June 10, 2026 - decided to try Dragon Legend after the finished their renovation. As per usual, there was a large variety of foods. Decent Chinese buffet around $50 per person. They serve Peking duck. You can get two pancakes - one with more meat and one with more skin every time you go to the server. You add the cucumber sticks, green onions and hoisin sauce to your pancakes. I also enjoyed the salt & pepper shrimp and the salmon sashimi. For dessert, I had a soft serve vanilla ice cream cone, which was disappointing, and a piece of wolfberry jelly. Dined here on Sunday evening for my Aunt's birthday and there was plenty of parking available. I think Saturday's are more busy so I'd suggest arriving earlier to secure parking. Price is $55.99 per adult and for senior (65+), there's 20% off the adult price listed. The buffet price is a bit expensive but reasonable in comparison to other buffets. There is a variety of food to choose from including seafood, meats, noodles and veggie dishes to choose from. There's a Peking Duck section and a "noodle bar" as well. My favourite was the sashimi section and it was regularly refilled whenever I went to get more food. Personally, the highlights of the buffet is the seafood and the herbal soup. This is my FAVORITE restaurant to visit whenever I'm in Canada! One of my uncles took me to Dragon Legend for the 1st time a few years ago and it has been on my must visit list every time I'm in Canada. It has a nice variety of dishes and my favorite thing to get is the Peking Duck (very glad that this is available for lunch and dinner). The restaurant is spacious - lots of seating available for small and large groups. The recent addition of claw machines is a nice touch for kids and adults who would like to try their hands at catching some stuffed animals and prizes. It was a highlight for both of my sons when we took them here last year. My most recent visit was this past week when I was in Canada for a work trip and got to spend a few days with family in the Markham area before going to downtown Toronto for work conference. Came here for Father's Day. It was very busy and they had limited seating of 1.5h. We got seated quick though when we arrived at 5:30. The place is newly renovated with lights way brighter than before, you can actually see the food. Their peking duck station and lobster station moved to the side by the soups in their own stand but the line up situation is still confusing. I feel like they should've accounted that during renos. The food seems quite the same. Some food items were better from what I remember and some kind of mediocre. Otherwise it was overall a great experience and nicer to see bright lights. I want to preface this review by saying I am not a Chinese buffet guy. I don't really enjoy them. BUT my mother loves it and it was her birthday so we came to celebrate. I really liked the Chinese theme ambiance. I couldn't believe how packed it was on a Monday night. We came on a Monday because they had crab legs on Monday and we were seated on a table on a boat. I'm a One Piece fan so the table on a pirate boat really got me excited lol. Service was quite exceptional. They came and took our plates whenever needed and replenished our waters. The washrooms were also clean and they had a game/arcade room for the kids. Now on to the actual food, they had nice big pieces of salmon and tuna sashimi. I would skip the sushi though. They also had Peking duck which I thought was only alright. The skin wasn't crispy and it wasn't fatty enough. Their shrimp were really fresh and bouncy. I highly recommend it. I also really liked their steak and Galbi ribs. The steamed spicy halibut and their squid tentacles were quite good as well. They also had a noodle station with machine pulled noodles but it was just meh. They also had this Chinese Ginseng soup which we thought was really good! The lamb skewers was good and flavorful as well and their Cha Siu was surprisingly fatty and tasty. For desserts (I tried them all) , the only one I recommend is their ice cream, egg tarts, taro sago and their Oreo Churro. The Oreo Churro really caught me by surprise. It was Crispy on the outside and had a nice chew with cream filling. It also wasn't too sweet. As for the ice cream, they had my favorite black sesame ice cream and it was great. I wouldn't recommend their cakes. It was a bit dry and spongey. Their creme brulee also wasn't that great. It wasn't silky and smooth enough. And the cheesecakes were too dense/tough. The traditional phoenix cookie and their cream puffs were alright. Overall though, this is one of the better AYCE Chinese style buffets in Toronto. Dragon Legend is owned by the same owners as another popular AYCE buffet, Dragon Pearl. In terms of price, there are different costs for toddlers (4 or under), kids (5-7 or 8-11), adults, and seniors. The dinner buffet pricing is more expensive than the lunch buffet as there are more special items during dinner. For a regular dinner buffet, the adult price is $55.99 + tax. In terms of the space, there is plenty of room for large parties, however, reservations are recommended. The place is elegantly decorated in warm lighting with wooden and red accents throughout. There is a dedicated parking lot for the restaurant, however, during busy times (weekend dinners), the parking can be difficult to find. Food wise, the buffet stations are set up in a square kind of layout, where the centre of the buffet features the peking duck wraps (only 2 per person each time you visit the station), as well as other Chinese specialties. In wise words of my son, the only thing bad about this place is the price. The dining room is built like a pirate ship. If you're lucky, they might seat you at the captain's table. Food is honestly great. Sushi is restaurant quality and not comparable to Chinese buffet sushi. Bbq section has really tasty options. Salad and fruit areas are small but adequate. They always have some specials, like Peking duck, crab legs, lobster and so on. And they even have an arcade for kids. It's a high quality, well stocked Chinese buffet. I think it's the best one in Markham. I would avoid this restaurant on super busy days like holidays. If you can't park outside easily, don't go in because they allow too many people in and it stops being an enjoyable experience. Have been coming here for a while now and notice it is very hit or miss. The days that it is crowded and chaotic really impacts the experience. Parking is impossible even as early as opening hours on Sundays. The days the restaurant is not packed are way more enjoyable, allowing you to appreciate the beautiful decor. Plenty of seating and a large selection of food options. The pecking duck station is my favourite (complete with all the fix ins - green onions, cucumber, hoisin sauce). The grill serves everything from cheesy mussels to grilled pineapple to roast beef. The sushi station includes unlimited sashimi and a limited selection of basic rolls. Recently they have renovated the buffet area. Each kid who dines with them are provided 10 tokens to use at the claw machines in house! It's been a long time since visiting this buffet again but came again for an event. Parking can be difficult if it gets busy, which it seems it always is. Service was pretty good, dishes cleared fairly quickly and tea refilled every so often. Food got refilled decently quickly. Sashimi is limited by round but not bad, the sushi rolls were small but had a larger proportion of rice to filling. Peking duck cooked well. Wrapper was not as thick as I remember it though not the thinnest. We did get a half lobster per person. However it was definitely overcooked and on the mushy side. Some standout items I enjoyed were the conch, fried prawn, beef short ribs, mussels. I wanted to enjoy the grilled skewers but it was way too salty. The lotus root stir fried with vegetables was good as well as the stir fried green beans. Fruit is always a nice dessert and the ice cream bar had some variety. Decided to give this a try during my Toronto trip - and boy was it amazing - Walking in - you'll get a sense of a ancient Chinese Dynasty (or well that was my thought of it) I didn't get many great pictures, as I just wanted to eat lol. We came to Dragon Legend for our company Christmas dinner at the end of November 2024 this year, and this place is SUPER BUSY! Though it is rammed all the time, guests are still very respectful and get in line for food. The restaurant do ask for a refundable deposit of $200 for large group reservations; our party had over 20 guests. We tried to request a semi-private area, but nothing is guaranteed on the day of. We ended up seated in the middle of a very large hall surrounded by many other tables lol. Our seating time was at 7:30pm, and we still had to wait a little for the table to set up. They do have earlier seating times at 4:30pm and 5pm only. The food was pretty decent. Every guest receives a coupon for 1/2 lobster at the grill station (don't forget the butter!) You are allowed to collect the lobster coupons at your table and get it in one go; it will save everyone a lot of time ^^ My favourite go-to items were the deep fried oysters, Peking duck, braised lamb pot, crispy oyster pancake, and the steamed soups! Saw some tiktoks/reels about this buffet before visiting the Markham area and decided to check it out! They advertise cutting a whole tuna on Fridays so we wanted to check that out (unsure if this is a year round thing, so check their site before you go!) We had reservations on a Friday evening and it was decently crowded when we got there. The waiter wasn't sure what time the tuna cutting was happening but was able to give me a ballpark. The buffet is pretty large, with a selection of Chinese selections, sushi, meats, dumplings, Peking duck, and soups. When we were there they were also doing raw oysters, but they were only okay. The Peking duck is served and you can get two pieces at a time (but can go up as many times as you want). We got a plate, and on our second round we happened to see the tuna starting to be cut. This was very showy and cool! The fresh tuna was really good. Overall, I think this is a quantity over quality type place but we enjoyed it for having our expectations as such. For certain foods you almost feel like you're fighting for your life trying to get some because people are being aggressive! (For example, when fresh cuts of beef were put out). All the food looked yummy, fresh and attempting. We tried a little bit of everything. This time, there was a promo - kids eat free with a paid adult (either lunch or dinner). We went on a Friday for lunch and the place was packed! The food stations were barely stocked and people were lined up for the Peking duck (2 pieces per person, and yes, you can go back for more). There was ample seating areas and the bathrooms had a shared handwashing station (outside of the men and women stalls). The decor is definitely on point, chairs were comfy and finished plates were taken away quickly. Onto the food - Peking duck was definitely my favourite - crispy skin, meaty, not fatty. I probably ate 10 pieces myself. The robot slicing the noodles was fun for the kids - this came in a small bowl with your choice of broth and topping. The rolls were extremely small and you could barely see the fish. Salmon sushi was ok. The hot foods were similar in quality to what you'd expect at a food court. Chicken wings were probably the best item in that category. There was a nice single serve hot soup bowl. The soup was brewed with Chinese herbs and was piping hot. There were lots of desserts to choose from - tofu dessert, cheesecake, mousse cake, etc. I think for the price, lunch would be the better option. I have to say, the customer service at the front desk really needs improvement, but the wait staff and employees at the attending food stations were helpful. The food was in our opinion, average at best. It is a buffet after all. The variety is different from what you would get at the Mandarin Buffet. The COVID pandemic, with all their dining-out restrictions resulted in many of them closing, or altering their offerings to take out only. Dragon Legend, and their sister restaurant, Dragon Pearl, weathered the storm and came out of it very well. On a recent visit to Dragon Legend in Markham, I was lucky to get only one of two remaining parking spots. It was packed! And on a weekday! As usual, I started with the salad bar (I have a weakness for salads, believe it or not), a couple pieces of sushi, and my customary blend of soup (half wonton and half hot and sour). Peking Duck, perhaps my favourite, was next on my list. I love the sliced duck with green onions and hoisin sauce on their thin pancakes. Delicious! I usually hit their prime rib station next but that wasn't available today. Maybe only on weekends? I then had some noodles, chicken wings, duck wing, and a couple other pieces of chicken, and pork. By this time, I was STUFFED but dessert was calling my name. Just a few small pieces and a scoop of their mango ice cream... They have so many choices of food and everything looked delicious! Parking is a little tight and small, so it's always best to come a little earlier or park across the street. Lunch options are okay, they had your typical sashimi and sushi, noodle station, hot food grilling station, salad bar with shrimp and mussels, ice cream station and your soups. They do not serve peking duck for the Tuesday lunch special; which is a bummer. There is something for everyone, even for the pickiest eater. 2024-05-25. Dragon Legend. Markham, ON. There's a lot of hype about this place and years ago, it was tough to get a table. They were easily booked at least a month out. Fast forward to 2024, and reservations are definitely more doable. Since COVID prices have gone up even more and you should expect to pay $51 during the weekend dinner service. For this price, you get a one-time choice of half a lobster or giant sea scallops. The rest of the dinner items is open for you to enjoy as many times as you want. The buffet menu here is not as extensive as most places, but I found that they covered the most popular dishes. They certainly had a lot of dishes I really enjoy, and the best part is that the food flavor and quality is above par. In short they don't do as many dishes as their competitors, but what they do do, they do well. The only other notable I have is that while the Peking Duck is bottomless, you're limited to two pieces per visit. They also don't let you double up on the meat. It's one piece of meat per wrap, max two wraps per visit. The sashimi variety is limited, but they have the basics covered. Cooked seafood included abalone, clams, mussels, shrimp, deep fried oysters, and deep fried squid tentacles. The only thing missing was the Black Bean steamed Oysters with scallions. They also have dim sum, but when I think Dim Sum, Dragon Legend isn't what comes to mind, sorry. I did try a couple of items, and it confirmed my thoughts. The Dim Sum desserts (warm tofu with cane sugar syrup, and double boiled milk) we're good thought. They did have both Chinese profiteroles and Chinese doughnuts that were okay, but I've had better in both instances. There is a decent array of fresh cut fruits, which is common for dessert in Chinese restaurants, as well as a decent selection of Chinese cakes and pastries. They also have an assortment of ice creams to please the kids. What I like about the desserts is that they still keep an Asian flare to them. I was pleasantly surprised to see dessert dishes using black sesame! Once of my favorite seeds when it comes to desserts. From ice cream, to gelatin, to the filling in the deep fried dough balls. Overall, the place is pricey, but the food is quite good. I had only a piece (literally) of everything I wanted to taste and I was stuffed by the end of the evening. Dragon Legend is a Chinese buffet. Interior decors were very nice. Food was overall great and so was the service. Went to the restaurant on Saturday at 1:30p, we made reservation and we were seated fairly quickly. First thing I went to was the Peking duck station! I was only allowed two (2) pieces at a time, so I went back to get two more! Then I went to the sushi station and I had salmon avocado rolls, they were my fave! After that, I went to the grill station in the back which had roast beef, fried dumplings, baked cheesy oysters (I believe it or was it clams?), seared sea bass, fries and such. They have fruit section in corner front. They also have dessert table in the back which I didn't like at all cause the dessert was not very tasty. Ice cream was bad too, tasted super artificial and not fresh. They have pizza, Mongolian beef, fried rice, noodles and other types of items you'd find at a Chinese restaurant but that didn't interest me; I didn't get any of that cause I always eat that as a take out whenever I'd order from a Chinese restaurant. It was our friends suggestion to go to a place with variety ! We were there in a Friday lunch and the place was not too full. But we ended up getting seated on the "boat" seat aka you have to walk two steps up to get in the boat shaped seats. So it was challenging if you have to bring extra food. The overall food was good for a buffet. The home made middle was good with bbq pork. But no duck because it is only for evening which I found. Strange because they are serving Peking duck wrap on the other side. The Peking duck was okay not great. But the like of two pieces is somewhat annoying because it was not hay in the restaurant . The vegetable dishes were good . I did not try their dim sum but my friends said that they were okay. I did like their home made soup which was tasty . Sushi was passable . For their dessert, I chose flan, and tofu dessert which is a good choice. Only challenge I found was our horrible seats because I had to walk up and down with my plates.
