Drake's is a sports bar-esque hangout in Cool Springs. They have multiple locations in this franchise but this is the only one in the Nashville area. It reminded me of a more casual and smaller scale version of Yardhouse, and for me more enjoyable as well. I tend to avoid places in shopping centers (its next door to a Carraba's and a Starbucks) but once inside the experience allows you to become immersed and you forget where you are. The front area has corn hole outside then garage-style doors on the front that create an open-air feel. The back part of the restaurant has additional seating a larger bar and a DJ booth where they were hosting trivia on a Sunday night. There's plenty of TVs to watch whichever sports game you would like.We came to watch some NCAA basketball and we probably spent about 5 hours here. Besides the bar stools eventually wearing down my lower back we probably would've stayed here forever. Their menu says they are known for three things--Burgers, Beer and Sushi. If you think this a weird combination you are not alone. However, again somehow it works! A lady sitting next to us at the bar was eating sushi and told us it was great. So we got edamame and a couple of sushi rolls-- The Rainbow Roll and the New York Roll. Both were so awesome that I was pleasantly surprised. Their selection of sushi was just as good as if you went to an actual sushi place. They do have a pretty big selection of draft beer and they have different sizes available too. If you come with a large party of people they have those tall beverage dispensers with a tap on the bottom. It's a great hangout place, good service and good food/drinks. read more

I was in town visiting for the weekend from New Orleans,I decide to stop in Drake's to have lunch .The atmosphere was very nice ,the open bar area was clean and well organized .My server came right over, and introduced herself as Breann. She had a great smile ,and was very outgoing very knowledgable and knew her job very well.The service was outstanding ,I ordered a Cheese Burger fries ,and a cold beer. This place is one to skip for any semblance of service. We were there at 530 on a Tuesday night and didn't get our food till 745 Had to hurry down our waitress with no response as to why our food was taking so long .Others around our table had their food and finished before we got ours. Had to find the manager and he had no good idea why it was taking so long. Finally got our food but still the waitress never came to see if everything was ok. We went to drakes on a whim while in Franklin for a volleyball tournament. The atmosphere was great. The menu had a lot of options. Ordered pretzels and Buffalo chicken dip as appetizers and as entres got salad, a couple bullafo mac n cheese, chicken strips plate, and wings All the food was fabulous. Great little place to go. My only warning is the pricey menu. For 6 people to eat and we got two appetizers, it was over $200. That seemed like a lot for lunch. But if you're not worried about the price, it's worth checking out. It's really good. read more

Stopped into Drake's for lunch after finding it as a nearby spot on Yelp. Drake's is unique in that they have Sushi AND Burgers, I'm not aware of another place with quite this combination. We ordered the Crunchy Shrimp Roll which I could best describe as "Just Okay". (Maybe I've become a Sushi Snob?) For an Entree I had the All American Burger which is everyone's favorite code word for "Big Boy Sandwich" which has inspired a generation of copycats. I couldn't tell what the secret sauce was, but it didn't matter. Still good. The negatives for us were the noise level and how busy it was. It was very loud and very busy, even at lunchtime on a Saturday. Of course this is all to the good for the business, but we were hungry and the wait was probably about 25 minutes. The waitress was very friendly and quite apologetic about the time we spent. So I'm sure it's all the curse of success. What I didn't partake of but that Drake's seems to have a great deal of is Beer. They seem to have lots of different varieties, and with the large number of TVs they are probably an excellent place to spent a lot of time drinking and watching sportsball I'd probably come back if I was in the area, but I'd try and be a little less hungry. read more

There's a really cool atmosphere here. In the front, you have the open door patio and high top tables. TVs line the wall behind the bar so you'll be able to catch all the game. When you go to the back, it's more of a bar scene with wooden accents everywhere. A lot of TVs in the back as well. The food is good too. It's your every day bar food but with several options, the burgers are my go too. The beer cheese and bacon burger is incredible. I checked out this place from all the great reviews on Yelp and very excited to try it out. We arrived on a Saturday around 2pm and found a seat just fine despite the crowds. Our waitress Caroline was great at first; but that went downhill. We ordered an appetizer- boneless bites, 4 rolls of sushi (raw), and the salmon entree with broccoli. Caroline was in a rush to take our order, she wanted to walk away before we could finish. Where's the "customer service?!" We got our app, it was good with the jalapeño honey bbq! We got our sushi, for being raw it tasted warm and like it sat there for a bit. Wasn't satisfying at all. And $15.99 for a bowl of broccoli and 6 oz of grilled salmon. That was just sad! One of our sushi rolls came out last and we basically got thrown chopsticks when we asked for them by Caroline. She never once came to visit to ask how the food is. I have been coming here for years and I'm always pleased with my food, but beer selection is alright.. I think if they had more sour beers I would come more often. The fried fish is delicious, it is batter dipped and very fresh. My boyfriend and I also love to get their sushi rolls, the rainbow roll is very good. They also serve beer towers which you can choose from various draft beers and have them filled to the level of your choice. Good for groups if you can all decide on a single beer. read more

Fairly disappointing today. Went over after a meeting I had to watch the Kentucky game at the bar. After ordering and getting a drink, I waited about 20 minutes to be checked on again. I then ordered food and another drink while my water glass was down to about 1/3 full. When my food came out, it wasn't what I ordered and instead of removing it as I had set it over to the side, the bartender just left it there. I then ordered a Crab Rangoon roll as my sandwich had taken about 30 minutes to come out and the order was wrong, Still no drink, as I had to remind her the drink I ordered (Bloody Mary) and none of the garnish that was pictured for the brunch Bloody Mary. My water glass at this time is empty, and continues to sit empty. No refill was ever offered. I reordered the sushi at Halftime of the game. Fast-forward and the game ends about 45 minutes later. No sushi. I ask to just pay for my two drinks as obviously the kitchen is having issues and interestingly, the bartender disappears for a few minutes and the manager then comes around the corner with my food. I told her I was only interested in paying for my drinks as the two food experiences were botched and then waiting 45 minutes as sushi is MIA. Manager rolls her eyes and just dumps the sushi in the trash can in front of me. After living in Lexington for years and high expectations of BHG, this was embarrassing. The bar was only half-full. It was Saturday afternoon around 2:30. There's zero excuse for a bar of service to be that low. If you have slow or just plain bad bartenders and can't hire more, only open at night. Don't come here the day after Thanksgiving. They were packed and understaffed which led to us hunting to find a table, waiting to order, waiting for our food, waiting some more for our food, and then waiting to pay the bill. We've been to Drake's 2 or 3 times now, so that means it's time for a review! We've never played any games here or experienced any live music, so this review is strictly for food & service. Interior of the restaurant is a fun, bar atmosphere, and they have patio seating when weather permits - they basically just roll up the big doors in the front and voila, you have a patio! It's quite dark & somewhat loud most of the time in the back room, so if it's cool enough outside and light/hearing matters to you, sit out front. They have a really interesting menu here - burgers and sandwiches, some pub classics, and...sushi. Weirdly, and unexpectedly (haha), their sushi is actually pretty good. My husband usually gets a burger or a sandwich and he's always happy with his food, as well. They have a great beer list - tons of beers on tap, which is great, and they offer them in 3 different sizes, which is even better, because sometimes you wanna try a few different beers, amirite? Service has been good, the few times we've gone - last time we had Rachel, and she was outstanding! Super friendly and attentive. This place is an absolute dump. The server was friendly and nice. She made good recommendations. The sushi was good, salad was average, and the burgers were great. Fries were garbage. Cold, soggy, and flavorless. But the place smelled like sewage. The wall we were next to had water leaking out and it smelled rancid. The server was kind enough to let us move. The high top we were seated at was infested with gnats or fruit flys. I killed several but they were everywhere and I was told it was normal for the restaurant this time of year. He is able to work behind a round bar, and no matter which we he is facing, he is able to ignore all customers at the same time. You might think an empty glass would be a signal that another drink is appropriate - Nope. Not for Shawn. You might think holding said empty glass in the air would be a signal. Again - Nope.. You might think tapping empty glass on the bar might get you a look in your direction. Sadly - Nope. 15 minutes of empty drink with. Additionally, you might think if you order food it would come with silverware - it doesn't if Shawn is your server. What if you ask for silverware? Then, only the person who voiced the question gets silverware. We were both eating fish and chips (generally a silverware dependent meal). Huge fan of Drakes and especially their delicious food. Tried Drake's for a lunch where I was craving a bunch of greasy food, if you know what I mean. I was completely impressed with their food along with all the sushi options. I stayed with the mini cheeseburgers with Drake fries for lunch, but was so very tempted for a roll. We arrived right at dinner hour so we had to wait for about 23 minutes- no problem. When we were lead to our table to sit down, it was filthy dirty. The floor had food all over it and the chair seats were covered. Someone previous never apparently fed themselves before! We had to ask to have it re-cleaned. Well, after sitting down we found our clothes soiled from the table edges. Candidly, it was disgusting. We waited for our cocktails, sending both back as they were wrong - we switched to water. We ordered two orders of sushi, a chicken tenders, and three orders of gyoza, along with an edamame. It took the food quite awhile to arrive, but the place is busy, so it was to be expected. Our appetizers never arrived, and when we asked, the waitstaff responded that the kitchen was backed up on sushi orders - ok . She said she would check and see if they were already made and sitting there...? Waiting for the entrees. Well, the appetizers arrived cold. Side plates were given and two of the side plates were not clean, as the last meal hadn't been cleaned from them. Entrees arrived - partially. All were cool and not even warm. The chicken tender order we had to ask for, we were advised they were done but waiting for French fries to be done. Well, when the French fries arrived - they were Hot! We have been traveling and had stopped at eaten at a Drakes in Kentucky - hence the reason we stopped again as it had been excellent. A tale of two restaurants that couldn't be more different. First time trying Drake's today. I had high hopes for this place as my fav celebs had eaten there on their show. I ordered online for carryout. The food would be ready by the time i got there (20min). Pulled up and had to wait 15 min. Got my food which was the buffalo chicken wrap w ranch (which they forgot) and cole slaw and the turkey melt (substituted w ham)--they remembered...w/ drake fries and side of ranch (which again they forgot). We are regulars and have been for many years. Today at 1:00 we ordered our usual. I had the California Cobb and my husband had the mushroom Swiss burger. We normally love the food. Today my salad was so bad I sent it back and it took 20 min to get a replacement. Greens were old, grilled chicken was cold and very dry came with bacon but I ordered without bacon. My husbands burger was way over cooked and dry. He said it was the worse burger he's ever gotten. So disappointed. I sure hope it's not the new normal. read more

Actually enjoyed speaking with them very much. While I understand this is a chain and I know they can't control recipes that I can forgive but I hope this will make its way to corporate. I made the mistake of ordering the Aloha Mule. I'm sorry but I mean truly it was not good. It tasted like bad cough medicine. Ap was the pickle chips. They were actually really good. The ambrosia ranch was dank! For my meal I had the California Cobb. Not my thing and not good. The dressing was waaaaay too sweet. I left half of it in the bowl cause I didn't and couldn't finish it. All of this I would forgive until I saw the bill. I paid over $60 bucks for a meal I didn't enjoy but liked the staff so much I felt bad complaining. I feel cheated and conflicted. Note to corporate: You can't change up that summer menu quick enough. You should nix the duds I mentioned above. They are awful. You should also lower the prices of your not so great food. Came for burger week, first time there, so good! Love this place! We came from Mt. Juliet and it was definitely worth the drive and we can't wait to go back and try their other menu items. Burgers and sushi what a cool concept. We had the peanut butter and jelly burger with Brie cheese and strawberry bacon jam, and it was to die for, we ordered another one after splitting one. We had planned on going somewhere else to split another burger week burger and just decided to stay for a 2nd from drakes. I got the cucumber drink on the menu and it was delicious! Very disappointed in our experience tonight. We are new to town and some friends highly suggested Drake's. We joined them for dinner a few weeks back and had an enjoyable experience. Tonight was nothing short of a disaster. Food was mediocre but service was off the charts awful. We were there with our young kids and another family with young kids, so we're hoping for a quick dining experience. For starters, we weren't given kids menus and had to ask for them. Then, after ordering drinks, it took over 30 minutes to just get our waters. When we asked our waitress a second time for the waters when we saw her pass by, she just said "ok." To our surprise, there was no apology for having already waited 30 minutes. Kids were naturally getting incredibly hungry and wiggly by this point and we asked for crayons but were only given one little packet of crayons for the 4 kids to split. But alas... that was just the start. We ordered 2 sushi meals and 4 kids burgers. Nothing elaborate.... yet over 45 minutes after placing our orders, there we sat without our meals and watching the tables around us (who ordered much later than we had) have their food arrive. The added sting was that we weren't even give any updates on our meals. My husband, who is never confrontational, stopped our waitress and was clearly agitated when he asked her to check on our food since we had watched tables around us order after we had and they were already getting their bills and leaving the restaurant. She walked away to check (or at least I assume that's where she went...?) but never returned to give us any update. At this point, we are truly baffled. Close to an hour after ordering, my sushi arrived but since no one else had their food, I let it sit. About another 5-10 minutes later, a manager brought everyone else's food out and we were told that the kitchen was backed up. I pointed out that other tables around us didn't seem to have the experience of their food being delayed in the kitchen and she mentioned that she would comp the meal (or at least that's what we believed we had heard). When we asked for our check from the waitress after quickly gobbling down our incredibly average meals, she said she would issue 25% off our bill. This was different than what we all thought the manager had said but we now had 4 very tired and fussy kids and we just wanted out of the restaurant. When the bill came though, it appeared the 25% off wasn't even for the entire bill but just one meal!! In summary, although we had a nice experience during our first time dining at Drakes, tonight was so incredibly disappointing with the major delay in getting our food (clearly the order was forgotten about and never put into the system) and complete pack of apology, that we will not be eating here again. What a nightmare. At the end of the day, we all agreed that accidents happen but we would have appreciated any of the following: 1. An honest apology or acknowledgment to the major mess-up 2. A decent discount on the bill 3. A comped appetizer or something to tide 4 very hungry and active kids over for the hour while their burgers were taking so long to make. Oh! And one more thing... we went to the restroom and in both of the 2 bottles of hand soap at the sink, both just had a small amount of watered down soap inside. Drakes is second to none in my opinion. Their food and drinks are always exceptional. Tonight was different than other nights there. The fireplace caught fire and was sparking on the roof. The entire restaurant was evacuated before first responders even got there. The staff at drakes did an excellent job by being proactive and then even went as far as to comp our entire meal and all of the drinks. our server Jeremy, had done an amazing job, even prior to the incident and was always very attentive and friendly. Drakes will forever be one of my favorite places to go to in this area. They went above and beyond in my opinion. read more
