I loved it with the tartar sauce. The tomato and the onion with it made it taste fresher. The French fries were delicious when I dipped it into the tartar sauce. Crabby's is an amazing seafood restaurant facing the beach on two levels. There are umbrellas over all the outside tables and a small gift shop on the side. There's an elevator to go to the second floor, but it looks small and not so safe. It was crowded there on a Tuesday evening, but we didn't make a reservation and were able to get a table. The food is mostly fried, but with good flavor and great service! Our waiter, Perry went the extra mile and prepared our delicious calamari salad that we were sharing in two separate bowls with different dressings. He was an excellent waiter who really cares about pleasing his customers! All the waitstaff and managers were very accommodating, friendly and polite. The crab cake was delicious and the frozen drinks were refreshing and tasty! Perry gave us a coupon for free coffee, so we came back the next day for breakfast. We ended up at Crabby's by pure necessity. It was Sunday night, the beach was flooded with people, and it was the only spot we could get into. Sometimes you gotta let go and let God. We got a seat at the bar facing the ocean as the sun was checking out for the day, flexing its muscles over the Gulf of America. We sat there sipping our Kona IPAs, watching families play corn hole in front of the palm trees as we appreciated the view. This was one of those sunsets that really gets you existential. One that makes you wish you had Drake's "Do Not Disturb" or Lana Del Rey's "How to Disappear" on repeat. One that forces you stop and appreciate the present moment. When you look up the term "beach bar" in the dictionary, I imagine Crabby's would be the picture next to it. Our waiter came up and took us through the menu, explaining that "Grouper is our only fresh fish." We started with a pretzel, as if there is a jumbo pretzel on any menu I just have to pull the trigger. Pretzels are one of my only known weaknesses. I got the grouper with rice, beans, and fries, and my big homie got the fish and chips. He went on to say that "this was the best fish and chips I've ever had," but this is my homie whose food taste I would never trust. My meal was solid and got the job done, but it was a beach bar meal after all. I know what to expect. This experience was a much needed mental punch in the face. It was a wonderful experience. We had the stuffed flounder meal with mashed potatoes and gouda cheese grits, the Key West Platter with broccoli and mac amd cheese and the margarita bucket for 2. Overall, it was good. But the flounder was supposed to be stuffed with crab cake. Sadly, it was an imitation crabmeat cake. The mashed potatoes could've been better. But the grits were good. Though I'm used to a loose grit that comes in a bowl. These were more of a ball, but still flavorful. The mac and cheese was a white cheese and just okay. I'm accustomed to a mac and cheese with cheddar cheese and more consistency. The Platter itself was flavorful and consisted of a filet of Mahi, 2 shrimp skewers (4 a piece) and 2 conch balls. The best part of the Platter was the broccoli and the shrimp since the fish was a bit dry and the conch had a very tiny amount of conch and was more of a stuffing. I also had an appetizer of the clam chowder that was very loose, but flavorful thanks to the bacon. The margarita bucket was THE BEST . I would go back. Ok, something inside me wants to say this was my favorite place to eat, dine, drink, and enjoy the view. Possibly because this was "the place" we chose to have our finest dinner. I had the Bairdi crab and my husband had the ever famous local blackened grouper. The sides were down right delicious. (That corn, Get the corn!) The service was excellent. I went last night with my mom and had a great time and awesome food but the highlight was the service from Jordan and Alex (manager ). I have bad gut issues and I have to avoid a lot of things that are found everywhere like citrus , garlic , onions , spices etc . They went above and beyond to make sure the items I ordered met my dietary needs . I had some amazing steamed crab and they even melted butter for me to make sure no cross contamination with garlic .
