    The bar

This was an epic bar experience! I came in early and the place was pretty quiet. Make sure to read the instructions on the door for entry! The interior is cozy and inviting, seating is limited, so plan accordingly. I got a seat at the bar and Zach did an awesome job of mixing me up some amazing drinks. I started with a Low Key Stunner. It's a great cocktail for a warm summer day, or just taking the edge off. I followed that up with a Kill Bill. It has some good zing and just a little edge to it. If you are feeling really adventurous, see if you can get a Nordic Haircut. Don't ask questions, just enjoy! Awesome location, great service, great drinks!

DM is always in the top options of my coctail bar list when I'm wanting to celebrate the holidays, meet some friends, celebrate an occasion or have a classy date night. Seriously, love the vibes and the coctails. Park in the city lot across the street. If you haven't been to DM yet, you better! It's worth the wait!

Two years later, I still LOVE Drastic. Maybe even more than I did at first! The Kill Bill is my favorite cocktail in the world - citrusy, with just the right amount of spice and booze. My husband loves the measured approach - similar to an old fashioned - he is never disappointed. We live north of the river and Drastic is 100% worth the drive! Check it out, if you haven't yet!

Following dinner at Hank's Garage and Grill we proceeded to Drastic Measures down the street and encountered a short line to enter the speakeasy, which allowed us an opportunity to rest. After a brief wait, the light turned green, indicating it was our turn to enter. we then made our way to our seats, looked over the drink menu and chose our drink selection, My husband chose an old-fashioned and I chose a Pretty Ugly baby, which proved to be quite tasty. The ambience was calming and quiet where you were able to sit and have a conversation with your group. The only thing I wished that it was a little darker.

Another 5 star visit to Drastic Measures. They're currently set up as Drastic World and it is cute! We had a good time and the drinks were fabulous. The service was good too. I love when I go somewhere and pick my top 2-3 options and ask the server to pick which one I get. Especially when what they bring me is so delicious! Drastic World is way better than any of the other bars that have done themed pop-ups. It looks better and tastes better.

I really do not know what took me so long to get here! This little place is fantastic. A quick pop-in with a friend just to try it and see... Now that I am hooked I will be back again and again to try all the cocktails, which keep changing season after season! The place is Quaint and a great little area for quiet conversations. The setting while not intimate mimics it perfectly and you are in a full bar with seemingly no one else. It is a very nice vibe! Oh and lots of NA drinks for Katie! Check their website as that is where their menu lives even at the shop!

My husband and I decided to try out this lovely cocktail bar that is typically busy. We got there shortly after it opened. We were seated immediately and the host asked us what seating choice would be like. Using our phones, we scanned the drink menu and our server also asked us if we had any questions. I asked him to suggest a drink that was the least sour and on the sweeter side. He gave an excellent suggestion and I really enjoyed my cocktail that came in a fun dinosaur egg beverage glass. My husband made his selection and his was also excellent and came with a dinosaur coming up out of the drink. They had a perfect music noise level playlist and a comfortable relaxing upscale vibe. We would definitely recommend.

The Perrineal and Culture Club - both phenomenal, both strong

This was such a cool surprise find! When looking for the establishment, it truly looks like just a small office space from the outside, but upon entrance, it's set up like a relaxed basement, filled with comfortable sofas and chairs with tables, and a cozy bar space in the back. The bartender was very, very good at explaining the taste of each drink, and was so enthused with his explanations, that I wanted to try every single one that we asked about. My favorite by far was the Culture Club, where you can actually taste the goat cheese, but it's so subtle and blends in with the rest of the ingredients. The visit was such a treat, can't wait to go back!

While not the most hidden of speakeasies, Drastic Measures still offers a decent experience. The entrance has a light that will be either green or red to indicate if there is seating available. The staff was also super friendly and offered opinions on what cocktails to order. If you're looking for a cozy bar with nice people, Drastic Measures should totally be on your list. But if you're specifically looking for a great speakeasy experience around Kansas City, there are better options available. Lil Easy and Campfire
    Madeline B.

I had the Lil Easy and thought it was delicious. My husband got the Campfire, which neither of us loved... but the smoky taste is definitely a personal preference. Loved the simple, yet elegant delivery of the drinks. I really love Drastic Measures involvement and inclusivity of different communities within Kansas City. That said, I was disappointed in the service. It felt like customers were being churned. The servers were fine, they were moving people. That said, they were all a bit cold, and a bit of a cold atmosphere in turn. I'd try Drastic Measures again, for sure. But would hope for maybe some improved service and ambience.

Awesome little speakeasy cocktail bar located in the newly bustling downtown area of Shawnee. I'd been want to pop in to check it out for a while and was in the area with nothing to do so decided to stop in. You'll probably be waiting. I would honestly just expect it. They have instructions posted on the door but basically it's red light = wait, green light = knock and wait. But we didn't wait too long, maybe 20-30 minutes. They have a great selection of cocktails. Some smokey, some sweet, some more boozy than others. I feel like they have something for everyone. I tried the Thots N Prayers: curry infused mezcal, cacao, mango, and lime. It was smokey, smooth, and refreshingly fruity all at the same time. I'd definitely recommend it. I also tried a sip of the Campfire: bourbon, peated scotch, amaro averna, sfumato, and cane sugar. I don't know what half that stuff is but this was a boozy, smokey, and smooth cocktail that would be awesome with some bbq. The interior was small but they make good use of the space. You may share a spot with others but it's always fun meeting new people. The chairs are comfy and the decor is a bit dark and moody. The staff were all friendly and efficient. I will def be back because there's way more drinks that I want to try!

One of the managers at the Monarch Bar on the Plaza highly recommended this place, so of course we decided to go. I've been here a few times recently this summer, and always have a great experience. The drinks are unique but still approachable, and I love that they mix it up each quarter. Not all of the drinks have been my favorite, but still happy I ordered them. It's not on the same level as the Monarch, Verdigris, or Mercury Room, but it's a nice local neighborhood speakeasy. Sometimes it gets busy, especially Thursday - Saturday night. Wednesdays are a bit more slow. Servers have always been welcome and accommodating. Haven't experienced the crankiness or rushed feeling that others described- maybe those people are gone now or they've been retrained. I don't think there's anything polarizing or offensive at this speakeasy bar. It's a cool place to get a drink and get away from it all.

This place is definitely hidden away. I can consider this the number one if you know if you know, place in Johnson county. The vibe is low and perfect for a date night. Service flight and shout out drastic measures KC .

The space is smallish but they do have bar seating in addition to seating throughout. The service was friendly and the drinks were great. They don't offer food, but they do offer cocktails, beer, wine, and mocktails. I went on a Sunday and they have a special menu called "Almost Monday." It's a smaller, simpler cocktail menu and the prices are very fair compared to other cocktail spots. I tried the Caipirinha (pineapple) and the Negroni sour. Both were good. My favorite between the two was the Negroni. It had a pretty color and wasn't too sour or strong. I'd def recommend it and get it again. Definitely stop in and check out this cute spot in Shawnee.

When you arrive there is parallel parking available outside the bar. When you walk in you'll feel like your bright, vibrant, and feels incredibly welcoming. Also, they have some really fun drinks as well that have been thoughtfully put together. We ended up sitting at the bar and I started with the Reformed Porn Star (vanilla vodka, bronson's tropical milk punch, passion fruit, Prosecco, citric acid and popping boba) which was by far my favorite drink and felt like I could have drank a couple more of these. Second I tried the Neo Cosmo (white rum, strawberry, cacao, coconut, rose hip, lime, bubble) which was good and was a fun drink with an ice cream shaped cup and a bubble on the top (meant to look like an ice cream cone). If you are in the area, this bar is a must try, the bartenders were awesome and took good care of us. Between the creative cocktails, fun atmosphere, unique floral setting, this was a memorable experience I'd definitely return for.

There are a handful of parking spots allocated to the restaurant but street parking is available, and there is parking in the city hall lot when they're closed. It was Saturday evening, a little after 5:00. Crazy busy. The customers were a little scary when they pounced on the available tables. Some patrons at the bar were willing to scootch together when there's an empty seat. It's probably a little less crazy when it's warm enough for the outdoor seating. When sitting at the tables you place orders at the front counter, on the kiosks, at the bar the bartender takes orders. When we went Tea was the bartender and Jenny was the hostess. I had the Special Philadelphia Cheesesteak Burrito for $13.99 and a Crunchy Taco with ground beef $3.79, and a House Margarita $9.99. The food and drinks were pretty good but I think it was the happy atmosphere that made it a truly enjoyable experience.

It was adorable and the drinks were divine. Around Christmas they do a popup bar and in 2025 it was themed around a ski lodge. We tried to versions of the old fashioned on the menu and though we did like one over the other both were well balanced cocktails. After we ordered our libations the bartender suggested we head upstairs where it was less crowded and it was so cozy we felt like we were in someone's living room. Another couple joined us and we ended up having such a lovely conversation with them, chatting all about our favorite hot spots in Kansas City (gotta love KC pride). Just a note this is a slightly hidden speakeasy inside a pizza place, you need to have a password but it's easily found on their social media pages- just check Instagram. On our way out we decided to get a slice of pie (pizza pie that is) to balance out all that whiskey we washed down.
