Wow!! Feeling kinda positive we got "Pretty Woman"ed or worse. We went into the bar, got a seat and were asked to leave because we did not have a room at the inn. Jose explained that it was reserved for guests only due the fact that the hotel was at 100% capacity. Totally understandable. My S/O stopped by the lobby to ask about availability. There were many rooms available. When the hotel manager was asked about comments from Jose, she responded, "I will talk to him about his verbiage ." After a trip to the nearby beach, some friends and I stopped in for dinner. The staff wore masks and at the time they were only seating outside, inside dining was closed. The surrounding area was lovely, especially beautiful around sunset. I thought the menu was a bit limited and slightly overpriced but I'm not from CA so maybe that's the average cost. Nevertheless, my food was pretty good. Almost everyone at our table started with a warm and hearty bowl of clam chowder. It was the perfect starter after a long day and warmed our bones in the chilly evening air. Next, I had a burger with garlic fries. Nothing too special about the burger but those fries were divine. What a magnificent place to unwind and take in the beauty that Bodega Bay has to offer. I cannot believe I drove past this gem the last 15 years I've been visiting Doran Beach. If it weren't for that fabulous Groupon Spa Deal I don't think I would've ever discovered this great lounge. I love sitting outside around their fire pits while having a delicious margarita or glass of wine. Lounge staff are some of the nicest people I've met in a long time. They took the time to answer our questions about the menu items and different beers on tap. They are definitely top notch with their customer service. And the food is scrumptious. We had the clam chowder and the Dungeness Crab Mac & Cheese which was rich and decadent. I'll definitely continue to splurge here when I'm in the area. read more

Went here because we got a gift card for our honeymoon. Nice getaway with an Airbnb down the road. This place had a nice ambiance. Wished we got window seating. But we had a seat near the fire side which was nice still. Most people dress casual here, shorts and shirt. The cheese platter was the best item to get. The salmon was nice and the scallops were cooked well but the sauce was ok. I'd choose something more citrus or spicy with it, it was cream heavy. I am leaving 3 stars as to not throw off the establishments rating too much but man, me and my party had a very off putting experience here! The waiter was treating us like it was a chore to serve us. He was audibly sighing during all our interactions. My group and I mostly in work in the service industry so we knew he must have been having a terrible day. At one point, one of the members of our party ordered a soup and an order of the clams, and the waiter loudly responded, "that's not a main dish, it'll be unsatisfying". Our guests just wasn't incredibly hungry but was made to feel shamed for not ordering an entree (even though the cost of the two dishes was more than one entree). Oddly enough, nearly every clam she ate (and the bites that our table shared with her) all had sand. That's normal and totally happens! There was visibly a very small amount of food eaten from that dish, which again was being shared amongst the table, and no one who had been checking in to see if we wanted more food or drinks bothered to ask how the food was for the rest of the time! Through the whole dinner, we could see that some wait staff was visibly (and audibly) talking about and making fun of other customers. We just assumed they could tell something was wrong with that clam dish but didn't care to ask. We chose not to complain or send anything back because by the end of the meal, we felt fairly unwelcome especially because we could hear them making fun of people!! When we asked for two dishes to take home, our boxes were nearly thrown at us. Stopped in for lunch today on our way into town. It was great! Sat at the bar with a view of the foggy bay and ordered the stone fruit salad (10/10), flatbread with prosciutto (10/10) and the fish and chips (7/10). Attentive, friendly bartender served us and checked in often even tho the place was packed at 2:00 for lunch, and they had their hands full. Food came quickly and was largely great. The fish had great crunch and flavor, but could have used more time de-greasing on a rack or something before going right on top of the chips/French fries. The oil and heat from the fresh fried fish soaked into all the fries beneath it which wasn't great, and ended up effecting about half of the fries on the plate. We dined here with our guests on January 15 and simply put, it was HORRIFIC. Never have I had the WORST service. From the extremely long wait- one hour to get our drinks from when we ordered them, to the food coming in at about 2 hours after we were seated and yes that was our salads(starters) and entrees together and a salad missing mind you. Never a check in from the staff or a I am sorry, thanks for your patience. Nothing. Our waiter said the manager would not comp anything off our bill. I reached out 2 times to the managers there and never got a phone call back. We are regulars in the area, have a home in bodega Harbour and will not be coming back or advising anyone to come here. It's considered a luxury hotel and the prices they are asking do not reflect what you get at all, neither is the service. Family brought me here for my birthday. The place is stunning inside and out. We sat outside by the fireside first for appetizers. A cold night with blazing fire pit. Stone and wood patio. Friendly guests more so than some of the staff but we enjoyed ourselves so much anyway. We went inside for dinner but were only allowed to eat in the bar without a reservation even though we saw m at least five tables without guests for the hour we were in the bar as we went to the restroom several times with kids. Our dinner was amazing. I ordered gnocchi. Wow! The most amazing gnocchi I've ever experienced. There were only about 6-7 gnocchi but they were so delicious I loved every bite. Others ordered surf n turf which was scallops and steak. They said it was truly amazing. The bar was lovely as was the dining room we passed through several times on our way to restroom. We had the pleasure of attending the opening celebration this paat Sunday. It was absolutely amazing! First, the renovation of the lounge is beautiful. Spacious, airy, modern but warm and sophisticated. We sampled the appetizers by the new chef, crab roll, flatbread pizza and cheesecake were delicious. Fresh oysters were also a treat. Great selection of beer on tap, local, and a nice variety of local wine to showcase the wineries of the area as well as napa. The firepits and lounge seating overlooking the bay is stunning and you really can't go wrong. We were fortunate the sun was shining and no fog in sight. Staff was inviting and attentive. So this review has two parts. The first is for the restaurant, the second is for the confusing paths and signage that lead you to an unmarked back entrance. First the restaurant. We had heard the clam chowder was good. It was actually excellent, a hint of butter without being overly rich, many other flavors as well. We tried scallops and filet mignon, both were prepared well. The staff was first rate. Now for the crazy ass signage and paths. From the parking lot, you come to a small maze of ramps and short stone walls. A small sign directs you to turn right for the restaurant. Follow that path to an unmarked double glass door. Walk inside and the guessing game begins: try the first door on the right? Nope, that's a wedding reception, you just interrupted a toast. The door on the left in the back? Yeah, when you get close you can see the restaurant name stenciled on the glass. Open the door, you're in the dining room. Ask some guests where the entrance is, they shrug. Eventually a waitress comes up and says she doesn't know where the hostess is. We ask where is the front desk, she sends us back out the door. There are some menus stacked on a low wall and a small podium with no hint of a waiting list or reservation book. Eventually a hostess comes out and leads you back into the dining room. We decided to leave through a different door. Nice lounge with a great outdoor patio! It's clear they don't want all the restaurant traffic walking through here either. So the food is good, and if they get their act together they'll install a couple more signs and put a front desk with a host out in the hallway so you won't have to interrupt wedding receptions or walk through the lounge. read more

Server had no clue about wine yet they have a 6 page wine list PRACTICALLY IN WINE COUNTRY! Ordered the salmon came rare... been 100 places for salmon... never seen it served rare unless sashimi. Sent it back was dry now, veggies with it tasteless... sauce was best thing on dish. Spent 130... got about 10.00 worth of value. Took 10 min to refill my water glass (i timed it), and there were only 15 tables full on roughly 8 staff... pathetic tbh. read more

Excellent locally grown/sourced food & drinks, beautifully presented and delicious. Drakes Fireside Lounge is located at The Bodega Bay Lodge and overlooks Drakes Beach and wildlife preserve. The outside lounge area has comfortable seating surrounded by three large gas fire pits. They even provide warm blankets around the fire. The inside has a gas fireplace, a beautiful bar that overlooks the bay and comfortable seating. We were very impressed with the food, drinks, service and ambience that we had lunch, dinner, late night drinks and breakfast at Drakes. We will definitely return to Drakes for our next coastal trip. read more
