My review is about their Latin friday nights! They are held upstairs where they have a bar as well, and enough space to dance. Their Latin Friday Nights start around 11pm are FUN! The DJ they have in house definitely knows the best of both worlds (latin and american), putting beats that attract everyone. By 12am the place gets packed! If you come, you have to dance. It is difficult to just stand there and not engage. Drinks are ok priced, sometimes a bit expensive. Bring friends, dancing shoes and your love for some salsa, bachata, reggaeton, etc! read more

This place needs some more security, jesus christ. Overall the music is chill (hip hop, some dance music) and there are a lot of younger people. But! But the last time I went there were literally several homeless people inside doing cocaine/crack. Not even like in the dark of the dance floor but sitting on the patio/outside area. Did not feel safe in this area. The good thing I have to say about this place that it is a nice change from the other Frenchman jazz bars/etc. Drinks are good, and usually the area has a nice differential of people on the dance floor (crowded) vs the balcony/outside area to chill. read more

We occasionally go on Friday's for Latin night. The music is fun and the drinks are reasonable, but goodness it's hot. Like everyone is drenched hot. They do have a balcony on Esplanade which is a neat spot to cool off when it's not too packed. read more

Came here for Halloween- had an amazing time with even more amazing drinks. There is an upstairs that plays house music and downstairs is rap. Both played great songs, though I preferred the downstairs bartender as they were faster in making drinks. Prices are cheap, there was no cover charge.. just be prepared to dance and have a fun time! I spent most of Lundi Gras and Mardi Gras here. The main bartendar and manager, Preston knows how to treat his patrons, man does he fly! They have a downstairs, upstairs and outside "hidden" courtyard each area giving off a feel of it's own. This is very much a mixed use venue. From comedy, Jazz and live DJ sets you can't put your finger on it and say the Den is just one thing. What you can say is that it's just out of the hustle of Frenchmen's and a nice respite when you're a local looking to squirrel away for a second... while you're playing tour guide for the umpteenth time. The free comedy nights are the main reason we swing by and there's really a scene starting to develop in town... check it out... there are worse ways to spend your life. I've been here twice, once for reggae night with DJ T-Roy and once for turntablist Rob Swift. I like the venue and style of the place because I'm an "asiaphile" and I like all things dragons. Some may consider this place a "dive bar" compared to other places in the city but I like it, Dragon's Den definitely has character with cheap drinks and great music. read more

Another cool place that we ran across during the lots of time that we spent around Frenchman Street. We were told when we sat at the bar that the place was a really late night spot, so it wouldn't be too crowded for a while. This news was very welcoming for us, as we wanted to just chill for a bit in a low key place. The drinks are simple...nothing too fancy...but are strong and cheap. The bartender was very nice to talk to as well. We really enjoyed the local bluegrass type band that was playing as well. I like that they have a big courtyard out back as well. We will definitely be checking this place out again on our next trip...maybe a bit later when it's hopping! read more

Pretty wild place. They do a lot of different types of shows here, from electronic to funk to rap. It gets pretty loud and pretty crowded but everyone is definitely partying in here. We came to find some friends for Shanghai Nights and there was a huge crowd. If you're lucky you can score a seat on the upstairs balcony and stay cool, hear the music and watch everyone on the street. read more

Great place for decently priced drinks, but the real gem in this place is the snacks they are putting out from that little kitchen. The bar and food place are separate, but I think you can pay with a card at the bar for the food. Otherwise the food is cash only. As well as the addition of a Tuesday night weekly Punk night and Thursday night multigenre DJ night featuring rotating weekly local, and regional guest DJs playing anything from Funk, Hip Hop, House, Techno, DNB, Bass and more.The venue is much cleaner in general as well, and some great new bartenders. read more

The people that work the door are very rude and unaccommodating. We had been at the bar for hours when all the sudden our bar stools were taken away and we told we had to stand. The bartender graciously went and spoke to these women and got 2 back for us since we had been there buying drinks all nite. Then a friend walked outside to smoke and he was told he would have to pay $20 to get back in. They were incredibly hard to deal with and I will never step foot in that place again. There are so many wonderful bars around there, I suggest you try one where you can be respected as a supporting patron. read more

Paul and Brett were fantastic. Brett mixed some great drinks and Paul sat down with my GF friend to go over which of their appetizers were Gluten Free. They don't label it on the menu but they use cornstarch for almost everything. Low prices drinks and great food, what more could you want?! read more

I love the events booked at this club, and go often. My favorite hip hop party in Nola has been Friday night when RQ Away spins. I've told people of the party and recommended it over the last year and been many times. But I had an extremely negative experience that shocked me enough to want to write a negative Yelp review. I was early to the show and no one was there, the DJ was socializing with a friend. I asked to say hi, and said hello. I had loved that he played an old song that DJs never play, and told him in a note that it was awesome when he played it, and asked him to play it again. He screamed "NO" in my face before I could finish my sentence, took the note out of my hand, crumpled it up and threw it on the floor. Whatever was going on with this man when he behaved this way, it was a pretty destructive way to treat a fan, a member of the community who populates his parties and cares about music, and a customer of the club. I don't know if I was treated that way because I don't "look like him" as he states his only wanted audience to be. The solution to racism is more racism? That's not spreading the love, it's being a hater. Be warned that if you don't have the same color skin as DJ RQ Away, you probably aren't wanted at his party at the Dragon's Den on Friday night. read more

I was so impressed with this place that I literally have not stopped talking about it since I left! The vibe here represented the best aspects of New Orleans - the music, the people, & the atmosphere were perfect. I felt perfectly comfortable in a tank top, jeans & sneakers...the vibe was very relaxed and carefree. There were so many different areas of the venue, each with their own uniqueness: the downstairs room was jumpin and there was also a back patio area that was perfect for having a seat & engaging in conversation while music played in the background. The upstairs room had more of a house music vibe with an attached balcony overlooking the city. The female DJ downstairs was EVERYTHING and I danced so much my feet hurt. It was a great mix of current hits, throwback songs you used to love, and even some oldies - girl whoever you are YOU DID YO THANG HONEY! Loved, loved, loved this place. read more
