One star is being overly generous. My experience here was awful. Most consultants listen to the bride and will make recommendations accordingly or will suggest things to flatter her. The woman here FORCED me to try on dresses I made very clear I had already tried and DID not like, whether it was shape or fabric. You go into the "fitting room" which is basically a curtain facing a wall of mirrors. If anyone were to walk into the room with bridal gowns, they completely see EVERYTHING. I felt like I was trying on dresses in a trailer park. As a bride, you also expect a little bit more attention...this did not happen. The owner had me so rushed and flustered I gladly left with my mother and have NO intentions of ever stepping foot in there again...even if she is GIVING dresses away. The selection wasn't anything that I had expected and I do NOT appreciate people being rude especially when it's planning your big day! read more

I ordered my dress and bridesmaids dress at this place in August. I've been calling for months to try to get my niece in to get measured for her dress to no avail. No one returns voicemails. When my sister in law stopped there to see if she could get it done, they were closed with a sign posted that they changed their hours to only Thursday-Saturday. She went by yesterday, Thursday, to find it closed when they were supposed to be opened. I honestly don't even want the dresses from them but we paid in full already. Hoping we can even get our hands on the dresses. Their customer service is non existent and I will be taking it else where for alterations, if I even get the dress. This is crazy. read more

Possibly THE worst wedding dress shopping experience. Despite the fact that I was only one of two customers trying on dresses in the store, the owner was incapable of dividing and giving quality attention to both parties. Meaning she ignored me 95% of the time and had another employee trail after me (who felt compelled to keep a running commentary on everything I tried on). The owner also had this nasty habit of leaving the door open while I was changing, so the people with the other party were able to catch frequent glimpses of me half naked. Super unpleasant. A bit of the boning at the top of one of the dresses I had tried on was jutting out. As the employee kept trying to shove me into the dress faster than I was willing to shimmy into it, the boning cut me in the arm. I pointed this out to the employee, who simply acknowledged that it had indeed cut my arm, and kept yanking at the dress. Every other dress shop I've been to, whether shopping for a wedding dress for myself or for others, has encouraged the customer and/or their guests to take pictures AND provided info about the dress. This owner was not having any of that! You are not allowed to take any pictures in the shop because... well, you might actually find a better deal elsewhere. Furthermore, she will flat out refuse to give you information about your dress, claiming how they (the shop) identify the style of the dress is different and it would be such a tedious chore for them to look up the actual style. However, she welcomed me to come back and try things on again and make a purchase with them. Umm, no. For a shop that acts this prissy, they have an extremely limited stock in styles and sizes. I had a better experience at David's Bridal than here. I traveled 2 hours to get to this place hoping for a wonderful experience and what an utter disappointment. I was really looking forward to trying on several Stella York dresses I had seen online which is why I disregarded some the poor reviews. I should've listened & avoided this place. When I arrived here, I parked on the street and had to pay a meter. I walk in and was greeted by no one. The store owner was busy attending to another client which I totally understood. The store owner was so pleasant to the client she was with at the moment. It must be because the client was there to pay off the balance of her daughter's expensive dress. After about 10 minutes, the store owner finally acknowledges my presence and tells me to sit on the couch and fill out a clipboard. Like a previous reviewer wrote, it asked for standard info such as your wedding date, budget, location, etc. While I waited, I stared at my surroundings. The store is indeed small and cramped. A few minutes later the store owner comes to collect the clipboard from me. She reads over the clipboard and asks me again what is my budget but with an attitude. I tell her I would like to keep it under $1,000. I'm a bride-to-be on a budget. She looked at me like I had two heads and said with an attitude, "Our dresses start at $2,000." Then, she just stares at me. I didn't know what to say or do because I wasn't expecting the starting price to be that high. When I made the appointment over the phone, I was never asked nor told anything about a price range. Their website doesn't list a price range either. At least, Kleinfeld's tells you upfront on their website what is their starting price. What was I supposed to do? Get up and leave after I spent 2 hours driving to get to the damn place and spent money on gas, tolls, and parking. Anyways, so I looked at my mom to figure out what to do. I didn't want to leave without at least trying something on. So the owner decided to entertain us. She calls over one of her floor attendants to assist me. The owner then tells me to follow her and shows me two racks that I can look through. She tells me that I can't look anywhere else. She says I can pick any of the dresses on the rack and take it as it is for the price on the tag. Basically she pointed out her sale rack full of worn down sample dresses. She then leaves and I'm left there with my mom and sister to pull out dresses. I found a few to try on and the floor attendant also helped me out. The fitting room is literally a space in the back of the store with a curtain. Anyone walking by could probably see me changing. I was very uneasy about the fitting room situation. The floor attendant was sweet and helpful compared to the store owner. She really did try to make the appointment worthwhile. She said that if I found a dress there to go someplace else to get it altered because they overcharge for alterations. I saw the price range for alterations and she was totally right. I think I tried on maybe 5 dresses. I think I was on dress number 3 when the store owner comes around to the "fitting room" area. She asks the attendant in such a condescending tone if I was almost done and that she needed me out of there in 10-15 minutes because she has another client coming in. I think only 30 minutes had passed since I arrived. Then the owner was trying to make the attendant put back the dresses I had already tried on as I was mid-dressed. The store owner leaves and I'm on the last dress when I disclose to the floor attendant I was really looking forward to trying a Stella York dress. She found one that wasn't too over my budget. I had just finished putting on the dress on when the store owner walks by and yells "WHY IS SHE IN THAT DRESS?! That dress isn't in her price range!" I wanted to yell back at the store owner, "Just because I'm Latina and said I wanted a dress under $1,000 doesn't mean I don't have the funds to spend more on a dress." I should've yelled back but I didn't. I was so disgusted by the whole experience. Oh yea by the way, did I mention she got her Latina floor attendant to assist me during my appointment. I totally didn't mind. I love that I could communicate my needs in English and Spanish. I did mind the nasty manner in which she talked to me and the floor attendant. The store owner sure didn't talk to her other floor attendant the way to she talked to my floor attendant. It's crazy how different I was treated because I was a Latina on a budget compared to the client the store manager was attending to when I first walked in. I have never felt so discriminated the way I was at this establishment. If I would've feel in love with a dress there that was $2,000, I would've gotten it. Just because I said I want a dress under $1,000 doesn't mean I'm a poor Latina. It just means I much rather spend my money on something else worthwhile like my honeymoon. read more

One star to the shop, minus one to the owner, Janet, who ordered my dress as short instead of long, never took responsibility for the error, and has such a curt, high-handed attitude that I could barely keep my composure. The shop is cramped, crowded and not at all an enjoyable place. She also billed me for alterations in spite of her screw-up. But 5 stars to her lovely and very talented streamstress who manage to add on to the dress making it the correct length. Do not shop here if you're hoping for a good experience. The shop is cramped and uncomfortable, there is no privacy and when going for a fitting you have to squeeze in with the seamstress - there's certainly no place for a friend to sit comfortably. I am writing this under my fiance's account :) I had a morning appointment with Rachel. When we entered, I was given a clipboard and filled out the standard info on date, budget, location, etc. Rachel asked me the style that I'm looking for and with that we started walking throughout the store. The store is very cramped. There isn't a space to hang coats and she didn't offer for us to put out belongings down in the fitting room before starting. We pulled dresses and then went into this make-shift fitting room to try on dresses. The fitting room was a room split in half with two sheets hanging to divide the space. One half is for changing and one half is for friends/family to gather. There was a lot of commotion coming from a back room which I think is for bridesmaid dresses. But other than that, the store was not busy. Once we had selected my favorite dress, we had a few questions about alterations, which Rachel wasn't able to answer so the owner stepped in. The owner was very curt with us, in a no-nonsense way. But, it came across like we were an inconvenience to her and it rubbed me the wrong way. It's a local, small shop, and you're not paying for the frills of a nice, new interior. All in all, I was really disappointed in the service, which didn't give me comfort with them handling the ordering and alterations of my dress. I can look past the aesthetics, but can't look past disappointing service. I got a post card about 1.5 weeks after my appointment, hand written from Rachel, thanking me for visiting Dressed to the Nines and inviting me to a trunk show they were having in the upcoming weeks. They also offered me a discount if I came back within 2 weeks of the date on the postcard. Note: You are not allowed to take any pictures! I went there to have my seven bridesmaids try on dresses for my wedding. When I called to make the appointment, they were rude but I thought it might be a bad day. When I entered the store, every person had an attitude and acted like they hated their job. No one helped or answered our questions, and when they put us into a room, they told us we had one hour and slammed the door. When my girls were trying on their dresses, one of the woman walked in on her while she was changing! It was a horrid experience and I definitely would not go there to buy anything. I live in the city but came to look for dresses in morristown because my mother lives there. I didn't expect to find a dress at the shop because I had been looking at dresses in much larger shops in the city. But I was wrong! I found my wedding dress, my mother of the bride dress, and my flower girl dress all here at the shop. The seamstress is amazing. She did a great job with my dress and my moms dress. They even altered two of my bridesmaids dresses there even though we purchased them somewhere else. Janet is very personable and takes time to know her brides. I went looking with my 4 bridesmaids for dresses that were short, black, and under $200. My ladies are amazing in that they can pick dresses in less than an hour, tops. After they picked out Priscilla of Boston dresses (in 40 minutes) and then it went out of business, we were stuck dress shopping again. This bridal salon has a back room for bridesmaids that you get to yourself for an hour. The front part of the store has bridal dresses and some other dressing rooms. When we arrived, we were taken into the back room, told the instructions, and left on our own to try on any dresses. There was one dressing room with only a curtain, but my girls were, fortunately, comfortable enough to try on dresses and pass them along to the next all in the same room. Once again, they all settled on a dress in less than 30 minutes. But it wasn't my maids that were the problem with this store - it was the service, unfortunately. All we wanted to do was get the ladies measured and pay. We were asked to wait (by the lovely college-aged assistant, who was busy running around between all of the other appointments as the owner or manager (the only other person working that day) was on the phone and running around as well. We waited... and waited... and after 45 minutes of waiting (longer than it took my girls to pick our their dresses!), and the owner was STILL on the phone, the assistant came back and attempted to measure us. It didn't seem as if she knew what she was doing, but I appreciated the effort. Finally, after an hour, the owner came in, with ANOTHER appointment, and said she would re-measure the maids un in the front of the store and was hurrying us to get out of the room. The owner had an intense personality and was slightly to moderately rude (mostly because she seemed overwhelmed and stressed out, but still - she had major attitude with us in answering our questions after she'd just kept us waiting for an hour to PAY for FOUR dresses). Needless to say, I will be going to pick up the dresses once they arrive (in about 16 weeks they said) and NOT doing alterations there. In fact, I will never step back in the store ever again. The only reason I give this place 2 stars is because they have a variety of brands of bridesmaids dresses at varying price levels - though if you want to try on a size 4 or 6, they literally have NONE available in the samples, which was a drawback for a couple of my ladies. Summary: great selection of dresses, but go there knowing you will do all of the work and you need to have patience. And try to just get measured, pay, and get the hell out. I'll write another review after the dresses arrive to see if they measured my girls correctly or not. read more

I was so happy to find a wonderful bridal boutique so close to home. I fell in love with one of the first dresses I tried on here. I know I had a one of kind wedding dress. I truly valued Janet's (owner) fashion opinion along the way. I was able to find all my accessories in one place as well..my tiara, shoes, veil. The seamstress, Guillermina is amazing. She added so much detail and other touches to my dress such as straps, buttons, another foot to the train and more fabric to give it the desired volume I had envisioned. I am so impressed with Dress to the Nines. I live in Morristown and wanted to get my bridal gown locally. This not only make fittings convenience, but I also like supporting our local small businesses. They carry a great selection of reasonably priced bridal gowns, bridesmaid, mother of the bride/groom, and flower girl dresses. I felt like my budget was reasonable but was given a selection of 5 gowns at other boutiques. At Dress to the Nines, I felt like I had a much better selection. I had my out of town family at my appointment and the owner and seamstress were very helpful even suggesting good color combinations for the bridesmaid dresses. The owner listen to exactly what I wanted and was so helpful in finding my perfect dress!! I can't wait to go back for my first fitting!! Highly recommended! read more

Unorganized, always pointing fingers at each other, things got lost, SAVE ALL YOUR OWN PAPERWORK if you feel lucky and use this place. My niece got married last year and I paid for the dress in FULL on the first visit. NOTHING but issues. The dress was not right when we finally picked it up, under the arms were not turned down and irritated her all night, back snaps not fixed, etc. Owner was fresh and impatient all the time. Hated to even call there. Do yourself a favor and go to Park Ave. Bridal in Verona, that's where I send everyone. Unbelievable. I didn't write this sooner until a friend asked for a referral today. Photographs forbidden, poor selection of bridesmaid dresses, no clips available to make the dresses fit. Most dissapointing, however, was the manner with which the owner talked to us. She shot down what we wanted to do and told us that the bride's desires for her bridesmaids were not okay. She also made the bride feel bad about her planning decisions outside of the dress process, speaking to her in a condescending manner. Worst of all was the fact that we wanted to look at bridesmaid dresses on our own and she forced other dresses on us, telling us what to do. Even her advice about the time line for buying a bridesmaid dress came off angry and confrontational. Janet, the owner of the boutique, is beyond knowledgeable and helpful. I just went for my second fitting this past Saturday, and thanks to her seamstress guru, my dress now fits like a glove. Atrocious is the best word to describe this place. The people working there made me and my bridesmaids feel uncomfortable and unwanted the whole time. I had an appointment and you would have thought that we walked in off the street and were interrupting everyone because that's exactly how we were treated. The workers shoved us into this back room with only one dressing room where other people were trying on dresses. Unlike other stores where the workers help you, clip the back of your dress, suggest colors, these ladies didn't assist us in any way. Again, we had an appointment, and I found this to be rude, univiting, and unhelpful. We finally asked to be move into another dressing room so we could actually try on some dresses and were told to go to the front mother of the bride dressing room. Halfway through, they came in and said "Get out. A mother of the bride is here and needs to get in." Once again, I had an APPOINTMENT, wasn't given a proper dressing room or any help and now was being forced to LEAVE. If you can get past being treated poorly by the staff, you should also consider that this place has an abysmally small selection of bridesmaid dresses that were drab and unfashionable. But let me just say that you should never ignore bad customer service reviews when it comes to things like this. When planning a wedding, there are so few experiences you get to have. Trying on your dress and doing bridesmaid shopping are memorable experiences, and you shouldn't risk having that soured by the people at Dressed to the Nines. My recommendation? Instead, go to Bijou Bridal in Paramus and Bella Bridesmaid in Madison. read more

I went with a friend to find a wedding dress. She chose this shop because they were supposed to carry the brand of dress she wanted. She was pretty sure about the style and had brought photos with her. The owner was dreadful. She didn't actually have any of the dresses they were supposed to have, she brought her strapless gowns when she specifically said she didn't want strapless and tried to explain that they'd add straps. The owner was rude, rushed and difficult. I had an awful experience here. I am from California but am getting married in New Jersey and wanted to purchase my dress here so that I didn't have to fly across the country with it. When I made the appointment the owner mispronounced my name nearly a dozen times, Yolanda, Yellohna, Yoleeeana, even after I corrected her with the right pronunciation each time, then proceeded to leave a couple of voicemails on my phone to confirm the appointment again with the wrong name. I realized that my name can be tricky and was nevertheless excited for my appointment. There was a specific Stella York dress that I was excited to try on and my future mother-in-law came with me, since she lives close by. However, my mother, who will be helping me purchase my dress, lives in California so I was counting on sending her a picture of me in the dress before purchasing. The woman helping me also pulled several dresses from what I consider to be a very unimpressive collection. Then I was finally able to try on the dress I came in for. I asked if I could take a picture to show my mother so I could get her approval before purchasing my dress. The sales woman said no, that they have had break ins due to people taking pictures inside. What? All of the designers they carry are listed on their website. I don't see how it is a surprise for anyone that this dress exists inside the store. When I asked again the woman said that maybe after I tried on some of the other dresses I could take a picture of me in the dress I came in for. We ended up chatting about potential alterations on that dress for nearly half an hour before I asked again if I could take the picture and was told no. The way both the owner and the sales woman approached my request as rude and condescending. They asked if I could video chat my mom, but she doesn't have a smart phone so I said no and they acted like they didn't believe me. The energy of this whole place was just cheap, disappointing, underwhelming and lacking the type of good customer service I've received at other bridal salons. read more

Not an extremely bad experience but not at all what I was expecting...I actually had a better experience at Davids Bridal in Totowa. The website was extremely misleading in so many ways! They market the shop as a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere but the owner was very curt and upfront and although I appreciate being told the truth it was almost to the point of being off-putting and negative. She seemed very stressed and frazzled the entire time even though the place wasn't busy! My consultant, Kristen, was great and very helpful! She really tried to make the appointment worth my while. However, the owner kept trying to pull her away with little office work and questions instead of letting her focus on my experience. The website says a secluded room for the bride and guests is offered with no wandering eyes which I was excited about, however, I got dressed in one from and had to walk to the secluded room through the waiting area! I was looking for an A line dress but most of the dresses (small selection) was fit and flare. The sizes were also very small so I didn't even fit in a few dresses! I'm a size 14 so not extremely overweight. The website says they have options for the budget conscious bride but that was also a lie! I told the owner I was looking for a budget of $1000 and she told me the dresses normally start at $1200, but sample sizes are around 30% off. I didn't see anything under $1,000 though. I left without anything and again it wasn't a terrible experience but it definitely didn't meet my already low expectations. read more

I thought I bought the dress of my dreams but after 12+ dress fittings and what felt like torture. My wedding gown was completely ruined 5 days before my wedding. They found a dress that fit me in the salon which proved that all the nonsense about my body being "different" with too large breasts and too little waist was just their incompetence. After all the tears and emotional stress the owner of the salon thought it was enough to give me a new dress and not reimburse me any money. So the bottom line is I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone because nobody should go through this craziness before their wedding. Spare yourself! read more

There was a great selection of dresses and we were able to walk through the store and touch the dresses and pull some of our own. This boutique is AWFUL! Purchased my wedding dress from here for my destination wedding, they got the date wrong and I ended up having to leave without my dress and have my family bring it with them! The owner is RUDE and treats people like she is above everyone else. She was on top of the seamstress putting in her two sense every 5 minutes and wouldn't let her do her job! The seamstress and young girl that work there are very sweet and it's a shame they have to deal with such a rotten person. Would not ever recommend this place!! read more

I had a great experience! I had been to about three other bridal shops, and I was very hesitant to try out Dressed to the Nines after reading some mixed reviews. I was really close to purchasing a dress at a different store, but my mom convinced me to try Dressed to the Nines. I ended up purchasing both my bridal gown and the bridesmaids' gowns-- so far I have had a great experience! The first time I went in was a bit cramped because the bridal room was being remodeled. Despite the difficulty, Kristen made it a great appointment. She really listened to what I liked about each dress, and she and Janet found a dress that combined everything I liked into one dress! I will say this- Janet is no-nonsense, and she will not hesitate to share her opinion. I can see where that comes off to other girls as nasty, but I didn't mind. I wanted something flowy, and she was really complimentary about what would look best on me, and helped find a dress that was flowy like I wanted annnnd super flattering. When I went back to give the dress and second try and purchase it, the seamstress I worked with was so sweet. She clipped and unclipped the dress about a dozen times so my friends could get good pictures. Janet was also great in working with me for the bridesmaids' dresses. Bottom line- if you want a super pampering Say Yes to the Dress type experience, this may not be the place for you. If you want great insight into gowns and really reasonable pricing- Dressed to the Nines is the way to go! read more

I went to Dressed to the Nines for a cocktail dress to wear to a Bat Mitzvah. I was very pleased with the selection in my size. The salesperson was attentive, but most helpful was Janet, the owner, who oversaw my selections and advised on the alterations. Since I shopped alone, I appreciated her honest input in which she told me what she thought did and did not look well on me.There was no pressure to purchase something I was ambivalent about. When I made my selection, she suggested shoes and accessories I could look for that would enhance the dress.Fitting appointments were on time, and Janet was so particular that she had the seamstress redo certain portions of her work till they met her exacting standards. I had many positive reactions to my dress when I wore it to the event I attended. Overall, I found the esperience of shopping at Dressed to the Nines a pleasurable experience and expect to return in the future. read more
