Each locatiom looks the same as in a carbon copy from retro 80s with yellow highlights. There neon signs are amazing to see. The order counter is a bit small, so be prepared to stand in line outside if you arrive with a large group. The tacos are great to enjoy, but not a traditional mexican taco. The chefs are experiemental with there style of cooking. So only come if you interested in tasting something fun and newer. They have drinks as wells from jarritos/beer/margarita You get to choose from different levels of sauces with tthe tattos. Would not recommend the cup of street corn. It is such a small serving it seems overpriced for my comfort. Curly fries, taquitos, or nachos are great options for those who prefer to just have a snack instead of whole meal. Tiki Taco opened ins Shawnee October 2025. A KC franchise with 5 locations. This is a little place in the middle of Old Town Shawnee. There are a handful of parking spots allocated to the restaurant but street parking is available, and there is parking in the city hall lot when they're closed. It was Saturday evening, a little after 5:00. Crazy busy. The customers were a little scary when they pounced on the available tables. Some patrons at the bar were willing to scootch together when there's an empty seat. It's probably a little less crazy when it's warm enough for the outdoor seating. When sitting at the tables you place orders at the front counter, on the kiosks, at the bar the bartender takes orders. When we went Tea was the bartender and Jenny was the hostess. Both were phenomenal. We started with the Chips & Guac (homemade) $6.49 and added Salsa on the side. FPO had the KC Burrito with Carne Asada for $11.99 and Corona Extra $3.79. I had the Special Philadelphia Cheesesteak Burrito for $13.99 and a Crunchy Taco with ground beef $3.79, and a House Margarita $9.99. If you've been to a Tiki Taco in the area before, this one is exactly what you'd expect. Fun decor inside and delicious food and drink. They also have a nice patio, a walk up window, and great service. I recently visited this location for the first time and wasn't disappointed. I started with a margarita and it was delicious per usual. I had to start with some chips and queso. The queso is really good. It's pretty mild. The individual that took the order also gave some food suggestions. She suggested an avocado taco with added al Pastor. I also ordered a soft taco with just al pastor and a ground beef chimi. I did not know that you can get the Al Pastor with pineapple or without. But who wants it without pineapple? The tacos were delicious and exactly what I expected. The pork is super flavorful and juicy. The chimi was crispy and indulgent. I will definitely return to this location and I recommend that you check it out if you haven't been yet. read more

We won a gift card for Tiki Taco from an auction and were excited to give them a try. I showed up with my husband and 1 year old daughter. The order window is right when you walk in, but the space is very small so if more than one or two people are there it's very crowded. Staff were great though at taking our order quickly and we found seats in the dining room and a high chair for our daughter. We ordered the chips and queso to start and I got the Baja fish tacos and a side of beans. I was excited when the chips and queso came out because a lot of places not have super thin chips that can't hold up to dipping but these were nice and thick. You could even see the salt crystals on top,which I appreciate. Unfortunately the chips were a bit of a let down. They tasted old....like either they were stale or the oil in the fryer hadn't been changed when it should. The queso on the other hand was very good. The beans were great, the seasoning for them was fantastic and the baby really enjoyed them too. The fish tacos were ok. The fish was cooked nicely, but the taco overall didn't have any flavor, the Baja sauce was there, but didn't seem to add anything to the overall taste. Overall, not bad, just not that good. Ever since I tried Tiki Taco for the first time at the Yelp event this year. I got excited to see this local franchise expanding Had to check out this new place that took over an old Mexican Restaurant. They turned this into a new place. Love the decor, space, and food. My fav from here was the Thai fried chicken taco, carne taco and KC burrito. Everything came out fresh and hot. Def worth it. Service was great too. read more

We're SO glad to have this new restaurant in downtown Shawnee. Great little patio, but the wall around it is SO high no one driving by can see in and no one on patio can see out. So you're looking at a wall... they need to all a bar top on the 1/2 wall and bar stools around it to improve the view. Not much seating inside (which won't be good as the weather gets colder), it's super crowded. Seating isn't very comfortable inside or out, so we might get ours to go next time. But... the food was great and reasonably priced!! We will be back for that. Drinks were so-so, wasnt sure there was tequila in my Margarita. So again, take out will probably be our route. read more

We stopped by to try out the tacos and were not disappointed! We had never been to Tiki Taco before and so I first went up to the order counter to ask about whether they had any gluten-free options. They don't have very many but they have several. I chose two of the grilled shrimp tacos, and my husband had two grilled shrimp as well as a Korean barbecue taco. It came to almost $30 for five tacos, which to me is a bit high without any rice, but I will say that they were excellent and very flavorful and we would definitely go back. The service was good and friendly and they had a lot of people in and out, so there were workers continually cleaning off tables. We chose to eat outside since it was a nice day. They have indoor and outdoor seating and they also have a bar for alcohol alcoholic beverages. read more

I would give an enthusiastic 5 star review if not for the confusing seating and ordering process. It's open seating for most patrons. If you sit at the bar you can order from the bartender. If you sit outside you can order via a the QR code on the napkin box. If you snag an inside table you have to order at either the kiosk or the window via a real human. We only learned this because we asked. It was crowded and confusing and I really wish we would not have had to stalk people to get a table. Other than that, our experience was lovely. The food and drinks were awesome, and for opening week-this place ran like a well oiled machine. A few kinks to work out, but overall it's an awesome place. We look forward to returning, and hopefully this busy addition to downtown Shawnee will make it much less confusing for patrons. read more

This place has a really awesome atmosphere and it was really welcoming! I LOVE tacos and have been searching for California style and this was great! The downside is that there weren't warnings on how spicy things were going to be and that made it a bit more difficult for those of us who like spice but not OMG MY MOUTH IS ON FIRE. read more

My wife and I have been fans of Tiki Taco for at least 2 years now. We've frequented the Overland Park location for that long, but today we have a location a little closer to where we live in Shawnee. Had some Taco Tuesday tacos today: soft grilled shrimp; soft carne asada, and crunchy chicken. All great, as usual. Lots more outdoor dining space at this location; bar is smaller. I used to frequent Tiki at the original location and was excited when they decided to branch out to Shawnee. We visited the first week they were open. The service was absolutely excellent. The order takers and staff were super attentive and helpful! The food was good but didn't really blow us away. I was kind of surprised at how little chicken was on each taco. We had chicken street tacos, a mushroom taco and the Thai chicken taco. Again, barely any filling. I eat tacos out sometimes 3 times a week so I do feel I know what to expect an average taco or smaller street taco to look like. The food was good enough to come back for. I feel bad, though, that they did not design the entry way better. It is actually kind of a disaster if there are more than two people in line. It's a shame that wasn't thought out better. People were getting grumpy. It's also too bad that they bricked up the patio. It's not great ambiance outdoors which is too bad. Because they have only been open 2 days at this location I will definitely come back and give them another chance. We are happy to have more food options in Shawnee! read more

Pros - in my first visit I tried the Thai & Korean BBQ tacos. Both were delicious -- so I'm really torn between wanting to go back to order them again, or trying something new (assuming they are an indication that everything is that good). Key take away, though, I definitely want to go back, and soon. Staff was also super friendly. Cons - (yes, even with my 5-star review I have a couple comments.) Luckily I went at 2pm, but otherwise I'd definitely park across the street instead of in their little lot. I don't hold that against them, though, since I'm glad to have them in downtown Shawnee. My other suggestion would be for them to sell the Thai & Korean BBQ in 2 spice levels--I LOVED the flavor, but the kick is more than some of my family/friends can handle so it makes me sad that I couldn't recommend those yummy tacos to them--they are really missing out :( Like I mentioned, it was my first time, so not sure if those always have a healthy kick, or if the specific jalapeño used in that batch packed more punch. I liked them (A LOT), but definitely would not have wanted any more heat, for fear it would take away from the amazing flavor. read more

We came the first day it opened. It was absolutely AMAZING. My wife ordered the Carnitas bowl. I had the drippy birria (corn tortilla) mushroom and Avacado Tacos. Three was a good amount for lunch. Smallest most overpriced portion I've ever experienced in my life. And I'm a really fair person. I left hungry and disappointed. Each taco was 2-3 bites.
