I would give 0 stars if I could. Second time that I have ever said that. When you look at all the reviews (aside from yelp) you will notice that everyone negatively reviews their customer service. They all speak the truth. Awfully rude and nasty is the best way I can describe them. We were "greeted" by a woman. We informed her that we were looking for a dress for my mother as I was getting married next year. "What are you looking for?" The lady already had a nasty expression on her face. We ignored it and replied, "We aren't sure as we have just started browsing." Without writing our whole conversation in detail, it basically consisted of the lady being rudely persistent about finding out our style... Which she ultimately was trying to ask what our budget was. We did not have one, and she gave an attitude about that, stating, "well I don't want to pull a $2,000 dress and that not be your budget." The whole time, just had a nasty, unwelcoming look and tone of voice... Like we were inconveniencing her. Not for nothing, their selections isn't that great and we did not see any thousands of dollars types of dresses so I don't know why she made that comment. One star is an overstatement. This place is awful. The staff was extremely rude, and one of the workers wasn't wearing a mask. When I had arrived at the store, an older lady came up to me and as she was saying hello, looked me up and down. I could tell I was being judged from the moment I walked in. I was planning on buying multiple dresses today, but took my business elsewhere, as their dresses were so over priced, and I found multiple dresses that looked the same for hundreds of dollars cheaper. Dream Dresses should highly consider changing their name to something more suitable. Not only was my experience less than dream-like, it was a down right nightmare. After picking up a dress I had been forced to pay for in full 6 months ago (not a good sign) I quickly noticed how awfully wrinkled the garment was, the sales lady looked embarrassed handing it to me. I said nothing, knowing that was an easy fix, and headed home. It was then that I realized the ruching over the bodice was falling apart. I had immediately called the store and was accused of "Playing" with the thread as if I was a feline or a small child. I was then told return to the store to see if there was anyway they could possibly fix the $200 mess of a dress. When I returned to this awful establishment I was met with coldness and skepticism. Not even an apology for the great inconvience of driving over a hour to get there. I was instructed to wait in the front while the seamstress sewed in two stitches. The correction to the dress is passable, but honestly, not that great. I understand mistakes are made and held no one responsible for the fault in the garment, although the customer service I had recieved was shameful. I specifically dealt with a woman by the name of Angie who seems to be suffering from a lack of people skills and appreciation for her customers hard earned money. Terrible customer service. The woman who is the "manager" of the store is extremely nasty and abrasive. When we took my sister to buy her dress, the young girl who helped us was more than helpful, but once her manager came over she rushed us. Then, my sister (who is larger and self conscious) was debating on whether to get a certain dress that was low cut. The woman was forcing the dress on her, no surprise considering the price tag. Then, when it came time for the dress fitting the entirely wrong dress was ordered. When called out on her mistake, I was screamed at and told I was the problem in the situation. Additionally, we paid 600 (for the wrong dress) and was not even given a dress bag to put the dress in??? Like are you kidding me. Alterations are extra on top of the price of the dress as well. Spend your money and go to a better store if you want quality service and not have your entire prom/ formal event experience terrible! read more

Stressful setting! Staff were not friendly and rude to family with me. No seating for guests by the dressing rooms, was told to go sit in front of the store! No photos were allowed. Dresses chosen for me were not color, style or age appropriate. What a waste of time! The other dress stores I went to are the complete opposite of this one in every aspect. Bought a gown here for my daughter's February 2020 wedding. My saleswoman was Debbie over two or three meetings she showed me different dresses. I thought I wanted a trumpet she showed me a beautiful Ivonne D A line. Debbie was very kind and helpful and she knew right away what styles would flatter my figure. She also suggested I use their seamstress Aiela for the alterations. Aiela is a genius she designed straps from the leftover dress material and redesigned the matching shawl, she is truly a "fashion artiste". I would recommend Dream Dresses to any Mother of the Bride or Groom. read more

Such a wonderful store. The selection is terrific, the staff are more than helpful. The ONLY reason I gave four stars instead of five is that there is a wait for a dressing room. That's the only negative I can think of for Dream Dresses. My daughter has two proms Jr and Sr and could not have found a more fabulous place to shop. I went to Dream Dresses looking for a cocktail dress for my engagement party. The staff was very attentive greeting us at the door and immediately seeking out information on what I was shopping for/looking for styles I liked and disliked as well as my budget. Initially when shopping, I wanted to avoid white as it is a winter event, but the staff persuaded me to try on my very first white dress and needless to say my mom and I loved it! They made me feel like a true bride-to-be! Throughout the entire process the staff was super accommodating and willing to work with us. Ultimately, I bought the most beautiful dress for the affair while accommodating my budget,and cannot wait to wear it! I would recommend anyone who is looking for a cocktail dress for a special occasion, formal gown, mother of the bride, etc. to come here! You can't judge a book by its cover! They truly were fantastic. This is the 3rd experience here as we have previously looked for and bought formal gowns for prom. Needless to say we will be going back for future events. read more

I had shopped online and in numerous stores for months looking for the perfect mother of the bride dress for my daughter's wedding. A friend told me about Dream Dresses and we were pleasantly surprised by their service and helpfulness when we arrived at their shop. Angie and the staff found the perfect gown for my daughters venue. The alterations were done at their store by Monika who magically customized the gown to fit me perfectly. I went shopping for a prom dress with my daughter. I'm a guy so they basically ignored me. We found a few dresses and stood by the dressing room area while the employees kept walking by us. Finally I asked one where my daughter needs to go to try the dresses on. She realized I was there and was very helpful at that point. She asked another worker to help me while she assisted my daughter but that worker suddenly became overwhelmed by the sight of a baby and disappeared in her own world, ignoring me again. The girl who was helping my daughter was great. The rest of those useless judgmental "ladies", not so much. While waiting for my daughter to try on her third dress, some bitter angry old "woman" started screaming at me from the other end of the store, yelling that men arent allowed near the dressing area. I said I'm waiting for my daughter and she shouted I need to wait in the front by the entrance doors. I told her a guy was there longer than me and he wasnt told to leave the area. She said he had a young daughter and I said so do I. She yelled girls are nervous with me standing there, basically insulting me in front of a store full of people. I asked how can I see how my daughter looks and she said she can walk through the store where I can look at her. I asked how can I help her pick out more dresses and she said someone will walk with me. Really?? I'm gonna be escorted around a dress store cuz you think Im making people uncomfortable?? Whos watching over my daughter while they refused to let me near her? My daughter came out having no clue where I was. Horrible staff and just garbage as human beings. read more

We came in w my sister to look for a wedding dress for a backyard wedding. The owner of the store, (I think she's a new owner) Galit, immediately greeted us with a smile and swept us off looking for a dress. We described what we were looking for and she listened attentively and wow does she know her inventory and styles! She had us in the dressing room immediately trying on dresses. She made my sister feel like a princess! There is a huge selection of gowns and dresses for proms, parties, etc. Any color, any style. Since ours was more of a bridal need we didn't end up w a dress but we will definitely be returning to this great store for other needs! read more

Had a really bad experience here last week. I walked in optimistic and cheery and had to look around to find the two salesladies who didn't seem interested in helping me at all. I'm 32 years old and they were pulling dresses for me that my grandmother would call frumpy. When I did ask about a dress that caught my eye, they just rudely said "that dress isn't for you". They wouldn't let me take any pictures of myself in the dresses and seemed to ignore me and leave me on my own. It seems their dresses are either very revealing, teenage looking prom dresses or matronly mother of the bride dresses. There was no in between. The store was also dated and looked dirty which I normally would overlook, but they had some nerve being so uppity when their carpet hasn't been vacuumed since 1998. read more

Stay away from this store! The owner is sweet as can be when she's selling, but after she screwed up our order 2 TIMES she refused to take responsibility blaming the designer- not her. When you own a store in retail- own your mistakes. To top it off she fought with us over refunding shipping. Worst shopping experience. There are many other choices out there- do not shop here!!! What an awful experience with Dream Dresses. The on site alternationist cancelled my second fitting, yelled at us on our rescheduled date (she gave us one option) and refused to complete the alternations by the date of our event. After begging her to finish the work for which we paid an extraordinary amount, she finished the job -- after I agreed to leave work the moment she called, and only then delivering a terrible product. The accent that she attached to my dress fell off half way through our event! Awful, stressful experience. It's not worth it - go someplace else. read more

Angie knows her dresses! After visiting several other local dress shops, I was lucky enough to meet the store manager at Dream Dresses and she helped me find the perfect mother of the groom dress. She knows her inventory - she knows that a dress in a magazine does not look the same on a person and a dress on a hanger can have a totally different look too. She was not at all pushy but made sure I explored outside the box. And guess what - you can actually look through the dresses at this shop! read more

I have never written a Yelp review, but I have never experienced such an uncomfortable and horrible experience with staff in awhile. I called this morning to see if there was an available time slot to try on prom dresses. The women on the phone I could tell was very annoyed already with me. When I got to the store I was not greeted in a polite manner like hello or how are you doing instead it was a rude "Um can I help you?" I proceeded to walk in and told them I was here for my 3pm appointment to try on my prom dresses. They look at me and go well where is your parent? I said no one mentioned to me over the phone that was needed, but if it was I would've brought my parent. They go well idk who you talked to, but they should've... I later found out it was one of these women who FAILED to mention this to me after accusing of not bringing in my parent after they "told me" to do so. Then there was a silence fir around 10 seconds and then one of them asks me where I am from(profiling me pretty much to see if I could afford it). After I responded the two old women looked at each other back and forth and then tell me they guess it's okay for me to MAYBE try on some. As my friend and I are looking around one of the women then came up to me and said I was only allowed to try on 3 dresses MAX. After that it was the last straw and I wanted to leave. From the first encounter I felt so uncomfortable and just judged by these two women who were supposed to be HELPING ME, but instead thought I was going to steal the dresses or couldn't afford them because of what I was wearing. I hope no one goes here or they replace these two women with nice young women who are eager to help and want to make your prom dream dress come to life. read more

I wanted to type this review to give those who are having a rough time like me shopping for gowns, a glimmer of hope! I went to purchase a formal gown for a dance I was attending. I am 33 years old and wanted something that showed my curves, but didnt show everything, so mermaid or something similar. I had been shopping for weeks looking for a gown. First thing I liked about this place was there was an assortment of gowns long and short. This was a joy to see as soon as I walked in considering most shops have a very small inventory and then your forced to possibly order a dress from a catalog and hope you love it when it comes in. The only bad part is they only have one dress per style. So this means if your dress is there but your size isn't you will have to order it. Please keep this in mind because ordering a gown will take 2-3 weeks minimum. However, there was an assortment, so I was able to see a lot more then the average shops I visited. Overall my shopping experience and the overall service was great. There was only one lady there and she was taking care of a large group who was shopping for dresses for a wedding. Although I had to wait for her to assist me, she constantly checked up on me and helped me when she could. I had no complaints. In fact she was quite energetic and her energy motivated me to become more optimistic. I got really lucky because I found a gown that needed NO alterations. Again, I got lucky! It fit like a charm! I was ready for the red carpet. I would recommend this shop for any formal event for all ages and sizes. read more

Never again.... Dream Dresses has a large assortment of dresses, but the owner is rude, self-serving and discourteous. If you have concern about a dress you purchased from Dream Dresses such as fit etc, as punishment they will send you packing down to Antionette's in Matawan for the alterations while claiming they need to keep open alteration slots for their MORE important customers like Bridesmaids and Mother of the Brides. Even after you spend $500 on a dress and sent four other referrals to their store. I know this to be true because one of the referrals had her dress altered at Dream Dresses AFTER I bought my dress, so they couldn't be that booked for alterations. Such a wonderful place! This was the first place we went for my daughter's 8th grade prom and after going to three places ended up back here. The staff was so helpful to us! They had a great selection of dresses. The place doesn't look like much from the outside but what you find inside is well worth the stop. My daughter was not easy to please and we were so happy with our experience there. We had gone to a few other places in the area as well. One was very well known and we waited over an hour just to get in and what we found did not compare to Dream Dresses . Definitely make the stop! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Two years ago, I took my daughter, who was a sophomore at the time, there for a gown for her boyfriend's senior prom. The workers were far from pleasant. It felt as though our presence was an inconvenience to them. First of all, we were not greeted with kind, helpful words. Rather, we were right away asked what our budget was. My daughter picked 2 dresses to try, and the lady pulled a couple more as well. After finally getting a chance to try on, (I'll get to that later), my daughter hadn't found the dress that really wowed her. We told the lady that none of them really struck my daughter as "the one", and she told us that with a budget of so-and-so that we had given her, there wasn't much of a range, and that it would be difficult to find a stunning gown. Talk about rude and degrading! Onto the fitting room situation, I think there were about five dressing rooms in the back, and only three of them were in use, the other two were just filled with dresses! So of course in the heat of prom season, we had to wait at least an hour to even begin trying on. Once my daughter did finally get a chance to, she felt very rushed. Finally, they don't allow pictures to be taken in the gowns. It's almost understandable, but my daughter was torn between two gowns and wanted to send pictures and ask the opinions of her friends before deciding to spend a couple hundred dollars on a gown, and she was not allowed to. This year, my daughter and a friend of hers wanted to get a head start on looking for gowns for their senior prom, so they drove over to Dream Dresses. The first thing they were greeted with was, "You cannot try any dresses on without a parent or guardian present." That is an absurd rule and who is to say that my eighteen year old adult needs a parent present to try on or even purchase a gown! So the two of them drove down route 9 and found two other dress stores, Lola's and Whispers, who were extremely kind and let them try on without feeling pressured. I'm almost happy that they denied my daughter, because they do NOT deserve our business. All in all, we have had horrible experiences with Dream Dresses, and I would NEVER recommend OR return back. read more

Just purchased the dress for my son's wedding. Went twice, dealt with 4 different saleswomen - good experience with all of them, but Debbie really went the whole nine yards and gave the personal service you expect in a store like this. I read some of the negative reviews and disagree with them completely - the ladies all worked within my budget (why try on dresses you can't afford?), my style and color preferences, and offered honest and helpful insight. Loved their selection (preferred to some of the bigger stores) - went because of good recommendations made by 2 friends. I was at the mid-low budget but was completely satisfied with amount to choose from and the treatment I received. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that I was not jiving well with the woman who does alterations and am opting to go elsewhere for alterations. read more

I usually hate dress shopping but this store is so welcoming! The staff is very friendly and not pushy like other dress stores! I went on a busy day but was helped within 30 minutes of waiting. Loved my experience here and will come back every time I need a new dress! The dresses are beautiful and can usually have your dress shipped within a week if you can't find it on their floor. The owner is very friendly and willing to give you the best deal on the dress of your dreams! I also recommend using the alteration service. The store has strict policies and may not be well received by all and I feel their preferred customer is adults not teens. I bought my daughter to shop for prom dresses mid-week, late afternoon to avoid crowds and waiting. We were told to pick 5 dresses, as we approached the fitting room we were told to wait. After 15 minutes it was clear that the associates only work one-on-one. This should have been explained as we became a bit frustrated seeing vacant fitting rooms and two associates talking to the two women they were assisting (but no longer trying on dresses). While waiting I saw a 6th dress, after another 15 minutes an associate became available and was a bit rude about exceeding the 5 dress limit. My daughter is a bit reserved and does not like strangers touching her, so it was an undesirable experience for her when the associate insisted she will assist, because if I do it and ruin the dress I just bought it!! read more
