    Chicken Marsala
    Jay D.

Another very good visit to Drew's for my family. Of course, we had to go with the tried and true Chicken Parm, and a whole bunch of french onion soups. One of my favorite things about this place is that you can get a cup of french onion soup, as one of your sides, instead of having to purchase a full bowl. I also tried the chicken marsala this time, and it was pretty good. They cut the chicken up in pieces, which was new for me, but it was still good. Lots of sauce and mushrooms! I was pleased with it, and they let me get a side of pasta with the marsala sauce on it. We had great service, as well. My family and I will definitely return!

No bad seat in the house!

*Excellent food and atmosphere. *Prices are very good. It's cheaper if you use cash. *Far more than a pizza place. * Extensive menu with daily specials * Large horseshoe bar

Came here on a weekday for a business lunch with co-workers... The lady working the dining room was very friendly, helpful and attentive. They have an interesting menu here loaded with all the popular stuff you'd see at most local delis, including pizza. They have daily specials and soup of the day as well. On my visit, the soup was French onion and it was great! The Italian sub was really good too! Nicely sliced meats and the bread was heated up just right. Their cole slaw is also perfectly done, exactly how I like it! Me not being from around here, I'm not used to these restaurants (mostly in neighborhoods) that are lounges as well and have huge rooms... they just seem very odd to me, but from a restaurant perspective, they have what's needed - Very Good Eats!

It's a nice enough setting, though we appeared to be the sole diners at 5:30pm on a Wednesday evening. The menu consists of mainly small bites (appetizers/tapas) and some entrees. We elected to go with the small bites to share and ordered the hummus, bruschetta, and shrimp. All were tasty and quite enough to fill us, though I will ask the inevitable question that I see happen at restaurant after restaurant -- why, oh why, do you INSIST upon setting out a disproportionate number of xxx (in this case shrimp) for your guests? I swear I think you do this on purpose for the pleasure of seeing your guests fight over the remaining xxx (again, shrimp in this example)... Sigh... it just seems unnecessary. The shrimp came 3 to an order for 2 of us... Do you not see an issue here? They were tasty. Whatev. I give up. Final words -- food was pleasantly arranged on the plate, our server was pleasant and engaging, and all was good.

The food was the majority of the food was not hot when it first came out (the pretzel had to be sent back because it still had a lot of cold spots, my mac and cheese was luke warm as was the wedding soup side.) I ordered the chicken fingers dinner, they were huge more like chicken planks and I got FIVE and piping hot as was the fish my mom ordered. Basically fresh / fried food came out really hot but premade sitting items like just didn't keep temp. We did tell the manager and he was apologetic and discounted our meal. I most recently visited Tillie's on a Sunday evening in July to celebrate my sister's birthday…read more This restaurant has been a long-time favorite for my family, and I have always enjoyed visiting here. Tillie's is located on 36th Street in McKeesport, just a few minute drive from the high school. It is also rather close to the Boston neighborhood. The building has adequate signage and is easy to locate. There is an entrance off of 36th Street as well as off of Kountz, and both are usually open. There is some street parking surrounding the building, along with a private lot to the left of the main entrance. I have never had an issue finding somewhere to park when dining in. We arrived to the restaurant around 5:30 PM on a Sunday, and it was not too crowded. I dined in with a group of 5, and we were seated immediately. I have been here on Saturday nights where there is a wait, so just be mindful that there could be a wait during peak business hours. In addition to the normal menu offered, there were some specials also available. We did not order any of these this trip, but there is the potential for some rotating dishes if you come to dine here! To start off, we ordered a few appetizers for our table. We got an order of the Fried Provolone Cheese, as well as the Fried Calamari. The Provolone is in wedges, and served with their marinara sauce - they were crispy and melty just as you want them to be. The Calamari are served with the marinara, along with a special dipping sauce. Both were good and complimented the Calamari well! Additionally, thick-sliced bread is provided for the table before the main courses come. They will refill it if you ask, and it is always delicious. For my main course, I ordered the Parmioli, which is a Tillie's special dish. It is Chicken Parmigiana topped with a giant cheese ravioli and baked together. It is a favorite of my family, so I have enjoyed it many times before. This time was no different, and the dish came out delicious! It was definitely enough for me to have some to take home. The entree came with the choice of a soup or salad, and I had a Small House Salad with a side of ranch. It came out as a nice appetizer before the meal, and was fresh and colorful. Other members of my family ordered different entrees. All were enjoyed by the person who ordered them, and included in my review are some pictures of these dishes: Chicken Alfredo, Lasagna, and Chicken Parmigiana (no mushrooms). There was also a Small Caesar Salad, and a Cup of Wedding Soup ordered that were included with the entrees. Beyond what we ordered on this visit, I would recommend trying the pizza to split with a group. It is especially great if eaten fresh while dining in. If you are undecided or want a lot of food, the Specialty Trio Combination Dinner is a great way to try multiple dishes. Our meal was wonderful! Everyone enjoyed their food, it was all hot and fresh, and was prepared well. The service was excellent, and we had a great experience with our waitress. We have really never had a bad experience here before, and will continue to keep coming back. The prices here are very fair. All meals come with the table bread, a soup or salad, and then the main entree. Most are around $20, but for what you receive it is worth it. A lot of items are made in-house, and the sauce is unique and tasty. I would recommend this place on value alone. I always love coming to Tillie's, and this visit was no different. The food is classic and as close to true Italian as it gets. The charm, atmosphere, and staff all keep me returning time after time. Tillie's has that old-time Italian restaurant charm that reminds you of a different time, but in the best way. Do not miss your chance to try this classic gem if you are thinking about going!

First impression was that the color scheme, decorations, and menu all seemed to be dated and uninspired. The staff were polite and attentive. I ordered the salad and Salmon Oscar. The salad was good and the blue cheese dressing I chose was house-made. It was good. My girlfriend got the wedge salad which I think was a bit expensive since it was a $6 up charge for a wedge of iceberg lettuce from the standard salad that came with the entrees. My Salmon Oscar with asparagus was very good. I enjoyed every bite of the salmon and crab. My daughter's chicken parm came with a ton of linguini. My wedding soup and my husband's French onion soup were delicious. The wedding soup was loaded with meatballs and chicken. My husband has a thing for French onion soup and tries it every chance he gets. He said this may have been the best ever. We split a Reuben sandwich and upgraded to onion rings. The waitress brought us each a half portion so we didn't have to divide it ourselves, which was nice. There was plenty of meat on the sandwich, making it acceptable, not great but good enough. Onion rings were very good. Dessert sounded tempting, a cherry crème brûlée. It was okay, kind of like cherry jello with a sugar crust on top. A bit disappointing to say the least. Our waitress was on top of filling the water glasses and was very nice. Now for the bad news and why I'm only giving 3 stars. I went to the ladies room before eating and there was no hot water to wash my hands. I asked my husband if the men's room had hot water and he said no. We both let it run but it never got hot, not even warm. Then I noticed (after drinking several glasses of water unfortunately) that there was a crack in my water glass. I mentioned it to my husband and he said, "you should see the chips in the glass tabletop over her on my side". I get it that wear and tear happens, but these things should be caught before serving guests. And as far as the hot water...how do servers and kitchen workers properly clean their hands after using the toilet without hot water? So the food is fairly solid and reasonably priced. But be on the lookout for chipped glassware and table tops. And use your own hand sanitizer if you have it!
