Fantastic casual dining restaurant with a fine dining feel. I had no idea this place was considered casual dining until the table next to us asked for a manager who explained it as part of their response to a complaint. No complaints here though! What makes this place unique? They offered Caymus Cabernet BY THE GLASS, which I have not found before, and I frequent higher end restaurants often. It was fun to have a high-end glass of wine without spending hundreds on a bottle. It's also nice if you want to try other drinks. The espresso martini (get it with Baileys added for a smoother taste!) is huge and delicious. Brussel sprouts appetizer and feta whip appetizer were both tasty and ample for two people. The spicy fish tacos are Mahi Mahi and a MUST if you like Mahi. I will only eat Mahi if close to the ocean, and it was great. No fishy taste, nice and tender. The brownie dessert that was off-menu was perfect for a sweet bite. So many nice restaurants get too crazy with their specialty desserts, and sometimes you just want a simple yet decadent treat like a brownie! Make a reservation on their website and relax. Made a 5:30PM reservation on a Sunday evening upon guidance from staff. Started with the Brussels sprouts. Very good; with pomegranate maple balsamic - YUM. Onto the wild mushroom flatbread with garlic truffle oil and arugula. Second entree was the Ora salmon salad - also very delicious. Flatbread was an 8 slice pie. Salmon was easily 6-8oz while grilled to perfection. Tom our server was very attentive and informative. The ambience was a mix between casual and semi-elegant. It is a resort with large pools so the guests do wander through in bathing attire. Another Opal gem. They're known for their homemade pastas and flatbreads. Opal Sol is the real deal. The food is exceptional--you can tell they use quality ingredients and take pride in every dish. The lobster bisque is the best I've had since one a chef I worked for made years ago. The service and atmosphere are equally impressive. Good seafood and the wait staff were ready to please. We ordered the seafood kabab. The kabab had shrimp, lobster and scallops that were fresh and we also enjoyed the margarita flatbread. It was a whole pizza and we could have had just had the pizza. A bit too much food for us but enjoyed the food and ambiance. Preston was an attentive and kind server and we loved seeing the sunset from our table. This restaurant is located in the Opal Sol and we highly recommend it. We topped off the meal with the dark chocolate gelato. It was decadent and we would order more if we weren't so satisfied with our meal. Happy eating! read more

I saw the reviews and made a reservation for my wife and I to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. Online it asked if there was any special occasion so I checked off "anniversary" and assumed they would just ignore it. When we arrived they had scattered rose petals all over the table and placed a "Happy Anniversary" card in the middle. Great start! The place is beautifully decorated in a tasteful nautical way. The food and service were amazing. Our server was very sweet and never failed to check in with us. We had the focaccia appetizer and it came with a Parmesan cream and a blueberry butter. We tried not to eat it all but couldn't help ourselves. I had the grouper and my wife had the Branzino. Both were excellent. They even brought us a free dessert with a chocolate "Happy Anniversary" tag. I highly recommend Drift even if it's not a special occasion. read more

A fabulous, fantastic evening meal was had at this gorgeous restaurant. This was partly due to the engaging, knowledgeable server, Jess, and partly due to the delicious food. It was also due to the amazing ambiance, which seemed to magically balance an upscale atmosphere with a relaxing vibe...... Not pretentious at all. In the evening, the lighting in the restaurant provided a warm and cozy atmosphere. The Drift Burger was quite tasty and perfectly cooked to order. The signature beef blend was topped with roasted wild mushrooms, red onion marmalade, smoked mozzarella, truffle aioli, crispy shallots, on top of a butter-griddled brioche. My first impression was that the hostess was very friendly & welcoming. After that, I think our server was the direct opposite. I asked for recommendations. He mentioned the steak, pappardelle, & grouper. I asked about other dishes and he read directly from the menu. It's a new restaurant so since there's not as many pics, I found some in Trip Advisor. I ordered the salmon & my husband ordered the pappardelle bolognese. I liked the salmon. It was sweet & savory. There is a tomato and olive tapenade in it. You don't really taste or see the olives it's all mixed in. This was fine bc I don't care for olives. If texture is something people may not be crazy about, the couscous may give that texture vibe, but it didn't bother me. The pappardelle bolognese was ok to me. The server said they make the noodles in house and it's a must try. It was ok. Happy to see they did have a lot of sauce. At the end, we had a Red Velvet dessert, topped with strawberry frosting and strawberry jam with chocolate fudge on the bottom. This was free for our anniversary. It was very much appreciated. I think our interaction with the hostess and the dessert were the best part. There was definitely a different warm vibe with the interaction with her and our server. Just as a side note, parking can be validated when eating at the restaurant. You pay $15 for parking if you validate, & it's valet. We parked across the street from the hotel for $3.90 an hour with Park Mobile App in case we wanted to take our beach stuff out of the car after dinner. Also if you need a group private room, there is a nice one in the back. It maybe seats around 15 people. There's a nice view of the beach too. read more

The ambiance is stellar. We had a reservation for 2 for lunch. We opted to eat inside although you can sit outside. We ordered blueberry Nojito and perfect storm punch which is very strong. To start we go foccica with cheese and blueberry spread, wild mushrooms flatbread, crispy chicken sandwich with fries, chocolate pudding for dessert. Food was tasty but a tad bland. We dined at Drift the first night of our stay at Opal Sands, and had such wonderful food and service that we dined there two more nights. The chef has a gift for complimenting seafood, and the suggested wine pairings were perfect. Robby, our waiter, understands food and fine dining, made good suggestions, and paced our meal perfectly. My wife had pan-seared grouper with a parsnip potato puree. I had a swordfish steak with capers and pesto. These entrees were both excellent. Our dessert was a melt-in-your-mouth ricotta cheesecake. We were staying at the hotel so this was so convenient. We went several times and everything was good. Definitely not snack bar food. We stayed at Opal Sands next door to Opal Sol and ate at Drift three nights in a row because the food was so great! We had the steak, pizza and pasta bolognese as well as the hummus appetizer and the Caesar salad. Everything was delicious and hot if applicable. The ambience is wonderful for a date night but what made it extra special was the restaurant manager who really made it all run so amazingly. You can tell the wait staff are enjoying their job and the chefs are all on it because of Dominic. We have been to many a restaurant in our 60 plus years but it takes a great manager to make it all come together. This is so worth visiting when you come to visit Clearwater Beach! We ate here 3/4 nights of our trip and I am not one to repeat restaurants while traveling if I can help it, but everything we had just kept getting better. The ambiance in the restaurant is so beachy and inviting. The entire staff is so accommodating and friendly, from the hosts to the serving staff, to the manager who even checked on us. We got to enjoy the presence of Phoenix, Pratik, and Edwin, who were all incredible. We even observed how knowledgeable and personable the servers that did not wait on us, but on tables nearby, were (one woman in specific who's name I regret not catching.) The menu is diverse and we enjoyed everything from appetizers, soup, salads, main courses, and drinks. The items that are not pictured but were also enjoyed include: maple and pomegranate-glazed brussels sprouts (could not recommend more), chilled jumbo shrimp, wild mushroom flatbread, roasted harissa chicken, tuscan salad, and the ora king salmon salad. The one thing I wish I had asked is the significance to the bulldog statue at the entrance. 10/10 in my book, I will most definitely be back. read more
