I would give this place a 3.5/5 stars. It's more on the Americanized Chinese food in terms of taste so definitely go into an expectation with that in mind! For a lunch menu, they had a good selection of food to choose from like mussels, some sushi, different types of noodles, variety of chicken, squid and assortment of soup. The dessert selection was reasonable with flan, variety of cakes, ice cream, and fruit tarts. It wasn't extraordinary in terms of food quality (hence why the lower rating) but for an AYCE buffet, it was a bit of an small upgrade to Mandarin. I went around the weekday lunches and it was pretty busy. The service was friendly and attentive. I wouldn't mind coming back but it's not somewhere I would go out of my way for. read more

The last time I was here was many years ago and I vividly remember how amazing both food and atmosphere was. Fast forward I decided to swing by during the weekday for lunch and it surprised me as to how busy it was. It was great to see tour groups and locals coming by to dine for a quick lunch. Food wise, it was what you would expect during the weekdays. Steady flow, few options that stood out was the squid tentacles in black bean sauce, steam white fish with shredded green onions/ginger, mussels in black bean sauce and tofu pudding. I rarely see tofu pudding being offered at buffet and I still remember being super fond of it while dining here for dinner. I found the food to be a bit salty, slightly greasy and the options were very limited imo so after three plates including dessert I was pretty much done. When we arrived, we were told that they had a promo-kids each free but you had to pay in cash. When I asked where's the closest bank, I was told I don't know, google it. Rating them a 3.5/5 but I'll round up. SERVICE: It doesn't seem that busy today on a Wednesday so there were quite a lot of servers out and it was easy to find them and to ask for some things. The servers we tend to get seem to be really nice. The one today always smiled and made jokes. He also accommodated for my stroller to put it close to us and keep in a corner where it won't be in anyone's way. They also understand English well, that's a plus! FOOD: It's not bad. They also have prime rib, prawns, peking duck, and lobster claws on a weekday. I don't think they had lobster on a weekday before and I believe they gave a ticket 1-2 per person for this. They might've changed it or it's because of the whole COVID-19 situation... I usually get sushi, peking duck, sesame chicken, noodles, and some veggies. Those are my favourites and they usually turn out right. Today the peking duck wraps were too hard, I think it's just been out for a while since there aren't that many people. If there's something you want and they have not much left out, you can easily ask anyone by the buffet to refill, they will. PRICE: It's pretty much similar to Mandarin but slightly more expensive by a dollar or two. If it's your birthday month, you have to pay cash and with at least 4 adults. 4 and under are only $2.99. First buffet during the pandemic so I'll write more about what to expect for the next little while. We did a walk-in but had to wait about 10-minutes while they figured out seating. Plus, I believe they were just re-opening for dinner hours. Is it still buffet style? Yes, it is. Only difference is you have to wear a mask and gloves when you get your food. Is the buffet limited? No, it seemed fully stocked like a normal pre-pandemic day. Food quality is still as good. However, I love me some chicken balls and those were a bit disappointing. Ratio was off and the batter was overcooked. What was great though was that they had a special offer where you can get half of a steamed lobster with an abalone. I avoid going to buffets because I know I have very poor self control when I'm in these environments. Here for a retirement gathering, it made sense because it has enough variety so people can try different things or you can just eat what you know. Thursdays they have grilled oysters! These were ok. They didn't blow me away. What I was impressed with was the seafood boil! Crab legs, crayfish, and shrimp in a spicy red sauce that was delicious! I had 3 plates and I ate with plastic gloves. I'm also a fan of their Peking duck. The skin is crisp and the meat is moist. You know when you eat this at restaurants there's never enough skin and meat to go into your wrappers cuz you have to share with the rest of your table. Well, here you can pile on the duck!! Yum!! Great buffet with lots of gooptions! They currently have AYCE oysters (raw, grilled with garlic and grilled with cheese) until the end of June for dinner. Definitely worth checking out! I think I've been coming here like once a year ever since they first opened. Comparatively for a buffet, this is really freaking often for me LOL. It satisfies my random Chinese buffet cravings. Service here is probably the best of any Chinese buffet. They're always consistently clearing off your dirty plates, refilling water, and replenishing the buffet tables. We came like 10 mins before they opened and we saw them doing a lil team pow wow before service started. Pretty cute seeing a bunch of middle aged Chinese waiters chanting and cheering HAHA. Food here is average. Typical Chinese buffet stuff - noodz, fried rice, stir fry dishes, fried station, sushi, cold stuff/salads/stuff I skip, fruits, and desserts. They also have a hotpot station but, for lunch they no longer have the fresh cut noodles... it's just a choose-your-own-noodles-and-toppings noodle station. Food-wise, there's really nothing to write home about... it's just aiight. BUT, their tofu pudding is actually really good here and I def recommend getting some! In my opinion, Dragon Pearl, and its sister restaurant, Dragon Legend, offers the most authentic Chinese food at a buffet restaurant in Toronto. If you've had better, please let me know where. It's been busy every time I've been here, whether for lunch or dinner. Even with a reservation, we still had to wait. Walk-ins must get frustrated all the time. Tonight, we had a party of eighteen, celebrating my cousin's birthday. Yes, a reservation was required. Despite the many choices, I just can't resist starting with soup and salad, even just a little. I had my usual Hot and Sour Soup with a wonton thrown in. My salad included some lettuce, mango, crab, seaweed, and egg - just bites of things that I like. My main course was the prime rib with mashed potatoes. It's not Chinese but it's what I like. I did have some Chinese food on my next plate and, of course, I couldn't miss the Peking duck, one of my all-time favourite dishes. Yummy! Although this is an all-you-can-eat buffet, they limit how much lobster you can have by handing out tickets when you're seated. That's odd but they've always done it this way. I'm allergic to it so it didn't bother me. The overall food quality was very good, and consistent throughout my visits here. The servers are very attentive, refilling glasses and providing extra napkins without us having to ask. They were also very accommodating in helping us to store and serve a birthday cake that we provided. Nicely done. We usually go for dinners here and Dragon Legend which is usually better, but this time gave lunch a try...For starter, its ideal to book a reservation or you'll end up waiting for a bit on the weekend.. The selections we feel is now less than pre-pandemic...There's one row station of hot food then the roast beef/grill section/ then sushi section with sashimi offer of salmon with salad bar/ noodle station that not much people go to and a mini hot area where peking duck is given 1x piece with wrap at a time... One of the best all you can eat Chinese buffets I've been to in a while. We came here on Saturday and it was crowded! We waited for about 45 minutes for a table to be ready for 5 of us. (Fyi, they can accommodate large tables too.. there was a table of 26...) They have a Saturday special where they give you a coupon/card to go redeem for one lobster tail. And man, that lobster tail was delicious! Another surprise was a coupon/card for a slice of Wagyu beef.... And that just melted in my mouth. I've watched the Chinese buffets in the GTA come and go over the years with only Mandarin being seemingly resistant to changing customer preferences. I think there's finally another contender with Dragon Pearl proving that it can last. This buffet has a 2 hour seating limit and I can understand why - the food is really good and you could just spend the whole day chowing down on it. The decor is...interesting. I was told that it was Chinese style and it appears that way when you first walk in. There are display cases with the heads of all of the zodiac animals, a huge buddha, and a zen waterfall to greet you. Then it kinda just becomes tiki with giant wooden bird cages and on the wall there were figures that kind of looked like Kokopelli? For some reason there's also jewelry on display as well that they tell you not to touch even though they're in cases. Otherwise the place is gigantic and there are huge wall screens that were showing a Chinese concert at the time. The food is really what couldn't be beat so let's talk about that. Each night has a special. We were there on a Wednesday so the special dish were raw oysters! I'm not sure what oyster they were but they were huge and very fresh tasting. There was no posted limit on how many you could take either. Speaking of limits, they didn't have one for their sashimi either! There was someone there to help you pick up the salmon and tuna sashimi but you could tell her how many pieces you wanted and she was happy to oblige. Other premium items included peking duck wraps (they serve you a wrapper and 2 pieces of duck per wrapper) and they have some pretty fancy Chinese soups as well - there was the vitality one with snow fungus, papaya, white almonds, and red dates. They had a lot of just good food as well. There was a carvery station that had very well flavoured, tender, and succulent beef ribs, as well as a good prime rib. The grill area was dishing out fresh chicken and sausage constantly. The desserts were no exception as well. There was a sugar free cappuccino ice cream and some sugar free items with the cakes. Waffles were available although they don't make them fresh for you. They had them ready for you to pick up. A fun dessert they had was the Chinese New Year Cake (nian gao) which was served over by the grill section. The service and staff were really superb. I mentioned above that this restaurant is ginormous and they have the numbers in staff (or at least very effective ones) to match. My water was always full. Almost immediately after I finished my plate, a waiter would be by to clear it away. When I was at the buffet, someone had dropped food on the floor. Many interesting choices for seating; high back royal chairs, a round table that looks like it's enclosed in a birdcage and even an elaborate dragon boat. Came here at noon for lunch. On Tuesdays, there is special pricing as it's $14.50 for lunch (regular price is $17.99). This place isn't your typical Chinese buffet - it's nicely decorated, clean, and the service is good. Food: The buffet has many options and is organized into sections: grilled foods, sushi, dessert bar, bread & soup, etc. The dragon oden station, which is by the salad and dessert bar, caught my eye. At this station, you get to customize your own noodle soup with vegetables, fried tofu, fish balls, and udon noodles. Then, they cook it in a pot for you and you choose the broth that you want. I chose the Szechuan beef broth, which was quite spicy but flavourful! The taste reminded me of the spicy broth that is usually used for hot pot. Other memorable foods that I liked were the red sausage, curry fish balls, and grilled squid. I also tried the fried scallop & tofu. To my surprise, it was actually fried tofu shaped like a scallop. For dessert, I had the green tea mousse cake, nanaimo bar, and the almond cookies. These were a bit too sweet but it was decent overall. I also tried the cappuccino ice cream that was labelled sugar-free. Unfortunately, it was too sweet for me. Value: At regular pricing, I would probably go for dim sum if I want some variety. This was probably my 10th time visiting this buffet for any sort of family gathering. It is definitely a family favourite over the years, and as such, you get to witness how the restaurant as an establishment has changed over time. We came here for the lunch buffet. They now have a beeper which signals when your table is ready. This is definitely a good idea for huge crowds. The buffet selection itself was pretty much the same. Some of my favourites include the salmon sashimi (you get 3 slabs at a time), salmon chips, deviled eggs, peking duck, black bean mussels, chicken wings, roast beef, almond cookies, and green tea mousse cake. They have dim sum here but the quality is not very good. Their sushi rolls were terrible to say the least. The rice had little to know seasoning and the fish was not fresh. The roll was also slowly breaking apart between my chopsticks. I also wish their grilled meats station served food that was at least warm. The BBQ sausage I picked up was pretty cold. What was really cool was the slices of mooncake that was served in the dessert area. They didn't taste the best but it was nice for them to have these out. read more

I am very satisfied to say that this buffet will be one of my favourites. In fact I celebrated 2 birthdays in here already. They have specialties that not other buffets have like their Peking Duck, Lobsters that also include Abalone, and the Longevity Soup. Unfortunately, I still have yet to try their Hong Kong style noodles. Though I think their sushi bar is a bit lacking I know I this is not a AYCE sushi place but other buffets have more variety in what they serve. The atmosphere was also something else it's very presentable and I love those really tall wooden chairs they have and the Chinese Zodiac animal heads you'd see when you come inside. Went here today with my boys, and I gotta say, feels like I got robbed for $32. The service was mediocre, the server got so lazy they left the water jug on our table for us to pour by ourselves. The food was frankly disappointing, the meat was undercooked, and very chewy (Duck, Ribs, etc.) Foods like the chicken and the squid tentacles were very cold and not cooked (I almost puked). The bread was very stale and not very flavorful. Solid buffet with a wide variety of options--from sushi to udon to Peking duck, they've got you covered on East Asian food. I came here for lunch on Boxing Day, and it was pretty busy--had to wait in line for a lot of items (duck, sushi) but timewise it wasn't too bad and the food was always well-stocked. Would just bee mentally prepared for a bit of waiting if coming here on a holiday or weekend. Food-wise, I think this place was okay--like I mentioned above, they do have good variety. However, I don't think the actual taste/quality of the food is anything special. The Peking duck is dry/not crispy, the sushi is decent but not the freshest, other cooked dishes are good but not outstanding... Not a disappointing meal, just an average one. Came here for their buffet dinner yesterday (Friday) night and it was excellent. I think they have the most variety that I've ever experienced at a GTA buffet, and more importantly, the quality of the food is very high. Standouts include: unexpected array of sashimi (salmon, white tuna, red tuna, egg), pan fried soft shell crab with ginger and green onion (my parents and I thought this dish was the best), and creamy creme brulee. They have so many types of "worth it" foods such as Peking duck, rib eye, soups (including a lobster tofu soup with chunks of lobster), dim sum (ie. Har gow), desert cakes (matcha, chocolate, tiramisu). We've been coming here for many years now and I commend the owner and staff because this place has only gotten better and better. The price is quite high ($29 dinner Mon-Thurs, $36 Fri-Sun) but definitely worth it in my books, and especially if you enjoy seafood. On weekends, the higher price is reflected in an additional dish such as unlimited king crab legs on Friday, but I personally think their Mon-Thurs dinner selection would be great as well. read more

Dragon Pearl is without a doubt the best Chinese buffet I've ever been to. It was $37.99 Canadian and SO WORTH IT! When you walk in the door, you are greeted by the busts of the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac. There's a bookmark souvenir you can grab above each case. Find your year and take a picture with it while you wait for a table. The center of the restaurant looks like part of a wooden ship. There is also a gigantic bird cage enclosing some tables...not sure how I feel about that. That's just a rundown of the decor. Everywhere you look, everywhere you turn, there is beautiful, glossy Chinese food, including Peking Duck and they even serve sushi. Friday night buffet feature was All-You-Can-Eat-Crab and it was quality crab. We saw signs for lobster and were told that is on Saturday. (Note to future self...) I filled my plate and even with piling, didn't even cover 1/10 of what they had to offer. After we sat down and started to eat, I knew I was in trouble when my friend's aunt switched to English and without missing a beat said "Take it easy, Sofia." I laughed, but I'm sure I blushed too. I think I only have two speeds: fast and faster. New Year's Resolution: learn to slow down. My sodium levels definitely spiked and I found out bust a gut can be literal too. This used to be a family favourite but now it's a disappointment, terrible confrontational and rude exchanges made by the staff to us, very disappointed. Food was alright but our waitress kept rushing us to get the bill and leave when we were still eating. If they don't care enough to hide their rudeness and frustrations, how is the food prepped when no one is watching?? We were a group of 9 ladies and no one will return. Oh and their birthday special where 1 adult eat free if there are 4-5 other adults present is an advertising SCAM! when we asked about it, they said the whole table has to pay in cash. We didn't carry enough cash for 9 people but the ad says 5 people minimum, so we enquired what if 5 ppl pay cash can the rest on card? Our waitress had the guts to lie to our face and says they just changed their policy that the whole table has to pay cash no matter the size although the poster on their window doesn't state that. It's one of those businesses advertises specials but when we take them up on their offer, they find ways to nullify your request, devious ways to prevent you from using their specials with extra hidden requirements. They would do whatever it takes so they won't have to let 1 person get a free meal at a buffet!! We had 2 lawyers at our table and they just had enough, expressed their concern about the integrity of this restaurant and their staff. Just on principal alone we got enough cash to get the bill paid. Had the restaurant been decent, they would have gotten more tip. We ordered hot tea and they serve it in a pot, it is placed on top of a tea pot holder with a small candle placed on the bottle to keep the tea hot/warm the entire time. Similar/same buffet items and with COVID, they require and provide gloves when entering the buffet stations.
