My husband's favorite dessert is strawberry shortcake so while in Philly we stopped at Paris Baguette to purchase two slices. We walked in and the set up was really nice with seating to the right, displays of the different desserts to the left. We were greeted by two really nice women. The cakes were to go so they were packaged nicely and placed in a cute bag. The cake- it was a few hours before we actually ate it but when I put the first forkful in my mouth, I could hear angels singing. It was so moist, literally melting in my mouth. The strawberries were sweet and the whipped topping was simply the best. Needless to say, I could have eaten my slice and my husband's. I had an intense craving for a mochi donut on Friday so I went to Paris Baguette to honor said craving. Dubai chocolate is super popular right now so I grabbed a Dubai chocolate mochi donut and a pistachio mochi donut for later. In my opinion, the Dubai chocolate donut was way better. It tasted just like the chocolate bar. Pistachio could've used a little more flavor. I tasted this one when I got home and it held up in 95 degree heat. Both were very soft and chewy. The employees at Paris Baguette are super helpful and nice, while also being efficient. Three people at the registers helped the line move quickly. While I love Paris Baguette, it isn't a coffee shop/bakery I would visit everyday because the prices are a little higher than average. For that once in a while craving, though, it's the perfect place to drop in and try a variety of items. read more

I've been to other Paris Baguette. I like the different types of desserts but there was only one thing that caught my eye, which was the tart. I enjoyed my tart and americano. It was packaged very well with a nice box, secured onto the box with a small stake hidden inside, and a gift bag. The cake itself was very moist and soft - lots of cream. The cream was not too sweet which let the mango and berries' natural sweetness come through. I would have preferred more and riper mango slices, but given that mango wasn't in season, it's understandable. The cake felt very light and I didn't feel gross after eating it. Been to this Paris Baguette multiple times... so I contributed to their business countless times. One time they overcharged me (scanned twice for one bread), I figured I'll let that go but during this visit... This visit, it was 90 F degrees outside and quite hot for a pregnant lady. I went in because they were one of the few beverage shops open before 11am. I requested an ice cold water but just forgotten my re-usable water bottle this time (pregnancy brain), oops haha. However the lady at the counter said water would cost $1... even with being pregnant. She said that she understood me being pregnant but said water is only free with a pastry purchase even so. I wasn't in the mood for a pastry this time. There's someone who prioritizes short-term profit over long-term customers. As a regular, I'll think twice about visiting this Paris Baguette again. I wonder if they were also going to make sure I bought pastries before using the bathroom. And I would like to add, that it's only this Paris Baguette that does so. My first experience with Paris Baguette was in Seoul. When I realized that Philly had a Paris Baguette as well, we just had to check them out. There's no outdoor dining. But, they had a good amount of indoor seating available towards the back. We came here to pick up a few pastries to try. They had rows and rows of pastries to try, and we only had so much stomach real estate. My sis picked the cinnamon apple creme croissant and I picked the curry croquette. The croquette was ok. It didn't have very much curry filling, and it was kind of sweet. On the other hand, the croissant was the bomb. The apple chips on top of the croissant were slightly crispy, the apple cream custard filling was brimming with apple flavor and a warm touch of cinnamon/other spices, and the croissant itself was flaky. It was quite a rich pastry. So, I was glad my sis and I shared this. They had so many other pastries, cakes, and drinks that we didn't even try yet. Service was quick. They do accept Apple Pay as well. So, come and check them out to find your favorite baked item or drink. PS - Apparently, there's also a Paris Baguette in Houston. While wandering Chinatown, we saw the sign for this place and bookmarked it to return to after lunch and after having walked off at least 15 calories (coz that's how we roll). Grab a tray and a tong, then wander up and down both rows of showcased pastries and cakes to decide what you want. DO NOT USE YOUR BARE HANDS TO PICK THINGS UP, YOU HEATHENS. Then head to the cashier and bemoan the fact that you have approximately 3,476 calories on your tray, so you order a cup of iced water to negate the calories. Hahahaha. The taste of their cakes are always great, but I would not recommend putting a special order cake. I put in an order for a Mother's Day cake to be picked up on Mother's Day, but when I came to get the cake, it just looked like a regular cake. I asked why it was missing the Mother's Day element, which is why I ordered the cake. This is when they said "oh we're out but we can put a cookie on it." But I wish they contacted me to let me know ahead of time, because instead of spending $54 for a "Mom's Blueberry Chiffon Cake", I could have just picked up a regular cake for $38, because that's what I ended up getting. I could have put that same cookie on a regular cake, but I ordered the Mother's Day cake for a reason, because it looked like an elegant specialized cake. Even then, I was the one who had to ask why the Mother's Day portion was missing on the Mother's Day cake. And if I didn't notice that it was missing, I could have driven all the way to my mom's house to realize that it was just a plain cake. I'm not usually critical about these things, but it's stressful knowing that they knew it was a specialized cake but didn't even bother letting me know what was missing. And I know my mom is going to be disappointed because to her, it'll just look like a random cake. Avoid that stress, don't order specialty cakes here. Paris Baguette of Arch street is my favorite bakery in Philly. It is located between 9th and 10th of Arch street. As I enter, I immediately noticed their huge glass display of goods. Is definitely very different than the traditional bakeries in Chinatown. Paris Baguette offerings of goods are also very vast. Traditional bakeries in Chinatown normally offers vita drinks, soymilk, egg tart, black forest cake etc.... On the other hand, PB offers different tiramisu goods, Matcha goods, puddings, organic drinks, sandwiches etc...... Paris Baguette is definitely more modern and definitely hit the spot for many younger generations. I would really buy one of everything just to try them out but Paris Baguette is really really pricey. For example, I bought one crab salad roll and a cream cake today, my total were $10.21. $10 can get me at least half a dozen cake from traditional bakeries in Chinatown. read more

Wow, China Town Philly is evolving into Asia Town or Asian Fusion Town! An example of this is the addition on the new Paris Baguette store on Arch Street. The Paris Baguette bakery chain was founded in 1988 by the Korean businessman Hur Young-in, head of the food and confectionary group SPC. It has 3,250 boulangerie à la française outlets in South Korea and bakeries in America, Singapore, Vietnam and China. Who knew? Not me. The space is long and narrow and fairly large, especially by China Town standards. They have a wall of baked goods and another wall of refrigerated desserts, including whole cakes. They also have wifi and coffee, tea, frappes and sparklers. There were college kids hanging out on their Mac Book Pros. We saw mostly baked goods and desserts marketed towards a Western palate. I don't know what I expected with a name like Paris Baguette, but I thought they might have some more Asian or Korean inspired items. The items they did have on dispaly looked great. We bought this blueberry chiffon cake that was excellent, light, fluffy and not overly sweet. We definitely liked Paris Baguette and we will be back. It is larger, less cramped and less expensive then A La Mouse but I think A La Mouse is a little better and cooler. 4 Yelp stars with great potential. read more

Paris Baguette has finally arrived in Chinatown! Similar to the NYC locations, they have ample seating and a complete drinks menu. They have a wall of baked goods and another wall of refrigerated desserts, including whole cakes. Also, they have wifi. I was disappointed in that the baked goods seemed more geared towards the western palate (lots of croissants and other flaky pastries), but maybe they will add more items over time. I am hoping this becomes a place where I can grab boxed Asian desserts and cakes for gifts and Lunar New Year. I purchased the moist cheese cake and found it to be moist but too light in taste.
