While I appreciate the reputation the establishment has built over the years, I found that response disappointing and dismissive. A history of good service does not change the fact that I found a used cigarette filter in my food. I have actually been a customer of the business for years, which is one reason this experience is so upsetting. I expected my concern to be taken seriously and investigated rather than immediately dismissed based on the assumption that it could not have occurred. My goal is not to argue about whether the incident occurred--it did. As a customer (now former), I believed my concerns deserved a thoughtful and professional response.

The Salt & Peppered Prawns were good, but I probably won't order them again. The flavors were great but the seasoning is only on the shells. I found myself rubbing the de-shelled shrimp on the seasoned shells to give them some flavor. I did attempt to eat them with the shells on but I wasn't a fan. You really can't go wrong at Judy's! The staff were incredible and the food is good!!! I still prefer the Chesapeake location but I'm glad I was able to stop in and try the food out at this location as well.

That said, I've also been fortunate enough to discover the occasional exception over the years, and China Hall has consistently proven to be one of the more notable ones in my book. To put it plainly, the food at China Hall just tastes better than at your average take-out joint. The lo mein is never too dry or too soggy; the General Tso's is neither too spicy nor too sweet; the beef is never undercooked/rubbery - you get the idea. I've tried to pinpoint the reasons for this, but I can only surmise that it's a combination of all the little things that go into preparing a dish - fresher ingredients, more skillful cooks, genuine pride in your product, and so on. Basically just an all-around closer attention to detail. In a nutshell, certain restaurants genuinely seek not only to sell, but also to satisfy, and I think it's pretty safe to say that China Hall fits that description. A couple of quick tips: - Check out their website. You can order online for either delivery or take-out, and you can even designate a specific pick-up time if you need to place an order in advance. - When you're looking to entertain on the cheap, consider their Party Tray Specials, which come out to about $4 to $5 per serving. - If you ever become a regular customer, don't be surprised if they start throwing in a free appetizer or 2-liter soda from time to time with your larger orders; nothing huge, but can you really put a price tag on thoughtfulness?
