Classic (cream gravy) chicken fried steak with green beans, younger kid had cheeseburger, the older kid had chicken tenders - both with fries, and I had The Southwestern (green chile and queso) chicken fried chicken with broccoli. Hubs also had a salad from the salad bar. Oh, and the kids meals came with large scoop of Blue Bell Ice Cream. If you're in the mood for chicken fried steak/chicken and haven't had any in months, maybe years, this is the place. So good!! Hubs rated his a 10, kids both rated 4 out of 5, so I averaged it to 5 stars. Service was great! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance - it was a little loud but the restaurant was packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Take the food to go if you need a quiet space to unwind.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I don't know why there were low ratings, for what's available in a small town, this is clearly where everyone goes![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'll stop in again someday, hopefully.

Smothered hamburger steak! The onion ring didn't come with the dinner it was a shared item

This is the first time I've been to a K-Bob steak house! The service was phenomenal! The menu had a variety of steakhouse fare. The salad bar was beyond any salad bar I've ever seen. Our dinner was delicious- I definitely would not miss this place if you're in the area!

Great food, especially given I was on a road trip. Great service, too. I will definitely make this a regular stop while in town.

The portion was smaller than I expected, but the flavor didn't disappoint. The pork was tender, and the green chile sauce had a deep, rich taste that reflected hours of slow cooking. It carried more heat than my palate prefers, but spice lovers would likely appreciate it. The accompanying rice and beans were less impressive. The Spanish rice had a fairly standard flavor but was noticeably dry. The refried beans were also dry and seemed as though they had been sitting for quite some time before being served, which took away from an otherwise flavorful entrée. The restaurant itself was clean, colorful, and had a lively atmosphere that made it an inviting place to dine. Prices were about what I would expect for the meal we ordered--fair, though not a standout value. Overall, it was a pleasant stop with friendly service and a well-prepared Chile Verde, even if a few of the side dishes fell short.

But, in all fairness, I've eaten at no fewer than 200 different Tex-Mex restaurants in my lifetime. First, as one reviewer stated, this is very much a New Mexican-style restaurant, although they try to get there with the Tex-Mex. What does this mean? Quite simply, this place uses red sauce (vs. chili gravy) for enchiladas. It also offers stacked enchiladas with an egg placed on top, which is true New Mexican. Beyond that, the menu is quite varied. I'll start with my cheese enchiladas with red sauce. The sauce was spicy as hell, which was wonderful. The enchiladas themselves were a disappointment because they used two corn tortillas to roll them with the smallest pinch of cheese I've experienced in a while. -- I'm not sure about my dad's chile relleno and beef enchilada with green sauce, but he really enjoyed both. The rice and beans were pretty much par for the course. Not bad but nothing special. The salsa here is phenomenal. There's just enough onion and cilantro to make it memorable. It's served cold, which is a must for me, and it has some serious bite. Service here is really friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is old school: cheap paneling and trite "Mexican" decor. The men's bathroom is almost as dark as a movie theater. I don't get to this area often, but I would certainly eat here again any time I do.
