Everything was absolutely delicious -some of the best cannolis I've had in Philadelphia! I felt like I was in Europe. However, I was in town today, and thought I would see what this new Queen Village bakery was all about! The bakery, started by a couple, Zach and Paige Wernick, who had extensive baking experience, opened a few months ago. They were both there when I visited. I arrived at 10 on a Friday and they had sold out of several items I was hoping to try (Challah and Cardamom Bun). However, I made the best of the remaining pastries, and tried what was left. I started with the Chocolate Babka - as it has already made a 'reputation' for itself. (When I left the store, I went around the corner to Spread Bagels. The bagel baker's eyes lit up when he saw the babka! He knew it was from Rougarou and said "It's the best!"). I bought a whole babka as opposed to a slice. I'm very selective about my babkas. I like many different 'varieties' - the biggest difference I see among babkas is the layering of chocolate. Some babkas are a 'traditional' version with a moderate layering of chocolate - others, have several layers of chocolate making it denser. Rougarou has a thicker layering - which I believe is the more popular version. The inside had a nice texture, was beautifully marbled, very chocolaty, and I tasted cinnamon! I was surprised as I'd had many cinnamon babkas, but never a chocolate babka with cinnamon! It was braided into the moist loaf, and was an excellent addition. It was a delicious babka! I also got the Coffee Cake; it had been sometime since I had a slice of coffee cake at a bakery. This 'cake' was in the shape of a circle and powdered with sugar. It was a fluffy and tender, and with the crunchy top, was the perfect coffee cake! I could easily have eaten another one. Next up was the Ginger cookie. I have a fondness for these cookies as I love Ginger - especially with sushi! I took a bite into the chewy cookie and immediately tasted the sugar sparkling crust, and then the chewy interior, with just the right amount of spice! There's something special about the 'tang' of ginger in a cookie! Last, but definitely not the least, was the Butter croissant! It was one of the best croissants I've had. It was deeply golden and as flaky as can be on the outside. The inside was so light and airy - you could taste the richness of the butter. I tasted a 'saltiness' in the croissant thinking they may use 'salted butter'. I noted online the bakery uses sea salt in some of their pastries to balance the richness of the butter. It added a savory taste in a way....and while I think I prefer the pastry without the salt, I was intrigued. I was having eggs at the time, and cut the croissant in half and put the egg inside. It was epic! The light taste of the salt made for the best 'breakfast sandwich' I've had in a long time! I will definitely order again-it's unique! While reading about the bakery, there was a note to arrive as early as possible! I'll be sure to be there next time when it opens!! It's a real jewel in Queen Village!

FOOD I visited with a couple friends and tried a range of…read morepastries-- the double chocolate croissant, kouign amann, orange cardamom morning bun, and rhubarb danish. -Double chocolate pain au chocolat: Not too sweet but a bit too flaky and lacked flavor (not enough chocolate taste to shine through) -Kouign amann: My favorite pastry but unfortunately also a bit too dry and lacking in flavor. It was more of a croissant than the buttery pastry I associate kouign amanns with -Orange cardamom morning bun: My favorite of the pastries! Light, airy, and just the right touch of sweetness -Rhubarb danish: Very unique but not for me. The rhubarb was very tangy and a bit tough to chew. The texture was an interesting contrast to the flakiness of the rest of the pastry and the smoothness of the cream Unfortunately, I set my expectations a bit too high and the items I tried unfortunately fell short. SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly! The line can get quite long, but the staff are really efficient and moving the line along. AMBIANCE Located in the Bok Building, there's ample seating in the general seating area right by and behind the storefront. The space is shared with other guests visiting Two Persons Coffee and the stores in Bok. I saw some people working/studying, but it can get quite busy/loud. PARKING Paid street parking is available at a limited capacity. Most people park in neighboring streets or take the bus. BATHROOMS Bathrooms are located throughout the building.

The service is nice, and the space is light filled, not too large, but enough seatings. Even if there are no seats inside the bakery you can most likely find seatings in the hallway area. My family and I enjoyed all their pastries, and I really like the fact that these aren't super sweet. Some of their pastries are so pretty also. Cannot wait to go back and try other items!

Iced coffee is more than solid and the sausage egg and cheese hand-pie was phenomenal and really hit the spot without overdoing it. Also, the woman at the window was very sweet and comes across as authentic -- and didn't skimp on the napkins when I asked for a few extra (I'm not *that* messy, but like to keep things tidy ). Great spot I'll look forward to returning to. Excited to try some of their other pies!

Honestly the perfect amount for 2 people to share. The savory pies were all good...but not quite a 5/5. I felt they were a little small for the price and could have been more filled. But the taste was good! The potato and cheese had a hint of rosemary which was delicious. The sweet pies on the other hand were 5/5. Particularly the blueberry lemon. The pie was sweet and perfectly tart. This place was great for a snack and I'd definitely come by again since it's close to home but not necessarily a place I'd go out of my way for.

one of my favorite coffee shops in the area!…read more i was here on opening day when they were giving out free drinks & snacks -- ever since then, this cute french-themed cafe has been a staple on my coffee rotation. i absolutely love how gorgeous the decor is in here, everything is so pink & girly! sparks a lot of joy. i am also a big fan of the coffee here. my go-to drink is the rose latte which is delicious and light. i recently tried their signature drink specials with my boyfriend, and i really enjoyed the strawberry naoki. not cheap, but beautiful and delicious. the staff here are also incredible. everyone is so sweet and attentive, you can tell a lot of care goes into their drinks!

There are a few window bar seats and one outdoor table, but it's otherwise more of a to-go type place. Clean restroom. Street parking. Mild noise level. Can get cramped when busy. As their name suggests, they offer a wide selection of macarons, all of which look delicious. They also have various sweet and savory pastries, coffees, teas, and lemonades. I've only had their hot tea, so I can't speak on the other drinks; I do appreciate the variety and uniqueness of the tea flavors offered as those aren't usually highlighted much. The pastries are flaky, delicious, and filling - definitely recommend the feta spinach croissant. Prices are fair. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!
