Chowder - delicious but not enough clams
    Amadeo D.

Decent seafood with a Cajun slant, mediocre service, beautiful location on the bay. We were seated at a window table and got to watch local fishermen unloading their boat while we ate. The standout food items we ordered were the fish and chips, and the garlic butter oysters. Unfortunately the oysters were poorly shucked leaving several flakes of shell to navigate around. I ordered the mussels, which turned out to be way spicier than I anticipated. It was served with a grilled wedge of sourdough that was slathered in garlic butter. My kid ordered the burger, which he said was OK. He still ate it all, even if he wasn't impressed. My wife ordered a clam chowder bowl, which she described as delicious but didn't have enough clams. We ordered 4 oysters on the half shell. Unfortunately the kitchen would not split the order with 2 of each variety. We were advised to order the 6 oyster platter which comes with 3 of each if we wanted to try different varieties. Who does that? Every other oyster bar I've ever been to is happy to mix and match oysters. The host at the front was flustered with the crowd when we entered. No smile, no hello, just 'how many?'. It took a real long time to get our drinks from the bar. They arrived after our oyster appitizer, even though we ordered them before. I had to flag our waiter down to request more ketchup for the kids. It was pricey for what it was. I'd probably go back again to give them another shot, just with lower expectations

Happy Hour menu as of June 2026

I've been coming to Bodega Bay since moving to California when I was 8 years old -- so technically, I've been visiting for a few years!! I'm not telling you my age!! Let's say I'm a woman of a certain age!!! Whenever I visit a coastal town, I usually try to avoid the overly touristy spots because, while the views are often amazing, the food can sometimes be underwhelming. We found this place because of their extensive happy hour menu, and they absolutely did not disappoint! The customer service was straightforward and friendly. They weren't overly attentive or constantly checking on you, which I actually appreciate. There were a couple of times I had to wait a bit to order another cocktail, but honestly, it was completely understandable. The bartender was right there working hard, making cocktail after cocktail. It looked like they were extremely busy and possibly a little understaffed -- she definitely wasn't standing around ignoring customers. The happy hour food was fantastic! The fish tacos were delicious, the steak bites were full of flavor, and the shrimp served on top of bread with that sauce... oh my goodness. That sauce was the kind that makes your eyes roll back -- absolutely incredible! It's refreshing to find a place in a beautiful tourist destination that delivers both great food and a great experience. We will definitely be coming back!

2 words: Happy Hour! I grabbed the steak and potatoes w leek purée and the blue cheese wedge cups. Basically $20 for this amazing meal. $8 HH margs on top. Great view. Service is always always above and beyond. Sam was my great bartender. Can't wait to come back.

Rocker Oysterfeller is a nice indoor seating restaurant with views of the water. Inside decor definitely matches the feel of bodega bay. We ordered a Bloody Mary, raw oysters, and mussel soup. The bread beside the soul was so soft and delicious.

Amazing service! We left and an hour later I was still raving about the service we received - my water glass was never empty, we had a backup water jug, and were even gifted some small bites of sea salt caramel ice cream to go with our dessert The food was also amazing, I got oysters to start and fish & chips for the main meal. Both delish! We split the sticky bread pudding and could've died after it was everything bread pudding should be

    Calamari, oyster sampler, rocker oysterfeller

Probably the best oysters I've ever had! We started with the sampler platter so we could decide our favorite and then ordered more of the bodega gems. They were crisp, balanced, and very well shucked. We tried the rocker oysterfeller charbroiled oysters which were fine but the oyster really gets lost. I can see how that would be a plus for some people but I prefer raw oysters. Skip the clam chowder - too thin, tasted like pickles and the bacon overpowered everything. The calamari was excellent with a delicious tartar sauce. Would definitely come back here and I recommend it over the restaurant next door!

Solid Waterfront Spot Worth the Stop Great experience overall. The calamari was excellent -- easily a highlight of the meal. The fried fish and shrimp had a really tasty batter, though it ran a bit heavy. Service was quick and attentive, and you can't beat the ambiance sitting right on the water in Bodega Bay. We came through celebrating a friend's bachelor party weekend out of Sebastopol, and this was a great call for the group. Nothing fancy, just good food in a great setting. Would come back next time I'm in the area.

The server was too busy so the busser ended up taking our entire order. They didn't refill our waters throughout the whole stay. Food was really good ! Everything else had a lot of room for improvement. Beachcomber: 5/10 Didn't taste/look like we expected Moscow Mule: 3/10 Just tasted like smelly vodka, we asked the server and she said the busser put it in wrong as a mezcal mule. I ended up sending it back and the server took it off the bill Filet Mignon (cooked medium): 8.75/10 Pan Roasted Local Fish Filet: 8.25/10

Service is great - we ate here 2 nights and had mostly great food. The wines by the bottle are exceptional and are served at the right temperature and priced very fairly - not overly charged - so order a nice wine and know that you're getting a deal. The fish and chips was good and the fried shrimp - all fresh and not greasy. We normally don't order fried food but this was really light and we were really hungry! The chowder was very good - had that on day one. Had the wedge salad both days and was nice Husband had the creole fisherman stew and loved that with the bread. Didn't love the calamari - wouldn't t order that again. Save room for the soft serve ice cream - we had a small one and it was awesome! Thank you to the staff here - they are exceptional

    Oysters!

The oysters were fresh, briny, and full of flavor. The clam chowder was rich, creamy, and comforting with generous chunks of clams. The King's Platter was perfect for sharing--crispy calamari, juicy shrimp, flaky fish, and golden fries and potato wedges made every bite satisfying. Definitely a great seafood feast! superb customer service too! Great sea view while dining!

We actually meant to go to fishetarian and accidentally went here. I am glad we did as it was chilly outside and glad we got to sit inside. They were out of the deviled eggs I wanted to try. They also forgot to bring me the elote oysters. But the food I did receive was good! I had the local fish.

This place is so good. Ive gone twice and one of my favorite seafood places. If you are open to sharing I recommend the captains platter. This second time I went I had a fish sandwich which was also good but the captains platter is where its at. Nice outdoor seating when weather is good. Otherwise interior had some great views and very open feeling

So plan B into Bodega Bay. 18 minutes later we are in. Started at the bar originally then decided a table was nicer. The place was packed as well as the restaurant through the doorway. Duh, one of the few places open. Keep thinking we should go up there a open up a place called "Andrea's Late Night" and make bank. Anyway, we split the halibut and cous cous and multiple refreshments. Service was great and the tourists were less than annoying. There is an outside fire pit where kids bored with their parents and not too worried about how they were going to make it back to the bungalow, or worse, left there because the elders forgot about them, were roasting marshmallows. Back inside the crowd was clearing out including the couple with their new baby and $1,200 Orbit stroller. Back in the day I bought a car for less than this. Kids these days!!!! (eye roll). As usual we were the last ones out. We typically close down everyplace we go. In populated areas the staff have restaurants/bars they go to after work and every one you saw during the day are there to unwind. Fun times with these groups. Up in Bodega Bay no such place. I think they rotate the after hours activities between different residences. Nice place just wish they stayed open later.

Had a great time celebrating my 34th birthday yet again!

3 Stars because it was both 1-star "not good" and 4-star "great" due to it being the weirdest…read moredining experience I've ever had. So let's start with the "not good" - not only was it not good - the service was so bad I couldn't even bring myself to want to tip out of pity. I try to find reasons to tip in situations such as this but I could not. Literally the last time I left a $0 tip was 20 years ago - I'm no jerk. So to start it took forever to get any attention - felt invisible - after sitting down, I basically had to all but snap my fingers and shout, "garçon!" Then it was left to random chance when and what arrived at our table. Starting with, "here's your beers, not sure which one is which." The food items did not arrive together, but staggered. One item failed to arrive entirely and when I mentioned it there was no apology it was, "well did you say anything?" My befuddled reply, "I'm saying something now?" Then I asked for a napkin along with the check with the missing item removed, and got the check and no napkin. We had to rinse our hands in our water cups then wash them in the bathroom lol. The check arrived with a place to write a gratuity and a total, which is unusual - usually you have to give them your card before you get that option and this abnormality threw me off and I never gave them my card, I just gave a tip of " :( " and put the total and signed my name and left. A few minutes later my wife realized I didn't ever hand them a card. So I called and left a message apologizing and saying I still owe them. They never called back. So the next day I entered the restaurant to pay up, and they were really nice and said they couldn't find an unpaid tab and that it probably got voided out or something. They were magnanimous and cool about it. I'm worried maybe somebody else got charged for my meal? No idea, but I can't bring myself to leave 1 star for a place that in a weird round about way comped me for $75 in food and drinks even though I didn't tip them. What a weird experience.
