Before I begin let me start off by saying that this review is based solely upon my personal experiences and my personal experiences alone, so with that being said let's go!. This is the first time I actually ordered anything from here, but I have been here on a couple of other occasions with other people ordering from here for lunch and a dinner event. So I decided I would drop in and grab something off the menu because I didn't feel like cooking this particular evening. The food was cooked quickly and my wait time was about 10 minutes or so. The food was still nice and hot when I got home and was pretty good I might add. I ordered the house Lo mein. Dragon city has the most amazing food when I want Chinese food. This is the only place I go now where else. and you get a lot for the money.

The vegetarian options are great. We particularly enjoy the home style tofu. The tofu is cooked perfectly. The General Tso's Tofu isn't particularly hot. I wish there was an option to request more heat. But it's still better than any tofu I can cook at home. read more

I ordered the Scallop with Mixed Vegetables & Kung Po Chicken. Both dishes tasted good. However, the scallop dish was a bit pricey considering how many scallops were actually in the dish. The ratio of vegetables to meat was off with most of the dish consisting of celery. With one pepper warning on the menu, my family that has no tolerance for spicy definitely thought it was spicy. However, if you have a decent tolerance than this dish isn't that spicy. read more

It doesn't matter how their food tastes. They have horrible customer service. I ordered to-go, on their website. Before I confirmed my order I found a coupon area on their site. I printed them off. I showed the delivery guy and he said I could only use it in the restaurant, even though it doesn't say that anywhere on the coupon. Fine, whatever. I was only trying to give the driver an extra dollar tip. So I called the restaurant to let them know what the website says and the lady that answered talked over me the ENTIRE time. Not once apologizing for the coupon being wrong on the website. All I wanted was an "I'm sorry" or for someone to check the website and say "hey, you're right. Let me change that". No. I just had someone yell at me and hang up on me when I asked to speak to a manager. I don't even care about the dollar. Poor customer service!! I ordered Chicken Egg Foo Young. I received Shrimp Egg Foo Young as a first patty and Chicken for the rest. I called before I went to the restaurant. I took the remaining Egg Foo Young as well as the receipt. The woman at the counter was not interested in my dilemma even though I told her my husband is highly allergic to shrimp. She argued with me about what can't happen and then told me she packed my order. I don't know how or why we had a shrimp patty, but we did. This could have been disastrous if I hadn't caught it. My husband had already told me there were too many kids working in the kitchen area. I won't be returning to this establishment. I ordered and they hung up on me mid phone call. When I called back, I had to call back, and when I did they knew who I was. So they don't care who ordered what. They tell me 15 minutes, then hang up. Without any other conversation. Then I call an hour later, and they yell at me for asking where my food is at. I've tried a few Chinese spots around Western Branch/Churchland area & this is the best by far. Its not drop dead amazing but compared to the lackluster competition in the area, this is relatively delicious. It was so good, I ordered two evenings in a row. For my family & I, I ordered broccoli cooked in garlic sauce, vegetable lo mein, wontons, general tso chicken, chicken lo mein, spring rolls & steamed dumplings. I didnt care too much for the wontons too much & I wouldn't order the dumplings again but everything was delicious. The lo mein was so good. I ordered them through Door Dash (i recommend) & both times it arrived very hot with plenty of condiments. My new go to Chinese spot. read more

After ordering it took an hour and 15 minutes to get our food when we did get our food the lady was very rude at the door even though I tipped her five dollars she insisted on counting the money before giving me the food then when I got the food it was cold and tasted like dirt the spring roll could've been used as a tennis ball not fit for a dog I called them back the lady was rude as all get out I told them their food tasted like crap and explained how nasty it was so she said we give money back we never serve you again so when they came back to pick up the food they literally snatched the bag out of my fiancé's hand I would never order that dog food again and I warn you not to read more

This is literally the only Chinese take-out that I go to in this area. The orders are always accurate and fast. I pretty much get the General Tso chicken every time and it's great! My husband has tried the orange chicken and boneless spare ribs which were really good as well. The last time we ate there the General Tso chicken was a little over cooked. I've gotten takeout from here plenty of times .. the food is pretty good but I'm normally ordering for others. Tonight I picked up a called in order ...transaction went ok... the employees Must've been tired tonight or not feeling it because everyone was very short and transactional. I said hello when I walked in lol no response. A thanks after the cashier handed me my credit card receipt back .. no response. I turned around with my daughter to leave and a employee is putting a caution wet floor sign out directly in the middle of the doorway lol. I cannot make this up. Thought we'd give them a try. How disappointing to have over fried in old oil food. Even the crab Rangoon that my grandkids love they wouldn't eat. With an order over $70. They demanded a paper copy of their coupon. Maybe it's because my phone is not local prefix they thought to give us re-fried food. Please see the pictures. I asked if everything was in the bags. Sauces and fortune cookies. They demanded yes I had 8 well there were only 6 no napkins or chopsticks. I had to ask for a receipt. I'm used to good Chinese's this price point. YES!!!! After trial and error living in the western branch area I found an amazing Chinese food place!!!!! The Generals Tso's chicken is so crispy and on point it's insane. NOT fatty at all and perfection. Plenty of sauce and not overloaded with random veggies to skimp on meat. I got smalls of Gen Tso's, hot and spicy beef, Szechuan chicken, boneless spare ribs, plain lo mein. They do not by any means under pack them! I'm so glad I got smalls because they pack as much food in each container as they can! The hot and spicy beef, honestly, could've been spicier BUT i understand that not all people like a lot of spicy so thats why I always keep chili garlic sauce at home. Other than the spice, it was fantastic! Truly, great strips of beef, not at all chewy or fatty. Plenty of sauce and the veggies cooked to tender-crunchy greatness. I'll be posting pictures for proof. Seriously never ordering any other Chinese food from western branch area besides Dragon city. Trust me I've tried MANY with great dissatisfaction. Needless to say, I am very pleased. read more

I got a menu to this place on my doorstep when I got home from work one day. As soon as I noticed they delivered, I was on board. I have to say, it's a pretty solid Chinese delivery place. They offer both egg rolls and spring rolls. They have a pretty varied menu and offer different platters as well as lunch specials. Their delivery was pretty fast (got my food on a Friday night in a half hour!). My only annoyance was that they messed up my order slightly (asked for white rice not fried rice, and got fried rice anyway). Regardless, I'll be ordering from here in the future. They deliver to the whole Churchland area, and possibly parts of Portsmouth and Suffolk as well. Try the house lo mein, it was pretty awesome! read more

This was my first time trying this restaurant. I am home sick and saw that they do deliveries so thought I would give them a try. I was very pleased. The food was all very good and the delivery was fast, all the food was hot, and my order 100% accurate. The food I ordered was more traditional Chinese take out, none of the dishes were super creative but all were solidly prepared. I used their only order process and it was fast and easy. Seriously some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had. The rice was stale and tasted like it had sat in the refrigerator all week. The lo mien was a weird dark brown and not very good at all. The only good thing was they delivered but aside from that I would not recommend anyone to eat here. The chicken had no flavor and orange chicken is supposed to be flavorful. Neither one of us took more than a couple bites and decided no dinner was better than continuing to consume that meal. For $30 and everything to be a disappointment I just don't know how they stay in business. Just wasn't that impressed by this food. On the plus side, our take out stayed hot after a 15 minute drive home. General Tso's was ok, nice flavor but a little overcooked. Chicken wings were okay, too; note that they were already cooked then dropped in grease again before serving. The wings didn't have much in the way of flavor but weren't the worst I ever had. We ordered two combos, (Chicken and a lo mein) and the crab ragoons. The food was pretty good. The rice tasted a little stale but honestly not that bad. The lo mein was excellent. The crab ragoons didn't have much crab, but I'm not real picky on those. Delivery was fast and the delivery driver was a sweet older guy so that was nice. Waited an hour and a half hoping it would get here. Had to call them, give them the order number, couldn't find it. they gave me the excuse that their system was acting up. Give them my address and then they said oh we got your order we just couldn't reach you, your number was busy. Bull crap! Then they tell me they don't deliver that far out. Any one in the Western branch ches. or Portsmouth area of VA needs to try this food! There are several Chinese restaurants in the area but none of them are close to as good as Dragon city.
