It's been years since I have been to Dragon Palace. Truthfully it's because I forgot about this Chinese restaurant. They used to be decent, but unfortunately I was not impressed this time. I guess that's why I never think of coming here. Looking at Yelp, there was no recent menus, which is part of the reason I chose to get takeout here. I came in on a Sunday evening around 7pm and there was no one customers in the restaurant. There also was no one to greet customers I walked in. The lady working the front was in the kitchen and came out once she realized I had walked in. I decided to order the House Special Family Dinner for 3 at $17.25 per person. They have Gourmet Family Dinner at $17.99 per person, but the kids like the items in the House Special dinner more. The House Special Dinner comes with - Appetizers: Fried Prawns and Spring Rolls - Soup: Hot and Sour or Wonton - Entrees (for 3): Beef with Broccoli, Sweet and Sour Pork, King Pao Chicken - Steamed Rice and Fortune Cookies The food was just average as there is better Chinese food in Vacaville and surrounding areas. The negative: the fried prawns was replaced with fried cream cheese wontons (didn't realize until I was home), only had 2 spring rolls instead of 3 (didn't realize until I was home), was not given the option for hot and sour soup, steam rice was replaced with fried rice (didn't realize until not realize until I was home) which could be a positive or negative. Was told the takeout would be ready in 30 minutes and when I came back after 20-25 minutes the order was ready. I really wish the service, ambiance and food was better. There is just so many better options for food in Vacaville now, so unfortunately I probably wouldn't be coming back here anytime soon. Maybe not spectacular or like traditional Chinese fare, but the food is always good (after 6 visits) and entrees are large. I like the lemon and the orange chicken as it is not overwhelmingly covered with batter - the balance is just right. Sauces are sweet but not too much. Broccoli beef is good. It's garlicky which may be a plus or negative depending. The fried rice is good and has a decent amount of whatever style you choose. The chow fun, especially the pork, is a whole meal for two or a side for four. I love the rice noodles especially. The pork is flavorful. I've had the chicken,version, and it's just as good as the pork. Mild onions, bean sprouts, and a light soy based sauce is just right. The service has always been prompt and pleasant. To go orders are done relatively quickly, and special requests are honored (such as sauce on the side, no green onion, not spicy or extra spicy) are no problem, as long as they aren't too complicated. The restaurant is not fancy, but it is clean and simple. When I'm tired but need a good meal, Dragon Palace is a safe and satisfying choice. I finally found a good Chinese food restaurant in Vacaville. Thank the maker!! Moving from the peninsula i have been very disappointed with the Chinese restaurants in this area. I'm so glad we stumbled upon this place. It was hard to find at night since their sign did not have lights. They're only open for Togo orders. Order ahead because they get a lot of orders. Food: salt and Pepper Pork Chops is bomb!!! It's nice and tender. Very tasty. I normally do not eat the jalapeños and onions but I ate it and very happy I did. Beef with broccoli was cooked perfectly. The beef was tender and the broccoli was not over cooked. Overall, this will be our new go to Chinese food place when I do not feel like cooking. read more

This is my go to place for quick lunch. Call ahead and pick up in 20-30mins to save some time. Great food and also great price. I highly recommend stopping here for their lunch special. You can choose between chow mein or bbq fried rice plus a protein or veggie option. It's $8.75 per lunch special. They give a lot of food. It usually takes my family and I a second meal to finish if we ordered one each. Their indoor dining is currently not available. However, I've dined here pre pandemic and service is good and the host is friendly. Also you get soup when dining in. My favorite item is their general Chicken and bbq pork fried rice. read more

Second time we've gone here in the last 3 days. This place is delicious. The fried rice was the best I've had in a long time. We also ordered beef and broccoli, sesame chicken, chow fun, chow mein, deluxe wonton ton soup and potstickers. Every single thing was great. They don't offer in person dining which is a shame so we'll have to go to China House for that. However any take out is coming from Dragon Palace. read more

There's only the cashier and the cook, so no in-restaurant service (the sign at the door warns you of such!) I ordered the Chicken Fried rice (to go of course). After years of supporting this place, I am sad to say I will no longer be returning. I'm leaving a bad review not because of the food but because of their service. Their food is good but the portions on a lot of their items are very small but are still priced the same. The last three times I wanted to order food here, they have denied my order. I am trying my best to support small businesses during these times but it's not easy when businesses aren't doing their part. The first time was because they were to busy and couldn't take anymore orders in because they were closing in an hour. Fine. The second time, she said they were short staffed so they were taking less orders in. I let her know I understand with everything going on, so I let it go. The THIRD time, I call at 2:00 and it says they close at 4:00. Once again, she says she cannot take my order. She said they were closing earlier because it's hot outside and they won't reopen till around 4:00. I let her know this is my third time trying to place an order within the last two months and I have not been able to. She said, "yea sorry about that, you can call back at 4:00 when we open again." I understand sometimes you are short staffed and have a lot of orders but it's not fair, for paying customers who want to support a small business in these times, to be denied multiple times and for them to change their hours and pick and choose when they would like to do business. I should've listened to the reviews on yelp rather than DoorDash. Long story short, I was craving Chinese food very badly after such a busy weekend. My mom has a recipe for hot and sour soup that I was craving, but of course I was feeling too lazy to cook it. I ordered Hot & Sour, honey walnut shrimp, and veggie chow mein. The hot & sour wasn't spicy at all. It was a very bland sour tasting soup. The honey walnut shrimp was actually pretty good, but also how could you mess that up? The veggie chow mein was just okay. There was something off about the noodles and seemed old. I don't think I'd order from here again, considering I spent around $50 for only three things that I barely liked. read more

I had read other people reviews on the portion size being small but and I was surprisingly impressed with the amount of food. The Mongolian beef and a side of rice to go filled me up. However, the taste of the Mongolian beef was underwhelming-sauce was tasteless. There was the occasional grouped pieces of maybe what I believe were supposed to be small crunchy noodles and to me unusual vegetable choices in the dish including celery. We've been going to the Dragon Palace for years. They are our favorite Chinese restaurant in the area. I almost always order Kung Pao Chicken here. It is not very spicy and they don't put peanuts, but I really like it. Their Wonton Soup is really good. My husband and son love their General Tso Chicken, Chow Mein, Lemon Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, and more. They are really popular for take out and delivery. Yay that they are open on Monday's. When we can time it right, Lunch Specials are good. If anyone asks me for a Chinese restaurant recommended in Vacaville, Dragon Palace is my top choice. read more

Very disappointed with the bbq pork and other pork nothing but fat shrimp was nothing but batter orange chicken no flavor

I ordered on line and it said 35 minutes for the order to be ready. It took an hour and 20 minutes before the order was ready. Food was just ok. Once I arrived there were lots of other people waiting ....and waiting...,,and waiting. And no one up front to explain anything. Very strange and uncomfortable. Yummy yummy. So I have eaten at Dragon Palace three times now and everything we have had was delicious. I'll be honest the service is slow whether dining in or taking out but that is because it is a small mom and pop owned restaurant. If you are not in a rush and just going to hang out and eat good food then it is well worth the wait. The wonton soup is a great way to start your meal especially on a cold day. Very flavorful and chocked full of tasty vegetables. We've had BBQ pork and chicken chow mein and both had great taste. I personally prefer the pork as it has that smoked flavor. The bacon fried rice is the bomb and is hands down my fav. We've also had lemon chicken and sweet and sour pork which is crispy and not soggy. I love crispy meat with the sauce poured on to enhance the flavor. Last but not least I don't like shrimp but we got the asparagus shrimp which my boyfriend loved and I picked out the asparagus which was so good and crunchy. Nice big, thick and fresh asparagus with an amazing sauce. The other veggie worth a try is the sautéed snow peas. They too were fresh and tasty. I used to really love Dragon Palace, but maybe because one competitor closed, and another raised their prices way beyond inflation, it looks like they now think they can do what they want. The Kung Pao Chicken that used to be so good now comes without any sauce at all, and not even the traditional peanuts sprinkled on top. And they were 'out' of hot sauce until later in the week. Huh? All I can say is, "SCRUMPTIOUS!" Every single bite was a symphony of flavors. We had the Shrimp in Black Bean Sauce, House Chow Mein, Beef w/Ginger and Cream Cheese Filled Won Tons. Every dish was seasoned to perfection. The meat was so tender it melted in my mouth. The shrimp was not overdone at all and the sauce was incredible. Won tons were crispy and added just the right touch to our meal. When my son picked up our order he mentioned that it was our first time trying them out. The lady replied, "You'll love it! Amazing food!! We have been looking for a new Chinese food place and we have found THE ONE! We live in Fairfield and whether we order through DoorDash or pick it up in person the food is always piping hot by the time we get home! This place has NEVER let me down! They're definitely a hidden gem here in Vacaville. They're very respectful to their custom with their bows, they'll even press the hand sanitizer for you, and their food tastes exactly how I expect it to which is amazing! Im a huge lover of Singapore fried Noodles and MOST places over cook the noodles but not this place! Their noodles have been perfect every single time! Dragon Palace in Vacaville is my family's go to spot for Chinese food. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza in between a bank and a liquor store. It is a quaint restaurant with friendly staff and friendly service. The lady who works the front of the restaurant (don't know her name) is very pleasant and helpful. You can use the yelp app to order food for either delivery or takeout. We usually order for takeout and it is very simple to do so through the app. We have ordered a variety of entrees and have not been disappointed by the quality or taste of the food. There have been times where the veggies in our entrees have been slightly large pieces but that is just a minor complaint/observation. It does not change the fact that the food tastes good. Our favorites that we order from Dragon Palace is the sesame beef, their combination fried rice, and I personally like the beef with black bean sauce chow fun. I recommend Dragon Palace if you are looking for a good place for Chinese food. We order from here often and have no complaints about their service. If you're from the area or are in the area, don't hesitate to give them a try. read more
